Services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Javier Cruz, deacon at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Leal was born in Robstown. He married Juanita "Janie" Rios in 1957 at Corpus Christi. He was a heavy equipment operator at Caprock Feeders and had been employed there for 17 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Anita Mariscal and Delia Baker, both of Dalhart; four brothers, Pedro Leal II, Arnulfo Leal, Daniel Leal, all of Corpus Christi, and Ruben Leal of Dalhart; three sisters, Lupe Sanchez of Robstown, and Elva Mata and Palmira Trujillo, both of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Vera Turner DUMAS - Vera Turner, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Street Church of Christ with Ben Mereness, minister of Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Turner was born in Russett, Okla., and had been a resident of Dumas since 1965. She was a cashier for K-Bob's Steakhouse for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Street Church of Christ. She married LeJeune Turner in 1946 at Matador. He died in 1976. Survivors include a son, Butch Turner of Dumas; a daughter, Jan T. Edwards of Amarillo; a brother, Doyle Barham of Kress; a sister, Lillie Sperry of Quitaque; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. The family will be at 413 N. Meredith. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. David Richardson PAMPA - David "Dave" Richardson, 65, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Chandler was born in Dierks, Ark., and raised in Turkey and Quitaque. She graduated from Quitaque High School. She moved from Quitaque to Tulia in 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of Tulia Church of Christ and Tulia Senior Citizens. She married W.C. "Bill" Chandler in 1935 at Silverton. He died in 1978. Survivors include three daughters, Sib Workman of Tulia, Trish Elliott of Dimmitt and Kathie Freeman of Farmington, N.M.; two sons, Bill Chandler of Bedford and Ron Chandler of Lubbock; a sister, Edna Driskill of Lubbock; two brothers, John Young of Tulia and Joe Young of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. James Alexander Sr. PADUCAH - James Alexander Sr., 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997. Savas Martinez Armendariz Jr. PAMPA - Savas Martinez Armendariz Jr., 21, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, in Guymon, Okla. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at 525 S. Somerville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church by the Rev. Rosendo Herrera, associate pastor. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Armendariz was born in Borger. He was a lifelong resident of Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1995. He had worked for D.E. Rice Construction for the past four months. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Yesenia Armendariz of the home; a son, Adrian Hernandez of the home; his parents, Sabas and Celia Armendariz of Pampa; two brothers, Ricardo Armendariz and Rene Armendariz, both of Pampa; a sister, Anna Anguino of Pampa; and his grandfather, Gavino Armendariz of Houston. The body will be available for viewing at 525 S. Somerville. Grace McClendon DALHART - Grace McClendon, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997. Mrs. McClendon was born and raised in Seymour. She moved to Dalhart in 1937. She married Jack McClendon in 1940 at Liberal, Kan. She worked for Montgomery Ward and JC Penney in Dalhart for more than 20 years. She was a longtime member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Larson, in 1995. He was engaged in the farming and dairy industry until retiring. He was a member of the Associated Milk Producers Inc. He married Lucille Braddock in 1929 at Nazareth. She died in 1996. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a 50-year fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus No. 2654. He also had been a member of the Order of Forresters for more than 50 years and a member of Nazareth Senior Citizens. Survivors include three sons, Edwin Schacher and Bob Schacher, both of Nazareth, and Eugene Schacher of Lazbuddie; five daughters, Catherine Hochstein, Leona Maurer, Georgiann Kleman and Margie Albracht, all of Nazareth, and Rosalie Davis of Los Altos, Calif.; a brother, Johnny Schacher of Nazareth; 48 grandchildren; and 80 great-grandchildren. She married Phillip N. Gray in 1915 at Platte, S.D. He died in 1957. She married Ervin Nielsen in 1958. He died in 1993. She was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Marie Gray in 1977 and Dixie Jean Gray in 1937; and by a son, Sherman Grant Gray, in 1989. She was a Dumas resident from 1952 to 1967 and a Lynwood, Calif., resident from 1967 to 1985. She moved to Amarillo in 1985. She married James Corbin in 1941 at Denver. She was a supervisor for Cole of California Garment Industry for 15 years. She was preceded in death by a son, James E. Corbin Jr. Survivors include her husband; a son, Gerald Corbin of Saginaw; a daughter, Elizabeth Collins of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Eder moved to Amarillo 40 years ago from Trinity, Colo. She married Bruce Eder in 1937 at Lamar, Colo. She was a retired cook and a member of North Beacon Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Flora McMillian and Wanda Coffelt, both of Amarillo; a son, Earl Bruce Eder of Amarillo; four sisters, Aura Bell Hamilton of Granada, Colo., Julia Bruce of Holly, Colo., Mary Dell Sweetin of Canoga Park, Calif., and Annie Cole of Kit Carson, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Burial will be on the Gonzales Ranch at Gonzales Ranch, N.M. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Urioste was born at Gonzales Ranch. He married Manuelita Baca in 1952 at Villanueva. They moved to Clovis in 1960 and he worked for Swift Packing Plant. He later worked for the city of Clovis for about 10 years. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Frances Avila, Valerie Chavez and Pauline Espinoza, all of Clovis; three sons, Alex Urioste, Allen Urioste and Robert Urioste, all of Clovis; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Marjorie Nadine West CLOVIS, N.M. - Marjorie Nadine West, 74, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1997. Mrs. West was born in Barry County, Mo. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Vernon Devenport in 1979 and Roy Rozell. Lella Mae Pape PORTALES, N.M. - Lella Mae Berry Pape, 78, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Central Christian Church with the Rev. Terry Maloney and family members officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary Inc. Mrs. Pape was born in Gustine, Comanche County, Texas. She moved with her family by wagon and rail to Runnels County, Texas, settling near the community of Crews, north of Ballinger. She married Arnis Wilson Pape in 1936 at Talpa, Coleman County, Texas. Her husband was a Methodist minister and together they served several churches throughout West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. They moved to Roosevelt County in 1949. Her husband died in 1957. After the death of her husband, she worked for four years for the Arvel Branscum family and Drs. Bentley and Mercedes Altizer as a housekeeper and baby sitter. In 1964, she was employed by Eastern New Mexico University in the housekeeping department where she worked for 15 years before retiring in 1979. She had been a member of Portales Church of the Nazarene for 42 years and served in various offices on the board of trustees, the missionary society and as district convention delegate for her church. She was recognized by the Portales Community in 1958 as the Mother of the Year. She married Leonard Ditzler in 1985. He died in 1992. Survivors include 13 children, Mae Wofford of Waka, Texas, Leeman Pape of DeSoto, Texas, Jack Pape of Colorado Springs, Colo., Earl Pape of Gaithersburg, Md., Bettye Grimes and Isaac Pape, both of Houston, David Pape of Manhattan, Kan., Paul Pape of Bastrop, Texas, West Pape of Fort Collins, Colo., Mary Ryan of Portales, Phillip Pape of Lancaster, Texas, Jesse Pape of Whiteface, Texas, and Laura Robbins of Portales; twin brother, Lawrence Berry of Houston; a sister, Buena Belle Curbo of Ballinger, Texas; three stepchildren, Marilyn Horn of Rankin, Ill., Tim Ditzler of Pena, Ill., and Danny Ditzler of Hanover Park, Ill.; 41 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Gideon Scripture Fund or New Mexico Christian Academy. Charles M. McCord GALLUP, N.M. - Charles M. "Jerome" McCord, 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. David Jones, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger, Texas. Mr. McCord was born in Frost, Texas, and was a former longtime Borger resident. He was the owner of McCord Brothers Grocery at Borger. He was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club and was one of the founding fathers of Wesley United Methodist Church at Borger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paralee, and a son, Jack McCord. Survivors include a brother, John McCord of Stinnett, Texas; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Elsewhere Lila Lill BAYTOWN - Lila Lill, 71, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Stan Sullinger officiating. Arrangements are by Navarre Funeral Home. Ms. Lill was born in Panhandle and had lived in Baytown for 43 years. She retired as a school teacher with 29 years of service with the Goose Creek Consolidated ISD in Baytown. She was a member, Sunday school teacher and WMU leader at Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of the Baytown Area Retired Teachers Association, the NEA, the AARP and Delta Kappa Gamma Epsilon Psi. She also was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association. Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Lill Martin of Austin and Florence Sue Lill Bogue of Ozark, Ark. The family will receive friends at Ms. Lill's home from 3 to 5 p.m. today.
