Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. McDaniel was born in Nashville and had lived in Pampa since 1938. He worked for Humble Pipeline for 38 years before retiring in 1964. He also owned and operated Panhandle Motor Co. from 1940 until 1994. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. McDaniel married Mary Wilson in 1963 at Panhandle. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn McClure of Pampa; a stepdaughter, Carol Jean Kotara of White Deer; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church choir robe fund. Etta Vivian Baker PAMPA - Etta Vivian Baker, 83, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at McLean. Mrs. Baker was born in Coffeeville, Miss. She married E.W. Baker in 1934 at Wheeler. They had been residents of Pampa since 1946. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kathy Palmer of Pampa; a son, Bob Baker of Desdemona; two brothers, Wes Langham and T.R. Langham, both of Amarillo; three sisters, Pansy Mounce of McLean, Kathleen Johnson of California and Juleen Reel of Oregon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Johnny Kemp PLAINVIEW - Johnny Kemp, 54, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Kemp was born and raised in Hale Center. He graduated from Hale Center High School in 1961. He attended electrical training school in Fort Worth. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1965. In 1966, he began working as a draftsman for TP&L in Brownwood. He moved to Decatur in 1976 and to Plainview in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Singles Sunday School Class. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Kemp of Bedford and Cindy Kemp of Dallas; his father, Lawson Kemp of Plainview; a brother, Richard Allen Kemp of Bronte; and a sister, Gail Thrasher of Plainview. Oklahoma Leticia Sanchez Garcia HOOKER, Okla. - Leticia Sanchez Garcia, 97, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, in Liberal, Kan. Wake services were at 7 p.m. Monday in Roberts Brothers Funeral Home with Leo Hulm officiating. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery. Mrs. Garcia was born in Juan de Dios, N.M. She was a legal heir to the Atrisco Land Grant of 1692. She married Geronimo Garcia in 1919 at Cuervo. They moved to Guymon before making their home in Hooker in 1941. Mr. Garcia died in 1978. She also was preceded in death by a son, Marcos Garcia. Mrs. Garcia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Fast and Sadie Fief, both of Hooker; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cousins was born in Dombey. She spent her early years in the TyroneBaker area. She then moved to Liberal. She married Ernest A. Cousins in 1934 at Liberal. They lived in Liberal until moving to Guymon in 1956. Mr. Cousins died in 1989. Mrs. Cousins was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was active with the Presbyterian Women and the Thursday afternoon Bible study group. She was a longtime volunteer for the Memorial Hospital of Texas County auxiliary and the No Man's Land Information Center. Survivors include a son, Ernest E. Cousins of Sedona, Ariz.; and a grandson. New Mexico Florencio Saiz PORTALES, N.M. - Florencio Saiz, 76, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Peter Jaramillo officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, Inc. Mr. Saiz was born in Redamadero, near Encino. He was an Army veteran of World War II. After the war, he returned to his home and worked as a sheepherder on various ranches in the area. He married Lorenza Pena in 1946 at Vaughn. In 1951, he moved his family to Portales and began doing farm work. He later worked at Worley Mills. In 1957, he began working at Cannon Air Force Base as a groundskeeper. He worked at the base for 28 years before retiring in 1985. Mr. Saiz attended House of Prayer Fellowship. He was preceded in death by a son, Juan Ernesto Saiz, in 1965. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Saiz of Midland, Texas; a daughter, Martha Manzanares of Portales; two brothers, Manuel Saiz of Portales and Emilio Saiz of Albuquerque; a sister, Clementa Apodaca of Vaughn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Edna Nye CLAYTON, N.M. - Edna Nye, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hass Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Nye had lived most of her life in the Union County area. She was born in Amistad and graduated from Clayton High School with the class of 1928. She then graduated in 1930 with a teaching degree from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She married Ellis Lyndon Nye in 1934. They farmed and ranched in the Mount Dora area for many years. Mrs. Nye also taught at several area schools. In 1958, she assumed the duties of postmaster at the Mount Dora Post Office. She became a rural route carrier in 1971 and retired from the post office in 1982. In 1986, Mr. and Mrs. Nye retired to Clayton. Mr. Nye died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Carolee Staman of Scottsbluff, Neb.; two sons, Dick Nye of Mount Dora and Bob Nye of Albuquerque; a brother, Kenneth Brandenburg of San Carlos, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Groom by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Wagner was born in Elyria, Ohio. He was a farmer and carpenter. He lived in Groom until 1976, when he moved to Amarillo. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wauneeta Wagner, in 1974; and a daughter, Jerrye Perez in 1978. Mr. Wagner married Lavena Anne Vandergriff in 1976 at Amarillo. Elizabeth Benton Fowler Elizabeth Benton Fowler, 92, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997. Mrs. Fowler was born in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of Les Temps Study Club, Amarillo Symphony Guild, Amarillo Museum of Art and Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. She also was a member of C.W.F., PEO, the Ester McCrory Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Town Club. She became a member of First Christian Church in 1914. She had been head of the beginners department for 17 years. She also was a Sunday school teacher, C.W.F. president, an elder, church financial secretary and visitation chairman for many years. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by two husbands, DeWitt T. Leachman in 1944 and Russell N. Fowler in 1994; and a son, Dr. Robert Leachman in 1996. Survivors include a son, W.D. William Irvin Molesworth William Irvin Molesworth, 73, of Lake Tanglewood, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997. Mr. Molesworth had lived at Lake Tanglewood for 27 years. He was a volunteer at Bethesda Outreach for many years and was a member of Lake Tanglewood Community Church. He married Winona Allen in 1944. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State Teachers College. She married Harold Rhodes in 1953 at Shamrock. She moved from Canyon to Amarillo in 1971. Mrs. Rhodes taught for many years before retiring from the West Texas State University library after 20 years. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, including a twin sister, Vilma Cupell, and Lillian Davis and Thelma Chapman, all of Amarillo; and a brother, Bennie Joe Cupell of Amarillo. After serving in the Army during World War II, he was employed by Colorado Interstate Gas Co. for 44 years. He retired in 1983 as plant superintendent at the Bivins Station. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Lee Gustafson Lewis, in 1987. He married Mary Shipp in 1988. Survivors include his wife; eight daughters, Jeri Gardner of Houston, Janet Walters of Moore, Okla., Lynn Haley and Gwyn Dobbs, both of Lubbock, Wynn Bergstresser, Sidney Thompson and Kelley Gustafson, all of Amarillo, and Martha Tyrock of Temple; two sons, Ronald Lewis and Denis Lewis, both of California; a sister, Wanda McLaughlin of Garland; 11 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Don Travis of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery at Booker by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Fluitt was born in Canyon. She grew up in Hereford and lived in Claude from 1981 to 1992, when she moved to Amarillo. She was a piano teacher. She married Nelson Pierce in 1922. He died in 1947. She married R.V. Fluitt in 1951. He died in 1968. Mrs. Fluitt was a Methodist. Survivors include two daughters, Jean McCubbin of Stillwater, Okla., and Peggy Anderson of Amarillo; a son, Bill Pierce of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Virginia Trindle of Spearman and Mae Wayland of Arnett, Okla.; a stepson, Wayne Fluitt of Booker; a sister, Floy Oliver of Lubbock; a brother, Reese Hough of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Terry County Memorial Cemetery by Brownfield Funeral Home. Nikki was born in Lubbock and moved with her parents to Brownfield in 1989. She attended school in Wellman, where she was a member of FHA, the pep squad, yearbook staff and the National Honor Society. She also was involved in TAAS academic recognition, UIL computer applications, UIL ready writing and UIL literary criticism. She played basketball, was a member of Who's Who, and was on the All A honor roll. Nikki was a Harvest Queen candidate for Shady Oaks Church of God. Survivors include her parents, Joe and Belinda Vinson of the home; two brothers, Brandon Vinson and Joshua Vinson, both of the home; a sister, Ashley Vinson of the home; grandparents, Gene and Dora Vinson of Lubbock, and Edward and Mary Brooks of Amarillo; and greatgrandparents, Ruth Sanders and Walter Brooks, both of Jayton.
