Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Pond was born in Texola, Okla. She lived in Wheeler and then in Pampa from 1959 to 1983, when she moved to Dumas. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Pampa. She married George A. Pond in 1929 at Erick, Okla. He died in 1987. Survivors include a son, Charles Pond of Amarillo; two daughters, Fredia Ashby and Georgia Thomas, both of Dumas; a brother, Delbert Mitchell of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1302 N.E. 4th and 513 Belmont. They request memorials be to the activity fund at Memorial Nursing Home, 302 E. 2nd, Dumas, Texas 79029. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home. L.D. Griffin SILVERTON - L.D. Griffin, 81, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Silverton Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Roark of Amarillo and the Rev. Jay Stinson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Griffin was born in Plainview. He married Roberta McMurtry in 1942 at Lubbock. He was a retired farmer and rancher. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and he served on the Silverton school board for many years. Mr. Griffin was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Silverton Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite in Amarillo and El Paso. He also was a member of Silverton First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mikel Griffin of Silverton; two sisters, Bainie Gardner of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ava Hammond of Sun City, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Preston Badgett FLOYDADA - Preston "Peck'' Badgett, 78, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ione Sedinger, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery. Mr. Badgett was born in Whitewright. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1936. He married Frances Mozelle Probasco in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. Mr. Badgett owned and retired from Badgett Radiator Repair Shop. He served in the Navy during World War II as a third class aviation metalsmith. He was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Badgett of Arlington; a daughter, Anna Busick of Cloudcroft, N.M.; a brother, Jack Badgett of Irving; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Gill Lola I. Gill, 92, of Amarillo, a former longtime Borger resident, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in South Georgia Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ron Sullivan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Westlawn Cemetery at Borger by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Gill was born in Batesville, Ark. She moved to Amarillo eight years ago from Borger. She was a former employee of C.R. Anthony. She was a member of South Georgia Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Wade'' Gill, in 1992. Survivors include a son, James Harmon of Amarillo; a daughter, Ima Lee De Marco of Mokena, Ill.; two brothers, Gaynor Milligan of Pasco, Wash., and J.C. Milligan of Fair Oaks; two sisters, Billie Ballard and Maxine Austin, both of Amarillo; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Lovetta Jean Nagunst Lovetta Jean Nagunst, 58, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rob Stevens officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mrs. Nagunst was born in Clovis, N.M. She had lived in Amarillo all her life. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Paul Nagunst; three daughters, Janet Stripling, Irene Russell and Patricia Connally; a son, Joel Lester; a brother, Robert Burnam; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The body will be available for viewing until 8 p.m. today. Elsewhere Sam E. Inman DALZELL, Ill. - Sam E. Inman, 71, a former Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mueller Funeral Home at Peru, Ill., with the Rev. Douglas N. Jacobs of St. John's Lutheran Church of Peru officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at La Salle. Mr. Inman was born in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to Amarillo in 1929. While living in Amarillo, he worked for GE Jones Electric from 1942 until 1976, when he moved to Peru and founded Inman Electric. He served as chief executive officer of Inman Electric until becoming ill. Mr. Inman was a 1944 graduate of Amarillo High School. He married Lois Jones in 1946 at Amarillo. Mr. Inman was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was active in the Electrical Apparatus Service Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Inman of Peru; a daughter, Elaine Wood of Batavia; a brother, Wilford Inman of Houston; two sisters, Wanda Arp and Patricia Day, both of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Elizabeth Ann Rees NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Elizabeth Ann Rees, 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997. Arrangements were by Baldwin-Hughey Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Mrs. Rees was born in Roanoke, Va. She moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1979 from Wheaton, Md. She retired as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Maryland public school system. She attended First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Rees of Los Angeles, Marsha Lorraine Prentice of Matthews, N.C., and Meredith Ann Creighton of Amarillo; a sister, Audrey Simmons Di Vincenzo of Rockville, Md.; a brother, Vincent Wheeler Moore of Wilmington, Del.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Oklahoma Nabor Gonzales GUYMON, Okla. - Nabor Gonzales, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Panhandle Bible Center with the Rev. Jim Wiggin, pastor of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and the Rev. Jesse Molin, pastor of Palabra Viva Pentecostal Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Clayton Cemetery at Clayton, N.M. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Gonzales was born in Passamonte, N.M. He married Mary Padilla in 1965 at Clayton. They moved to Guymon in 1974. Mr. Gonzales was employed with the city of Guymon before retiring in 1992. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Dennis Gonzales. Survivors include his wife; his children, James Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales and Christopher Gonzales, all of the home, Phillip Gonzales, Nabora Garcia, Stella Grove, Marcella Bingham, Irene Madrid and Clarence Gonzales, all of Guymon, Maclovio Gonzales of Gruver, Texas, Gilbert Gonzales of Clayton, Ronald Romero of Dumas, Texas, Lorretta Apodoca of Denver and Darlene Bartlett of Fountain, Colo.; four sisters, Carolyn Abeyta of Denver, Angie Sisneros of Clayton, Rita Aragon of Pueblo and Doan Padilla of Guymon; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Chavez, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Rev. Tobin Hitt. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Chavez was born in Montoya. He married Mariana Garcia in 1937 at Clovis. Mr. Chavez was a mechanic for AT&SF railroad before retiring in 1971. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Roman Chavez Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Salome Chavez of Summerville, S.C., Jimmy Ray Chavez of Clovis and Clarence Chavez of Whitefield, Colo.; four daughters, Cornelia Sena and Mary Ann Aragon, both of Clovis, Rosalie Hernandez of Houston, Texas, and Roseanne Garcia of Albuquerque; a brother, Santos Chavez of Lubbock; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
