Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Oren Key of Vernon. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park. Ms. Roberts was born in Kingsville. She had lived in Quanah since 1975, moving from Healdton, Okla. She was a clerk at a local convenience store. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Her daughter, Kennedy Cheyenne Moore, also died on Sept. 2. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Deborah and Jim Stich of Quanah; a brother, Larry Warren of Quanah; and grandparents, Jack and Willie Roberts of Quanah. Survivors include grandmother and stepgrandfather, Deborah and Jim Stich of Quanah; grandfather, Albert Moore of Amarillo; and great-grandparents, Jack and Willie Roberts of Quanah. Irene Avers Wright DUMAS - Irene Avers Wright, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Stillwater, Okla., with Dr. Henry Chennault of First Church of Stillwater officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wright was born in Mustang. She was a longtime resident of Stillwater and had lived in Dumas for four years. She retired as a public school teacher. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Avers, in 1964; and her second husband, Jess M. Wright, in 1995. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patti Phillips Dennis of Dumas; a sister, Opal Tarr of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 302 Powell. C.J. Dalton PAMPA - C.J. Dalton, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church, and the Rev. Gene Allen, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Dalton was born in Chickasha, Okla. He moved to Pampa in 1942 from Canadian. He married Deca Reynolds in 1940 at Miami. He worked for Cabot Machinery Division for 35 years, working for 17 years as a truck driver and later working as a foreman. He retired in 1981. Mr. Dalton was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Beltremia. He attended Briarwood Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Martin, in 1981. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pat Bolton and Bobbi Brumfield, both of Pampa; a son, Curtis Dalton of Pampa; a brother, R.D. Dalton of Pampa; a sister, Jean Webb of Pampa; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Briarwood Church. Maggie Louise Aten CLARENDON - Maggie Louise Aten, 93, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Citizens Cemetery with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church, and her grandson, Gary Lane of Euless, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Aten was born in Channing and had been a resident of Donley County most of her life. She married Quinn Lacy Aten in 1931 at Lelia Lake. He died in 1986. Mrs. Aten was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school in Lelia Lake and Clarendon for several years. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Clarendon Chapter No. 6. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Roberts of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Hudgins of Brookshire and Grace Leathers of Clarendon; two grandsons; and a greatgranddaughter. Billy Dee Walker PERRYTON - Billy Dee "B.D.'' Walker, 74, of Wichita Falls, a former resident of Perryton, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Bruce of First United Methodist Church of Hurst and the Rev. Steve Ulrey of Perryton officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Walker was born in Gainesville and raised in Altus, Okla. While in high school, he played with the Altus High School Band at the White House in Washington D.C. During his junior year in high school, he was named Outstanding Flute and Piccolo Player in the United States. He attended Southwestern College in Weatherford, Okla., where he was active in musical organizations. His college career was interrupted by World War II, when he served with the Navy stationed in the South Pacific. During his military career, he played in the Commander's Band. After World War II, Mr. Walker returned to college and received his degree at Southwestern. He later earned a master's degree in education at West Texas State University. Mr. Walker's initial teaching position was as band director at the Snyder, Okla., public schools. He served as the band director in Tulia and was the band director in Perryton from 1952 to 1965. The latter years of his teaching career were spent as a band director in the Wichita Falls school system. He married Betty Walker in 1942. She died in 1972. He married Gene Walker in 1986 at Wichita Falls. Survivors include his wife; a son, Charles Walker of Dunlap, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy Bruce of Arlington and Jeani Walker of Houston; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Noma Prebal Hunt BORGER - Noma Prebal Hunt, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Hill, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hunt was born in San Saba County and had been a Borger resident for 50 years. She was a retired nurse. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and was secretary of the children's department at the church. She married Thurman Hunt in 1941 at Corpus Christi. Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by a daughter, Renna Gayle, in 1979. Survivors include her husband; a son, Thurman Hunt Jr. of Leesburg, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara Nadeau of Lawton, Okla.; a brother, J.D. Reid of San Angelo; two sisters, Estelle Williams of Ozona and Bonnie Gober of Brownwood; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Ruth McNeil Seveland Ruth McNeil Seveland, 83, of 4707 Bell St., died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997. Private graveside services will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock. Ms. Seveland was born in Sevier County, Ark. She lived at Windsor Gardens in Denver for many years. She was an accountant for Chrysler Motor Corp. before retiring in 1979. She moved into Clairmont Retirement Village in Amarillo in 1993. Ms. Seveland was a member of BFS International and a past president of Business and Professional Women. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colo., and served on many committees there. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Sue Seveland, in 1967. Survivors include a brother, Buck McNeil of Lubbock; and a sister, Anna Mae Stapleton of Amarillo. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Robert I. Gabaldon Robert I. Gabaldon, 76, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holton Cemetery at Holton, Kan. Mr. Gabaldon was born in Wichita, Kan., and had lived in Amarillo for 10 years. He was a dental lab technician for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also had worked for the Indian Health Service and the Highway Safety Department in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a member of the CheyenneArapaho tribe, where he was an elder council member and a business consultant. He graduated from Haskel Indian College and attended Kansas University. Mr. Gabaldon was a Navy veteran and served as a medical corpsman during World War II. He was a member of the Merchant Marines and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was Episcopalian. Survivors include his wife, Rose-Marie Cuellar-Gabaldon; a daughter, Nina Gabaldon Desbien of Durango, Colo.; a son, Robert I. Gabaldon Jr. of Lawrence, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Lillian Pinkerton Lillian Pinkerton, 87, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Elder R.A. Tindall of Primitive Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Plainview Cemetery at Plainview. Mrs. Pinkerton was born in Pidcoke and had lived in Amarillo since 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Franklin Pinkerton, in 1943. Survivors include two sons, Billy Frank Pinkerton of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Joe Walter Pinkerton of Amarillo; a daughter, Wyonda Lee Longino of Baton Rouge, La.; three sisters, Irma Ruth Sharp of Amarillo, Geneva Mitchell of Burnett and Anlee Marrow of San Angelo; a brother, Jim Bishop of Conroe; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 6801 Wolflin Ave. Cliff Brown Cliff Brown, 19, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock with Oscar Batten, minister of Ropesville Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mr. Brown was born in LaCross, Wis. He attended Ropesville High School. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1995, moving from Ropesville. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ. Survivors include his mother, Doris Jamison of Amarillo; three brothers, Phillip Barnes of Lubbock, Darrell Barnes of Parkersburg, W.Va., and James Barnes of Hammond, Ind.; four sisters, Cindy Miller of San Antonio, Elizabeth Barnes of Chicago, Nancy Pierce of Ropesville and Sandra Brumley of Parkersburg. Elsewhere Anna M. Steckline MCKINNEY - Anna M. Steckline, 96, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997. Arrangements are by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Mrs. Steckline was born in Johnsville, Pa. She was a homemaker. She married George H. Steckline in 1921 at Reading, Pa. He preceded her in death in 1945. She also was preceded in death by three sons, George Steckline Jr., Gilbert Steckline and Kenneth Steckline; and two daughters, Naomi Pack and Wahneetah Latchford. Survivors include a son, Lloyd Steckline of McKinney; a half sister, Freida Burleigh of Horsham, Pa.; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Donald R. Reid RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Donald R. Reid, 64, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was in Riverside National Cemetery. Mr. Reid was born in Amarillo and attended Amarillo High School School with the class of 1951. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving eight years with the Marine Corps. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Survivors include his wife, Yolanda Reid; five children, Donna O'Brian of Irvine, Ronald Reid of Jackson, Darrell Reid of Elsinore, and Brian Reid and Lisa Anderson, both of Huntington Beach; his mother, Mrs. N. Bernice Reid of Amarillo; a brother, Ivan T. Reid of Elsinore; five sisters, Wanda Sue Olson of Blue Springs, Mo., Mary M. Koch of Spring, Texas, Helen Marie Johnson of Arvada, Colo., Shirley Ann Stewart of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Denise Drum of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Evelyn Miller TEMPLE - Evelyn Miller, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Temple Garden of Memories. Arrangements are by Sheffield Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller was born in Falls County. She had been a resident of Temple for nine years, moving from Amarillo. She graduated from Rosebud High School and attended Hardin Simmons University. She married Lincoln Miller in 1934 at San Angelo. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence Miller and Alvin Miller. Mrs. Miller was a school teacher and also helped with the family business. Survivors include a son, Dennis R. Miller of Manvel; two daughters, Nancy Hale of Temple and Trisha Peel of Eldorado, Ark.; two brothers; three sisters; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
