Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. F.M. Byford, adults minister of Paramount Baptist Church, officiating. Military rites will be given by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. McPeak was born in Miami, Texas, and had lived in Amarillo for 36 years. He graduated with honors from Pampa High School and was a graduate of Wayland Baptist University at Plainview. He was retired from sales with Verd-a Ray Corporation. Mr. McPeak served with the Army. He also was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and had served as music minister for a number of small churches in Colorado and Texas. Survivors include three daughters, Jessica Capps of Garland, Jennifer Lindsey of Dallas and Jan Renee Gilmer of Garland; a son, Jeff McPeak of Houston; his mother, Evelyn McPeak of Pampa; a sister, Mary Ann Sparks of Goilad; a brother, Tom McPeak of Waco; and four grandchildren. Joseph Sylvester McAvey Joseph Sylvester McAvey, 69, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Carathers, pastor of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. McAvey was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Amarillo since 1966. He married Edna Bretzke in 1949 at San Antonio. Mr. McAvey was retired from Pantex after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Amarillo International Airport Board, served on the city planning and zoning commission and was a member of Airline Pilots and Owners Association. He also served in the Air Force and was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny McAvey of Amarillo; four daughters, Patricia Bachus of San Antonio, Cathy Young of Madisonville, Carol Voshalike of McAllen and Bobbie Parsons of Amarillo; his mother, Florence McAvey of East Northport, N.Y.; two brothers, Larry McAvey of Charlottesville, N.C., and Johnny McAvey; two sisters, Marie Boyle of East Northport, N.Y., and Florence Van Ryken of Stonybrook, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Knights of Columbus. New Mexico Isidro G. Garcia CLOVIS - Isidro G. Garcia, 22, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today day at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Garcia was born in Clovis and moved to Garden City, Kan., in 1993. He returned to Clovis in April. He married Monica Avales in 1996 at Garden City. Mr. Garcia worked for Excel Corp. as a chuck boner and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community in Clovis. Survivors include his wife; his parents, David and Ida Garcia of Clovis; a brother, David Ernest Garcia Jr. of Clovis; a sister, Michelle Garcia of Garden City; and his grandparents, Isidro Garcia and Isabel Guzmon, both of Clovis. Bonefacio "Boney'' Nicolas CLOVIS - Bonefacio "Boney'' Nicolas, 27, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church in Texico, N.M. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at San Jose Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sunset Terrace in Farwell by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Nicolas was born in Amherst, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Farwell, Texas, and the Texico area. Mr. Nicolas was a laborer in the farming industry and was currently employed with Town and Country Food Stores in Texico. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. He married Cynthia Galvan in 1996 at Farwell. Survivors include his wife; five brothers, Tony Nicolas of Farwell, Adrian Nicolas of Clovis, Issac Nicolas, both of Bovina, Texas, and Alberto Nicolas Jr. of Dimmitt, Texas; four sisters, Alma Orozco and Maria Chavez, both of Muleshoe, Texas, Maria Nicolas of Eagle Pass, Texas, and Violet Nicolas of Bovina; and his parents, Alberto and Sahara Nicolas of Farwell. A trust account has been set up in his memory at Muleshoe State Bank in Muleshoe. Elsewhere Dorothy Birchfield ANDREWS - Dorothy Birchfield, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Matador with the Rev. Dale Dozier, pastor of McKinney Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery at Matador by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Birchfield was born in Langley, Ark., and moved to Motley County in 1924. She married Robert A. Birchfield in 1946 at Matador. Mrs. Birchfield had been a former resident of Levelland, Midland and Rankin and had lived in Andrews for the past 12 years. She also was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bobby Birchfield of Andrews and Bill Birchfield of Dallas; two sisters, Delora Medley and Vernell Nuss, both of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Area Frank Bryant QUANAH - Frank Bryant, 60, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Price-Jackson Chapel with the Rev. John Spangler officiating. Burial will be at Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Bryant was born near Goodlett. He moved from Lubbock in 1988, where he retired as a repairman for Pioneer Gas Co. He played the guitar for a band in Lubbock for a time. Mr. Bryant was a member of the Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock and was an Army Reserve veteran. Survivors include his mother, Faye Bryant of Quanah; and two sisters, Helen Gerred of Quanah and Janice Formby of Wichita Falls. The family suggests memorials be to the Golden Wings Hospice Foundation. Ray Bob Robinson PLAINVIEW - Ray Bob Robinson, 62, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Garden of Memories in Paducah with the Rev. Ed Peckham, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home in Paducah. Mr. Robinson was born in Paducah. He had lived in Crane and Dallas before moving to Plainview in 1991. He was previously employed by E.M. CAHN Clothiers in Dallas. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his mother, Sue Craven Robinson of Plainview. Sandra Gayle Riley QUANAH - Sandra Gayle Riley, 52, of Quanah, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Don Wirsdorfer and the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be at Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Riley was born in Quanah. She lived in Quanah most of her life and graduated from Quanah High School. She married Gerald Riley in 1964 in Quanah. Mrs. Riley was a bookkeeper and housewife. She also was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Ben Riley of Quanah; two sisters, Carole Cassie and Rue Eaton, both of Quanah; a brother, Hugh Mathis of Hillsboro; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church. James Harold Alderson PAMPA - James Harold Alderson, 79, of Pampa, died, Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Plainview with the Rev. Darwin Roberson, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church of Floydada, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Alderson was born in Santa Anna. He graduated from Erike Community High School. Upon graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a military policeman. He married Helen Conger in 1945 at Portales, N.M. The couple made their home in Plainview the following year. Mr. Alderson worked for Green Machinery for 18 years as a machinist. He then moved to Clayton, N.M., where he worked as a farmer and rancher for several years. He also worked for Stapleton's as a machinist. The couple moved to Pampa in 1979, where he worked for Pupco Unit until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Alderson was a member of the Plainview United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Barbara Thomas of Pampa, Jaynee Lancaster of Lexington, Mass., Linda Edwards of Floydada and Sandra Murphy of Amarillo; a son, Edward Gary Alderson of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Meals on Wheels, 201 E. Foster, Pampa, Texas 79065 or Grace Baptist Church, 824 S. Barnes, Pampa, Texas 79065. The family will be at 907 Fresno in Plainview. Benny Baskin DALHART - Benny Baskin, 54, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hass Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leon Laney, pastor of Spiritual Life Center, and John Widener of Liberty Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Dumas Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Baskin was born and raised in Dumas. He moved to Dalhart in 1975. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Baskin of Dalhart; two sisters, Pat Barrow of Dalhart and Donna Morgan of Wichita, Kan. The family will be at 1017 Matlock. W.J. "Dub'' Scott BORGER - W.J. "Dub'' Scott, of Borger, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Skaggs officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Scott was a native of Ada, Okla., and had been a Borger resident for 45 years. He was a sales clerk with Baily Motor Co. and a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy. He also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gwyn Scott; five sons, Mark Scott of Austin, Kevin Scott of Borger, Jay Scott of Austin, Sam Scott of Amarillo and Jack Scott of Bartlesville, Okla.; four daughters, Ruth Gomez of Borger, Joyce Scott of Austin, Becky Prager of Las Vegas and Martha Del Venture of St. Louis; a brother, Floyd Scott of White Deer; two sisters, Doris Cole of Pampa and Paula Swain of Security, Colo.; and 14 grandchildren.
