Amarillo Edna Anderson Edna Johnson Anderson, 71, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Baptist Church with the Rev. Grover Neal, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Anderson was born in Cincinnati and educated in the public school system. She had been a longtime Amarillo resident. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Anderson. Survivors include two daughters, Eva Anderson of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Evonne Anderson of Amarillo; five sons, Robert Graham of Raleigh, N.C., Leroy Anderson Jr., Vernon Anderson and Kenneth Anderson, all of Amarillo, and Allen Anderson III of Pine Bluff; a brother, Edward Johnson of Rockdale; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2901 Wichita Ave. Lucille Creswell Hite Lucille Creswell Hite, 81, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. There will be private family services. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Ms. Hite was born in Moorewood, Okla. She graduated from Hammon High School in Hammon, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1931. She married Harold Hite in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1973. She graduated from Amarillo College and worked for S.I.C. She began working for Pantex in 1956 and retired in 1974 as a training specialist. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Sublett of Hereford; two sons, Bill Hite of Pampa and Roger Hite of Amarillo; two sisters, Elva Clifft of Albrightsville, Pa., and Hazel Webb of Canyon; and six grandchildren. Lillian Blanche Brent Lillian Blanche Brent, 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Garrett, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Brent was born in Amarillo to a pioneer ranching family of the Texas Panhandle. Her great-grandfather, Joseph P. Sneed, was the first Methodist circuit rider in the state of Texas and was instrumental in the establishment of Southwestern University at Georgetown. She had lived in Amarillo all her life. She graduated from Southwestern University at Georgetown and later donated the Brent Atrium to the school. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Polk Street United Methodist Church. She married R.P. Brent Jr. in 1933. He died in 1973. Survivors include two sons, R.P. "Bob" Brent III and J. Phillip Brent, both of Amarillo; a brother, Phillip Thompson of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. The family will be at 3205 S. Parker St. New Mexico Gertrude B. Montgomery TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Gertrude B. Montgomery, 94, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Witcher, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Private burial will follow. Miss Montgomery was born in Carters, Ga. She moved with her family to Tucumcari in 1915. After graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1922, she attended the University of New Mexico. She completed additional studies at the University of Colorado and the University of Tulsa. She received her degree from the University of Oklahoma. Her teaching career spanned 42 years of teaching third and fourth grades. Following retirement from public schools in 1966, she and her niece, Betty Montgomery, owned and operated the Uptown Kindergarten until the mid-1970s. She was a lifelong member of Delta Kappa Gamma, AAUW and Center Street Methodist Church. She was inducted into the New Mexico Eastern District Education Association Hall of Fame in 1970. Survivors include many nieces and nephews including R.F. Frank Montgomery of Tucumcari. The family suggests memorials be to New Mexico Boys Ranch or to Center Street Methodist Church. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time. Delubino Chavez SANTA ROSA, N.M. - Delubino Chavez, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in Chavez Funeral Home Chapel and will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church at Puerto De Luna with the Rev. Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will be in El Calvario Cemetery at Puerto De Luna. Mr. Chavez was born and raised in Puerto De Luna and attended school there. He married Rose Griego in 1933 at Puerto De Luna. He was a longtime cattle rancher and farmer. He was employed by Boni Lucero, Luciano Serrano and Frank Smith's Square Deal Market. He was a member and mayordomo of Nuestra Senora De Refugio Church and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church and the San Jose Society. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary L. Cordova of Santa Rosa, Diana Martinez of Santa Fe and Florence Campos of Aurora, Colo.; six sons, Celestino Chavez of Hillsdale, Ill., Jose I. Chavez of Santa Fe, Max Chavez of Farmington, Trinny Chavez of Santa Rosa, Delubino Chavez Jr. of Chicago and Frank Chavez of Las Vegas, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Eva Lynn Allen EDMOND, Okla. - Eva Lynn Allen, 88, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Mount Hope Cemetery at Webb City, Mo. Arrangements are by Baggerley Funeral Home. Mrs. Allen was born in Webb City. She had been a legal secretary for the Halliburton Co. She was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club and Highland Park Baptist Church and choir at Duncan. She also was a member and past president of the Duncan chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She did volunteer work for a variety of charitable organizations. Her husband, Peter G. Allen, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, R. Douglas Allen of Edmond and G. Lanny Allen of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She attended West Texas State University and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington. She moved from Cedar Hill to Ovilla in 1984. She was employed with Mitchell International in computer sales. She married Kelly Peugh in 1971 at Petersburg. He died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Eckerle of Ovilla; her mother and stepfather, Lorene and J.L. Armentrout of Petersburg; and a grandson. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa. Mrs. Kendricks was born in Indian Territory. She married Dave Kendricks in 1915 at Hogden, Okla. He died in 1985. She had been a resident of Kingsmill since the 1920s. She was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by three sons, Winston Kendricks, Lester Kendricks and Muriel Kendricks. Survivors include three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four greatgreat-grandchildren. Movelda Franks SHAMROCK - Movelda "Bo" Franks, 82, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Kris Riggs, pastor of Eleventh Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery. Mrs. Franks was born in Decatur and moved with her parents to Shamrock in 1927. She attended school in Lela and Shamrock. She married Bryant Franks in 1931 at Beckham County, Okla. She and her husband had lived in Shamrock, Borger, Sunray and Amarillo. They also had lived in Shiprock, N.M., and Keyes, Okla. Her husband died in 1969. She was employed by the Keyes school system until retiring in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Hagelberg of Boise City, Okla.; a sister, Minnie Lee Pakan of Shamrock; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Loetta Ferguson TURKEY - Loetta Ferguson, 66, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, in Childress. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Clinton, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mrs. Ferguson was born in Turkey and had been a lifelong resident there. She graduated from Turkey High School and attended Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie. She owned and operated Ferguson Insurance Agency for more than 20 years. She was a member of Assembly of God Church. She married Eugene Ferguson in 1950 at Raton, N.M. He died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Crowell of Childress; a son, Bruce Ferguson of Claude; her mother, Alice Fuston of Turkey; three brothers, Denny Fuston and James Fuston, both of Turkey, and Johnny Fuston of Hereford; a sister, Ruth Lyles of Childress; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be in lieu of flowers to the Turkey Volunteer Fire Department.
