Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Cox was born in Muskogee, Okla. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1940 and attended Texas Tech University. She was employed with Drs. Nichols, Groom, Nicklaus, Urban and Pierce for 15 years. She was an active member of Bridge House. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, in 1983. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Roy Vaughan and Robert Mason Vaughan, both of Amarillo, and Stephen Douglas Vaughan of Dallas; a sister, Lillian Gill of Sun City, Ariz.; and a grandchild. The family requests memorials be to a favorite children's charity. Oscar Lundegreen Oscar Lundegreen, 96, of Rt. 6, Box 120, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Lundegreen was born in Leon, Iowa, and had lived in Amarillo for 94 years. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Lundegreen, in 1977. Survivors include three daughters, Ida Wester of Guymon, Okla., Peggy Hart of Amarillo and Marylene Harness of San Angelo; three sons, Asa Lundegreen, Gene Lundegreen and Perry Lundegreen, all of Amarillo; a sister, Hope Johnson of Amarillo; a brother, J.R. Lundegreen of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Ms. Ihne was born in Burlington, Iowa. She moved to Clarksville, Tenn., from Burlington in 1964. She moved to Grand Island, Neb., in 1966 and to Amarillo in 1974. She married Richard Ihne in 1950 at Davenport, Iowa. He died in 1986. Ms. Ihne was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, LuAnn Kime of Amarillo, Susan Yenne of St. Cloud, Minn., and Carol Ihne of Pampa; a son, Roger Ihne of Houston; a brother, Wilbur Peckham of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 4403 Clearwell St. New Mexico Faye Hayhurst PORTALES, N.M. - Faye Hayhurst, 80, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Portales Cemetery with Wayne Baker officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hayhurst was born in Blackwell, Texas, and spent the early years of her life in the Blackwell area. She married Melton K. Hayhurst in 1933 at Blackwell. They made their home in Durango, Colo., and later in Belen. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Truth or Consequences in 1970 and to Portales in 1980. Her husband died in 1987. Mrs. Hayhurst was a member of Brazos Street Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Hayhurst of Athens, Ala., and Roger Hayhurst of Butte, Mont.; a daughter, Shirley Smith of Portales; a sister, Muriel Pruitt of Fort Davis, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Robert Culvey TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Robert "Bob'' Culvey, 62, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller, minister, officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Santa Fe by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Culvey was born in Lock Haven, Pa. He was employed as a cook for the Tucumcari Truck Terminal for 23 years. He served in the Air Force for six years and was discharged in 1959. He was a member of the Arch Fitzsimmons Post American Legion, the Tucumcari Elks Club and the Apache Wells Lions Club. He also was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Culvey; four sons, Robert Culvey and Terry Culvey, both of Connecticut, Michael Culvey of Georgia and Allan Culvey of Tucumcari; two daughters, Kathy Culvey of Alabama and Carla Culvey of Las Cruces; three stepdaughters, Sue Bogart and Jeanette Teakell, both of Tucumcari, and Annett Radford of Oklahoma; three stepsons, Sammy Johnson of California, Ray Rucker of Virginia and Beaver Littell of Tucumcari; a brother, Vincent Earl Culvey of Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Velma Pauline Southern TYRONE, Okla. - Velma Pauline Southern, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colo., a former Tyrone resident, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Tyrone Cemetery with Kyle Gregory Speed, grandson, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Southern was born in Haviland, Kan. Her family moved to Tyrone in 1921. She graduated from Tyrone High School in 1932 and attended Northwestern College at Alva from 1932 to 1933. She married O.B. Southern in 1934. She moved to Pomona, Calif., in 1935 and lived there until 1944, when she moved to Hereford, Texas. After the death of her husband in 1979, she moved back to Tyrone. Mrs. Southern was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Speed; two sons, Gary Phillip Southern and Merle Warren Southern Sr.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the Tyrone Cemetery. Joe I. Mans GUYMON, Okla. - Joe I. Mans, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church by the Rev. Scott Adams. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Mans was born in Andale, Kan., and had been an Oklahoma Panhandle area resident since 1928. He married Eleanor C. Renner in 1929 at Conway Springs, Kan. They moved to Guymon from Texhoma in 1945. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Neises. Mr. Mans was involved in farming most of his life. He retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include two sons, Fred Mans of Amarillo and Jim Mans of Indianapolis; two daughters, Alice Watkins of Guymon and Beth Longbrake of Cushing; a sister, Caroline Aday of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Matt Mans of Andale; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Harold Harvey TUCSON, Ariz. - Harold Harvey, 71, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by the family. Mr. Harvey was born in Happy, Texas. He lived in the Texas Panhandle for many years. Survivors include his wife, RaeDelle; a brother, Homer Harvey of Canyon, Texas; two daughters, Cindy and Becky; and three grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Shattuck Memorial Cemetery at Shattuck, Okla., with Dr. Jene Miller of First United Methodist Church of Arnett, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Kretz was born in Lehigh, Kan. He married Mary Meier in 1919 at Shattuck. She died in 1924. He married Beulah Chambers in 1926 and moved to Pampa. She died in 1995. Mr. Kretz operated a cafe in Shattuck. He worked for Texaco and retired after 35 years service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pampa and the Men's Fellowship Class. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Pampa Senior Citizens. Survivors include two daughters, Opal Bradley of Whittier, Calif., and Billie Oliver of Las Vegas; a sister, Leona Godbout of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. Joe B. Duncan BORGER - Joe B. Duncan, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Fairlanes Baptist Church with the Rev. Art McAninch, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Duncan was born in Durant, Okla., and had been a Borger resident for 45 years. He was an employee of Phillips Philblack Plant and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. He married Ida Shoemake in 1938 at Bennington, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe W. Duncan of Pampa and Kenneth W. Duncan of Lewisville; a daughter, Lou Stevens of Borger; a brother, Huell Duncan of Durant; five sisters, Anna Lou Towne of Clara, Okla., Allie Cullar of Waco, Vallie Bradford and Pearl Powers, both of Sherman, and Rudel Jones of Durant; five grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. The Rev. Herschel L. Thurston HEREFORD - The Rev. Herschel L. Thurston, 95, of Ute Park, N.M., a former Hereford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in West Park Cemetery with Dr. Jordan Grooms of Amarillo and Dr. Tom Fuller, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Rev. Thurston was born in Indian Territory. He married Hazel Smith in 1922. She died in 1980. He married Josephine Pierce Burrage in 1982. Rev. Thurston was the pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hereford from 1960 to 1966. He was a 73-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Plainview and a member of United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory in Lubbock, where he was a Red Cap and a Blue Cap. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Thurston of Denver City; two daughters, Ann Williams of Plano and Norma Ellis of Fort Worth; and seven grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Cimarron United Methodist Church tornado fund or a favorite charity. John Drew Knoll SHAMROCK - John Drew Knoll, 61, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Calvary Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Knoll was born in Shamrock. He had spent the last six years in Shamrock, moving back from California, where he lived for 17 years. While in California, he was a musician, a horse trader and jeweler. He served in the Army and was a member of the military police in Germany. He was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church. Survivors include his mother, John Faye Green of Shamrock; a son, Mark Page of Weatherford, Okla.; a daughter, Denna Regan of Hollis, Okla.; a brother, Joe Frank Knoll of Shamrock; a sister, Joan Inman of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. George Virgil Dorman WHEELER - George Virgil "Bus'' Dorman, 83, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Church of Christ with Bill Morrison, minister, and Tommy Seay of Round Rock officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery at Shamrock by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Dorman was born in Wheeler County and had been a lifelong Wheeler County resident. He married Myrtle Green in 1933 at Hollis, Okla. He played semi-pro baseball at Twitty from 1932 to 1933. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1934, he took the team from Apache, Okla., to the state tournament. He then played at Beaumont and Lake Charles, La., before moving to Amarillo. Mr. Dorman was an original member of the Amarillo Gold Sox professional baseball team. He played with them from 1939 to 1941 and played in Mexico in 1942. His professional baseball career ended in Little Rock, Ark., in 1944. In 1947, he served for one year as the unofficial coach of the Amarillo High School baseball team and led the team to the state tournament. In 1978, Mr. Dorman was inducted into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame and was presented the Special Achievement Award. He was awarded the Pioneer Spirit Award by the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce in 1996. Mr. Dorman moved to Wheeler and was elected as Wheeler County sheriff, serving from 1951 until retiring in 1976. He was a founding member of the Shamrock Sheriff's Posse and a member of the Texas Sheriff's Association. He also was a member of the Wheeler Athletic Booster Club, the Wheeler Kiwanis Club and the Shamrock Booster Club. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Yolanda Williams of Portales, N.M., and Becky Case of Wheeler; a son, Danny Dorman of Wheeler; a sister, Viola Carver of Amarillo; four brothers, B.F. Dorman and Jerry Dorman, both of Pampa, Charles Dorman of Grand Junction, Colo., and Don Dorman of Granbury; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons. Ben Moss MEMPHIS - Ben Moss, 73, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Tom Posey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Spicer-Myers-Long Funeral Home. Mr. Moss was born in Ely. He married Peggy Jean Rampy in 1944. He was a member of the Memphis Masonic Lodge and the Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years. He also was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Moss of Yukon, Okla.; a daughter, Laura Sue Stevens of Stinnett; a sister, Rebecca Moss Clark of Memphis; two brothers, Robert Moss and James Moss, both of Memphis; and four grandchildren. Lloyd D. Anderson TULIA - Lloyd D. "Sonny'' Anderson, 59, of Clarendon, a former Tulia resident, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Auten, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Anderson was born in Borger and raised in Tulia. He was a cowboy and a saddlemaker. He had worked as a cowhand in Swisher County for several feedlots. Survivors include two daughters, Becki Matthews of Tulia and Deana Weavers of Amarillo; parents, Edythe and Harvie Kinser of Tulia; two sisters, Marilyn Barnett and Shannah Kinser of Tulia; two brothers, Dale Anderson of Fritch and Leon Anderson of Wildorado; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Nadine Haile Martin CLARENDON - Nadine Haile Martin, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, and the Rev. Rob Seale, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Martin was born in Hutchinson County and had been a resident of Donley County since 1919. She married Clyde Gibson "Shine'' Martin in 1936 at Clarendon. He died in 1981. Mrs. Martin was a hairdresser for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lane of Clarendon and Ann "Marti'' Blasingame of Paris, Texas; a son, Clyde H. Martin of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Edwin Hutcherson MEMPHIS - Edwin Hutcherson, 89, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Spicer-MyersLong Funeral Home. Mr. Hutcherson was born in Salisbury. After graduating from Memphis High School, he attended Wichita Falls Junior College and Texas Tech University. He played football at both colleges. He married Mildred Beckum in 1934 at Sayre, Okla. She died July 20. He also was preceded in death by a son, Bob Hutcherson, in 1981. Mr. Hutcherson was a longtime farmer. He was a county commissioner for 24 years before retiring in 1977. He also was gin manager of the Paymaster Gin for several years. He was a member of the Methodist church and served on the board of stewards. He also served on the board of the REA and on the Memphis School Board for many years. Mr. Hutcherson was a Mason and a member and president of the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He served as president of the Hall County Society of Crippled Children and Adults and served with the Easter Seal Foundation when the society was affiliated with Easter Seal Inc. He was instrumental in the establishment of Hall County Hospital. He also helped with senior citizen housing. Survivors include a daughter, Lera Kate Powell of Plano; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Methodist church. Alma Kenmore DIMMITT - Alma Kenmore, 81, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Kenmore was born in Sweetwater. She lived in Ruidoso, N.M., before moving to Dimmitt in 1987. She married Gene Kenmore in 1937 at El Reno, Okla. He died in 1986. Mrs. Kenmore was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Thursday Bridge Club. Survivors include two sons, Harlan Kenmore of Anthony, Kan., and Joe Kenmore of Ruidoso; five brothers, P.O. Goodwin of Dimmitt, Johnny Goodwin of Beaver, Okla., Gene Goodwin of Lubbock, Vance Fowler of Roswell, N.M., and A.W.
