Mrs. Welch was born in Pauls Valley, Okla. She moved to Dumas two years ago from Dallas. She was an engineer for Texas Instruments. She married Donald Eugene Welch in 1996 at Beaver Creek, Colo. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gary Brock of Dumas and John Brock of Florida; her parents, Viola and Alvin White of Dumas; a brother, Olin Browning of Maryland; five sisters, Margie Stephens of Taft, Calif., Janet Poole of Idalou, Minnie Green of Sunray, and Carol Rogers and Laura Gion, both of Dumas; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 311 W. 13th and 204 N. Meredith. Ruby Lee McMillan MEMPHIS - Ruby Lee McMillan, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Harvey Melton, pastor of Assembly of God Church in Estelline, and Rev. Loyd Riddlespurger of Hedley officiating. Arrangements are by Spicer Funeral Home. Mrs. McMillan was born in Estelline. She married Eugene E. McMillan in 1946 at Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She moved to Memphis in 1992 from Hereford. She was preceded in death by two sons, Alvin McMillan in 1982 and Garland McMillan in 1995. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Mary Hook of Clarendon, Veta Sturges of Amarillo, Patricia Brumbalow of Hereford, MaDonna Brandes of Hedley and Kathy Wilks of Memphis; two sons, Timothy McMillan of Hedley and David McMillan of Merritt, British Columbia, Canada; 12 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity. Billy Joe Young KRESS - Billy Joe Young, 64, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Kress Church of Christ with Jack McCall, minister, the Rev. Jeffrey Lee, pastor of First Baptist Church, and Ralph Biestel, former minister of Kress Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Kress Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Young was born in Tulia and raised in Kress. He graduated from Kress High School in 1952. He attended Texas Tech University and then joined the Army in 1953. After being discharged in 1955, he returned to Kress and had operated Kress Farm Store since that time. He was a member of Kress Church of Christ, the Tulia Country Club, the Men's Golf Association and the Hi Neighbor Committee and a past member of the Kress Booster Club. Mr. Young married Jo Ann Bennett in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam Perkins of Bergheim; two sons, Tim Young of Coppell and Ty Young of Boerne; his mother, Gladys Young of Kress; two sisters, Jackie Ritchey of Dallas and Charlene Little of Plano; and three grandchildren. Freddy Stockton QUITAQUE - Freddy Stockton, 58, died Monday Nov. 3, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Sisemore, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Stockton was born in Roswell, N.M. He had farmed and ranched in the Quitaque area all of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Estelline. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Ann Eddleman Stockton, in 1977; and a son, Jimmy Sherrill Stockton, in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Pinky Stockton; two daughters, Paula Gene Miller of Littlefield and Freda Ann Hughes of Quitaque; two stepsons, Matt Barrett of Quitaque and Neal Barrett of Lubbock; a brother, Jim Stockton of Matador; and eight grandchildren. Billy Herndon PERRYTON - Billy "Pood'' Herndon, 67, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. John Durham officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Herndon was born in Pampa. He had been a lifetime Perryton-area resident, moving between Perryton and Claremore, Okla. He married Betty Jean Lingerfelt in 1986 at Las Vegas. Mr. Herndon was a rancher. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Cutting Horse Association. He also was a judge for both associations. He was a supporter of the 4-H in Ochiltree County. He helped to start the 4-H horse and horse judging programs in Perryton. He also helped to build the Perryton Rodeo Grounds. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Denise "Des'' Merrell of Sedalia, Colo., Durenda "Rendy'' Pilcher of Perryton and Debbie Messenger of Dallas; and five grandchildren. Clara Janett Narron PAMPA - Clara Janett Narron, 88, a former Pampa resident, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, in Houston. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of First Baptist Church in Jacksboro, and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Narron was born in Moreland, Okla. She moved to Pampa in 1940 from Fargo, Okla. She lived in Pampa until moving to Houston in 1996. She married Thomas C. "T.C.'' Narron in 1927 at Moreland. He died in 1988. Mrs. Narron retired from First National Bank of Pampa in 1973 after 23 years of service. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Robert Narron of Houston; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgranddaughter. Mr. Coleman was born in Hereford and had been a lifelong Hereford resident. He was a farmer. He married Joanie Paetzold in 1975 at Hereford. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brandon Coleman and Brent Coleman, both of the home; a daughter, Kyla Coleman of the home; his parents, Bruce and Jo Coleman of Hereford; and a sister, Cindy Lemons of New Mexico. Amarillo Leroy Carlton McGee Leroy Carlton McGee, 80, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, in Orange. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Hamrick of Polk Street United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. McGee was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1935 and from Texas A&M University in 1940. He served with the Army in the Signal Corps during World War II. He was based at Riverside, Calif. In 1945, he moved to Canyon, where he farmed and ranched. He moved to Orange in 1948 to work for E.I. Dupont as an electrical engineer. He worked there for 36 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. McGee was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Alan McGee of Lumberton; a daughter, Carol Mounier of Kent, Wash.; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Boy Scouts of America, Three Rivers Council Dishman Center, Beaumont, Texas. Tim Mitchell Tim Mitchell, 35, of 518 W. Colorado St., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Mitchell was born in Amarillo and attended Amarillo Christian School. He had been a plumber most of his life and worked for R&M Plumbing. He received his journeyman license five years ago. Survivors include two brothers, Ronald Mitchell of Amarillo and Donnie Mitchell of Marietta, Ga.; his mother, Mary Joyce Provins of Amarillo; and his father, Paul Mitchell of Anaheim, Calif. Beatrice Elizabeth Benton Beatrice Elizabeth Benton, 79, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Temple Baptist Church with Richard Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Benton was born in Bryan County, Okla. She moved to Amarillo 46 years ago from Masterson. She married Charles Wesley Benton in 1946 at Durant, Okla. He died in 1982. Mrs. Benton retired as a clothes buyer for Sakowitz. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Joy Club and the Naomi Sunday School class. Survivors include two sons, Gene Benton of Alma, Neb., and Eddie Benton of Amarillo; a daughter, Charlene Dodson of Amarillo; a sister, Jo Phillips of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Taylor was born in Weatherford. She moved to Amarillo in 1943 from Hamilton. She was a homemaker and did volunteer work at the Harrington Discovery Center and numerous other civic activities. She married Jack Charles Taylor in 1939 at Dublin. He died in 1983. Survivors include a son, Larry Taylor of Amarillo; a daughter, Sherry Snyder of Amarillo; a sister, Estelle Bentley of Phoenix; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center. Kenneth Rey McCuistion Kenneth Rey McCuistion, 20, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 1997, in Korea. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Tascosa Road Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with John C. Hunt, 4th Ward Bishop, officiating. Burial will be in in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Full military honors will be by soldiers from Fort Hood. Mr. McCuistion was born in Amarillo. In 1996, he graduated from Palo Duro High School, where he was on the wrestling team. He was serving with the Army in Korea at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Phoutthaboupha McCuistion; a son, Bounthavy Chanthavilay of the home; his father, David Ray McCuistion of Amarillo; his mother, Lorenza Lopez of Amarillo; a brother, Miguel McCuistion of Amarillo; and a sister, Gaby Valle of Amarillo. The family will be at 2108 Heather. Oklahoma Frances Hutchison BOISE CITY, Okla. - Frances Hutchison, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, in Clayton, N.M. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mexhoma Church at Mexhoma with Jimmy Reese and Jeff Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Mexhoma Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Hutchison was born in Santa Fe, Kan. She moved with her family to Mexhoma in 1918. She attended school in Mexhoma and graduated in 1932 from Cimarron High School at Boise City. After high school, she attended Panhandle State University at Goodwell. She worked as a nurse in Guymon for Dr. Morris Smith. She married David Hutchison in 1938 at Boise City. They lived in Guymon from 1938 to 1942. During World War II, she helped on her father's farm. During this time she purchased her own farm. In 1957, she and her husband moved to Clayton, where they lived until 1971, when they moved back to their farm in Cimarron County. Mrs. Hutchison attended Mexhoma Church and was a member of First United Methodist Church at Clayton. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy Irene Hutchison. Survivors include her husband; two sons, David Hutchison of rural Boise City and Donald Hutchison of Dalhart, Texas; and five grandchildren. Betty Florence Cayton BOISE CITY, Okla. - Betty Florence Munday Cayton, 66, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Marella Cemetery with Dan Lawrence officiating. Arrangements are by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home of Texhoma. Mrs. Cayton was born in Ealing, Middlesex, England. She was baptized into the Church of England. She grew up in London and lived there through the end of World War II. She moved to the United States in 1946. They settled in Boise City, where she graduated from high school. After high school, she worked for the county clerk's office and for First State Bank of Boise City. She married Billy G. Cayton in 1959. They made their home in Boise City. Mrs. Cayton was naturalized as a United States citizen in 1976. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Phillip. Survivors include her husband; a son, Steven Cayton of the home; a daughter, Francine Heckman of Amarillo; and a half sister, Sylvia Shuman of Enid. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Clydellia Odallee Jiles BOISE CITY, Okla. - Clydellia "Clydie'' Odallee Jiles, 63, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church with Charlie May and Frank Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Jiles was born in Cimarron County. She attended school at Boise City, Plainview, Texas, and Kerrick. She married Roy Jiles in 1950 at Clayton, N.M. They lived in Germany while her husband was stationed there. Mrs. Jiles was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Linda Jiles. Survivors include two daughters, Patty Hiner of Boise City and Sharon Freeman of Broken Bow; two sisters, Nadine Drennan of Boise City and Rosetta Boatman of Dalhart, Texas; a brother, Floyd May of Maple Hill, Kan.; and four grandchildren The family requests memorials be to the Ronald McDonald House in Amarillo. Memorials may be left in care of the mortuary. Blanche Marie Shobe FORGAN, Okla. - Blanche Marie Shobe, 71, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forgan High School with Joe Organ officiating. Burial will be in Forgan Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Shobe was born near Bascom and attended school in Quinton. She lived in McAlester and Nowata before moving to Beaver in 1957. She also had lived in California, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia before moving to Beaver. She married Jerry Holland. She later married J.L. Shobe. Mrs. Shobe moved to Forgan in 1974 and opened the Depot Steak House. She operated it until 1981. In 1983, she began operating the Sunset Cafe. Survivors include two daughters, Jeri Lea Hodges and Willa Ritterbush, both of Quinton; two brothers, Luther Gray of Quinton and Ernest Gray of Magalia, Calif.; a sister, Jolene Smoot of Quinton; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. New Mexico Pauline Wilcox CLOVIS, N.M. - Pauline Wilcox, 91, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997. Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Mountainair Cemetery at Mountainair. Arrangements were by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Wilcox was born in Atchison, Kan., She married Gene Katt in 1923. They raised their family in Colorado. In 1958, she married Glen Wilcox. She lived much of her life in Tucson, Ariz., and Bisbee, Ariz. She played the marimba and traveled with the Barfield Parks Evangelistic Team for a number of years. She was a religious songwriter and poet. Mrs. Wilcox was preceded in death by a son, Bill Katt. Survivors include four sons, Eugene Katt of Apple Valley, Calif.; Robert Katt of Marble Falls, Texas; Jack Katt of Lewiston, Calif.; and Richard Katt of Tucson; a daughter, Betty Sue Walker of Clovis; two half brothers of California; a half sister of California; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren. Lucille Scott Hambleton PORTALES, N.M. - Lucille Scott Hambleton, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Portales Cemetery with the Rev. Darryll Tennefos, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hambleton was born and raised in Portales. She graduated from Portales High School in 1939. During World War II, she worked in the shipyards in California. Other than the time spent in California, she lived in Portales until about two years ago. For many years she had been a housekeeper for a number of families in Portales. Mrs. Hambleton was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Portales for nearly 70 years. She taught Sunday school for the 4- and 5-year-olds for more than 50 years. She married Mac Hambleton in 1960. He died in 1975. Survivors include a brother, O.D. Scott of Artesia; two sisters, LaVerne Scott Johnson of Roswell and LaVerba Scott Blandford of Conchas Dam; a stepson, Woodrow Hambleton of Albuquerque; a stepdaughter, Inez Hunter of Las Cruces; and two stepgrandchildren.
