Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the city of Lubbock Cemetery. Mrs. Hunt was born in Hansford County. She lived in Lubbock for 60 years and had lived in Amarillo for the past 12 years. She attended Texas Tech University. She married Howard Hunt at Clovis, N.M.; he died in 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Lubbock Daughters of the Pioneers. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lubbock. Survivors include a daughter, Faye Doss of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 6207 McCoy Drive. Fred David Smith Fred David Smith, 85, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in San Jacinto Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Melvin Suttle and the Rev. Glen Stafford, both of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Smith was born in San Saba and had lived in Amarillo since 1958. He owned Fred Smith Mobile Homes from 1963 until 1973. He later owned and managed rental properties until his retirement. He was ordained minister in Beaumont and built and restored many churches in Texas and Louisiana. He was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God Church. He married Ethel Creta Loper in 1936 at Beaumont. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dewayne E. Smith of Flat and Arlin Smith of Amarillo; a daughter, Wanda Henley Richards of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Max Leroy McLarty CANYON - Max Leroy McLarty, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Don Travis, a retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ford Baird National Cemetery at New Mexico. Mr. McLarty was born in Perryton and had lived in Canyon since 1989. He was the manager of a cable television business. He had served with the Army during World War II. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Cas McLarty, in 1985. Mary L. Smith Mary L. Smith, 82, of 403 S. Manhattan, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. She was an L.V.N. at Vivianıs Nursing Home, High Plains Baptist Hospital, Northwest Texas Hospital and Osteopathic Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992 and a son, Thomas E. Smith Jr., in 1960. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Pruett was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She was a former owner of Aaragon Beauty Salon, retiring in 1970. She married Weldon Pruett in 1930 at Clovis, N.M.; he died in 1978. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Progressive FCE Club. She was elected Woman of the Year for the FCE Club. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Horn of Amarillo; a sister, Anna Patton of Bakersfield, Calif.; a granddaughter; two grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. Ballard, associate minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Reeves was born in Dalhart and attended Dalhart schools. He married Leta Spencer in 1950 at Clayton, N.M. He was a longtime wholesale food broker and was employed by Tower Marketing. He had lived in Lubbock since moving from Stratford in 1955. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Reeves of Hillsboro, Ore., and Gary Reeves of Lubbock; a sister, Earlene Allison of Dalhart; and two granddaughters. Mrs. Poff was born in Fort Worth, where she had been a lifetime resident. She married H. Bryan Poff Sr. in 1933 at Fort Worth. He married Jimmie Evans in 1968 at Denison. He retired in 1988 from the accounting department of MKT Railroad. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Guadalupe Catholic Church at Clovis. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in San Antonio Catholic Church with the Rev. John C. Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Madrid was born in Pueblo, Colo., and had been a longtime resident of Logan. He had served in the Army. He was head mechanic for Neosho Construction Co., and had been on a construction job in Hugo, Okla. He was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Denette Madrid of Logan; two daughters, Matilda Madrid and Jessica Madrid, both of Clovis; his mother, Aurora Madrid of Clovis; three brothers, Joe Madrid, Eddie Madrid and Larry Madrid, all of Clovis; five sisters, Terri, Merlyn, Dianne, Gloria, Ruth and Mary, all of Clovis; and a grandchild. Oklahoma Charles Arther Twombly GRIGGS, Okla. - Charles Arther Twombly, 94, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Marella Methodist Church at Marella with Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will be in Marella Cemetery at Marella by Cimarron Mortuary at Boise City. Mr. Twombly was born in Lone Wolf, Okla. He moved to Cimarron County in 1906 and attended local country schools. He then attended and graduated from Goodwell High School. He farmed and ranched after graduation. He married Irene Husky in 1927 at Guymon. They lived on a ranch in New Mexico from 1950 until 1960, when they returned to Cimarron County. He was on the school board while in New Mexico and in Plainview, Texas. He was a rifleman and enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant son, Lloyd E. Twombly. Survivors include two sons, Louis T. Twombly of Montrose, Colo., and Arthur L. Twombly of Texhoma, Okla.; a daughter, Reta May Boggess of Amarillo; and a brother, George Twombly of Stratford. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Vinson Baptist Church with T.J. Pittman, of Perryton, officiating. Burial was in Cave Creek Cemetery by Greer Funeral Home. Mrs. Chambers was born in Vinson and had lived in the Vinson and Harmon County area most of her life until moving to Mangum in 1988. She graduated from Vinson High School. She married J.B. Chambers southeast of Vinson. They traveled to Mexico, Europe, Alaska, and most of the U.S. They were school class parents during the ı40s and ı50s. She operated the Chambers Drug at Vinson from 1947 until 1964. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Vinson Riding Club and Vinson Extension Homemaker Club for many years. Survivors include her husband; and two brothers, Manley Mitchell of Lawton and Stanley Mitchell of California. Area Opal S. Lambert FRITCH - Opal S. Lambert, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. Mrs. Lambert was born in Lenora, Okla., and had lived in Fritch for 50 years, moving from Camargo, Okla. She married Paul Lambert in 1970 at Clayton, N.M.; he died in 1979. She was a member of Eastern Star and Serendipity Home Extension Club. She was a homemaker and had previously been employed by Pantex and Nolanıs Grocery Store. Survivors include a son, Lee Jones of Dumas; a stepson, Wayne Lambert of Dallas; a daughter, Patricia Parrish of Fritch; two brothers, Burton Hickman of Enid, Okla., and Kenneth Hickman of Seiling, Okla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She married Von Tiffin in 1921 at Beaver, Okla.; he died in 1992. She moved from Beaver to the Fairmount community in 1922. She was a registered nurse and a Jehovahıs Witness. She was also preceded in death by a son, Emmitt Tiffin. He married Glendora Thomas in 1942 at Wellington. Mamie Frith BORGER - Mamie Frith, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Skaggs officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Frith was born in Stephenville and had lived in Borger since 1936. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday school class. She was also a charter member of the Grandmothers Club and a member of the Royal Neighbors Club. She was a Gray Lady Volunteer at the Golden Plains Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Frith, in 1986. She was past president of Business Womenıs Club and a past Scout leader. She was a member of Claude Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Curtis Green of Claude; two brothers, Jimmy Finley of Claude and Travis Puckett of Norwalk, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
