Mrs. Ramey was born in Amarillo. She was a graduate of Tascosa High School and attended Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University. She formerly was employed by Barbara Tabor European Skincare & Spa. She married Adam R. Ramey on Oct. 10, 1997. Survivors include her husband of Columbus, Ohio; her mother, Soila N. Smith of Amarillo; two brothers, Jim R. Smith and Toby Lynn Smith, both of Amarillo; and two sisters, Victoria Ivy and Lisa Martinez, both of Amarillo. Roger Dale Sherman Roger Dale Sherman, 48, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Sherman was born in Decatur and had lived in Amarillo for 22 years. He and his wife, Janene, were married in 1972 at Gonzales. He served as a guard at the Clements and Neal units of the state prison for 71/2 years. He served in the Marines and received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge M-14. Mr. Sherman was a member of City Church. Canyon John Martinez John Martinez, 78, of Canyon, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997. Vigil service will be at 5:30 p.m. today in Holley Funeral Home Chapel and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Saint Ann Catholic Church by the Rev. Pyu Phan officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Martinez was born in Bovina. He served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a truckman and a lineman. He was a member of the Canyon Veteran's of Foreign Wars and was Catholic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Martinez in 1965 and a son Steve John Martinez in 1967. New Mexico Helen Mexico Martin Bowers CLOVIS, N.M. - Helen Mexico Martin Bowers, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997. Services were Saturday. Burial was in Mission Garden of Memories by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mrs. Bowers was born in New Mexico Territory at Clovis and was a lifelong resident of Curry County. She married Anson S. Bowers in 1939 on the family farm south of Clovis. She attended Fairfield School, which later was the same school where she began her teaching career in 1931. She later taught seventh and eighth grade at Center School for three years. She was a longtime member of Texico Baptist Church and the WMU at Texico Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Chris Walters of Clovis; two sisters, Bertha Snell of Clovis and Margaret White of Texico; a foster son, Kenneth Bowers of South Lake Tahoe, Nev.; and three grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Portales Baptist Children's Home or Clovis Community College. Maxine Doitchinoff CLAYTON, N.M. - Maxine Doitchinoff, 85, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997. Mrs. Doitchinoff was born in Pawhuska, Okla. She had been a Union County resident most of her life. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1930 and attended Oklahoma Women's College in Chickasha, Okla. She was a bookkeeper and served as deputy county clerk and deputy treasurer in Union County. She also had been active with the agriculture census for the past 30 years. She married Doitchin Doitchinoff in 1945 at Clayton. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jacquelyn Neuharth of Clayton; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Woodard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Clayton Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 187, Clayton, N.M. 88415. Jim Akers TUCUMCARI - Jim Akers, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with Delfido Gonzales of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post officiating. Mr. Akers was born in Texas and had been a resident of Tucson, Ariz., for the last 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from J.I. Case Heavy Equipment Co. He was a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Bille; a daughter, Louise Andrews; a son, James H. Akers; two brothers, John Akers and Bob Akers; and a sister, Nedra Crocker. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until services Monday. Oklahoma Evelyn Adams GUYMON, Okla. - Evelyn Adams, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997. Memorial services were Saturday. Burial was in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Adams was born in Perkins. She married Donald E. Adams in 1945 at Cambridge, Mass. In 1953, they made their home in Guymon, where they established Adam's Hardfacing. Mr. Adams died in 1987. Mrs. Adams was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Joellyn Rich of Los Angeles; a son, Larry Don Adams of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Mrs. Lara and her husband served in the ministry of the Rio Grande Conference of the United Methodist Church for 35 years. They recently retired. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Esteban Lara; three children, Sonia Browder, Helen Simpson and Steve Lara Jr., all of Elgin; four sisters, Catarina Torres of Plainview, Marcelina Bela and Paula Mojica, both of Lubbock, and Oralia Schubert of Belleville, Ill.; four brothers, Milton Arredondo, Pete Arredondo, Joe Arredondo and Enrique Arredondo, all of Lubbock; and three grandchildren. Masonic graveside services will follow at Voss Cemetery in Voss, Texas. Arrangements are by Box Funeral Home of Crane and Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Arnold was born in Coleman County, Texas. He graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1925. He married Estella Davis in 1934 at San Antonio. He moved to Monahans in 1950 and to Odessa in 1964. He was a sales representative for R.J. Reynolds Co. and Martin Glover Co. He later owned a used furniture store in Odessa. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #955 and 32nd Degree York Rites. He had served in the Army. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brillhart of Perryton; two sons, James L. Arnold of College Station and Jesse Arnold of Canyon; a sister, Jetta Havlik of San Angelo; and three grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing Monday from 7:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Grady Webb ROARING SPRINGS - Grady Webb, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Roaring Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, and the Rev. Don Jones, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mr. Webb was born in Santa Anna. He moved to Motley County in 1914. He married Mary Green in 1935. He lived in Los Angeles and worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for 35 years before returning to Roaring Springs in 1970. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Bonnie Edmondson of Matador; and several nieces and nephews. Area Amber Brown Sanders TULIA - Amber Brown Sanders, 99, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997. Services were Saturday. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Sanders was born and raised in Cottonwood, Callahan County. She moved to Whitesboro in 1913, to Marietta, Okla., in 1928, to Wellington in 1941, and to Swisher County in 1956. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She married William Boyett Sanders in 1915 in Sadler. He died in 1977. She was preceded in death by a son, W.C. Sanders in 1986. Survivors include five daughters, Muriel Fincher and Jesse Orr, both of Tulia, Billie Barfield and Jean Hedrick, both of Amarillo and Pauline Hoyler of Dimmitt; five sons, A.T. Sanders of Martha, Okla., and J.L. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Juan Perez, in 1994. Bruce Coleman HEREFORD - Bruce Coleman, 69, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Church of the Nazarene with Ted Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Coleman was a farmer and a former county commissioner. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene. He married Norma Jo Busby. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffery B. Coleman in 1973 and Gary Coleman in November. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cindy Lemons of Ruidoso, N.M.; a brother, James Ray Coleman of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Georgia Nell Porter of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Glasgow was born in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1938. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married J.N. Glasgow in 1957 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Steve C. Smith. Survivors include a brother, Robert Patrick of Wellington; a sister, Virginia Thomas of Wellington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Colusa High School and the GMAC Business School. She was a bookkeeper. She worked for Buck and Willoh Garage in Colusa and Cooper Union Station and Garage in Leggett, Calif. She married Jess "Ted" Cooper Sr. in 1945 at Marysville, Calif. She moved with her husband to Texas in 1973. They moved to Wheeler in 1976. Mrs. Cooper worked for Beef Cattle Co. in Wheeler and operated the Western Gift Store. She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge. She also was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Sharon Horton of Wheeler, Karen Miranda of Colusa, Pam Deardorff of Willow Creek, Calif., and Denise Sledge of Yukon, Okla.; a son, Jesse T. Cooper of Wheeler; two sisters, Helen Bumpus of Pleasant Grove, Calif., and Harriet Moore of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Melvin "Happy" Cox of Colusa; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She moved from Hardesty, Okla., to Panhandle in 1955. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Atheneum Club. She was retired from the auditing department at Panhandle Independent School District. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, and a great-grandson, Josiah Roberts in August. Survivors include two sons, Mike D. Roberts of Panhandle and Phil Roberts of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Kaye Smith of Borger; three brothers, Ray L. She moved to Clardy in 1902 where she attended school in Bethel. She attended Mary Canner College in Paris, Texas. She taught school at Minter for three years. She married Lundy L. Stalls in 1917. She moved from Lone Oak to Pampa in 1926 and in 1931 she moved to White Deer. She had been a resident of Garretson's Retirement Center in Panhandle and later at McLean Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957. Survivors include two sons, James Lane Stalls of Amarillo and William Duncan Stalls of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Mary Helen Stalls Wooten of Baytown; a sister, Gertrude Lynch of Paris, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
