Padget PANHANDLE - Nanette M. Padget, 81, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Padget was born in Post and had been a Panhandle resident since 1942. She married Elmer Padget in 1936 at Anton. She received her master's degree from Oklahoma University. She taught for 34 years in Panhandle. Mrs. Padget was a charter member of Anton Methodist Church and a member of First United Methodist Church of Panhandle, the Living Bible Class and United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Altrurian Women's Club, the Texas Retired Teachers Association, the Amarillo Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Texas Library Association and Delta Kappa Theta. She was preceded in death by a son, David Lester, in 1948. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Jim McGowan of Garland; and a sister, Gene Herrin of Anton. Mell Clardy QUITAQUE - Mell Clardy, 95, died Monday, July 7, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Veals, pastor of New Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Clardy was born in Severe County, Ark. She married William M. Clardy in 1917 at Nashville, Ark. He died in 1964. She was a member of Macedon Baptist Church of Quitaque. Survivors include six daughters, Diane Johnson, Melba Brittain and Mary Dell Scoggins, all of Quitaque, Florida Bell of Nashville, Josephine Moseley of Oklahoma City and Juanita Bell of Lamar; three sons, Charlie Raymond Clardy and Charlie W. Clardy, both of Quitaque, and Willie Clardy of Los Angeles; 60 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Ann Farris PLAINVIEW - Ann Farris, 87, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Plainview Cemetery with Mike Prather, minister of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Farris was born in Duffee, Newton County, Miss., and moved to Plainview in 1919. She married George Henry Farris in 1927 at Floydada. He died in 1980. Mrs. Farris was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Hazle King of Oklahoma City; two sons, J.B. Farris of Tulsa, Okla., and Dorman D. "Dick'' Farris of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Cathryn Bridges PLAINVIEW - Cathryn Bridges, 87, of Hale Center, a former Plainview resident, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Karl King, minister of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bridges was born in Clyde and grew up in Haskell County. She married Tyler Bridges in 1928 at Haskell County. He died in 1983. After marrying, she moved to Seagraves. In 1930 she moved to Brownfield and in 1932 she moved back to Haskell County. She moved to Plainview in 1952 and to Las Cruces, N.M, in 1990. She moved to Hale Center in 1993. Mrs. Bridges was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Herbert Bridges of New Mexico; a brother, Perry Franks of Hale Center; a sister, Ruby Cowdry of California; a grandson; and a great-grandson. Clarence Dewey Fain BORGER - Clarence Dewey Fain, 83, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Serenity at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Fain was born in Bonham. He had been a Borger resident for 41 years, moving from Pampa. He was a truck driver for Gibson's Machine & Tool Co. He was a Baptist. He married Iva Davis in 1937 at Frederick, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jo Cummings of Bartonville and Gayle Hedrick of Borger; three brothers, Cleo Fain of Portland, Ore., Warner Fain of Torrington, Wyo., and Billy Joe Fain of Coleman; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Evelyn Alexander Evelyn Alexander, 91, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Dr. Dana Moore of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Miss Alexander was born in Pilot Point. She moved to Amarillo 69 years ago from Sherman. She was a volunteer for the March of Dimes and a member of the RSVP, the Indoor Sports Club and the Sunshine Club for the Blind. Survivors include two sisters, Jessie Gray and Flossie Dobbs, both of Amarillo. The family will be at 1412 E. Studebaker Ave. They request memorials be to the American Council of the Blind, 1000 S. Grand St., Amarillo, Texas 79104. Allen P. Bell Allen P. Bell, 79, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Ron Muller of Sanborn Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East. Mr. Bell was born in Brownwood. He lived in Amarillo for many years and moved to Killeen from Amarillo in 1975. He returned to Amarillo in 1992. He married Berta Louise Whitfield in 1945 at El Paso. She died in 1992. Mr. Bell was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from civil service in 1989 after 35 years as a cook. He was a member of Sanborn Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Bell of Amarillo; and a sister, Ida Mahan of Amarillo. The family will be at 3300 Mockingbird Lane. Gaytha Waldrop Bruce Gaytha Waldrop Bruce, 92, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Stan Coffey, pastor of San Jacinto Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Bruce was born in Minter and moved to Amarillo in 1929. She moved away for 10 years before returning to Amarillo. She was the owner and operator of Mission Garden of Memories and the Clovis Monument Co., both in Clovis, N.M. She also helped establish Glorietta Baptist Center in Glorietta, N.M. Mrs. Bruce was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Soroptimist Club. She also was a member of the Clovis Chamber of Commerce and a past board member of the Clovis Salvation Army. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Clovis and Amarillo. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Bob Bruce of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 3601 Carson Drive. They request memorials be to Habitat for Humanity. Consuelo S. Barrientez Consuelo S. Barrientez, 66, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in N.S. Juan Valdez officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Barrientez was born in San Benito. She married Enemencio Barrientez in 1946 at San Benito. She was a member of Lawndale Charity Bingo. She was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include her husband; five sons, Joe Barrientez, Juan Barrientez, Jessie Barrientez and Daniel Barrientez, all of Amarillo, and Enemencio Barrientez Jr. of Hereford; six daughters, Oralia Flores, Esther Hernandez and Rosa Riojas, all of Hereford, Cindy Aguirre of Amarillo, Lupe Rodriguez of Wellington and Christina Carrasco of Dumas; 49 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3609 E. 32nd Ave. They request memorials be to the American Diabetes Association. Oklahoma Terrance M. Yard GUYMON, Okla. - Terrance M. "T.M.'' Yard, 76, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, in Payette, Idaho. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Grace Southern Baptist Church with Jimmy Pitson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Yard was born in Barnsdal. He married Lahoma M. Burrows in 1941 at Copan. They moved to the Guymon area from Borger, Texas, in 1944. Mr. Yard retired from Phillips Petroleum Inc. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Guymon Noon Lions Club, Guymon Masonic Lodge and Grace Southern Baptist Church. The Yards recently had moved to Fruitland, Idaho. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon K. Maxwell of Fruitland; a brother, David Franklin Yard of Salina; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Grace Southern Baptist Church. He was a wildlife biologist for 50 years for the U.S. Department of Interior. He was a member of Glascow Church of Christ. He married his wife, Joyce, in 1947 at Bryan. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Machan Lard; a daughter, Pamula D. Lard of Victoria; a son, C.T. Lard of Caldwell; a brother, Kenneth E. Lard of Amarillo; and a grandson. Canyon Dessie Geren Dessie Geren, 78, of Canyon, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in University Church of Christ with Bob Shepard, Campus Bible Chair minister, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Okla. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Geren was born in Drumright, Okla., and attended school at Row, Okla. She moved to Kellerville in 1936. She married Lonnie Vestal Geren in 1946 at Tulsa, Okla. They made their home in Broken Arrow until 1976, when Mr. Geren died. While in Broken Arrow, Mrs. Geren was involved in children and family services. She moved to Canyon in 1977 and had been employed at Wal-Mart for the past nine years. She was a member of University Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, James Russell Geren of Canyon; a sister, Darlene Brumley of Canyon; three brothers, Merle Ford and Bill Ford, both of Canyon, and Lemuel Ford of Lincoln, Neb. The family requests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114. Mary Weigle Mary Elizabeth Weigle, 93, of Canyon, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Chapel in Lubbock with the Rev. Dale Cain officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Weigle was born in Anderson County, S.C. She graduated from Winthrop Teachers College in Rock Hill, S.C., in 1927. She married Charles Weigle in 1929 at Anderson County. He died in 1971. Mrs. Weigle taught elementary school in Darlington, S.C., Piedmont, S.C., Brownfield, Vernon and New Deal. Survivors include a daughter, Charlyn Carr of Canyon; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.
