Mr. Porcher was born in San Augustine. He was a farmer. He was a retired deacon and elder at First Presbyterian and served on the board of the Salvation Army. He married Annie Florence Pankey in 1935 at Anton. She died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Muller of Littlefield; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Floy Arnold SUDAN - Floy Arnold, 89, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Sudan, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sudan Cemetery with Cliff Hargrove, pastor of First Baptist Church of Sudan, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Arnold lived in Sudan a number of years before moving to St. Petersburg. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a garden club member, member of the Red Cross, a hospital volunteer and a homemaker. She married James P. Arnold in 1927 at McKinney. He died in 1983. Survivors include two sons, Dr. James P. Arnold Jr. of St. Petersburg and Ben C. Arnold of Lubbock; a sister, Ruby Lacey of Ardmore, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements are by Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler. Mr. McBrayer was born in Fort Worth. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Ralph Meacham MIDLAND - Ralph Meacham, 79, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Oklahoma James Kenneth Dixon BEAVER, Okla. - James Kenneth Dixon, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997. He graduated from Knowles schools. Mr. Dixon was a farmer and a Mason. He married Gladys Kelley in 1934 at Las Vegas. She died in 1992. Eva Geraldean Fowler GUYMON, Okla. - Eva Geraldean "Jerry'' Fowler, 80, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. She attended Hooker schools and graduated from Hooker High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was active in Presbyterian Women and the Presbytery-Anns. She was a 50-year member of the Rose Garden Club and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, No. 419 in Guymon. She married Paul R. Fowler in 1936 at Woodward. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Lee Fowler of Guymon; a daughter, Becky Pracht of Guymon; a brother, Donald Bostwick of Port Angeles, Wash.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Union Center Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker. Mrs. Briles was born in Overbrook, Kan. She and her husband farmed east of Adams until they retired in 1974. She moved to Alva in 1978 and then to Hooker in 1986. Mrs. Briles was a member of the Union Center Methodist Church near Adams. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She married Clyde E. Briles in 1935 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1993. New Mexico Melecio Paiz TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Melecio Paiz, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Paiz had been a resident of Tucumcari for the past two months. He was a retired railroad employee and a Catholic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adela, in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Gonzales of Tucumcari; three sons, Tom Paiz and Abelino Montano, both of Denver, and Jerry Paiz of Ruidoso; a brother, Benito Paiz of Denver; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at Dunn Memorial Chapel from noon today until service time Monday. Gloria White CLOVIS, N.M. - Gloria White, 72, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Mark Welch and Frank Kelley officiating. Arrangements by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. White was born in Nash, Okla. She spent her formative years in Capron and Alva, Okla. She graduated from Alva High School and attended Northwest State Teachers College in Alva. She married Kenneth White in 1947 at Oklahoma City. The couple moved to Clovis in 1949. She was a member, pianist, music director, teacher, treasurer and public relations representative for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was chairperson of the March of Dimes for many years. She organized the Crippled Children's Organization in Clovis, as well as the YMCA in Clovis. She was the top YMCA volunteer from 1975 to 1983. She also was the coordinator of the Annual Chili Dinner for many years. Mrs. White organized the Concerned Citizens for Human Rights, served as chairman of the Heart Association, was a member of the local Cancer Society, and was on the board of the Salvation Army. She served the Democratic Party as state chairwoman, precinct vice-chairperson, precinct secretary, and women's chairwoman for the Democratic Women's Club on the state central committee. She received numerous service awards including the Governor's Award and the Beta Sigma Phi Clovis chapter Woman of the Year in 1997. Mrs. White was a homemaker and personal secretary for her husband. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joe White of Clovis and Ken White Jr. of Pueblo, Colo.; three daughters, Judith Marie Page of Spokane, Wash., Margaret White of Albuquerque, N.M., and Charla Sue Coleman of Concord, Maine; and 16 grandchildren. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1951. He attended the University of New Mexico for two years. He married Shirley Irene Neunschwander in 1952 at Clayton. Mr. Oldfield was a past board member of Clayton First United Methodist Church and Clayton Medical offices. He was a board member and past president of New Mexico School Transportation Association. Roy S. Walker CLOVIS, N.M. - Roy S. Walker, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bill Sylskar and Kenneth Broad officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories at Clovis by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Walker was born in Clovis. He attended Clovis public schools and graduated from Clovis High School in 1928. While in high school, he was a member of the band and the school's first state championship football team. He attended Southern Methodist University and graduated from Chillicothe Business College. He married Geno Oliver in 1931 at Clovis. Mr. Walker worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department from 1931 to 1933 and later served as chief clerk of the motor transportation division of the New Mexico State Corp. Commission. He later returned to Clovis to establish the Roy S. Walker Oil Co. and became a jobber for the Gulf Oil Co. He was a city commissioner for Clovis from 1953 to 1959. He served as director of the New Mexico Office of Price Stabilization (OPS) during the Korean War and later became state director for New Mexicos' federal housing administration where he served for 10 years. He later was appointed regional operations officer of the Federal Housing and Development Office in New York and served for 10 years. After retiring from federal government service, he was asked to serve as director of Community Development Agency in Clovis. During this period, The Roy S. Walker Community Center was named in his honor. He also was named Clovis Citizen of the Year. He was an active member of the Democratic Party. He was a past president and charter member of Clovis Rotary Club. He was one of the men to initiate the Clovis "Committee of Fifty'' and served for 20 years on its Washington committee. He was a member of Clovis Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Clovis First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gene Walker and Lyle Walker; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Slack was a longtime resident of Tucumcari, and a member of Center Street United Methodist Church. She lived a short time in Brighton, Colo. She worked as a secretary for the city of Amarillo for 17 years. She was Baptist. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Wisocki was born in Superior, Wis. He had lived in Amarillo for 47 years. He and his wife, Norma, married in 1945 at Amarillo. Mr. Wisocki was a Catholic and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife and one sister, Doris Zabalski of Superior, Wis. The family will be at 804 S. Kentucky. Lester Whitaker Lester Whitaker, 96, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Bob Sawyer of First United Methodist Church of Tucumcari, N.M., officiating. Burial will be Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Tucumcari. Mr. Whitaker was born in Hughes Springs, Texas, and had lived in Amarillo more than 20 years. He moved to Amarillo from Nara Visa, N.M. From 1928 to 1973, he was a Standard Oil agent. He also was a rancher. He was a member of Nara Visa Masonic Lodge and Nara Visa United Methodist Church. He married Thelma Farley in 1932 at Clayton, N.M. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Clark. Survivors include his wife; a son, Winston Whitaker of Albuquerque; a daughter, Donna Dismukes of Austin; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He moved from Eastland to Amarillo in 1985. Mr. Harris worked for German Car Co. He started Jack's Lawn Maintenance in 1986 and retired in 1995. He worked for National Health Laboratories in Amarillo for nine years. He was a member of Amarillo South Church of Christ. He married Nancy Hale in 1961 at Stratford. She joined the First Christian Church in 1914. She was the head of the beginners department for 17 years, Sunday School teacher, C.W.F. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa. Mrs. Hilbert was born in Indian Territory and had lived in the Borger area since 1938. She moved to Phillips in 1938 and to Borger in 1984. She was a homemaker. She married Austin Harvey Hilbert in 1938. He died in 1975. Survivors include a son, Harvey Hilbert of Borger; two sisters, Hilda Niemier and Midge Gillmore, both of Woodward, Okla.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center in Amarillo. Fred Nicholson PERRYTON - Fred Nicholson, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Steve Ulrey officiating. Burial was in Ochiltree Cemetery. Mr. Nicholson was born in Putnam, Ind., and was a longtime Perryton resident and a farmer. He was Methodist. He is survived by a sister, Imogene Grells, of Rochdale, Ind. Wayne Clements DALHART - Wayne Clements, 90, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Ray M. Guy, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Clements was born in Kokomo, Texas. He graduated from Gorman High School. He moved to Dalhart in 1931 and purchased the Dalhart Hatchery in 1936. He was a member of the Dalhart Rotary Club, served on the Dalhart City Council for 11 years and was a member of First Christian Church. In 1991 he was honored as Gentleman Pioneer. He married Bradye Duncan in 1928 at Carbon. She died in 1982. He married Belle Selley in 1984. She died in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Dee Prater of Liberal, Kan., Mary Wallace of Dalhart and Stella Walker of Junction City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. C.W. Dale LAZBUDDIE - C.W. "Curley'' Dale, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mr. Dale was born in Izard County, Ark. He moved from La Crosse, Ark., to Lazbuddie in 1960. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Lazbuddie. He married Eula Arnold in 1956 at Lunenberg, Ark. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dwayne Dale and Rickie Dale, both of Lazbuddie; a daughter, Pat Randolph of Lazbuddie; two sisters, Vona Morser of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Jean Teagarden of Sunnyside, Wash.; and four grandchildren. Mr. Fanisher was born in Elk City, Okla., and moved to Borger in 1953 with his family. He served in the Marines at Guam and Iwo Jima during World War II and was one of the men guarding and protecting the men at the famous "Raising the Flag.'' He worked for Phillips for 30 years and retired in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Frances Fanisher; a daughter, Lucille Dow; two sons, Larry Fanisher and LeRoy Fanisher; two brothers, Arthur Fanisher of Arapaho, Okla., and Earl Wayne Fanisher of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Fannie Fanisher, Caroline Armstrong, Ruby Winn and Drucilla Ferris, all of Elk City, Okla; and seven grandchildren. Stephenson FRITCH - George I. Stephenson, 77, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Church of Christ with Bob Heil and Brian Boverie officiating. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Stephenson worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. as a maintenance supervisor and instrument foreman for 44 years. He married Melva Doris Williams in 1964 at Borger. She died in 1996. Survivors include his mother, Julia Stephenson of Skellytown; three sons, Kent Stephenson of Borger, and Steve Stephenson and Rick Wood, both of Fritch; two brothers, Jesse E. Bonnie Julia Dennis Everts Bonnie Julia Dennis Everts, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Everts was born in Oklahoma. She married Ed Everts in 1935 at Harman County. He died in 1972. The couple moved to Amarillo in 1943. Mr. Everts built the church where the service will be held. Mrs. Everts moved to Houston in 1990 due to declining health. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Langley of Chandler, Ariz., and Sondra Stanton of Houston; two brothers, Robert Dennis and Glenn Dennis, both of Rosewell, N.M.; a sister, Judy Quinn of Worcester, Maine.; four grandchildren; and three grandchildren. Mr. Bourland was born in Hulver, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a service station attendant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayfair, in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Don Bourland of Childress and Jerry Lee Bourland of Shamrock; two daughters, Oletha Ann Gray of Big Spring and Fairy Lou Smith of Shamrock; a sister, Lilla Mae Short of Paducah; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Marty Randall SPEARMAN - Marty Randall, 62, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Union Church with the Rev. Jerry Pollard of Clarendon officiating. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Church. She married Loye Randall in 1963 at Spearman. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sarah Shufeldt of Spearman and Jeannie Morris of Panhandle; two sons, David Lewis of Brownwood and Robbie Randall of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Lillian Whitford of Spearman; a brother, Nick Nemsgern of Dumas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
