Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hill Sr., pastor, and the Rev. Willie Thrash, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Gilmore was born in Rockwall and had lived in Amarillo since 1965. He enlisted in the Marines in 1952 and was transferred to reserve duty to complete his service obligation which ended in 1960. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Henry Carter Post No. 7864. He worked for Greyhound Trailways Bus Co. in the package express service. Survivors include his stepmother, Nellie Shaw-Gilmore of Childress; two sisters, Mercidee Gilmore-Harding and Clare Gilmore-Walker, both of Tacoma, Wash.; two brothers, Roy Lee Gilmore of San Diego and Floyd Gilmore of San Jose, Calif. The family will be at 201 N. McMasters St. Jodie Steele Jodie Steele, 74, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 1, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Waugh, pastor of Westview Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Steele was born in Seymour. She moved to Amarillo in 1957 from Plainview. She had been active with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Parent Teachers Association. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She married Bob Steele in 1948 at Colorado. He died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Robert L. Steele of Amarillo; a brother, Alvin Chilton of Merlin, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Edmund Wells Thorpe Edmund Wells Thorpe, 90, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Hardin of the Church of the Ascension officiating. Arrangements are by the family. Mr. Thorpe was born in Exeter, Devonshire, England, and moved to Kenya, East Africa, in 1929. He lived in Kenya for 36 years. He served during World War II for British intelligence in the Mediterranean and returned to Kenya to become a coffee farmer and to take people on wildlife photographic safaris throughout East Africa. During this time, he met his second wife, Jean Bowie Shor. They took photographic safaris together before moving to Malta. They sailed the Mediterranean in their own boat for 10 years and then settled in Santa Fe, N.M., where he was a Realtor associated with Chaparral Realty Co. They retired to Amarillo nine years ago. Survivors include his wife; and a daughter, Joan Root of Naivasha, Kenya. The body will not be available for viewing. David Stanley Morrow David Stanley Morrow, 58, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Jason Kelley, chaplain of Truckstop Ministries, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Morrow was born in Waterloo, Iowa. He had lived in Amarillo for 20 years and was a bus driver for the city of Amarillo Transit System for 14 years. He married Peggy Davis in 1963 at San Diego. He was a veteran of the Air Force and the Navy. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark Morrow of Amarillo and Tony Morrow of Abilene; his mother, Nellie Phoebe Morrow of Palm Springs, Calif.; three brothers, Johnny Morrow of Marlin, Allen Morrow of Waco and Jim Morrow of Deming, N.M.; three sisters, Jan Bartolo of California, Donna Free of Palm Springs and Gloria Cant of Red Wing, Minn.; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Pearce was born in Lazare, Texas, and had lived in Clovis since 1973. She was a member of West 21st Street Church of Christ. She married Alvin Pearce in 1945 at Kirkland, Texas. He died in 1991. Survivors include three daughters, Rose Scarborough of Portales, Kaylene Brown of Lubbock, Texas, and Sharon Tamplen of Las Cruces; a son, Alvin Pearce of Clovis; a sister, Marie Connell of Socorro; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be for liver research. Alfredo Sena CLOVIS, N.M. - Alfredo Sena, 89, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Services were at 7 p.m. Monday in The Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community by Monsignor Sipio Salas. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories with military honors by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Sena was born in Colonias. He joined the Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1944. He later worked for Santa Fe Railway in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He retired from the railroad in 1973 after working 27 years. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post No. 25 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. He married Maria Montoya in 1939 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Faustin Sena of Albuquerque, and Alfredo Sena Jr. and Gilbert Sena, both of Clovis; four daughters, Angela Sena, Betty Archibeque, Florinda Harris and Corina Gutierrez, all of Clovis; two brothers, Frank Sena of Clovis and Joe Sena of California; three sisters, Saripa Sandoval, Aurelia Martinez and Isabel Mendez, all of Clovis; 17 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Mabel Alexander Morgan CLAYTON, N.M. - Mabel Alexander Morgan, 101, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque with the Rev. Norton Scrimshire officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Morgan was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and moved to Denver in 1908. She was an accomplished musician, playing and teaching piano lessons. She completed high school in three years and then completed her education at the University of Denver in 1915. She was a student assistant to Dr. David Duncan, who became chancellor of the university in the 1930s. She married I.L. "Roy" Morgan in 1915. Mr. Morgan attended the Illif School of Theology and had his own parish in Denver by the time they were married. They were active in their various churches around Colorado, including Fort Lupton, Delta, Lamar and Arvada. Mrs. Morgan worked with the missionary societies and the Ladies Aid. Her husband preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mabel Pearl "Perky" Davis, in 1957. She was a lifetime member and had served as state president of the WSCS. She also was a member of the PEO Sisterhood for 70 years after being initiated into Chapter AZ in Fort Lupton, Colo., in 1924. Survivors include two daughters, Frances Krehbiel of Clayton and Mildred Hayhurst of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Eddie Mae Hawkins TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Eddie Mae Hawkins, 71, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Hawkins of Belton, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Logan and had been a lifetime resident of the Tucumcari area. She was previously employed by First National Bank of Tucumcari and was employed by the McFarland Brothers Bank at the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Gospel Grace Tabernacle Church. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. E.H. Hawkins of Tucumcari; two daughters, Cherie Fellers of Grain Valley, Mo., and Elsie Parson of Belen; a son, Marvin Evans of Albuquerque; a brother, Bill Rouse of Tucumcari; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-grandchild. Canyon Hampton Lisle Hampton "Gum Man" Lisle, 79, of Canyon, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, Bob Shepard, director of University Church of Christ Bible Chair, and Brent Adams, minister of Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery at Amarillo by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Lisle was born in Randall County. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1935 and then attended West Texas College for one year. He was employed by Cal Farley and by the U.S. Government ASCS Office. He married Irma Pearl Meyer in 1940 at Amarillo. He worked for the post office in Canyon for 32 years. After retiring, he worked part-time for LaGrone Funeral Home, which later became Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors and is currently Brooks Funeral Directors. He assisted all three businesses with funeral services. Mr. Lisle was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a master wood carver, specializing in cowboy boots, miniature working pliers and miniature jewelry boxes. He was a member of University of Church of Christ and the American Legion. He was a former member of the Lion's Club and the Toastmasters. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Howard Hampton Lisle of Garland and Harry Albert Lisle of Amarillo; two daughters, Sharon Plummer of Searcy, Ark., and Julie Brown of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday in First Methodist Church of Monroe. Burial will be in Start Cemetery. Mr. Teague was born in Eldorado, Okla. He married Blanche Hester in 1935 at Childress. He was a road and bridge construction worker and foreman most of his life. He retired as a county maintenance superintendent from the Texas Highway Department in Childress. Following his retirement in the early 1970s, he and his wife moved to Monroe. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Simpson and Evelyn Teague. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Teague of the home; a sister, Ozara Simpson of Lewisville, Texas; a brother, Weldon W. Teague of Childress; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Area Marguerite Johnson PAMPA - Marguerite Johnson, 82, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, in Odessa. She graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1967. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and had been employed by Alco Department Store in Dimmitt as a point of sale coordinator for four years. She married Bob Schacher in 1967 at Hereford. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bob Schacher, in 1980. Mrs. Perry was born in Gould, Okla. She married Bill Perry in 1935 at Childress. They moved to Dalhart in 1936. Her husband began carrying a rural mail route in 1936. She substituted for him and continued delivering the mail following his death in 1958. She continued working until 1989. She was a longtime member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church and taught Sunday school to preschool children for many years. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the National Rural Carrier's Association. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bill Perry. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Wilkinson of Dalhart; a son, Sam Perry of Dalhart; three sisters, Mildred Frazier and Marie Miller, both of Dalhart, and Joan Arndt of Golden, Colo.; a brother, L.H. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Waka Church of the Brethren at Waka with the Rev. Martin Gauby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Elledge was born in Fairview, Okla. He had lived in the Perryton area since 1917, moving from Fairview. He moved to Ochiltree County with his father and brother. They homesteaded a section of land one mile north and one mile west of Waka. After the death of his father, he continued to farm and care for his brother. He retired in 1994. He married Lena E. Forney in 1921 at Anadarko, Okla. She died in 1991. He also was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy. Survivors include a son, Don R. Elledge of White Deer and Jack W. Elledge of Pueblo, Colo.; a daughter, Bonnie Reeves of Perryton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Booker Christian Church with Jim O'Banion officiating. Burial will be in the Heart Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service. Mrs. Trosper was born in Beaver County, Okla. After attending a country school, she worked as a waitress in Beaver. She married Cecil Trosper in 1939 at Beaver. They made their home on a farm in the Booker area. They lived in Corpus Christi for a brief period of time until 1942, when they moved back to the farm where she was raised. In 1957, they moved to Booker and had lived there since. Mrs. Trosper was employed at the Booker hotel and coffee shop for several years. She later worked at a restaurant in Elmwood, Okla. At the time of her death, she was working at the Booker school cafeteria, where she had worked for the past 18 years. In 1993, she received her 15-year pin for service to the Booker Public Schools. She was a member of Booker Christian Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Larry Trosper of Spearman and Virgil Trosper of Perryton; a daughter, Donna Sewald of Arvada, Colo.; four sisters, Myrtle Pugh of Balko, Okla., Anna Shore of Canadian, and Elva Collins and Edith Bellah, both of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Williams was born in Richmond, Mo., and had been a longtime resident of Borger. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. and Mr. Burger. He was a 2-year member of the Borger EOC and had recently joined the ham radio club. He was preceded in death by a wife, Pauline Williams, in 1987. She was head bookkeeper for Panhandle Bank and Trust and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Lewis Blankenship in 1944 at Borger. Survivors include her husband; a son, Johnny Blankenship of Borger; a daughter, Sherry Riemer of Stinnett; six brothers, Lee McWilliams of Durant, Francis McWilliams of Calera, Elmo McWilliams and Gene McWilliams, both of Borger, Audry McWilliams of Stinnett, and Charles McWilliams of Olathe, Colo.; a sister, Marie Kearfott of Calera; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Minton in 1944. They started their own funeral home and flower shop in 1945. After her husband's death in 1964, she kept the business running with the help of family and friends. She was a former member of the Women of Rotary and the Altrusa Club. She attended Abilene Business College and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Joe Minton of Stinnett, Jake Minton of New Braunfels and Jim Minton of Borger; a daughter, Judy Rankin of Borger; a brother, Leo Wilcox of Borger; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gilreath was born in Olton. She married Lloyd Gilreath in 1943 at Sudan. He died in 1995. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter. She moved to Sudan in 1954 from the Circleback community. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Gilreath of Kingsville and Ricky Gilreath of Lubbock; three sisters, Mabel Reed and Pearl Davieau, both of Sudan, and Vera Kenoe of Austin; a brother, Alvin Talley of Chatwood, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Gladys Perry GUYMON, Okla. - Gladys Perry, 85, died Friday, Feb. 28, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Shannon Davis, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Perry was born in Beaver County. She moved with her family to the area in 1906 and homesteaded in Beaver County, where she attended LaKemp country school. She received a teaching certificate from Panhandle Agricultural Institute in Goodwell. She moved to Guymon in 1929. She married Carl Perry in 1930 at Guymon. He was a partner with her family in the Western Chevrolet Dealership and the J.I. Case Implement. He died in 1969. Mrs. Perry was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and the Guild Circle, where she had served as president. As a member of the Guymon chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 419 for more than 68 years, she served as past worthy matron and had remained active in the Past Matron's Club. She was a charter member and past president of the Sigma Phi Federated Club, was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution National Society, was a member of the No Man's Land Senior Citizens Association and was a lifetime Alumni member of the Panhandle State University Foundation. Survivors include three sons, Joe D. Perry of Damascus, Md., Jack K. Perry of Seattle and James H. Perry of Houston; two sisters, Nora D. Key and Wanda Shields, both of Guymon; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla. 73942. Mamie Rogers KEYES, Okla. - Mamie Rogers, 90, died Sunday, March 2, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Rogers was born in Pollock, Mo. She attended school at Pollock before her family moved to the rural Texhoma area. She graduated from the eight grade at North Fork School and attended high school in Texhoma. She married Harry Ford in 1924 at rural Texhoma. They lived in Keyes, where they helped to built the depot, the section house and some of the first buildings in Keyes. After Mr. Ford's death, she married Charles Rogers at Truth or Consequences, N.M. They lived in Keyes and many parts of New Mexico before returning to Keyes. She also was preceded in death by her second husband; a son, Donald Joe Ford; a daughter, Winifred June Ford; three infant daughters; and two infant sons. Survivors include two daughters, Esther Israel of Keyes and Wilma Lee Patterson of Clovis, N.M.; a brother, Jeff McDonnold of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Eufa Jean Reece of Farmington, N.M.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Morton County Care Center at Elkhart or a favorite charity. Memorials may be left in care of the mortuary.
