Keeter Freeman L. Keeter, 90, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 10, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell Street, with Lynn Camp of Southwest Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Keeter was born in Tulia. He farmed southeast of Amarillo for 72 years. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. He married Geneva Turner in 1930 at Tucumcari, N.M. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Keeter Wiegand. Survivors include his wife; a son, Fred E. Keeter of Mississippi; two brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home and Family Services, 1501 West 58th Avenue, Amarillo, Texas 79110. The family will be at Park Place Tower No. 901. Brent Hodge Brent Hodge, 19, of 45 Zillie Road and 7005 Birkshire Drive, died Sunday, March 9, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with Dr. Paul Richardson, pastor of Rockwell Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Hodge was born in Amarillo and had lived here all of his life. He attended Randall High School and was employed by Hobby Lobby. He was a member of Rockwell Road Baptist Church. He also was an Eagle Scout with Troop No. 86. Survivors include a daughter, Baylee Hodge of Amarillo; his father, Bill Hodge of Amarillo; his mother, Debbie Mullins of Amarillo; his stepmother, Janet Hodge of Amarillo; three brothers, Justin Mullins, Brandon Hodge and Cody Hodge, all of Amarillo; a sister, Casey Hodge of Amarillo; and grandparents, Bill and Doris McDonald and Donna Hodge, all of Amarillo. New Mexico George Joseph Barton CLOVIS, N.M. - George Joseph Barton, 80, died Sunday, March 9, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in The Chapel with Kenneth Broad officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at Santa Fe by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Barton was born in San Angelo, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1934. He had been a Realtor for Kenneth Realty for 12 years. He was a member of Central Christian Church, where he was a deacon, an elder and property chairman on the board of trustees. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3015. He was a Ham radio operator. He married Faye Payne in 1948 at Fort Sumner. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Leslie Aaker of Hesperia, Calif.; two sisters, Mona Bell Newell of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kathy Fatterfield of Wichita Falls, Texas; a friend, Jake Burnett of Clovis; and a grandchild. Justin Michael Tidwell CLOVIS, N.M. - Justin Michael Tidwell, infant son of Mike and Karen Tidwell, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Lakenheath, England. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Mission Garden of Memories at Clovis with the Rev. J.M. Barnard officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Justin was born in Lakenheath. Survivors include his parents; a sister, Jessica Lynn Tidwell; and grandparents, George and Naomi Rea of England and Judi Tidwell of Virginia. Retha Cook CLOVIS, N.M. - Retha Cook, 89, died Sunday, March 9, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Beevers Cemetery at Forest. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Cook had been a resident of Curry County since 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1963. Survivors include three daughters, Bettye Willoughby of Clovis, Earlene Price of Aztec and Evelyn Chambers of Portales; three brothers, Clyde Christian of Woodward, Okla., Ralph Christian of Oklahoma City and Jim Christian of Cushing, Okla.; a sister, Mildred Trimble of Hanford, Calif.; several grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mary M. Anglin CLAYTON, N.M. - Mary Margaret "Maggie" Ditmore Anglin, 101, a former Clayton resident, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, in Yukon, Okla. Services will be at 10 a.m. (MST) Thursday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gene Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Anglin was born in Tom Green County, Texas. She married Job Hill Anglin in 1919 at Water Valley, Texas. In the early 1920s, they moved to Magdalena. They later moved to Iowa Park, Texas, where her husband operated the city water works and was chief of the local fire department. In 1930, they moved to Nara Visa and leased a ranch. They moved onto their own ranch in Amistad in 1936 and stayed there until retiring in 1959, when they moved to Clayton. They moved to Logan in 1971; Mr. Anglin died in 1972. Mrs. Anglin stayed in Logan until 1979, when she moved to the Spanish Cove Retirement Community in Yukon. She was secretary of the Amistad, and later the Clayton, United Methodist churches. She was a member of the Logan United Methodist church at the time of her death. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou McCord of Clayton; a son, Dr. J. Hill Anglin of Oklahoma City; a sister, Naomi Ditmore of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Elsewhere Howard Melvin Frost MIDLAND - Howard Melvin Frost, 78, died Sunday, March 9, 1997. Graveside services were Monday in North Fairview Cemetery at Wellington with the Rev. Steve Ulrey, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Frost was born in Tolbert. He attended school at Pettit and graduated from Levelland High School. He served for seven years in the Army. He married Floy Mae Willis in 1943 at El Paso. They moved to Wichita Falls, where he began working in the grocery business. He worked at Sheppard Air Force Base before retiring in 1980. He was involved with Dale Carnegie International. Mr. Frost and his wife moved to Midland in 1990. Mrs. Frost died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Flowers of Midland; two sisters, Imogene Miller of Sayre, Okla., and Bobbie Kilpatrick of Big Spring; and two grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to the Wellington Cemetery Association or the Manor Park Endowment Fund, 2208 N. 250 West, Midland, Texas 79707. T.H. Blackstock MORTON - T.H. Blackstock, 77, died Sunday, March 9, 1997. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Renshaw, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Blackstock was born in Water Valley and moved to Morton from Lamesa in 1948. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. He married Juanita Wyatt in 1937 at Lamesa. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harold Blackstock of Morton and Maurice Blackstock of Wolfforth; two daughters, Brenda Kay Enos and Linda Hatter, both of Morton; two brothers, Aubrey Blackstock of Lamesa and Dale Blackstock of Pecos; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. David Franklin Wiginton FRISCO - David Franklin Wiginton, 41, died Sunday, March 9, 1997, at Plano. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cantrell Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Hathcoat officiating. Mr. Wiginton was born in Lubbock. He was a Baptist and a foreman for a steel erector company. He married Jan Lepa in 1983 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Seth Wiginton and Adam Wiginton, both of Ulysses, and Nathan Wiginton and Aaron Wiginton, both of Frisco; her mother, Elouise Wiginton of Amarillo; a sister, Elaine Troxel of Amarillo; and a grandchild. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cantrell Funeral Home, 8520 Main St., Frisco, Texas. Lynn J. Courtney LUBBOCK - Lynn J. Courtney, 79, died Tuesday, March 11, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Mills and the Rev. Elton Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Idalou Cemetery at Idalou by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Courtney was born in Hamilton County and moved to Idalou in 1920. He graduated from Idalou High School and attended Texas Tech University. He served in the Navy during World War II. Following his return from the service, he became employed with the soil conservation service in Wellington. He worked there until retiring. He later was employed at the Texas A&M Research Center in Lubbock. He also worked with Texas Tech University. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Homebuilder's Class and the Methodist Men. He also was a member of the the Open Heart Club. Mr. Courtney married Avah Nell Sparkman in 1942 at Lubbock. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayla Burkitt, in 1978. Survivors include his wife; a son, Max Courtney of Southland; a daughter, Betty Donaldson of Wolfforth; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association, 3403 73rd St., Lubbock, Texas 79423. Oklahoma Mamie L. Hammontree KEYES, Okla. - Mamie L. Hammontree, 96, died Monday, March 10, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Keyes First Baptist Church with Harold James, Billy Rammage and Jason Kearney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Hammontree was born six miles south of Karo, Kan. She and her family moved to Elkhart, Kan., in 1918. She married Howard Peterson in 1919. After Mr. Peterson's death in 1940, she married Monty Everett Hammontree in 1948. He died in 1978. Mrs. Hammontree was a member of the Keyes First Baptist Church, the Keyes Rebekah Lodge and the Keyes Senior Citizens. She also was preceded in death by two children, Florine House and Buddy Petersen. Survivors include 10 grandchildren including Cody Morrow of Borger, Texas, and Cree House of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Keyes First Baptist Church. Memorials may be left in care of the mortuary. Area Larry Ralston DALHART - Larry Ralston, 58, died Friday, March 7, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Claude Hendricks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Ralston was born in Palmyra, Mo., and moved to Dalhart in 1979. He worked for Coronado Feeders. He married Cinda Caylor in 1983. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Benny Ralston and David Ralston, both of Houma, La., and Troy Ralston of Dalhart; three daughters, Helen Lynette Whitt of Raceland, La., Kimberly Ralston of Dalhart and Nicole Ralston of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Dawn Garcia of Moriarty, N.M., and Crystal Jackson of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, Freddy Ralston of Glendale, Ariz., and Neil Ralston of Kirksville, Mo.; a sister, Peggy Nall of Palmyra; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lucile Harlan Kincade PAMPA - Lucile Harlan Kincade, 86, died Monday, March 10, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Cemetery at McLean with the Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Kincade was born and raised in McLean. She lived in Oklahoma City for 43 years, moving to El Reno, Okla., in 1989. She moved to Pampa two years ago. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Oklahoma City. She retired from Veazey's Drug Store at Oklahoma City. Survivors include a daughter, June D. Hall of Pampa; a son, Gary L. Kincade of El Reno; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Susie Sewell TULIA - Susie Sewell, 52, died Tuesday, March 11, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Ms. Sewell was born in Memphis. She grew up in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School. She attended West Texas State University in Canyon. She was director of the Senior Citizens Center in Tulia for 10 years. She was instrumental in getting the Senior Citizens Center moved into the Swisher Memorial Building. She also was one of the first to get the Christmas Love Fund developed in Tulia. She was the Tulia Woman of the Year in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She also had lived in Plainview and Lubbock. Mrs. Sewell was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Sewell, in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Traci Boswell and Kelly Sewell, both of Tulia; and four grandchildren. Mamie Kate Wertanen ADRIAN - Mamie Kate Wertanen, 89, of San Diego, died Friday, March 7, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Arrangements are by Vega Funeral Home. Mrs. Wertanen was born in Burleson and had been a resident of San Diego for 50 years. She was a professional pianist and soloist. She was Baptist. She married Oscar Leon Wertanen in 1961 at San Diego. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Patsy Rivera of Escondido, Calif.; a brother, Ray Brown of Adrian; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at Vega Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday. Patsy J. Hamilton TEXLINE - Patsy J. Hamilton, 65, died Monday, March 10, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ with the Rev. D.C. Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Pontiac, Mich. She married Hugh Hamilton in 1951. They moved in 1960 from California to Texline. They farmed for a short time before opening and operating the Texline Meat Packing Co. She worked for the Forest Service for 17 years and retired in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her mother, Florence Hinderer of Texline; a sister, Barbara Wood of Santa Rosa, Calif. The family requests memorials be to the Hospice Program at Coon Memorial Hospital and Home c/o Mickie Pritchett.
