Ladd MULESHOE - Earl M. Ladd, 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Ladd was born in Yale County, Ark. He married Clemmie Cooper in 1930 at Turkey, Texas. She died in 1992. He was the owner of Earl Ladd and Son Inc., and had worked as an implement dealer in Muleshoe since 1944. He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Ladd was the fire chief of the Muleshoe Fire Department for 18 years before retiring in 1972. Survivors include a son, John L. Ladd of LaPorte; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. John Bennett Jr. SHAMROCK - John Bennett Jr., 70, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Church of Christ with Sid Smith, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Bennett had lived in the Shamrock area most of his life. He served with the Army. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 10 years and worked as a barber for more than 25 years. He was a member of and deacon at the Church of Christ. Mr. Bennett married Laquita Werhan in 1967 at Sentinel, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Bennett of Shamrock; two brothers, Keith Bennett of Livingston and Jerry Bennett of Guymon, Okla.; two sisters, Virginia Cowan of San Antonio and Genive Lidell of Fort Davis; and a grandson. Lorene Rachel Arbuckle MCLEAN - Lorene Rachel Arbuckle, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. James Mantooth of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Lamb Funeral Home. Mrs. Arbuckle was born in Miami, Texas. She returned to McLean from Arizona in 1975. She was a Baptist. She married Garland Arbuckle in Phoenix. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sisters, Clarene Williams of McLean and Pauline Smith of Amarillo; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Glenn T. Moore PAMPA - Glenn T. Moore, 80, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in White Deer Cemetery at White Deer with the Rev. Bob Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Moore was born in Walters, Okla. He moved to Pampa in 1929 from Borger. He was a 1934 graduate of Pampa High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist. Mr. Moore married Billie Wandell Arnold in 1977 at Pampa. She died in 1994. Survivors include two nieces, Carol Surratt of Pampa and Glenda Tate of Bivins; and two nephews, Jerry Taylor of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Mike Taylor of Trinity. Eunice Irene Groves PLAINVIEW - Eunice Irene Baker Groves, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in East Mound Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Ms. Groves was born in Mitchell County. She moved to Motley County at an early age and graduated from Matador High School. She moved to Plainview in 1953. She was a retired beauty operator and a member of College Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include a special friend, Virgie Bannister of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. Lillian Roberson PLAINVIEW - Lillian Roberson, 79, of Denver City, a former resident of Plainview, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997. Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Shawn Fouts, pastor, and the Rev. Randy Lawson, pastor of the Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Roberson was born and raised in Jackson, Okla., and attended school there. She married Wilburn Roberson in 1931 at Temple, Okla. He died in 1971. She moved to Plainview from Temple in 1949. She worked for the Plainview Independent School District in the cafeterias at Hillcrest, Ash and T-Bird. Mrs. Roberson was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include four daughters, Gloria McNutt of Hereford, Florene Carter of Denver City, and Joretta Wyatt and Claudetta Sanmann, both of Plainview; two sons, Melvin Roberson of Riverbank, Calif., and Don Roberson of Plainview; a brother, Ross Trest of Walters, Okla.; a sister, Delores Hawkins of Walters; 18 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Juan Domingo Atilano Rosalez DIMMITT - Juan Domingo Atilano Rosalez, 26, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Rosalez was born in Dimmitt and had been a lifetime Dimmitt resident. He married Julie Salinas in 1994 at Muleshoe. Mr. Rosalez was Catholic. Survivors include his wife; a son, Juan Domingo Atilano Rosalez Jr. of Dimmitt; his father, Domingo Rosalez of Dimmitt; and two sisters, Beatrice Aguero of Dimmitt and Mary Olgin of Midland. Bryan Wade Gregory DIMMITT - Bryan Wade Gregory, 33, of Lubbock, a former Dimmitt resident, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997. Burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park by FoskeyLilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Gregory was born in Plainview. He lived in Dimmitt before moving to Lubbock in 1983. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1982 and then attended Abilene Christian University and Lubbock Christian College. He was the manager of Supercuts on University Avenue in Lubbock for five years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his parents, Bill and Dalia Gregory of Dimmitt; three brothers, Bill J. Gregory and Blaine Gregory, both of San Antonio, and David Gregory of Abilene; and grandmother, Minnie E. Burt, pastor of Barrett Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Cooper was born in Pilot Point. She came to Skellytown in 1956 from Spring Creek near Borger. She was a member of Skellytown First Baptist Church. She married Louis Lynn Cooper in 1926 at Durant, Okla. He died in 1961. Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Hood of Pampa; a sister, Jaye Roderick of Arlington; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Rattan was born in Hickory Grove and moved from Cooper to Clarendon in 1920. She married Meral Layfette Rattan in 1917 at Cooper. He died in 1964. Mrs. Rattan was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, where she worked as a nursery worker for more than 50 years. Survivors include three daughters, Sibyl Jones of Clarendon, Bernese Rattan of Rogers, Ark., and Annese Bennett of Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, Dennis Rattan of Dennard, Ark., and Johnny R. Rattan and Rick Rattan, both of Clarendon; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Ciprano Ybarra HEREFORD - Ciprano Ybarra, 46, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. He also spent 20 years with Burlington Railroad as a switchman. He married Beatrice Terrell in 1936 at Grantham. Mrs. Barrow was born in Espanola, N.M., and attended high school in Elk City. She married Robert Barrow in 1930 at Sayre, Okla. She and her husband moved to Bonham in 1941. They later lived in Bella Vista, Ark., before moving to Amarillo in 1985. Mr. Barrow died in 1986. Mrs. Barrow served in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps and was junior leader of the 10th Company, 5th Regiment at the Army base in Daytona Beach, Fla. She was a member of the Christian Church and was past president of the Christian Women's Group in Bonham. She also was president of her Sunday school class. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1933 and then attended Amarillo College. She married Francis Clarkson Durkin in 1948 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They lived in Santa Fe, N.M., after retiring from the American Hotel and Motel Association. Mr. Durkin died in April. Mrs. Durkin returned to Amarillo to make her home at the Craig Methodist Retirement Community. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Aragon was born in Tucumcari. He was retired from the Bill Wilkerson Construction Co. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Survivors include a son, Leroy Aragon of Tucumcari; two sisters, Gloria Montoya of Tucumcari and Margaret Lucero of Daily City, Calif.; a brother, Henry Aragon of San Francisco; and a granddaughter. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Yard was born in Copan. She graduated from Copan High School and attended college at Panhandle State University in Goodwell. She married T.M. Yard in 1941 at Copan. He died in July. The couple moved to the Guymon area from Borger, Texas, in 1948. She was a homemaker and served as librarian for the city of Guymon for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She was an active member of Grace Southern Baptist Church, Baptist Women's Missionary Union, Ladies Lioness and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon K. Maxwell of Fruitvale, Texas; two sisters, Treva L. Kerr of Pasadena, Texas, and Cleta M. Codding of Mustang; two brothers, James H. Burrows of Decatur, Ill., and C.V. Burial will be at 5 p.m. at Borger, Texas, by Haigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Sions was born in Watonga. She grew up and attended school in Watonga and graduated in 1926. She then attended Hills Business College. She married Virgil L. Montgomery in 1929. She and her four children returned to the Watonga community in 1935. She later married George Lynn Sions in 1943. They lived in the Oakwood community where the couple owned and operated a drug store for 12 years. In 1967, they retired and moved to Borger. Mr. Sions died in 1989. In 1992, Mrs. Sions moved to Canton to be near her daughter, Joy. Mrs. Sions was a charter member of Watonga First Baptist Church and a 50year lifetime member of the Weatherford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three daughters, Norma Coble and Anita Steinle, both of Runaway Bay, Texas, and Joy Brandly of Mannford; two sons, Gene Sions of Borger and Walter Montgomery of Franklin, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brunson was born in Gruver and had lived in Overton for 22 years. She was a former publisher of the Gruver Leader and a former editor of the Bronte Enterprise. She also had worked for the Overton Press in sales and photography. She was a rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a leader of the 4H club for more than 20 years. She was a former member of the Overton City Council. Mrs. Brunson was preceded in death by her husband, Fate Brunson, in 1985. Survivors include a son, Cliff Brunson of Overton; and a grandchild. Ted Jones LUBBOCK - Ted Jones, 73, a former Morton resident, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jim Beggs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mr. Jones was born in Turkey. He worked for Silvers Butane of Morton for 33 years. He retired in 1988. He was a disabled Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Morton. He married Peggy Marie Singleton in 1948 at Morton. She died in 1988. Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Dawson, Anita Bean, and Nadene Brattain, all of Lubbock, and Rebecca Jones of Muleshoe; a brother, Derrell Jones of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
