Georgia St. Survivors include his wife, Suzie Massey of Austin; a daughter, Taylor Marie Massey of Austin; his mother, Pam Hoverter of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his father, Sheldon Massey of Chicago; a sister, Shanna Massey of Amarillo; and his grandparents, Betty Gene Massey of Amarillo, and Leonard and Lorena Frye of Del Norte, Colo. Albert Cradle Jernigan Jr. Albert Cradle Jernigan Jr., 31, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, in Rawlins, Wyo. Burial was in Virginia Beach, Va. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2101 N. Coulter. Mr. Jernigan was born in Norfolk, Va., and had lived in Amarillo since 1993. He graduated from Kellam High School at Virginia Beach. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked with the youth. He was a mechanic at Street Toyota. He was a certified Viper technician. Survivors include his father, Albert Cradle Jernigan Sr. of Virginia Beach; his mother, Carolyn Joyce Jernigan of Virginia Beach; three brothers, Richard Jernigan of Fort Polk, La., and Anthony Jernigan and Ronald Jernigan, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Giselle Jernigan of Virginia Beach; and his fiancee, Angela Hendricks of Amarillo. Roger Allen Ragsdale Roger Allen Ragsdale, 31, of Amarillo, formerly of Fort Worth, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville. Burial was in Bluebonnet Hill Memorial Park in Colleyville. Mr. Ragsdale was born at Carswell Air Force Base. He attended high school at Azle and Southwest. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd. He was honorably discharged from the Army after serving in the United States and Seoul, Korea. Mr. Ragsdale was working in the computer service business in Amarillo at the time of his death. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joy and John MacNelly of Hurst; three brothers, David Ragsdale of Tampa, Fla., Thomas Ragsdale of Grapevine and Brett MacNelly of Fort Worth; and two sisters, Carri Slaughter and Sherri Baergen, both of Fort Worth. Sarah Elizabeth McCaskill Sarah Elizabeth "Mac'' McCaskill, 83, of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in North Fairview Cemetery at Wellington. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. McCaskill was born in Clarendon and had been a longtime resident of Amarillo. She graduated in 1960 from St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church and taught a Sunday school class there. Mrs. McCaskill was preceded in death by her husband, Garvin McCaskill, in 1983. Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Chandler of Amarillo and Mary Hanson of Fresno, Calif.; a son, David McCaskill of Amarillo; a stepson, Garvin McCaskill of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Lois Goforth of Amarillo and Louise Brooks of Modesto, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to San Jacinto United Methodist Church, 505 Tennessee St., Amarillo, Texas 79106. Virginia Nicholson Virginia Nicholson, 78, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Richard Dickerson, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Nicholson was born in Voca. She lived in Amarillo from 1957 to 1969 and in Abilene from 1969 to 1981, when she returned to Amarillo. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary Union and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was active in church work and taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for Faith City Mission and the Amarillo Art League. She married Malcolm Nicholson in 1940 at Brady. Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by her son, Don Nicholson. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Vicky Boxwell; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The family will be at 7203 Gainsborough. New Mexico Helen Opal Nethery PORTALES, N.M. - Helen Opal Nethery, 76, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997, in American Falls, Idaho. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Helen Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Nethery was born in Elida and raised on a cattle ranch in New Mexico. She graduated from Elida High School in 1938. She married Jennings Nethery in 1947. She moved with her family to Colorado and Utah and finally settled in American Falls in 1962. While living in American Falls, she was a deputy sheriff at Power County Sheriff's office, where she was a dispatcher and issued driver's licenses. She retired in 1984. Mr. Nethery died in 1985, and Mrs. Nethery returned to New Mexico. She was a Catholic. Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Gore of Portales and Marjorie Simich of Napa, Calif.; her children, Ted Nethery of Seattle, Marie Smith of Pocatello, Idaho, Gary Nethery of American Falls, Bill Nethery of York, S.C., and Belinda Nethery of Manassas, Va.; and six grandchildren. Pat Cairney CLOVIS, N.M. - Pat Cairney, 81, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. CST Friday in Linwood Park Cemetery at Boone, Iowa, with the Rev. Rose Blank officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Cairney was born in Boone. She married Roland M. Cairney in 1937 at Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Clovis in 1988. She worked as a clerk in a grocery store for many years. Survivors include a son, Rick Dickson of Clovis; three sisters, Betty Stoley and Loraine Roberts, both of Boone, and Arlene Kuhlmann of Lombard, Ill.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Antonio Apodaca CLOVIS, N.M. - Antonio Apodaca, 90, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Rev. Tobin Hitt. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Apodaca was born in Villa Nueva. He married Mary Guadalupe Bachicha in Anton Chico. They moved to Clovis in 1942. Mr. Apodaca was a carpenter for the AT&SF Railroad. He retired in 1972. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Survivors include four sons, Antonio Apodaca Jr. of San Gabriel, Calif., Richard Apodaca and Patrick Apodaca, both of Clovis, and James Apodaca of Walnut, Calif.; four daughters, Modesta Acevedo of Chicago, Cecilia Garcia and Angie Lozano, both of Clovis, and Emily Coughlin of DeSoto, Texas; a brother, Raymond Apodaca of Atlanta; 32 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Anna M. Steckline MCKINNEY - Anna M. Steckline, 96, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Private memorial services are pending with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Mrs. Steckline was born in Johnsville, Pa. She was a homemaker. She married George H. Steckline in 1921 at Reading, Pa. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by three sons and two daughters. Survivors include a son, George Steckline of McKinney; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. Oklahoma Elizabeth E. Ammons GUYMON, Okla. - Elizabeth E. "Betty'' Ammons, 73, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Riddles, pastor of Sunset Lane Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mrs. Ammons was born in Junction City, Kan. She married Mitchell J. Ammons Sr. in 1953. As a career military family, they lived several places abroad and stateside. They settled in Guymon in 1977. Mr. Ammons died in 1991. Mrs. Ammons was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Madge Solberg of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cynthia Zepeda and Nancy Lara, both of Guymon; a son, Mitchell Ammons Jr. of Lufkin, Texas; a sister, Verda Martin of Manhattan, Kan.; a brother, John Britt of Manhattan; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Miss Sparks was born in Borger and raised in Panhandle. She graduated from Panhandle High School in 1971 and from West Texas State University in 1976. She worked for Southwestern Bell and AT&T as a customer support representative and a computer support technician. She volunteered as a union steward and area vice president for the Communication Workers of America Union. Survivors include her parents, Nolan and Margaret Sparks of Panhandle; and a brother, Chester Sparks of Irving. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. Beatrice Perry Suggs PAMPA - Beatrice Perry Suggs, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997. No services have been planned. The body was cremated. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Suggs was born in Midland and moved to Pampa in 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. She married Bobby Glen Suggs in 1979 at Pampa. He died in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Zink of Alamogordo, N.M.; and two sisters, Jewel Greenwald of Hesperia, Calif., and Jimmie Byorum of Copperas Cove. Edna P. Johnson FARWELL - Edna P. Johnson, 85, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe with the Rev. Richard Laverty of First Baptist Church of Farwell officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park. Miss Johnson was born in Comanche County. She had lived in Farwell since 1989, moving from Abilene. She was a store clerk before retiring in 1988. Survivors include a sister, Vera A. Edge of Lubbock; and a brother, K.E. Johnson of Oklahoma Lane. The family requests memorials be to the Farwell Convalescent Center or a favorite charity. Barney Lee Colwell PADUCAH - Barney Lee Colwell, 69, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Crosby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Colwell was born in Swearingen, Cottle County. He had been a lifelong resident of Cottle and King counties. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla, in 1958. Survivors include a son, Lacy Colwell of Fort Worth; and a sister, Patricia Diseker of Fort Worth. Richard Douglas Hoelscher HEREFORD - Richard Douglas Hoelscher, 37, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hereford. Arrangements are by Nolan Funeral Home of Colorado Springs. Mr. Hoelscher was born in San Antonio. He had lived in the Colorado Springs area for 14 years. He worked as an assistant computer programmer. Survivors include his parents, Marcus and Mary D. Hoelscher of Hereford; two brothers, Randy Hoelscher of Ballinger and Ted Hoelscher of Hereford; and his grandfather, Andrew Hoelscher of Ballinger. Glenn Watley DALHART - Glenn Watley, 70, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Watley was born and raised in Groom. He joined the Navy and served in the Pacific as a Seabee during World War II. After the war, he returned to the Panhandle, where he farmed, ranched and did custom harvesting. He was a member of the Donley County Soil Conservation Board and was awarded the Soil Conservation Award. He served on the Vega City Commission and was a member of Vega Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Julie Aleman of Amarillo; three sons, Andy Watley of Gruver, Roy Watley of Vega and Brian Watley of Spearman; two brothers, Vernon Watley of Beaumont and Roger Watley of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
