Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Bill Austin, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Long was born in Wise County. She moved to Memphis in 1920 and to Amarillo in 1932. She lived in Amarillo for 61 years before moving to Dumas four years ago. She married James Perry Long in 1928 at Memphis. He died in 1964. She was a homemaker and a member of Summitt Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Letricia Ann Long Collins of Dumas; three sisters, Elizabeth Hulsey of Prescott, Ariz., Lois Goffinette of Memphis and Thelma Fogelman of Pittsburgh; a brother, Eddie Richardson of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-greatgrandchild; and a great-great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Paul Thomas McWhorter Paul Thomas McWhorter, 87, of Amarillo, died Thursday, April 10, 1997. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Balko, Okla., with the Rev. Rick Justice, pastor of Vigo Park Baptist Church at Vigo Park, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. McWhorter was born in Austin and had lived in Amarillo since 1982. He served with the Navy during World War II. He retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry McWhorter, this year. Survivors include his wife, Lorene McWhorter; three sons, Dick McWhorter of Galveston, Danny McWhorter of Amarillo and Tommy McWhorter of Big Sandy; two daughters, Kathy Poole of Vigo Park and Jane Daley of San Antonio; a sister, Kathleen Adrian of Houston; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Martha Angus Carroll Griffis SAN ANTONIO - Martha Angus Carroll Griffis, 76, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997. She graduated from Hollywood High School and Sawyers School of Business and had attended City College of Los Angeles. She had been an employee of Security First National Bank of Los Angeles. She had been a president of Fort Leonard Wood Chapter Reserve Officers Association Ladies Auxiliary and of the 10th Infantry Division Chapter Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, Neighborhood Chairman Reserve Officers Association, Schweinfurt, Germany, and Neighborhood Chairman, Garner San Antonio. She also was district cookie chairman NE for five years, council cookie chairman for the Alamo Area Council for two years and served as a Boy Scouts of America den mother at Van Nuys, Calif., for two years. Mrs. Griffis was a treasurer for four years for the San Antonio Historical and Genealogical Society, served on the board of trustees at Pilgrim Congregational Church for seven years and was a member of Northwood Presbyterian Church. She had been married to Henry H. Griffis for 53 years. Survivors include her husband; four children, Mary Elizabeth Lynch, Catherine Pearl Welch, David W. Griffis and Laura Louise Hoyle; and nine grandchildren. Randy Flowers GUTHRIE - Randy Flowers, 46, of Arlington, a former Guthrie resident, died Friday, April 11, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Guthrie Cemetery. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Flowers was born in Quanah. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1968 and worked for the 6666 Ranch in Guthrie. He lived in Clayton, N.M., and managed the Five States Livestock Auction Cafe. He formerly owned Cal's Restaurant in Paducah. He lived in Abilene before moving to Arlington in 1994. He was employed by Business Hygiene of Dallas / Fort Worth. He was a Baptist and a member of Alcoholic's Anonymous. Survivors include his wife, Tarra Nann Townley Flowers of Arlington; two sons, Marty Flowers of Odessa and Jason Flowers of Arlington; a daughter, Tarra Michelle Flowers of Arlington; his mother, Yvonne Mingus of Odessa; two brothers, Ronny Flowers and Richard "Fudd'' Flowers, both of Greenwood; and a sister, Delilah Jones of Odessa. He had lived in the White River community since 1991, moving from Sudan. He was a mechanic and bus foreman for the Sudan ISD and a member of Highway 70 Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had received many military awards including the EAME Ribbon, a Purple Heart and an oak leaf cluster. Mrs. Robinson was born in Aurora, Mo. She grew up in Clovis, N.M., and Roswell, N.M. She attended Roswell High School. She married William Leslie Robinson in 1921 at Roswell. He preceded her in death. They lived in various places including Hatch and Old Mesilla. They moved to Truth or Consequences, N.M., in 1951. She moved to Ralls in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Truth or Consequences and taught an adult ladies Sunday school class there. She also had been active in the Girl Scouts. Survivors include two nephews, H.B. "Shorty'' Robertson of Petersburg and Jim Robertson of Lubbock. Oklahoma Johnny Dunn DEL CITY, Okla. - Johnny "Cliff'' Dunn, 46, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, April 10, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Southeast Chapel. Burial will be in Arlington Memory Garden. Mr. Dunn was born in Henderson, Tenn. He moved to Amarillo in 1953 and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1969. He enlisted in the Navy and served in Vietnam aboard the USS Juneau for four years. After being discharged from the Navy in 1975, he attended Amarillo College and obtained a degree in computer science. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He moved to Del City in 1991. Survivors include his mother, Nell Morain; his stepfather, Don Morain; a stepson, Tyson Frazier; a brother, Douglas Dunn of Nashville, Tenn.; a stepbrother, Ronnie Morain; a sister, Margaret Burris of Amarillo; and three stepsisters, Rita Conway, Donna Cherry and Barbara Switzer. New Mexico A.E. Wilson CONCHAS LAKE, N.M. - A.E. "Newt'' Wilson, 82, died Thursday, April 10, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in The Chapel with the Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Wilson was born in St. Joseph, Mo. He moved to Clovis in 1938 and worked for New Mexico Roofing from 1938 to 1968. He then started his own business, Newt and Butch's Roofing and Sheet Metal. After retiring in 1976, he moved to Conchas Lake. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle Aerie No. 3245. He married Mary Josephine Smith in 1940 at Marysville, Mo. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Joe Wilson, in 1952. Survivors include his wife; a son, Butch Wilson of Clovis; a daughter, Bessie Tallchief of Clovis; a sister, Katherine Hecker of St. Joseph; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She had been a bookkeeper for Bearings and Industrial Supply for 17 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She married Rupert Hughes in 1946 at Memphis. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Hughes. He retired as a control room operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Faye Brown in 1943 at Walla Walla, Wash. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marlene Myers of Andrews; a son, Terry Dickey of Erick, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Cowan was born in Denton County. She grew up in Denton and graduated from Denton High School in 1926. She attended North Texas Teachers College for two years. She taught in Mallard for one year. She married Sam Cowan in 1928 at Denton. After her marriage, she moved to Memphis and taught for four years. She moved to Plainview in 1940. She graduated from Wayland Baptist College in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught second grade at Highland Elementary from 1949 to 1967, when she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Hooten Dean Bible Class and the United Methodist Women. She was a charter member of the Plainview Community Concert. She also was member of the Plainview Knife and Fork Club, the 57 Supper Club, the Delphian Club, the Retired Teachers Association, the Gamma Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Questers Club. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ann Story of Tulia; a son, Sam Cowan Jr. of Plainview; five sisters, Sue Neely of Hillsboro, Ruby Lee Gunter of Fort Worth, May Tunnell of Wichita Falls, Tommye Smith of DeSoto and Margaritte Gardenhire of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren; and five great-grandsons. Arrangements were by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Salmon was born in Erick, Okla. She was a Hall County resident from 1936 to 1959, when she moved to Amarillo. She married Patrick Homer Salmon in 1945 at Clayton, N.M. She was a homemaker and a nondenominational church member. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Salmon. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pati Salmon of Dallas and Zackie Salmon of Laramie, Wyo.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
