Lowrey Harold D. Lowrey, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Scott Herbert, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Lowrey was born in Eros, La., and had lived in Amarillo since 1943. He was a retired clerk from the Rock Island Railroad, and was a cabinetmaker. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Lucille Lowrey in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Twana Medart of Lubbock; a son, Rodney Dale Lowrey of Amarillo; a sister, Oddie Faye Brooks of Monroe, La.; and two granddaughters. Martha Gunnels Martha Sue Gunnels, 85, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Gunnels was born in Graham, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church and San Jacinto Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Z. Gunnels in 1994, two sons, Raphel Z. Gunnel in 1986 and Mark D. Gunnels in 1995, and one grandson, Dennis C. Mullins in 1994. Survivors include a son, Arthur Paul Gunnels of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; two daughters, Anita Billington of Lubbock and Patsy Mullins of Tahlequah, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today . J.M. Martin Bilderback J.M. Martin Bilderback, 87, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Jay Graham, singles minister of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Bilderback was a native of Hollis, Okla. He married Trilby McCracken in 1931 at Sayre. He moved from Pampa to Amarillo in 1943. He was a retired welder. He worked for the state of Texas as a boiler inspector. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976; a son, Bob Bilderback in 1961; a daughter, Joy Bilderback in 1952. Survivors include two sons, Maryon Bilderback of Amarillo and Eddie Bilderback of Lubbock. The family will be at 1811 Hondo. Elsewhere C.C. Brooks ROARING SPRINGS - C.C. "Preacher" Brooks, 79, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Roaring Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Stovall and the Rev. Keith Brooks, officiating. Burial will be in the Brooks Family Cemetery near Roaring Springs. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Brooks was born in Dickens County. He married LaRue Warren in 1938 at Roaring Springs. He had lived in Meadow from 1945 to 1983. He owned and operated Meadow Oil Co. and Meadow Implement Co. He returned to Roaring Springs in 1983. He was a farmer and a rancher. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, C.W. "Bud" Brooks in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Watson of Ralls; a brother, Milton Brooks of Roaring Springs; seven sisters, Delores Smallwood and Earle Price, both of Lubbock, Patricia Edwards, Geraldine Skaggs and Genelle Carpenter, all of Palo Pinto, Ruby Whitaker of Brownfield, and Mary Ann Avara of Denver City; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Area Jessie Hickson BORGER - Jessie "Molly" Hickson, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. No funeral service will be scheduled. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hickson was born in Leonard, Texas. She married W.M. Hickson in 1947. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She moved from Dennison to Borger in 1981. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and a stepdaughter, Juanita Bennett. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Nelson of Borger; six stepdaughters, Wilma Miller of Sherman, Lila Roberts of Tom Bean, Dortha Haworth and Evelyn Lilly, both of Fort Worth, Ruth Ellison of Cleburne and Geneva Cooper of Plainview; and one brother, Jerry Reed of Gordonville. J.T. Newton PANHANDLE - J.T. "Tommy" Newton, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Fellowship Church with the Rev. John Pratt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Newton was a native of Ellis County. He moved to Panhandle in 1921. He served in the Army during World War II and was a retired postal clerk. Survivors include a sister, Ada Simmons of McLean and several nieces and nephews. John L. Seaton MULESHOE - John L. Seaton, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Lazbuddie Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Seaton was born in Pottawatomie County, Okla. He moved to Muleshoe in 1928. He married Novalene Rink in 1943 at West Camp in Bailey County. He was a farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996. Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Scoggin of Muleshoe, Johnece Clark of Mauriceville, and Olena Gerhardt of Houston; a sister, Laura Marsh of Texline; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Fred Lipham FLOYDADA - Fred Lipham, 70, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Floydada with the Rev. Darwin Robinson and the Rev. Art Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock. Arrangements are by MooreRose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Lipham was born in Wedowee, Ala. He attended school in White Flat, Texas. He married Helen Thomas in 1955 at Clovis, N.M. He moved from Lubbock to Floydada in 1959. He was the owner of Lipham Dirt & Paving Contractor. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Floydada and American Indian Christian Fellowship Church of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Lipham and Arnold Lipham. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Vick of Houston, Teresa Hart of Lubbock and Pam Holmes of Floydada; five brothers, Julian Lipham of Floydada, Norman Lipham of Alamogordo, N.M., Leroy Lipham and Doyle Lipham, both of Aspermont, and Wayne Lipham of Weatherford, Texas; three sisters, Nelda Wayner of Ozona, Wanda Willard of Uvalde, and Ida Ewing of Pasadena; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dodson Church of Christ with Vance Hunt and Bob Garton of Dodson Church of Christ, and Frank Duckworth of Lockney Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Dodson Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Hunt was born in Collingsworth County. He graduated from Dodson High School in 1939. He was an Army veteran and had served in World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He married Jo McKinney in 1941 at Collingsworth County. He retired in 1980 after 30 years of service as a postmaster. He also was a farmer, former mayor and city secretary of Dodson. He was the secretary for Dodson Cemetery Association and served on the Dodson School Board. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eddie Hunt of Crockett and Tommy Hunt of Dyersburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Vance Hunt of Dodson and Kenneth Hunt of Red Oak; two sisters, Erma Lee Duckworth of Lockney and Marilyn Garton of Hollis, Okla.; five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Dodson Cemetery Association. Hazel E. Robinson PAMPA - Hazel E. Robinson, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Allen, retired pastor of Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Robinson was born in Crowell. She moved to Pampa in 1946. She married Keith Robinson in 1958 at Amarillo. She was a member of Briarwood Full Gospel Church and had been a volunteer for Meal on Wheels for seven years. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cynthia Dawn Deaver in 1993. Survivors include her husband; a son, Elijah Slate Jr. of Pampa; two daughters, Carol Deaver of Pampa and Shirley Maddox of Miami, Texas; three sisters, Rudell Taylor of Pampa, Jimmie Lou Stevens of Hobbs, N.M., and Gussie VanMeter of Lubbock; a brother, Gail Everson of Pampa; five grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Ida Edwards GRUVER - Ida Edwards, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Gumfroy, pastor, and the Rev. Jerry Moore, pastor of Gruver United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Edwards was born in Chickasha, Okla. She married Roy L. Edwards in 1936 at Duncan, Okla. She moved to Gruver in 1948. She was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Evalyn Dahl of Gruver; a sister, Betty Clark of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Ida Edwards Memorial at First Christian Church. The body will be available for viewing from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Ray Brim PLAINVIEW - Ray Brim, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m Tuesday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Max Browning, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Brim was born in Mays, Okla. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview High School. He married Lou Dell Zuber in 1941 at Portales, N.M. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, he was a prisoner of war at Stalag XVII B, until his liberation in 1945. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. He returned to Plainview after the war and was the director of transportation for Plainview Independent School District until his retirement in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1962. Survivors include a daughter, Lou Ann Miller of Marble Falls; a son, C.L. Brim of Amarillo; and two grandsons.
