Arrangements were by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Chandler was born in Graham and had lived in Amarillo all of his life. He retired from Santa Fe Railway. Survivors include a daughter, Sally Smiley of Amarillo; two sisters, Zelene Wiggins and Anita Wallace; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Minnie Lee Grace Minnie Lee Grace, 82, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Greg Waggoner, pastor of Bible Baptist Temple, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Dumas Cemetery at Dumas. Mrs. Grace was born in Dumas and had lived in Amarillo since 1955. She was a homemaker and a member of Golden Spread Ostomy Association and Bible Baptist Temple. She married Julian Paul Grace in 1934 at Amarillo. He died in 1972. She also was preceded in death by an infant son. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Lee Stickney of Amarillo; a son, Julian Kenton Grace of Midland; three brothers, L.S. Brown of Dumas, Tom Brown of Fort Worth and Jack Brown of Ozark, Mo.; and two sisters, Laura Mae West of Amarillo and Lucille Cook of Prescott, Ariz. The family will be at 718 Valley. Ballard Bennett Winkels Ballard Bennett "B.B.'' Winkels, 92, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in Plainview. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Drew Travis of First Presbyterian Church of Plainview officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Winkels was born in Mount Pleasant. He was a barber in Plainview for 54 years at Elk Barber Shop and Hilton Barber Shop. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Winkels, in 1974; and two sons, Bobby Winkels in 1969 and Ballard Winkels in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Bernyce Winkels; three stepdaughters, Gwen Cox of Many, La., and LaQuain Cox and Jeannetta Craven, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will be at 1426 N. Bivins. They request memorials be to Prairie House Living Center in Plainview. Odis L. Crowell Odis L. Crowell, 84, of 129 Parkview, died Thursday, June 5, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Lynn Garrett of First Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Flomot Cemetery at Flomot. Mr. Crowell was born in Flomot. He attended Amarillo College and received his bachelor's degree from Hardin Simmons University. He was an offensive tackle and defensive tackle for Chicago for two years. During the war he was a welder in a shipyard in California. After the war he was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers. He coached under Frank Kimbrough at West Texas State University. He also coached at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He came back to WTSU and coached for one year. He was a teacher at Amarillo College and South Plains College. He retired from the Brazos Port College in 1979. He married Wilma Richardson in 1941 at Glendale, Calif. Mr. Crowell was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and the Floydada Masonic Lodge. He was inducted in to the Football Hall of Fame at Hardin Simmons University in 1987. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Max E. Crowell of Denver, Stephen L. Crowell of Spring, Jimmy O. Crowell of Houston and Kent O. Crowell of Midland; a sister, Bonnie Nall of Hereford; and five grandchildren. The family will be at 129 Parkview. Vivian Delores Brewton Kennedy Vivian Delores Brewton Kennedy, 57, of 9306 Arlie, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Kennedy was born in Colorado and graduated from Portales High School in Portales, N.M. She married Richard T. "Rick'' Kennedy in 1958 at Portales. He died in 1996. Mrs. Kennedy lived in New York City for 10 years before moving to Roswell, N.M., in 1970. She moved to Amarillo in 1977 and was a restaurant manager here for several years. She also worked at restaurants in Pampa and Childress. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Richard Steven Kennedy of Abilene, and Robert Thomas Kennedy, Russell Scott Kennedy and Ronald Timothy Kennedy, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Nina McGreevey of Amarillo, Shirley Vavoudes of Dallas and Shari Torres of Adrian; a brother, Gary Brewton of Portales; and five grandchildren. The family will be at 9306 Arlie. Oklahoma Eugene Paul Estes CHEYENNE, Okla. - Eugene Paul Estes, 86, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Community Building at Reydon with the Rev. Marilyn Schellhamer officiating. Burial will be in White Rose Cemetery at Reydon by Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Mr. Estes was born in Verden. He spent his early years in Verden, Lindsey and Stillwater before moving to Durham in 1929. He then moved to Reydon in 1931. He married Berta Purcell Estes in 1931. Mr. Estes was a retired rural mail carrier and rancher. He was a member of Reydon United Methodist Church and was involved in many community activities in Reydon and Roger Mills County. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. After retiring, he and his wife traveled with the Wally Byam Air Stream Club. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Dudley of Waxahachie, Texas; two sons, Gordon Estes of Mobeetie, Texas, and Gary Estes of Cleburne, Texas; a brother, Leon Estes of Victorville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Ralph L. Hipp BOISE CITY, Okla. - Ralph L. Hipp, 76, died Thursday, June 5, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Derek Cox officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Hipp was born in Abbyville, Kan. He graduated from high school at Rolla, Kan. After high school he worked as a welder and machinist. He learned to fly and then joined the Army and served in World War II. After he was honorably discharged, he married Dena G. Newberry in 1946 at Hugoton, Kan. They moved to Boise City in 1948 and had lived there since. Mr. Hipp was a member of the Church of God in Elkhart, Kan., and the National Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Lyndon Hipp. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mickey Lynn Hipp of Boise City; a sister, Alice Brown of Fort Supply, Okla. Elsewhere J.R. Smith MATADOR - J.R. "Mutt'' Smith, 85, a former Matador resident, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in Plainview. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Matador with the Rev. James Pope, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Plainview, and the Rev. Sam Crosby, pastor of First Baptist Church in Paducah, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Smith was born in Cottle County. He moved to Matador from Paducah in 1952. He had lived in Plainview for the past seven years. He was an independent fence contractor, a Baptist and a veteran of the Army. He married Monita Spence in 1940 at Bakersfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by four sons, Walter Lynn Smith, Troy Dale Smith, Mark Smith and Robby Lynn Smith; and a daughter, Edna Elaine Smith. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jackie Royce Smith of Ruidoso, N.M., and Ronnie Smith, Don Smith and Johnny Smith, all of Paducah; six daughters, Peggy Krebbs of Amarillo, Darnell McGowan of Plainview, Nita Jo Shields of Greenville, Linda Plemmons of Fort Worth, Joy Martin of Lubbock and Teresa Smith of Atoka, Okla.; a brother, Neal Smith of Possum Kingdom Lake; two sisters, Louise Truelock of Paducah and Thelma Clark of Sulphur Springs; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. The body will be at First Baptist Church in Matador today from noon until service time. Elvin Seamon TYLER - Elvin Seamon, 79, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by John R. Harmon Undertaking Co. Mr. Seamon was born in Bivins. He lived in Amarillo most of his life until moving to Tyler. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include a sister, L.E. Seamon of Paris, Texas. Visitation will be at 3221 Pinehaven in Tyler. Area Ada Hollabaugh HEREFORD - Ada Hollabaugh, 98, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel with Dr. Tom Fuller of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hollabaugh was born in West Fork, Ark. She graduated from Prairie Grove High School in Prairie Grove, Ark. She moved to Texas in 1937 from Sabetha, Kan., and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1938. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a child-care provider. She received her 50-year pin from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary and was a 50-year member of Rebekah's Lodge. She married Clarence Hollabaugh in 1919 at Prairie Grove. He died in 1954. Survivors include two sons, William Hollabaugh of Lubbock and Raleigh Hollabaugh of Pittsburg, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He moved to Pampa in 1965. He married Kay Slater in 1965 at Pampa. Mr. Smith was a welder for Natural Gas Pipeline and retired in 1987 after 25 years of service. He was a member of Priest Park Church of God and Top O' Texas Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kim Etheredge of Virginia Beach, Va.; his mother, Laura Smith of Plano; a sister, Judy Smith of Plano; two brothers, Joel Smith of White Deer and Chadd Smith of Arlington; and two grandsons. Mr. Hand was born in Canyon. He was a farmer and rancher. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Happy Masonic Lodge. He was a former Happy School Board member and a Favorite Class Sponsor in the Happy school system from 1968 to 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Happy. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Sell was born in Harrison County, Mo. She was a former resident of Overland Park, Kan., and had been a Dumas resident since 1963. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Gamble's in Dumas before retiring in 1978. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Sell, in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Steele of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Don Sell of Ivy Bend, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 507 Cherry. Mr. Green was born in Vineyard, Wise County, and had been a resident of Donley County for most of his life. He married Naomi Olivia Morris in 1943 at Clarendon. He had been a farmer for most of his life. Mr. Green had served in the Army and was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge 700. He was a directors of Greenbelt Electric Co-op and was a past member of the Federal Land Bank board. He also served on the ASCS committee for many years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two sons, Bernard Joseph Green in 1983 and Lawrence Walton Green in April. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Patricia Friesen of Frisco, Katherine Williams and Beth Stepp, both of Clarendon, and Ellen Morehart of Fargo, Okla.; two sons, Robin Green of Lubbock and Jerry Green of Clarendon; a brother, Billy Jack Green of Canyon; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or a favorite charity. Douglas Carl Hays CHILDRESS - Douglas Carl Hays, 72, died Monday, June 2, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Johnnie Lott officiating. Mr. Hays was born in Childress. He served in the Navy on active duty for 20 years. He then entered the Reserves and served for 10 years. His most recent job was serving as a door greeter at Wal-Mart. He married Ann Ruggles in 1968 at San Diego. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Stephanie Mullaly of San Marcos, Calif., and Thelda Wright of Buckley, Mo.; a stepson, Rasco Edward Moore of Ashland, Ky.; two sisters, Nancy Hays of Childress and Ann Warren of Memphis; a brother, Leo Hays of Chula Vista, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Mary Garrison Burson PLAINVIEW - Mary Garrison Burson, 81, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Burson was born and raised in Quitaque. She graduated from Quitaque High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married Keltz Garrison in 1936 at Quitaque. They moved to Silverton and later lived in Post, Jayton, Farwell and Crosbyton. They operated Garrison Hardware and Furniture in Crosbyton. They moved to Plainview in 1955 and owned and operated Garrison Furniture and Appliance until 1969, when they purchased Plainview Credit Bureau. They operated it until 1974. Mr. Garrison died in 1984. She married Max Burson in 1987 at Plainview. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Plainview Women's Forum, the Plainview Travel / Study Club and the Knife and Fork Club. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ray Garrison of Irving and Chip Garrison of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Beverly Eggert of Sugarland; a stepson, Erral Gentry of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, E.J. Hamilton and Norman Hamilton, both of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Terry Dale Martin PLAINVIEW - Terry Dale Martin, 46, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in East Mound Cemetery at Matador with Earl McDonough, uncle and Church of Christ minister from Plainview, officiating. Arrangements are by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Martin was born in Matador. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1969 and from automotive technician school in Denver. He worked in Lubbock from 1970 to 1974, when he moved to Dallas. He moved to Plainview in 1988. He was a Chevrolet auto parts department manager. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Brandi Martin of Dallas; a son, Brian Martin of Lubbock; his mother, Vernie Jameson of Plainview; two sisters, Donna Patton of Abernathy and Doris Martin of Lubbock; and a brother, Danny Martin of Lubbock.
