Memorial services were in Vancouver by Davies Cremation and Burial Services of Ridgefield, Wash. Mr. Stevens was born in Rock Springs, Wyo. He was a journeyman electrician and had worked for Bechtel at Millstone Point, Conn. He was a member of the IBEW Local No. 602 and the Operating Engineers. He married Karen Stefanski in 1971 at Connecticut. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jennifer Stevens of Amarillo; his mother, Selma Stevens of Vancouver; two brothers, Wilson Stevens of Vancouver and John Stevens of Spanaway, Wash.; and two sisters, Delphia Slover of Pasco and Diana Bloom of Portland, Ore. Lawrence W. Rodgers Lawrence W. Rodgers, 85, of 3318 Western St., No. 117, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. James Garrett of Polk Street United Methodist Church officiating. Masonic graveside services by Lodge No. 1239 will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Rodgers was born in Garber, Okla. He served in World War II. He moved to Amarillo in 1920 and was a diesel mechanic for 28 years. He married Beulah Stovall in 1943 at Cheyenne, Wyo. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Palo Duro No. 1239, the Dallas Scottish Rite and Teamsters Local Union No. 577. He also was a lifetime member of the Amarillo Gun Club. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Ruth Morgan of Waco. The family requests memorials be to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Reba Carroll Guess Reba Carroll Guess, 88, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Larry Payne of Coulter Road Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Guess was born in Souwilpa, Ala., and moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1914. She married Oren O. "Buster" Guess in 1927 at Tulia. He died in 1989. She was a homemaker and a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church, Queen of the Plains Rebekah Lodge No. 276 and the A.E. Ashley Chapter No. 986 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Ross Guess of Amarillo; two daughters, Norma Williamson of Austin and Deedie Burton of Amarillo; a sister, Elora Riddle of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Cynthia Griffin Cynthia Griffin, 38, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 4, 1997. Mr. Smith was born in Petway, Robertson County. He attended school in Petway and Bremond and graduated from Bremond High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Jean Hawley in 1948 at Rochester. He farmed in Plainview and Lubbock before moving to Albany in 1982 from Pecos. He was a member of Albany Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; three sons, James Smith, Dusty Smith and Justin Smith, all of Albany; two daughters, Charlotte Cox of Keemah and Mamie Lester of Woodson; three brothers, Bud Smith of Dallas, Raymond Smith of Bremond and James Smith of Houston; four sisters, Mae Anderson and Faye Gorman, both of Dallas, Jesse Ganze of Houston and Marion Lyons of Kosse; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mr. DeSantiago was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and had lived in Cactus for the past four years. He was employed at the Monfort beef packing plant in the slaughter section. He married Ofelia Munoz in 1969 at Mexico. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jose DeSantiago Jr. of Fort Campbell, Ky., Gradalupe DeSantiago of Cactus, Enrique DeSantiago of Liberal, Kan., and Luis DeSantiago of the home; a daughter, Leticia Mendoza of Fort Campbell; two brothers, Ruben DeSantiago of Gruver and Manuel DeSantiago of Cactus; four sisters, Estafana Valensuela of Mexico, Cuca Lebario of Las Cruces, N.M., Juanita Romero of Childress and Maria Estela Rodrigues of Cactus; and seven grandchildren. Frank Castillo FRIONA - Frank "Pancho" Castillo, 53, of Clovis, N.M., a former Friona resident, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Templo Bautista with the Rev. Jose L. Najera, pastor, and the Rev. Donny Carrasco of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Castillo was born in Rocksprings. He married Mary Jo Maya in 1995 at Clovis. He had lived in Clovis for 24 years, moving from Friona. He was a member of Templo Bautista in Friona. He had coached men's softball for many years. George S. Clennan PERRYTON - George S. Clennan, 89, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Rex Nichol and the Rev. Jimmy McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Mr. Clennan was born in Independence, Kan., and had lived in the Perryton area since 1930, moving from Independence. He married Genevieve J. Bender in 1935 at Guymon, Okla. He served on the USS Hornet during World War II. He was manager of High Plains Gas in Perryton for 46 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the American Legion and the city council. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Winifred McCartney. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Clennan of Perryton; and two grandsons. Dinner will be served for family and friends at 5 p.m. Thursday at the church. Jimmie Allred HEREFORD - Jimmie Allred, 84, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Hereford with the Rev. Terry Crosby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mr. Allred was born in Amarillo and moved to Deaf Smith County shortly after his birth. He attended Hereford public schools and was elected captain of the basketball team when he was a junior in high school. After graduating from high school, he founded the Allred Oil Co. and was active with the company throughout his life. He retired after selling the company to his son. Mr. Allred was voted Citizen of the Year in Hereford. He was a member of the Hereford Lion's Club and the First Baptist Church. He also was active with the Hereford Gideons. Me married Mary Hogg in 1937 at Claude. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Clydene Clark of Houston and Marlene Durham of Brenham; a son, Lynton Allred of Austin; a sister, Lottie Anderson of Hereford; a brother, Cecil Allred of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Lindsey was born in Hollis, Okla. She married Truman Lindsey in 1943 at San Bernardino, Calif. He died in 1976. She had lived in Muleshoe since 1953, moving from Perry, Okla. She was the coowner of Lindsey Jewelry in Muleshoe from 1954 to 1988. She was a member of 16th & Avenue D Church of Christ, the Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce and the Muleshoe Jennyslippers. She had been working part time for Ambassador Greeting Cards. Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Shafer of Friona; a brother, Lloyd Curry of Hollis; and two grandchildren. Masten PLAINVIEW - J.B. Masten, 83, died Tuesday, March 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Family Life Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Masten was born and raised in Plainview. He attended school at Plainview and Running Water and graduated from Running Water High School. He played polo on the Plainview Polo Team from 1934 to 1938. He married Julia Tarwater in 1937 at Clovis, N.M. He did custom combining until 1968 and farmed in the Edmonson area from 1968 until retiring in 1992. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church and was active in the choir. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Bruce Masten of Minneapolis and Bill Reese Masten of Shallowater; two sisters, Edith Waits of Lubbock and Ofelia Clements of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Virginia Ellen Garrison Hardin SILVERTON - Virginia Ellen Garrison Hardin, 59, died Monday, March 3, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jess Little and Wendell Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hardin was born near Silverton and had been a lifelong resident of Silverton. She graduated with honors from Silverton High School. She was active in Home Demonstration work and was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. She also did various volunteer activities in the community. She married Buck Hardin in 1954 at Silverton. Survivors include her husband; a son, Wendell Hardin of San Antonio; three daughters, Ann Payne of Kyle, Linda Vernon of Silverton and Marilyn Cordell of Amarillo; two sisters, Jerry Sculley of Albany, Ga., and Kay White of Amarillo; a stepbrother, Brad Wilson of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. Sharon Roberts TULIA - Sharon Dee Nichols Roberts, 59, died Monday, March 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Central Church of Christ with Trey Morgan, pastor, and Jesse Hodge, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery at Happy by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Roberts was born in Lehman. She moved to Happy at an early age and graduated from Happy High School. She then graduated from West Texas State University. She married Bud Roberts in 1981 at Amarillo. She taught for one year at Dalhart, for one year at ISLIT in New York and for four years at Lubbock. She then moved to Tulia to teach. She taught for two years at Wink before retiring in 1981. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two stepdaughters, Deltah Henard of Wellington and Princess Gruben of Eldorado; her mother, Ollie Nichols of Happy; two brothers, Dean Nichols of Levelland and Lyndahl Nichols of Arlington; and five stepgrandchildren.
