Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with T.A. Williams of Ash & Carver Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. McNeil was born in McAlister, Okla. He moved from Tulia to Plainview, where he was a welder and operated heavy equipment for High Plains Pavers. He married Lou Willie Lawrence in 1975. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carolyn Wafer of Tulia; two stepdaughters, Betty Acy of Plainview and Jo Ann Glenn of Kingsland, Ark.; two stepsons, Ronnie White and Donnie White, both of Abilene; a brother, Herman McNeil of Chicago; two sisters, Cleta McNeil of McAlister and Ezada Jones of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Roy L. Sawyer PLAINVIEW - Roy L. Sawyer, 84, died Sunday, April 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Sawyer was born and raised in Little, Okla., and attended Little schools. He married Florence Carrell in 1941 at Norman, Okla. After their marriage, they lived in Apache, Okla., where he farmed and operated a grocery store. They moved to the Edmonson community in 1945 and farmed until 1956, when he retired and moved into Plainview. He operated a rural mail route from 1957 to 1967 and then began working with the city of Plainview in the Parks and Recreation Department. He retired in 1977. Mr. Sawyer was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and the Farm Bureau. While living in Edmonson he served as president of the Edmonson Co-op Gin. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sandy Sawyer of Plano, Carrell Ann Simmons of Denton and Judy Weatherford of Plainview; a son, Tom Sawyer of Austin; a brother, Ira Sawyer of Apache, Okla.; a sister, Edna Mae Noe of Anadarko, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Eula Effie Battey FLOYDADA - Eula Effie Battey, 85, died Monday, April 7, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with Mike Holster officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Battey was born in Tioga. She attended school at Center. She married Fred Battey in 1957. He died in 1976. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Vida Martin of Amarillo; a brother, Burl Huckabee of Floydada; five stepgrandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church. Anna Louise Tucker TULIA - Anna Louise Spradley Tucker, 96, died Monday, April 7, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Tucker was born in Mount Vernon and had lived in the Tulia community since 1920. She married George W. Tucker in 1921 at Tulia. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Tucker and Tommie Tucker. She taught school for six years and was employed at Swisher Memorial Hospital for 20 years as a nurse's aide. She was a member of the Tulia Senior Citizens and First Baptist Church. She received the "Oldest Resident of Swisher County'' award for 1995-96. Survivors include two daughters, Ludene Grush of Moreland, Okla., and Jeanette Poole of Amarillo; five sons, Jerry Tucker of Tulia, Ted Tucker of Mesa, Ariz., Valton Tucker of Vivian, La., Jan Tucker of Winlock, Wash., and Tem Tucker of Amarillo; a sister, Mildred Sharp of San Angelo; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. A.C. Carthel FLOYDADA - A.C. Carthel, 79, died Sunday, April 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Duckworth, pastor of West College and 3rd Street Church of Christ in Lockney, and Mike Holster, music minister at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Carthel was born in Lockney. He attended school at Lockney, graduating in 1935. He married Dorothy Byars in 1937 at Lockney. He retired as a Phillips 66 butane dealer in Floydada. He was a 50-year member of the Masons and a member of the Shriners and West Side Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Johnson, in 1973. Survivors include his wife; a son, A.C. "Alden'' Carthel of Snyder; a daughter, Cindy Jefferies of Floydada; five brothers, Cap Carthel, Cecil Carthel and Lavirn Carthel, all of Lockney, Aaron Carthel of Floydada and Ray Gene Carthel of Texarkana; three sisters, Velma Harrison of Lockney, Dee Ritchey of Amarillo and Lillian Rogers of Lovington, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Schneider, 51, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 4, 1997, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Memorial services will be at a later date in Amarillo. Arrangements in Colorado Springs were by Shrine of Remembrance of Colorado Springs. Mr. Schneider was born in Ellsworth, Kan. He moved to Colorado Springs in March from Amarillo, where he had lived since 1980. He was an employee of Delco Electric Co. of Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, Shirley A.; two sons, Wade Schneider and Troy Schneider, both of Minnesota; two stepsons, Robert Carter of Amarillo and Kenneth Carter of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Denney Schneider and Harold Schneider, both of Minnesota; and four grandchildren. La Gayla Park La Gayla Park, 47, of 6211 Ridgewood Drive, died Sunday, April 6, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Jimmy Phillips and the Rev. He had been a cashier at North State Bank. He was a member of the North Amarillo Rotary Club and a member and deacon of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Clema Hacker and Valaree Pigg, both of Amarillo; and three brothers, John P. Morris of Amarillo, David Morris of Van Buren, Ark., and Joe Morris of San Antonio. Black of Muleshoe; his mother, Barbara Evins Black of Amarillo; two brothers, Wade Black of Amarillo and Kevin J. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Paducah, Texas. Mrs. Cobb was born in McNairy County, Tenn. She moved to Altus in 1991 from Wellington, Texas. She was a Baptist church member. She married Weldon James Cobb in 1921 at Childress County, Texas. He died in 1954. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Rex Cobb who died in infancy and W.G. Cobb in 1956. George Kuykendall Wade HOLLIS, Okla. - George Kuykendall "G.K.'' Wade, 82, died Saturday, April 5, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Farr officiating. Burial will be in Louis Cemetery by Carter Stewart Funeral Service. Mr. Wade was born on the Wade home place southwest of Gould, when the area was old Greer County. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He began farming in the Bethel area in 1956. After retiring in 1986, he devoted much of his time to serving on the Harmon Memorial Hospital Board. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He married Jo Parr in 1947 at Quanah, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Chuck Wade. Survivors include three daughters, Yolonda Folson of Amarillo, Nan Hubbard of Elk City and Sue Wade of Enid; a son, Kirk Wade of Gould; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. New Mexico Cipriano B. Marez CLOVIS, N.M. - Cipriano B. Marez, 67, died Saturday, April 5, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Rev. Daniel Balizan. Burial will be in Mission Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Marez was born in Fort Sumner. He married Marcella Barela in 1952 at Clovis, where they were lifetime residents. He was a carpenter in the construction industry and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ray Marez of Cathedral City, Calif., Gary Marez of Garden Grove, Calif., Robert Marez of Corona, Calif., and Manuel Marez of Clovis; three daughters, Barbara White of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Terri Aragonez and Christina Marez, both of Orange, Calif.; two brothers, Paul Marez and Juan Marez; three sisters, Pauline Sena, Louisa Marez and Patsey Marez; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Stanley Roybal CLAYTON, N.M. - Stanley Roybal, 30, a former Clayton resident, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, in Colorado. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by Louis Montoya, deacon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by the Rev. John Brasher, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springer. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Roybal was born in Albuquerque. He was a 1985 graduate of Clayton High School. He served in the Air Force for three years. He had lived in the Denver area since 1991. For the past year, he had lived in Littleton, Colo., where he was employed as a fiber optics technician for TCI Cable. He was a student at Denver University. Survivors include his parents, Louis and Connie Roybal of Clayton; two brothers, Jeff Roybal and Ron Roybal, both of Las Cruces; a grandmother, Angelita Lopez of Clayton; and his fiancee, Glenda Young of Littleton. Alberto Adan Gonzales Jr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Alberto Adan "Don'' Gonzales Jr., 47, died Monday, April 7, 1997. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in The Chapel. Mr. Gonzales had worked in the maintenance department for Memorial Hospital and Plains Regional Medical Center. He also was employed by Froz-Fruit. He was a member of Iglesia Bautista Belen. He married Irene Gonzales in 1980 at Clovis. Canyon Thomas Ray Jones Thomas Ray Jones, 34, of Canyon, died Sunday, April 6, 1997. Cremation and arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle, of Amarillo. Mr. Jones was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Odessa High School at Odessa. He served for four years with the Army. He was a prison guard at the Clements Unit. He returned to Canyon a year ago. Crowley, minister, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Duffau, Erath County. She moved to Motley County with her family in the 1920s. She married Ed D. Smith in 1938 at Matador. He died in 1968. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Ed D.
