Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Center Point Cemetery at Saint Jo with Larry Gist of Lubbock officiating. Mr. Karbo was born in Russell, Minn. He moved to Pampa in 1953 from Wichita Falls. He was a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge 966, Coteau Masonic Lodge 244 of Russell and the El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory. He also was a member of First Baptist Church and the Everymans Bible Class. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Pampa American Legion Post. Mr. Karbo retired from Hoechst Celanese after 25 years of service. He married Nona L. Armstrong in 1944 at Wichita Falls. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ole Karbo of Pardeeville, Wis., Howard Karbo of Round Rock and Kent Karbo of Pampa; a sister, Bernice Wirtjes of Russell; and four grandsons. Jimmy Don Anders CHILDRESS - Jimmy Don Anders, 53, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997. Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rotary Bowl at Fair Park in Childress. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Anders was born in Shamrock and raised in McLean. He had lived in Childress for six years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served two tours. He retired from the Army after 22 years and had received numerous awards including the Gallantry Cross. Mr. Anders was employed at the T.L. Roach Prison Unit at Childress for six years as a corrections officer. He married Leta Burleson in 1965 at Clarendon. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Don Anders of Childress and Michael David Anders of Mangum, Okla.; a sister, Jeanne Caho of St. Louis; and a brother, Johnny Anders of Amarillo. Mrs. Pesina was born in Monclova, Mexico. She lived in Brownfield before moving to Dimmitt in 1953. She married Desi Pesina in 1930 at Brady. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. Mrs. Pesina was preceded in death by a son, Fermin Pesina, in 1963. James Clifton Moffett CLARENDON - James Clifton "Jake'' Moffett, 78, died Monday, July 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Seale, pastor, and the Rev. Chris Downer of Clarendon officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Moffett was born in Clarendon and had been a lifetime Clarendon resident. He married Lora Mae Seaton in 1940 at Clarendon. He was a farmer for more than 40 years and was employed by the city of Clarendon for 17 years before retiring. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ona Mae Brogdon of Clarendon; a son, James Carroll Moffett of Mobeetie; two sisters, Lois Seaton of Amarillo and Nadine Mulanax of Petersburg; five brothers, Curtis Moffett of Clarendon, Troy Moffett of Sherman, Hubert Moffett of La Junta, Colo., Cluade Moffett of Wichita, Kan., and Royce Moffett of Springfield, Colo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. James Lon "Jim'' McCarty, who died June 24, 1972, at the age of 26, while serving during the Vietnam War, was buried Monday. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Tamplen of Kingswood United Methodist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements were by by Lamb Funeral Home. Mr. McCarty was born in 1946 at Pampa. He was the son of Naomi McCarty and the late Hershal McCarty. He was an honor graduate with the McLean High School class of 1965. He also was a 1970 honor graduate at Texas Tech University. He enlisted and was commissioned in the Air Force in 1969. He was a pilot in Vietnam, flying an F-4 Phantom fighter. Military awards that he had received are the Distinguished Achievement Award, both in primary and basic training; the Purple Heart; the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters; and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. McCarty married Rebecca Jackson in 1967 at El Paso. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McLean. Survivors include a son, Kevin McCarty of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; his wife, Rebecca McKeown of Bogota, Colombia; his mother, Naomi McCarty of McLean; and a brother, Joel McCarty of Dallas. Lillie Marie Cranford FLOYDADA - Lillie Marie Cranford, 72, died Monday, July 7, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Trinity Church with the Rev. Henry Russell officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Cranford was born in Paducah and attended school there. She married Troy B. Cranford in 1941 at Paducah. They moved to Floydada in 1952 from Matador. Mr. Cranford died in 1990. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Trinity Church. Survivors include four daughters, DarLenda Marquis of Floydada, Glenda Rogers of Amarillo, Loretta Evans of Denton and Venita Hall of Plainview; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Cruz was born in San Buenaventura, Coahuila, Mexico. He moved to Plainview from Mexico in 1965. He was a member of the Catholic church. He farmed for Jerrell Cate. Survivors include a friend, Jerrell Cate of Plainview. A. Paine Dalton PLAINVIEW - A. Paine Dalton, 86, died Sunday, July 6, 1997, in Canyon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Roy C. McClung, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Dalton was born in McGregor. He moved to Hale County in 1920 and lived in the Ellen community. He attended school in McGregor and Ellen. He began farming in Ellen at an early age with his father. He married Willa Dean Eldrod in 1935 at Plainview. He continued to live and farm in Ellen. He moved into Plainview in 1953 and retired from farming in 1978. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was chairman of the deacons and church treasurer for 14 years. He also served on the pulpit committee and taught the Junior Boys Sunday School class for many years. Mr. Dalton was a charter member of the Plainview Knife and Fork Club and was a member of Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife of Canyon; two sons, Jimmy Dalton of Conroe and Tommy Dalton of Petersburg; and a granddaughter. Oklahoma Merle Elizabeth McCamon SAYRE, Okla. - Merle Elizabeth McCamon, 94, died Sunday, July 6, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Chapel with the Rev. Mark Little officiating. Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery by Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Mrs. McCamon was born in Berlin, Okla. She attended school at Belmont. She married Edger Vivan McCamon in 1919 at Sayre. They lived in the Berlin community, where Mr. McCamon farmed. After his death, Mrs. McCamon moved into Sayre in 1965 and to Elk City in 1993. She had received her 50-year pin in the County Extension Club and was a member of the Berlin Quilting and Community Clubs. She was a longtime member of the Berlin Methodist Church and played the piano and sang in the choir. After the church closed, she moved her membership to Elk City United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCamon also was preceded in death by three sons, Dale Ray, Melvin and Alonzo; a daughter, Eula Martin. Survivors include two sons, Glen McCamon of Elk City and Bill McCamon of Amarillo; four daughters, Anna Lee Kirk of Texhoma, Helen Cannon of Cheyenne, Ruth Montgomery of Las Cruces, N.M., and Sue and Joe Weaver of Holcomb, Kan.; a sister, Neva Merrifield of Sayre; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Toothman was born in Cowden, Ill., and had been a Canyon resident for the past 30 years. He retired from Bell Helicopter. He was a Navy veteran. Mrs. Burnett was born in Columbus, Ohio. She married William W. Burnett in 1945 at Columbus. They moved to Clovis in 1959. Mr. Burnett died in 1993. Mrs. Burnett was a homemaker. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church and a past member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, David Burnett and Jessie Burnett, both of Clovis; and a granddaughter. Amarillo Richard C. Ross Richard C. Ross, 77, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 7, 1997. Mr. Ross was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime Amarillo resident. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1936 and attended Texas A&M University in 1942. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and attained the rank of first lieutenant. He was a pilot during World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars, the American Theatre Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal. He was involved in battles and campaigns in the Central Pacific, Western Pacific and Eastern Mandates. Mr. Ross owned and operated the Ross Hotel for many years as well as being involved in ranching. He was a member of Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849, a charter member of the Lubbock Consistory of the Scottish Rite, Amarillo Council No. 134, a member of Khiva Shrine Temple, a life member of the Khiva Shrine Drum Corps and a member of the Oasis Shrine Club in Hereford. He also was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Deborah Ross of Cody, Wyo.; and a son, Richard W. Ross of Dallas. He served as a crew chief in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had been the owner of City Mattress at Clovis and had worked for Anderson Mattress in Amarillo. He married Dorothy Seals in 1940 at Big Spring. She died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Fogerson of Odessa; a brother, Hiram Patterson of Wickenburg, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 4210 E. 18th Ave. Evelyn Moseley Evelyn Moseley, 77, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 5, 1997. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Moseley was born in Bonham. She lived in Lubbock for more than 50 years. She worked for Methodist Hospital in Lubbock for more than 33 years as the supervisor of the auditing department. She moved to Bedford in 1994 from Amarillo and recently had returned to Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Long of Bedford; three sisters, Alma Wilson of Abernathy, Velma Payne of Lubbock and Edith Hill of Linley; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery by Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Mrs. Neblett worked with her husband, Sterling A. Neblett, at Sanco Inc., a mechanical contracting firm they formed and operated for more than 30 years. They were active in the Mechanical Contracting Association of Texas, the Mechanical Contracting Association of America and the Bellaire Rotary Club. Mrs. Neblett was a longtime member of the Presbyterian church. She also volunteered as a host at Memorial Southwest Hospital for the past two years. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her children, Sterling A. Neblett of Conroe, Stewart L. Neblett of Austin and Charles W. Neblett of Houston; a brother, Brunson McLeroy of Fort Worth; a sister, Bonnie Horan of Princeton, N.J.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Smith NORWALK, Calif. - Hershel W. Smith, 73, died Monday, June 2, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lockney Cemetery at Lockney, Texas, with the Rev. Tommie Beck of First United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation and burial will be by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney. Mr. Smith was born in Stonewall County, Texas. He served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific from 1943 to 1945. He attended college in San Francisco and studied law enforcement there. He worked in several law enforcement positions including deputy for Sheriff B.O. Hawkins and investigator for the U.S. Immigration Department and the U.S. Treasury Department. He also worked for the Lubbock Police Department in Lubbock, Texas, and the Downey Police Department in Downey. He had been a resident of the Bledsoe community since 1928, moving from Oklahoma. He married Edna Earl Cagle in 1942 at Morton. Mr. Lewis was a farmer and a rancher. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a veteran of the Navy and had served on the USS Currituck, the Navy's last seaplane tender. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Russell West, in 1989. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Bill Rogallo. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, La., by the Rev. Jules Speyrer. Burial will be in Doucet Cemetery in Jennings by Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Mr. LeJeune was born in Jennings and had been a resident of San Antonio. He was an antique dealer in Texas and Louisiana. He ranched in New Mexico, South Texas, Mexico and Wyoming and was a past director of the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association. He served on the board of trustees for St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio and was a chairman for the April in Paris Ball that benefited Children's Hospital. He also was a committee director for St. Anthony's Hospital Benefits. Survivors include two daughters, Shonda LeJeune Loredo of Austin and Bennie Colette LeJeune of Dallas; five brothers, J. Byron LeJeune, Brennon P. LeJeune and Dwayne T. LeJeune, all of Eunice, La., Phil G. LeJeune of Elton, La., and Al LeJeune of Roanoke, La.; four sisters, Emily Doucet and Alice Claire Hinyub, both of Jennings, Therese Wallace of Richardson and Catherine Marceaux of Kaplan, La.; his foster parents, Walter "Uncle Son'' and Azeline "Aunt Shug'' Guillotte of Jennings; and a grandson.
