Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Anderson of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Kelley was born in Columbus, Ohio, and had lived in Amarillo since 1976. He was a staff sergeant in the Air Force and served in the Navy, retiring after 22 years. He was a veteran of World War II. He married Betty Ridley in 1963 at Sacramento, Calif. Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Kelley of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Linda Stankiewicz of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Blanche Trevino of Las Vegas and Charlotte Hopkins of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center. Timothy Paul Ren Timothy Paul Ren, 27, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Rick Mathis, pastor of West Amarillo Christian Church, officiating. Mr. Ren was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and had lived in Amarillo for 14 years. He attended Caprock High School. He was a fitter for Casteel Fire Protection. He also had worked for Affiliated Foods. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Mercedes Gillam of Amarillo; his parents, Robert and Susan Ren of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Eugene Ren of Dallas; two sisters, Lovana Ren of Des Moines and Terri Smothers of Sigourney, Iowa; and grandparents, Phyllis Leonard of Martensdale, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. William Knight of Danbury, Wis. Vardaman Cook Vardaman Cook, 84, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Cook was born in Wiley and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1944. He graduated from Happy High School and served with the Army during World War II in the North African and Italian campaigns. He worked for Jenkins Building Materials from 1951 until retiring in 1992. He also worked as a farmer and a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railway as well as working for the Amarillo Police Department and the circulation department of the Amarillo Globe-News. Mr. Cook was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church and the Wesley Comrades Sunday School Class. He also was a member of North Amarillo Kiwanis Club, where he had the record for the most continuous attendance. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 45 Uppers Club. He was a charter member of the Sunday Night Singles, the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and the Senior Citizens Bridge Club. Survivors include a son, Van Gerald Cook of Amarillo; a friend, Betty Gelatt of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Adell Nixon Adell Nixon, 80, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. Stan Fortenberry, pastor of First Assembly of God of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Mrs. Nixon was born in Jacksboro. She was a former longtime resident of Spearman and Pampa. She was a cafeteria worker at Spearman High School for several years before retiring. She was a Baptist. She married W.L. "Bill" Nixon in 1947 at Borger. He died in 1990. Survivors include four daughters, Betty J. Clark of Amarillo, Billie Allen of Pampa, Louise Barnes of Oklahoma City and Anna Garcia of Gainesville; two sisters, Billie Jo Jensen and Vera Ellexon, both of Phoenix; a brother, Sonny Wheeler of El Paso; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Juanita M. Lemons Juanita M. Lemons, 88, of 2026 S. Austin St., Apt. G-74, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997. She moved to Amarillo in 1922 from Pampa. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church and the Pastor's Sunday School Class. She was director of the Children's Building in the 1960s. She married L. Ray Lemons in 1972 at Amarillo. Survivors include seven daughters, Maxine Certain of West Monroe, La., Mary Lou Stewart, Sue Arlene Bird and Ginger McCartor, all of Amarillo, Faye Nell Allton of Stroud, Okla., Judy Poe of Briggsdale, Colo., and Linda Weaver of Richmond; two sisters, Jill Sullivan of Tucson, Ariz., and Nancy Foster of Decatur; two brothers, David Goodwin of South Lake and Jerry Goodwin of Amarillo; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was a former longtime resident of Phillips. She married E.J. "Jack" Underhill in 1939 at Muskogee, Okla. He died in 1971. She was a member of First Christian Church of Borger, the Disciples of Christ, Creative Arts of Borger and the Golden Grandmothers Club of Borger. Survivors include a son, Bob Underhill of Amarillo; a stepsister, Doris Echols of Fort Smith, Ark.; and a grandchild. Era Bell Barker Era Bell Barker, 97, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home East Mausoleum, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Wayne Sheffield of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Barker moved to Amarillo in 1936 from Waco. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Organization. She married Cecil Thomas Barker in 1936 at Boswell, Okla. He died in 1988. Survivors include three sons, Virgil Barker of Canyon, Jim Barker of Sacramento, Calif., and Mel Barker of Olympia, Wash.; a daughter, Ruby Boyd of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today in Christ the King Catholic Church by Monsignor Joseph Tash of Amarillo, and Monsignor Donald Zimmerman and Monsignor John T. Gulczynski, both of Dallas. Prayers of Commitment will be in the chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery followed by family graveside services. Arrangements are by Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. Mrs. Wasoff was born in Seattle. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Austin and then attended the University of Texas. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry K. Wasoff. Survivors include a son, Harry K. Wasoff Jr. of Dallas; three daughters, Amy Wasoff of Dallas, Jean Riddle of Amarillo and Dallas and Joanne Smith of Dallas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Velma Vivian McBride Godown KEYES, Okla. - Velma Vivian McBride Godown, 93, a former Keyes resident, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, in Albuquerque, N.M. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Keyes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Del Watkins officiating. Burial will be Saturday in Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Godown was born in Fairfield County, near Covington. The family moved to Cimarron County and homesteaded about seven miles southeast of Keyes. Mrs. Godown graduated from high school at Goodwell. She married Joseph Arthur Godown in 1924. They lived in Keyes and later moved to Boise City, where she worked in the county clerk's office. She moved to Albuquerque in 1935 to be near her husband, who was in the Veterans Hospital. Mrs. Godown attended beauty college to become a beautician. She also worked in the Albuquerque post office. She remained active until the latter part of 1996, when she moved to the Presbyterian Pickard Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Albert Ray Godown and James Donald Godown; and her daughter, Dolores Arlene Godown Smith. Survivors include a son, David Godown of Albuquerque; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Area Hugh Vincent SUDAN - Hugh Vincent, 97, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Hawthorne of Amarillo and the Rev. Lyndal Fletcher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Vincent was born in Spring City, Tenn. He moved to Sudan in 1940 from Portales, N.M. He was a past mayor of Sudan, a member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Sudan Rotary Club. He had been the owner and operator of a grain elevator for several years. Mr. Vincent married Maude Tisdale in 1923 at Rogers, N.M. She died in 1981. He married Patty Bausman in 1982 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Coye Vincent of Los Altos, Calif., and Kenneth Vincent of Lubbock; two daughters, Eula Dean Downs of Roscoe and Leota Harley of Midland; a sister, Ona Dean Morgan of Portales, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Claude Brock PAMPA - Claude Brock, 87, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hobart Baptist Church with the Rev. J.C. Burt, pastor of Barrett Baptist Church, and the Rev. Harold Hook, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Brock was born in Grandfield, Okla. He married Myrtle Foster in 1940. They moved to Pampa in 1944 from Canyon. Mr. Brock retired from ARCO in 1975 after 31 years of service. He was a charter member and a deacon of Hobart Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Helen Allison of Pampa; two sons, Eugene Brock and Joe Dan Brock, both of Pampa; five sisters, Nora Clawson of Lubbock, and Lou Hoo, Sadie Lane, Cecile Plumblee and Alma Nelson, all of Dimmitt; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Raymond A. Tiede BORGER - Raymond A. Tiede, 74, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fred Kelm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Tiede was born in Parkston, S.D. He lived in Borger from 1946 to 1960. He returned to Borger in 1972 from Bartlesville, Okla. He graduated from Yankton College in Yankton, S.D. He married Maxine L. Haag in 1944 at Parkston. They did volunteer work for the Department of Human Services. Mrs. Tiede died in 1996. He also was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Tiede, in 1953. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 40 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He did the stained glass windows at the church. Mr. Tiede served with the Army during World War II. Survivors include a son, Alan Tiede of Borger; a daughter, Joan Gordon of Borger; a brother, Kenneth Tiede of Minneapolis; a sister, Helen Henderson of Derby, Kan.; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Trinity Lutheran Church or a favorite charity. Helen R. Taylor QUANAH - Helen Rosalee Burnam Taylor, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, in Vernon. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clinton Young officiating. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery at Chillicothe. Mrs. Taylor was born in Ranger and moved to Chillicothe in 1914 with her parents. She moved from Vernon to Quanah in 1979. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Quanah. She married William Radford Taylor in 1923 at Chillicothe. He died in 1967. Survivors include a daughter, Novalene Hodges of Quanah; four granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Lung Association. Sada C. Hoskins SPEARMAN - Sada C. Hoskins, 99, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. B.L. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Hoskins was born in Vandalia, Mo. She had lived in the Spearman area since 1926, moving from Texhoma, Okla. She attended Holy Names College in Seattle and received a teaching degree from Oklahoma Normal Teachers College in Alva, Okla., in 1918. She taught kindergarten in Spearman for several years in the 1960s. She was the Hansford County Clerk from 1958 to 1962. She married Fred John Hoskins in 1920 at Texhoma. He died in 1958. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Vera Beth Thompson, in 1989. Mrs. Hoskins was a homemaker and a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 721 in Spearman. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dahlia Flower Club and the Spearman China Painters Women's Missionary Union. She was a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club. Survivors include four daughters, Frances Kilgore and Joann Lee, both of Spearman, Sada Ruth Long of Bartlesville, Okla., and Winifred Hester of Texline; a son, Fred J. Hoskins Jr. of Hurricane, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; 22 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First Baptist Church music department, 123 S. Bernice, Spearman, Texas 79081. Harry W. Donner Jr. SUDAN - Harry W. Donner Jr., 63, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sudan Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Donner was born in Evansville, Ind., and graduated from Central High School in Evansville. He was employed in the grocery business for more than 40 years. He had been employed by Lowe's Pay and Save grocery store for more than 10 years. He was manager of the Lowe's store in Sudan at the time of his death. Survivors include two sons, Mark William Donner and Timmothy Wayne Donner, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Shelia Lynn Munsee of Colorado Springs; three sisters, Olive Woods of Montgomery, Ill, Delores Rigsby of Evansville and Beverely McBride of Owensboro, Ky.; and three grandchildren. Alvin W. Cator Jr. GRUVER - Alvin W. "Bill" Cator Jr., 51, of Sunray, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gruver United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Cator was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime Gruver-area resident. He had lived near Sunray for the past five years. He married Dorothy Smith in 1966 at Spearman. Mr. Cator was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Gruver United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Loyd Cator of Lubbock; a daughter, Davonna Daharsh of Spearman; his mother, Rosalie Cator of Gruver; three sisters, Larue Mayo and Amy Babbs, both of Gruver, and Angie Pool of St. John, Kan.; a brother, D.A.
