Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Edwards, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Sweetwater, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Maxwell was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. He was a construction welder. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Drucilla and Al Geisler of Amarillo; a son, Nicholas Maxwell of Amarillo; a sister, Paula Sue Powell of Prague, Okla.; a brother, Jim Maxwell of Fort Worth; two stepsisters, Norma Otwell of Quitman and Sharon Doggett of Amarillo; and a stepbrother, Rodney Geisler of Grapevine. The family requests memorials be to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, 1016 S. Roberts St., Amarillo, Texas 79102. Irvan G. Runyan Irvan G. Runyan, 84, of 111 N. Fairmont, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery Chapel with Monsignor Francis Smyer of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home Inc. in Canyon. Mr. Runyan was born in Texhoma. He retired as a self-employed plumber. He had been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1948. He married "Betty'' Victoria Bennett in 1974 at Chula Vista, Calif. Mr. Runyan was named Volunteer of the Year for 1997. He also had won a KVII-TV Seven Who Care award. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, J.L. Runyan of Van Nuys, Calif., and W. Dale Runyan of Monterrey, Calif.; a sister, Charmian Wineinger of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and extended family, Judith Martin, Don and Lana Morphis, Pat Oakley Lehere, and Ken and Lora Forbus. Ely, 97, of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Llano Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Jim Garrett of Polk Street United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Ely was born in Kansas and had lived in Amarillo since 1992. She married James C. Ely in 1919. He died in 1978. Mrs. Ely was a homemaker and a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Bob Ely of Amarillo; a daughter, Gwen Middleton of Borger; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will be at 5018 Brinkman. The body will not be available for viewing. Edna Mae Stump Edna Mae "Peggy'' Stump, 82, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Johnny Raymond officiating. Ms. Stump was born in Cowgill, Mo., and moved to Amarillo in 1951. She was a Baptist and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Kirklin Jr., 74, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. G.A. Roach, director of pastoral care at Northwest Texas Health Care System, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Kirklin was born in Swink, Colo. He moved to Amarillo in 1953 from Dozier. He married Helen Marie Marshall in 1951 at Allison. Mr. Kirklin was a security guard before retiring. He was a former member of the Amarillo Golden Spread Rock and Mineral Club. He was a member of the Shamrock Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a son, James R. Kirklin of Skiatook, Okla.; a brother, Vernon Kirklin of Shamrock; and a sister, Winnie Fielder of Fort Worth. The family requests memorials be to the American Diabetes Foundation. Elsewhere Andrew Gomez LUBBOCK - Andrew Gomez, 35, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. John Neumann Catholic Church by Monsignor Curtis Halfmann. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park by Sanders Funeral Home. Mr. Gomez was born in Lubbock. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1980. He moved to Amarillo in 1990 and worked as a medical aide at St. Anthony's Hospital. Survivors include his parents, Jimmy Gomez and Lupe Gomez of Lubbock; three brothers, Alex Gomez Sr., Jimmy Gomez Jr. and Paul Gomez, all of Lubbock; three sisters, Diana Gomez, Mary Ann Garcia and April Mojica, all of Lubbock; and his longtime companion, Bob Wright of Lubbock. Canyon Mank W. Gollihar Mank W. Gollihar, 62, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Graveside services will be Friday in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery near Nugent, a community near Abilene. Arrangements are by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson. Mr. Gollihar was born in Johnson County, Ark. He moved to Canyon in 1990 from Nugent. He was the owner of Plains Refrigerant Reclaim in Canyon. He retired after selling the business three years ago. Survivors include his ex-wife, Sue Gollihar of Nugent; three children, Regina McGraw of Grandview, Chesley Gollihar of Abilene and Kathy Sue Grubb of Tulia; two brothers, George C. Gollihar of Deming, N.M., and Jerry Gollihar of Hahira, Ga.; five sisters, Gloria Bayne of Dalhart, Mary Holt of Gig Harbor, Wash., Maxine Obreicht of Roswell, N.M., Connie Strom of La Grande, Ore., and Kathy Struck of Boise, Idaho; and nine grandchildren. Area Amelia Ashton FLOYDADA - Amelia Ashton, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Floyd County Memorial Park with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Ashton was born in Hamilton County. She graduated from high school in Hamilton County and then attended Tarleton State College. She married Clarence L. Ashton in 1929 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1992. Mrs. Ashton taught school in the McCoy and Campbell communities. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Bobby Ashton of League City; a daughter, Frances Ashton of Floydada; a brother, Mack Fuqua of Reklaw; three sisters, Arma Lee Scott of Houston, Sharon Fowler of Davenport, Iowa, and Estelle Scheibel of Dallas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First Baptist Church organ fund, 401 S. Main, Floydada, Texas 79235. Charles E. Crooks PLAINVIEW - Charles E. Crooks, 79, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Crooks of White Settlement and the Rev. James Smith of Mena, Ark., officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Crooks was born in Haskell and went to school in Union. He moved to Weslaco and then to Lubbock County, where he farmed. He moved to the Happy Union community, near Plainview, in 1977 and continued farming until retiring in 1982. He was a longtime member of the Happy Union Community Baptist Church until the church disbanded. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church at the time of his death. Mr. Crooks married Mary R. Smith in 1937 at Donna. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Lou Nivens of Hale Center; three sons, Donald Crooks of Tulia, Dale Crooks of Pflugerville and Daniel Crooks of Plainview; two brothers, James Ed Crooks of Brownfield and Billy Mark Crooks of Lubbock; a sister, Nita Warren of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Ross O'Hair WELLINGTON - Ross O'Hair, 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Tims, pastor of First Baptist Church of Chickasha, Okla., and the Rev. Harry Stallings, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. O'Hair was born in Quail and graduated from Quail High School in 1944. He began working for Melvin Stingel Plumbing in 1949 and bought the business in 1960. He operated it until the time of his death. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Methodist. Mr. O'Hair married Sallie Langley Gray in 1974 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy O'Hair of Wellington; a stepson, Danny Gray of Wellington; a daughter, Wauleen Hiett of Wellington; a stepdaughter, Sherry Miller of Lubbock; a brother, Lee O'Hair of Amarillo; two sisters, Dora Mae Brown of Pampa and Hazel French of Camino, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Golden Spread Hospice of Wellington. Olean E. Cummings WELLINGTON - Olean E. Cummings, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Hookstra, minister of the Christian Church in Erick, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Cummings was born in Whitesboro. She married William T. "Dutch'' Cummings in 1930 at Altus, Okla. He died in 1995. Mrs. Cummings co-owned and operated Dutch's Restaurant in Quanah until retiring in 1969. She moved to Wellington in 1990. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of the Century Study and the Quanah Garden Club. Survivors include a son, William T. Cummings of Arizona City, Ariz.; two daughters, Maritta Cummings of Wellington and Linda Cummings of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Naomi McAffee of Quanah; three granddaughters; six greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the Wellington EMS. Bobbie Payne CANADIAN - Bobbie Payne, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Edith Ford Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Smelser, senior minister at First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Payne had been a longtime Hemphill County resident. She was a graduate of Cameron High School in Lawton, Okla., and Hills Business School. She was head bookkeeper for the White House Lumber Co. chain, which later was known as Modern Lumber Co. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married E.C. Payne in 1953 at New Mexico. He died in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Sid Bayless of Amarillo and Jim Bayless of Canadian; a sister, Onita Bossler of Canadian; two stepdaughters, Erma Shuey of Amarillo and Anita Sunday of Greeley, Colo.; and six grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Edward Abraham Memorial Home, 803 Birch, Canadian, Texas 79014. Louis Buford Cobb SHAMROCK - Louis Buford Cobb, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Texola Cemetery at Texola, Okla., with the family and Sid Smith, minister of the Shamrock Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Cobb was born in Texola. He moved to Shamrock from Fritch in 1973 after retiring as a barber. He married Anna Lea Martin in 1938 at Sayre, Okla. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by a child. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louis Cobb of Sanford and Harvey Cobb of Bartlesville, Okla.; two daughters, Jean Carter of Coolidge, Ariz., and Sue Cox of Amarillo; a brother, Stanley Cobb of Grapevine; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
