Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Walker was born in Fowler, Colo. She received a bachelor's degree from Western State College at Gunnison, Colo., and a master's degree in education from West Texas State University. She taught in Colorado for many years before moving to Amarillo. She was an elementary school teacher in the Amarillo public schools for more than 20 years before retiring in 1976. For the last 20 years, she had worked for First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Witherspoon of Gilbert, Ariz.; and two granddaughters. The family requests memorials be to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Potter House Library Fund. Christene B. Ribble Christene B. Ribble, 87, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave., with Jim Blackmon, minister of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Ribble was born in Harrold. She worked in the cafeteria at Amarillo College for 12 years and was manager for 10 of those years. She also was an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She married John Ralph "J.R.'' Ribble in 1944. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Anna Ratliff of Amarillo and Phyllis Mitchell of Waco; a son, Roy Anton Wadlow of Jefferson, Ore.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He preceded her in death. Survivors include four children, Lynda Kennedy Stargel of Alpharetta, Ga., E.F. "Ken'' Kennedy Jr. of Sanger, Lewis Kennedy of New York City and Kristin Kennedy of Huntington, W.Va.; a brother, Ed Sandford of Edmond, Okla.; and three grandchildren. Frank Peterka Frank Peterka, 79, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, in Memphis, Tenn. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Larry Crumpton of Buchanan Street United Methodist Church and the Rev. Carol Crumpton of the church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Military honors will be by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Mr. Peterka was born in Cleveland. He married Ruth McNeill in 1943 at Rantoul, Ill. She died in 1990. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force after serving for 22 years. He then became a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, working there for 15 years before retiring. Mr. Peterka was a member of Buchanan Street United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 470 in Rantoul and Scottish Rite Valley of Danville Branch No. 1037. He also was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers of Amarillo. Survivors include a sister, Elenor Bassett of Arcadia, Fla.; and a brother, Charles Peterka of Cleveland. Richard T. Swaim Richard T. Swaim, 43, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Hallie Hart officiating. Mr. Pate was born in Cairo, Ill. He moved to Borger in 1941 and to Amarillo in 1942. He had been a member of Painters Union No. 544 since 1943. He married Ruby Harber in 1931 at Trenton, Tenn. She died in 1990. He also was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Ray Pate, in February. Dorine Lojewski Dorine Lojewski, 73, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today in St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church and St. Hyacinth's Women's Organization. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and a volunteer for Catholic Family Services. She also was involved with Kids, Inc. She had been married to Joe Lojewski for 52 years. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joseph Stephen Lojewski of Lubbock and Major David Lojewski of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. New Mexico Morelle King PORTALES, N.M. - Morelle "Bo'' King, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Chapel with Kenneth Broad officiating. Mr. King was born in Tokio, Texas. He moved to Portales when he was a child and attended Portales schools. He entered the Coast Guard in 1942 and served in the North Atlantic Theater of Operations. His unit ran guard against German U-boats for allied convoys between North Ireland and North Africa. The unit was on patrol and assisted in the invasion of Normandy. In 1946, Mr. King returned to Portales and then lived in Oregon for three years. After his marriage in 1949 to Frankye Alston at Reno, Nev., they returned to Portales. Mr. King was self-employed in the restaurant business for 20 years. After selling his business, he was employed in the marketing department of Southern Union Gas Co. He sold real estate and later worked for Cooper-Huddleston Chevrolet. He was a member of the Portales Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master in 1980. He also was a Scottish Rite Mason. In 1980, he and his wife organized the Conestoga Good Sams. He cooked for the Christian Men's monthly breakfast for many years. He also was involved in cooking the dressing for the United Methodist Women's annual turkey dinner for seven years. He remained active as a cook until the past few months. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clayton "Herkie'' King of Tecumseh, Mo.; a daughter, Sharon King of Portales; two sisters, Laverne Anderson of Oak Ridge, Ore., and Lavelle Veteto of Widefield, Colo.; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Earl Davis CLOVIS, N.M. - Earl "Bill'' Davis, 66, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Davis was born in Tolar, Texas. He moved to Clovis in 1939 from Granbury, Texas. He also had lived in Ruidoso. He was a carpenter in the construction business. Survivors include three sons, Earl DeMoss Davis of Seatac, Wash., and Robbin Kieth Davis and Jimmy Lee Davis, both of Las Lunas; a sister, Treva Smith of Clovis; and several grandchildren. Mr. Pollard was born in Winters and had lived in the Stegall community since 1931. He was a retired farmer. He married Elsie Holt in 1937 at Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Howard Pollard of Lubbock, Mike Pollard of Garland and Terry Pollard of Stegall; two daughters, Virginia Williams of Midland and Kathy Wallace of Pharr; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Robert Shields and the Rev. Orville Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Shields was born in Patterson, Okla. She moved to Stinnett seven years ago from Borger. She retired from North Plains Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stinnett and Borger Chapter No. 811 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Cecil Shields, in 1991. Survivors include four sons, Billy Shields of Hobbs, N.M., the Rev. Robert Shields of Waxahachie, John Shields of Santa Maria, Calif., and Jimmy Shields of Amarillo; two daughters, Jo Ann Cobb of Stinnett and Helen Welch of Clarendon; a brother, Junior Mitchell of Booker, Okla.; a sister, Faye Harrison of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Thelma Irene Newby DALHART - Thelma Irene Newby, 93, of Cassville, Mo., a former Dalhart resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with Chad Barnett, assistant minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. Newby was born in Dalhart. She moved to Missouri in 1984 from Dalhart. She was a homemaker and a member of Dalhart First Christian Church. She married Raymond James Newby in 1924 at Dalhart. He died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Jim Newby of Cassville; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren. Iva Lucinda Hickman Payne TULIA - Iva Lucinda Walker Hickman Payne, 99, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Wallace Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Church of the Holy Spirit with the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez, pastor, and the Revs. Andy and Janell Blair of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Payne was born and raised in Sparta, Mo. She was active in the Community Church there. She married Thomas B. Hickman in 1920 at Neosho, Mo. He died in 1967. She married Sid Payne in 1970. He died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Bob Hickman and Gene Hickman. Mrs. Payne moved to the Flint community in Swisher County in 1920 and was active in Home Demonstration work there. She also was active in the Golden Age Club. She was a charter member of the Senior Citizens of Tulia, serving as secretary-treasurer for four years and serving on the board of directors for eight years. She also was a member of the Tulia RSVP and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and a member of Church of the Holy Spirit. Survivors include two daughters, Lou Hardy of Tulia and Anna Lee Schuster of Tucumcari, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Senior Citizens, the Tulia Cemetery or Church of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Triana DIMMITT - Jesus Triana, 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Augustine, pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muleshoe, officiating. Burial will be in Earth Cemetery at Earth. Mr. Triana was born in Cordova, Vera Cruz, Mexico. He lived in Earth before moving to Dimmitt in 1986. He married Regina Olvera in 1943 in Mexico. She died in 1983. Mr. Triana was a lieutenant colonel in the Mexican Army. He moved to the United States in 1946 and farmed for T.L. "Buddy'' Free in Earth until 1968. He then worked at Brown-Wood-Jordan Implement Co. in Earth from 1968 until retiring in 1986. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include three sons, Carlos Triana of Dimmitt, Jose Triana of Muleshoe and Dionicio Triana of Amarillo; three daughters, Maria Triana, Consuelo Aguilar and Josie Garza, all of Dimmitt; three brothers, Roberto Triana, Bernardo Triana and Isidro Triana, all of Mexico; three sisters, Socorro Gamon of Ogden, Utah, and Francisca Triana and Josephine Alba, both of Mexico; three half sisters, Rosario Barraza, Elena Triana and Thomasa Contreras, all of Mexico; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Terrell was born in Comanche County and had been a Moore County resident since 1942. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married William Ransom Terrell in 1933 at Plainview. He died in 1986. Survivors include three sons, Doyle Terrell and David Terrell, both of Dumas, and Jimmy Terrell of Lubbock; a daughter, Carolyn Flanagin Sweeney of Borger; two brothers, Dale Lacewell of Plainview and W. "Lace'' Lacewell of Ruidoso, N.M.; three sisters, Ruddene Crowley and Mardee Wood, both of Farwell, and Billie Parton of Hereford; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mae Owen MULESHOE - Mae Owen, 81, of Crosbyton, a former Muleshoe resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. George Van Hoose of First Assembly of God in Crosbyton and the Rev. Jack Stone of First Assembly of God in Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Owen was born in Turkey, Texas. She moved from Lockney to Muleshoe in 1924. She had lived in Crosbyton since 1990, moving from Muleshoe. She married Earl Wesley Owen in 1936 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1974. Mrs. Owen worked as a cook at The Corral in Muleshoe. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Muleshoe. Survivors include two sons, Fred Owen of Ralls and Bob Owen of Cedar City; a daughter, Marcha Rasco of Abernathy; three sisters, Babe Hall of Pampa, Ruth Terrell of Idalou and Lucille Cobb of Marlin; a brother, Tommie Sullivan of Levelland; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Richard Miller CHILDRESS - Richard Miller, 44, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Childress Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Egerton of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born in Seattle. He was a mechanic at the Ford dealership. Survivors include his wife, Susan Miller; two sons, James Miller and Jason Miller, both of Childress; his father, William Harris of Spanaway, Wash.; his mother, Marie Harris of Spanaway; three sisters, Melissa Chaney of Auburn, Wash., Karen Morley of Yuma, Ariz., and Coleen Delamater of Pacific, Wash.; and a brother, Mike Harris of Renton, Wash. Sid McCraw CANADIAN - Sid McCraw, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Edith Ford Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. McCraw was born in Denton and had been a lifelong resident of Canadian. He served with the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a self-employed carpenter and a Baptist. He married Berniece Free in 1967 at Dumas. She died in 1994. Survivors include a son, Johnny McCraw of Pampa; a brother, Otis McCraw of Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Loretta Sanders of Waco and Bea Souhrada of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Bill Miller DARROUZETT - William John "Bill'' Miller, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Michael Gabby officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Miller was born in Osh Kosh, Wis. He moved to a farm in Lipscomb County in 1919 and attended Plains Country School. He later attended school at Follett, where he was active in wrestling and baseball. He married Regena Meller in 1931 at Lipscomb, where they made their home. In 1941, they moved to Logan, Okla., and owned and operated a commercial dairy for 10 years until selling out and going into full-time farming and ranching. Mr. Miller did custom-harvest work. He also obtained his training in television, radio and electronic equipment repair through the Industrial Training Institute. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and had served as a deacon there. Mr. Miller's first wife died in 1986. He married Ruth Winchester in 1987 at Darrouzett. They lived in Darrouzett until moving to Twin Oaks Manor in Booker in 1993. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorene Cramer; and a son, William John "Sonny'' Miller. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Miller of Irving and Raymond Miller of Plainview; four daughters, Leona Schilling of Hereford, Evelyn Altmiller of Olney, Betty Wilbanks of Amarillo and Vera Bradford of Cedar Park; three brothers, Fred Miller of Booker, Victor Miller of Lipscomb County and Leo Miller of Booker; a sister, Ruth Ginter of Lipscomb County; 23 grandchildren; and 20 greatgrandchildren.
