Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Ms. White was born in Walnut Ridge, Ark. She moved to Amarillo 39 years ago from Walnut Ridge. She was a bookkeeper and owned and operated the Grapevine Lounge. She also was a waitress in several other clubs. She was a member of New Beginnings Gospel Center. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda White and Renda White, both of Amarillo; a son, Kevin White of Amarillo; her mother, Lillie V. Graham of Amarillo; her father, Robert Raymond Graham of Canton, Miss.; two sisters, Robin Littlejohn and Carolyn Cook, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Billy Graham and Bobby Graham, both of Amarillo, and Jack Graham of San Antonio; two grandchildren; and two special friends, Joe Blackwell and Kathy Hensch, both of Amarillo. Miller, 76, of Amarillo, a former resident of Fontana, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Green Acres Mortuary Chapel at Bloomington, Calif. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Park at Bloomington. Mr. Miller was born in Butler, Pa. He previously lived in Fontana for 25 years and had lived in Amarillo for three years. He was a crane operator for Kaiser Steel for 30 years. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary Miller; two sons, Robert Miller of El Centro, Calif., and James V. Miller II of Colorado; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Richard H. Benedix Richard H. Benedix, 64, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Benedix was born in Pequoit, N.M., and had been a resident of Amarillo. He worked for the University of Minnesota before joining the Air Force, where he was a radar technician. After retiring from the Air Force, he was an ultronic inspector for Santa Fe Railway for several years. He married Hildamae Evans. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church, Khiva Shrine Temple, Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731, Knights of Templar Commandery No. 48 and the Bonita Chapter No. 184 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a member of the Amarillo Council No. 134 R&SM and Amarillo Chapter No. 196 RAM. Mr. Benedix was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the United States Air Force Sergeants Association. He also held memberships with the Retired Military Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lynda Mitchell of Rusk, Glynda Dallas of Abilene and Rhonda Hardy of Bedford; his mother, Iva Benedix of Minneapolis; a brother, Ronald Benedix of Minneapolis; a sister, Jean Benedix of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. today. Sister Augusta Muller Sister Augusta Muller, 88, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Francis Convent by LeRoy Matthiesen, retiring bishop of the Amarillo Diocese. She received her grade school education at St. Gall, Switzerland. She graduated from Price High School and received her bachelor of arts degree in education from St. Joseph's University in Albuquerque, N.M. She served her noviceship in Pasto, Colombia, from 1929 to 1932. She took her first vows in 1932 and her life vows in 1935. She served assignments in St. Francis; Colorado City; Aragon, N.M.; Holman, N.M.; Los Angeles; Long Beach, Calif.; and St. Laurence School in Amarillo. Survivors include a niece and cousins. Larry Graham Larry Graham, 68, of 928 S. Milam St., died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. After retiring, he enjoyed attending sporting events. She attended State Teachers College and received her master's degree from the University of Texas. She taught in Stratford, Hereford, Dalhart and Amarillo. She was a former president of the United Methodist Women and the Women's Auxiliary of Northwest Texas Hospital. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Texas League of Women Voters. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Roberts was born in Oklahoma City and attended Abilene Christian University and Texas Tech University. He moved to the Abilene area from Sonora 16 years ago. He was a lead operator for Lone Star Energy of Sweetwater. He supervised the construction and operation of numerous refineries and pipelines throughout the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico areas. He married Cevellia Carolyn Woods in 1955 at Eastland County. He was a member of the Oakridge Church of Christ and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bailey Hal Roberts of Abilene, Kolton Ross Roberts of Olney and Gregory Dallas Roberts of Bellingham, Wash.; a daughter, Cevellia Alatha Roberts of Merkel; two brothers, Clifford Roberts of Amarillo and Bobby Roberts of Mansfield; a sister, Anna Cotton of Mineral Wells; and 11 grandchildren. Virgil A. Warner ELKHART, Kan. - Virgil A. Warner, 86, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Church of God. Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery. Mr. Warner was born in Elk City. He has been a resident of Elkhart since 1947. He married Vida Bachman in 1974 at Guymon, Okla. He was previously married to Catharine Newell. He was a farmer. He was a member of First Church of God, past member of Morton County Hospital Board, a charter member of the Elkhart Duster Organization and was a member of Flying Farmers. Oklahoma Glen Elsworth Carrier BEAVER, Okla. - Glen Elsworth Carrier, 92, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Mr. Carrier was born in Skiatook and completed the eighth grade. He was a farmer all of his life. He retired and lived at home until 1992, when he moved into the Beaver County Nursing Home. Survivors include a brother, Victor Carrier of Forgan. Clifford F. Goff BOISE CITY, Okla. - Clifford F. Goff died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Marella United Methodist Church at Griggs with Harold James and Lloyd Mattocks officiating. Burial will be in Marella Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Goff was born in Albany, Mo. He moved to the Oklahoma Panhandle to work the wheat harvest in 1928. He married Reba Estella Brown in 1930 at Boise City. He was a member of the Plainview school board and the Cimarron County Memorial Hospital board. He was an active member of the Marella United Methodist church, where he served as the Sunday school treasurer and an usher. He raised cattle and farmed and also worked for the WPA and the state highway projects during the Depression. Survivors include his wife; six children, Gwen Steen of Tulsa, Carolyn Shryock of Boise City, Clayton Goff of Guymon, Clinton Goff of Salem, Ore., Janie Kunselman of Spearman, Texas, and Jeffery Goff of Guymon; two sisters, Ruth Carroll of Marionville, Mo., and Joyce Gilbert of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Glenn Goff of Perry, Iowa, and Dale Goff of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was raised near the town of Haskell. He married Kathryn "Fern" Hubbs in 1933 at Haskell. They moved to Guymon in 1993. He was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Gerald Casey, in 1990. Mrs. Harrison was born in Sulphur, Okla., and had been a longtime resident of Clovis. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Harrison. She lived in Amarillo and Long Beach, Calif., before moving to Springer. She graduated from high school in Springer and married Potter Craig in 1934 at Miami, N.M. They moved to a ranch in La Cueva in 1937 and to the A. MacArthur ranch in Wagon Mound in 1945. They moved to Clovis in 1965. She worked for Sunwest Bank before retiring. She was a member of the Keystone Chapter No. 27 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Past Matrons Club in Clovis. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom Craig of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Chanee Abbott of Redlands, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Area Dwight Drake PERRYTON - Dwight Drake, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Latham, pastor, officiating. He had lived in the Perryton area since 1928, moving from Cheyenne, Okla. He married Doris Ballard in 1940 at Lubbock. He was the owner and operator of Drake's Service Station in Perryton from 1953 to 1979. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a first lieutenant bombardier from 1941 to 1945. He was recalled to the Korean War in 1951 and served in Japan until 1953. Survivors include his wife; a son, Daniel Drake of Amarillo; a daughter, Karen Slagle of Amarillo; a brother, Lloyd Drake of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Margaret Eccleston of Sun City, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Sanchez was born in Dilley. He lived in Paducah for 39 years and had lived in Childress for the past 10 years. He married Maria Trinidad "Nena" Rodriques in 1947 at Monterrey, Mexico. He was a cowboy and farmer and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He broke horses for the King Ranch for 12 years. He later broke horses and ranched for Jack and Johnny Strait in Pearsall. He also worked for Jack Parnell and Don Tucker. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Maria Domingues of White Deer and Mary Hernandez of Plano; a son, Jose Angel Sanchez of Childress; three brothers, Lucio Sanchez of Crystal, Lalo Sanchez of Crystal and Trinidad Sanchez of Crystal; three sisters, Catalina Perales of Crystal, Lucia Pulido of Crystal and Genoveva Vardgas of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Fred Lewis Row CLARENDON - Fred Lewis Row, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997. He married Marjorie Elliott in 1946 at Memphis. He was an electrician most of his life before retiring in 1993. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Travis Baptist Church in Memphis. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brenda Lee of Clarendon; a son, Ricky Row of Amarillo; a sister, Corrine Ashcraft of Clarendon; and five grandchildren. Pearl Shepherd FRIONA - Pearl Shepherd, 79, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Friona Cemetery with Charles Green of Bovina officiating. Mrs. Milner was born in Shattuck, Okla., and had been a longtime resident of Hutchinson County. She retired as a registered nurse for Dr. Henry Hamra's office after working there for 17 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Her husband, James F. Milner, died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen Crimm of Dallas; a sister, Chloella Hilton of Fritch; and a granddaughter. Mr. Ballard was born in Boswell, Okla., and had been a resident of Dumas for more than 50 years. He retired in 1974 from the shipping department of Continental Carbon in Sunray. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He married Maudie Nell Cole in 1932 at Hollis, Okla. She died in 1986. He also was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Ballard, in 1944. Survivors include three sons, Bill Ballard of Nacogdoches, Bob Ballard of Hedley and Don Ballard of Cedar Park; two sisters, Myrtle Weightman of Dumas and Edna Ballard of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. James David Taylor PLAINVIEW - James David Taylor, 80, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Mr. Taylor was born in the Running Water community. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview schools. He married Viewlene Sneed in 1939 at Clovis, N.M. He joined the Marine Corps and served from 1945 to 1947. He then returned to Plainview and was a truck driver for Andy Taylor Trucking. He retired in 1981. He was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Ray, in 1952. Survivors include his wife; five sons, James K. Taylor and Ronnie P. Taylor, both of Waxahachie, Larry W. Taylor of Lubbock, and Carl W. Virginia Wyer MULESHOE - Virginia Wyer, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Wyer was born in Clarendon. She married Harold J. Wyer in 1925 at Shamrock. He died in 1982. She attended Texas Woman's University at Denton. She had been a resident of Muleshoe since 1925, moving from the Big Square community of Castro County, where she was a schoolteacher. She was the former owner of Phillips 66 Wholesale in Muleshoe and was a former deputy for the Bailey County Sheriff's Office. She also served as secretary for the Bailey County Selective Service Board for more than 20 years. Mrs. Wyer was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include three nephews, including David Wyer of Muleshoe; and four nieces. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe or the Home Health Care Agency. Richard Francis Kingsley SPEARMAN - Richard Francis Kingsley, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ with Arnis Pape, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Kingsley was born in Greenwood. He married Evelyn Meyer in 1939 at Greenwood. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Marie, in 1976. He lived in Gruver from 1941 to 1951, when he moved to Spearman. He was employed at Gruver & Son Grain Elevator in Gruver from 1941 to 1951 and at R.L. McClellan Grain Co. in Spearman from 1951 until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, Danny Kingsley of Lubbock, Larry Kingsley of Gainesville and Gary Kingsley of Newton, Kan.; two brothers, J.C. Kingsley Jr. of Pocatello, Idaho, and Norman Kingsley of Haltom City; two sisters, Marie Kouns of Fort Worth and Freda LaDuke of LeCompton, Kan.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, Texas 79081. Beulah Williams FARWELL - Beulah Williams, 91, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Farwell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Laverty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis, N.M. Mrs. Williams was born in Joshua. She married Johnnie Williams in 1923 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Flora Lee Anderson and Jo Ann Liethen. She was a charter member of the Farwell First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. Survivors include a son, Bert Williams of Farwell; a sister, Zelpha Fowler of Carnegie, Okla.; a brother, Harrison Stone of Twin Falls, Idaho; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Eula Merrell CLARENDON - Eula Merrell, 89, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Quitaque with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Quitaque, and the Rev. Steve Ulrey, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Wellington, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque. Mrs. Merrell was born in Haskell County. She married Leonard Merrell in 1927. She worked for the Green Thumb Program for 10 years, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Donley County Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1939 and a son, Jack Merrell, in 1979. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Boswell of Littleton, Colo.; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Fred J. Howell BOOKER - Fred J. Howell, 67, a former resident of Maple, Okla., died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Maple Freewill Baptist Church at Maple. Burial will be in Akins Cemetery by Agent Funeral Home in Muldrow, Okla. Mr. Howell was a retired farmer and rancher. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Dorothene; two daughters, Rhonda Garton of Booker and Tracy Thompson of Amarillo; two sons, Danny Howell of Spearman and Tim Howell of Midland; a brother, Ted Howell of Maple; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Agent Chapel in Muldrow.
