Dinwiddie TULIA - Sue A. Dinwiddie, 96, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997, in Denver. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Hart Cemetery at Hart with the Rev. Gerald Aalbers of First Baptist Church of Hart officiating. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Dinwiddie was born in Belton. She was raised in Canyon and attended Canyon schools before moving to Hart in 1928. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hart. She moved to Denver in 1971. She married Otto Dudley Dinwiddie in 1922 at Canyon. He died in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Russell Elfvin of Denver; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to the Hart Cemetery fund. Jacob Scott Leatherwood TULIA - Jacob Scott "Bubba'' Leatherwood, 19, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Auten of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Leatherwood was born in Hale Center and raised in Plainview and Tulia. He attended Plainview and Tulia schools. He worked at TMI as a welder in Tulia. He was active in karate and FFA. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. Survivors include his mother, Sherry Leatherwood of Tulia; his stepfather, Jimmy Fisher of Tulia; three brothers, Kyle Leatherwood of Plainview, and Tory Leatherwood and Doyce Leatherwood, both of Tulia; and grandparents, Doyce and Mary Keen, and Homer and Daisy Dudley, all of Plainview, and Ward and Nancy Fisher of Tulia. Ricardo San Miguel TULIA - Ricardo "Ricky'' San Miguel, 21, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Saul Carvajal, pastor of Assembly of God Church in George West, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. San Miguel was born in Tulia. He married Anna Marie Cruz in 1992 at Tulia. He was employed by Big N Seed in Tulia. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nicki San Miguel and Ricardo Santana San Miguel, both of the home; his parents, Vito and Rosalinda San Miguel of Tulia; two brothers, Vito San Miguel Jr. and Roy Allen San Miguel, both of Tulia; grandparents, Guillermo and Rita Carvajal of Tulia, and Pilar San Miguel of Canyon. J.W. Holt PAMPA - J.W. Holt, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Holt was born in Bosque County. He married Alma Louise Kleibrink in 1927 at Valley Mills. She died in 1996. Mr. Holt retired from the Pampa Independent School District in 1975. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Holt of Pampa and James Holt of Dallas; a daughter, JoAnn Sweatt of Odessa; a brother, Cecil Holt of Crawford; a sister, Viola Mendoza of Monahans; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four stepgreatgrandchildren. Dot Key MORTON - Dot Key, 98, of Big Lake, a former Morton resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Boles, pastor, and the Rev. Jess Hodge of Tulia officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Key was born in Eastland. She graduated from Olney High School and attended Baylor University. She married William Calvin Key in 1921 at Newcastle. They moved to Morton in 1935. They lived in Ruidoso, N.M., from 1973 to 1981. Mr. Key died in 1981. She moved to Big Lake from Morton in 1987. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hodge of Big Lake and Peggy Allsup of Ruidoso; four grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Minnie Schwope BOOKER - Minnie Schwope, 94, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Follett Chapel at Follett with the Rev. Marcus Adair and the Rev. Roland Haney officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Follett by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Schwope was born in Sardis, Ky. When she was a child, her family moved to Higgins, where they lived until moving to a farm west of Lipscomb. Three years after completing her education at a country school, she moved to Follett and graduated from high school in 1924. She married Milton Irvin Schwope in 1929 at Arnett. They made their home on a farm north of Follett. In 1938, they purchased a farm west of Follett. After Mr. Schwope's death in 1976, Mrs. Schwope moved to Follett, where she lived until moving to Laverne, Okla. She moved to Twin Oaks Manor in Booker in 1994. Mrs. Schwope was a homemaker and a member of Follett Chapel. She was a charter member of the Lipscomb County Home Demonstration Club and the Follett Friends and Neighbors Club. Survivors include a son, Bob Schwope of Pampa; a daughter, Ann Wright of Follett; four grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Follett Chapel or a favorite charity. Melba V. Keener STRATFORD - Melba V. Keener, 78, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church with Dr. Syd Carns, interim pastor, and the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Keener was born in Lamar, Colo., and had been a Stratford resident most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church, the Stratford Home Demonstration Club and SCOT Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Keener, in 1986; and a son, Sherrydon Keener, in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Harold Poe Keener of Stratford and Gregory Mark Keener of Arvada, Colo.; a daughter, Missie Devrous of Bailey, Colo.; two brothers, Wade Turner of Aurora, Colo., and Dean Turner of Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, Alma Jean Boothby of Guymon, Okla., and Virginia Hager of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Jose Francisco Delgadillo TULIA - Jose Francisco Delgadillo, 21, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997. Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Delphine Ruiz, pastor of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico. Mr. Delgadillo was born and raised in Tulia. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1995. He was a laborer for Roll-a-Cone in Tulia. He attended Central Church of Christ. Survivors include his parents, Raul and Victoria Delgadillo Sr. of Tulia; and two brothers, Raul Delgadillo Jr. and Job Delgadillo, both of Tulia. Mary Louise Homer HEREFORD - Mary Louise Homer, 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Wake services will be at 7 p.m. today in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Monsignor Orville Blum, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in Groom. Mrs. Homer was born in Creston, Iowa. She married Martin Homer in 1947 at Creston. He died in 1974. She also was preceded in death by a son, Fredrick Joseph Homer, in 1959. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1985 from Groom. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and St. Anthony's Christian Mothers Organization. Survivors include two sons, Tim Homer of Hereford and Mike Homer of San Antonio; four daughters, Ann Lueb and Marcia Homer, both of Hereford, Christy Crawford of Kress and Janie Holt of Amarillo; a brother, James E. Herring of Marion, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. The family requests memorials be to the St. Anthony's School Endowment Fund. Amarillo Robert Barela Robert Barela, 32, of Cibolo, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements in Universal City were by Colonial Funeral Home. Mr. Barela was born in Hereford. He attended school in Amarillo and graduated from Samuel Clemmons High School in Schertz in 1984. He had lived in Cibolo for 17 years. He was a foreman for Daniel Barela Construction in framing contracting. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Cibolo. Survivors include his wife, Debra Barela of Cibolo; a daughter, Alicia Marie Barela of Cibolo; a son, Ricky Barela of Cibolo; his parents, Daniel and Ginger Barela of Cibolo; a sister, Dannette Riojas of Amarillo; two brothers, Danny Ray Barela of Amarillo and Randy Lee Barela of San Antonio; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Flores of Amarillo, and Teresa Barela of Hereford. The family will be at 4305 S. Ong St. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. Margaret Eleanor Lambert Margaret Eleanor Lambert, 91, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Park Place Towers with the Rev. Ken Shepherd, pastor of Faith Covenant Church of Borger, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Lambert was born in Spencer, Iowa. She graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa, where she taught school until marrying John W. Lambert in 1930 at Columbus, Ohio. They moved to Borger in 1946 and lived there until 1965, when they moved to Wooster. They moved to Borger in 1983 and to Amarillo in 1989. She was a longtime member of Faith Covenant Church at Borger. Mr. Lambert died in 1983. Survivors include four children, Helen Hammond and Linda Walker, both of Amarillo, Janice Denning of Richardson and Charles E. Lambert of Borger; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Faith Covenant Church, 1501 S. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Westerman officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Lubbock City Cemetery by Head Family Funeral Home. Mr. Sneed was born in Oklahoma and had been a resident of Seagraves for 25 years. He retired as a pipe fitter and owner of a supply company in Muleshoe. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaJean Armstrong Sneed; and a son, Clifton A. Jones. Survivors include two granddaughters, Irene Armstrong of Kermit and Caro Eloise Gibson of Abilene; and three greatgrandchildren. New Mexico Shell D. Denison FORT SUMNER, N.M. - Shell D. Denison, 60, of Seminole, Texas, a former Fort Sumner resident, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997. A memorial celebration will be at 2 p.m. (CST) today in First United Methodist Church at Seminole. An additional memorial celebration will be at 1 p.m. (MST) Thursday in First United Methodist Church at Fort Sumner. The Rev. Barry Denison, Dr. Lynn Moore, the Rev. Gene Crane and the Rev. Lloyd Stice will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Sumner Cemetery by Chavez Funeral Home. Mr. Denison was born in Roswell. He graduated from Fort Sumner High School and attended the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque. He married Melva Iva Ogden in 1956. Mr. Denison worked as a geological engineer, a real estate developer and an executive in the soft drink industry. He returned to Fort Sumner in 1971 to go into business with his father. While attending Eastern New Mexico University in Portales and Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Mr. Denison began serving as pastor in 1977 at First United Methodist Church in San Jon and Grady. He also had served in Amarillo; Slaton, Texas; Lamesa, Texas; Lubbock, Texas; and Big Spring, Texas. He was serving in Seminole. Survivors include his wife; a son, Barry Reed Denison of Jerusalem, Israel; a daughter, Sharon Denison Lopez of Fort Sumner; a brother, Stephen C. Denison of Pasco, Wash.; and six grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner, Trinity Outreach International or a favorite charity or ministry. Lois Lasater Hughes PORTALES, N.M. - Lois Lasater Hughes, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Central Christian Church with Alan Conners officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery at Floyd by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hughes was born west of Floyd. She grew up near Floyd and attended grade school there. She moved to Taiban in 1933 and completed high school in 1935. She married Jack Lasater in 1934 at Clovis. They ranched south of Taiban and in western Texas and eastern New Mexico before moving to the Ima Valley in 1963. They made their home there for 18 years. In 1980, they moved to Portales. Mr. Lasater died in 1984. Mrs. Lasater was a member of Central Christian Church and the local hospital auxiliary for seven years. She married Billy Hughes in 1987 at Portales. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Ruth Sparks of Lubbock, Texas, and Mildred Porter of Portales; two stepsons, Dudley Hughes of Bovina, Texas, and Joe Hughes of Farwell, Texas; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Frieling of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Emery C. Walker of Roundup, Texas; two sisters, Lavada Sanders of Portales and Grace Steele of Fort Sumner; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Virginia Wilfong PORTALES, N.M. - Virginia "Ginger'' Wilfong, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Durant, Okla. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Wilfong was born in Albany, Okla., and grew up in Durant. She lived in different parts of the country before moving back to Durant in 1970. She married Charles "Chuck'' Wilfong in 1970 at Durant. They moved to Amarillo in 1973 and to Denison in 1979. They returned to Amarillo in 1982 and lived in Amarillo until 1988, when they moved to Gallup. They moved to Portales in 1994. Mrs. Wilfong had worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. She was employed by an appliance store in Amarillo for several years. She also had been the assistant administration for a nursing home. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Caffee. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Danny Lewis of Big Spring, Texas, Bobby Lewis of Sherman, Texas, and William Caffee of Gallup; a stepdaughter, Angela Ferguson of Oklahoma City; her mother, Eula Wallace of Durant; two brothers, Ricky Wallace and Donnie Wallace, both of Durant; two sisters, Cleta St. Clair of Durant and Pat Manley of Ardmore, Okla.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
