Anderton Eula M. Anderton, 70, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. David Fletcher of Northwest Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Anderton was born in Amarillo and had been a resident of Amarillo most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Harris of Amarillo and Vicky Bubnich of Thornton, Colo.; two sons, Buster Frederick of Carrollton and Freddie Bryant of Amarillo; two sisters, Leona McPherson of Herrin, Ill., and Jimmie Lea Franz of Denver; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 7922 Simpson Drive. Dr. Betty M. Cooper Dr. Betty M. Cooper, 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. William D. Nix of St. Andrews Episcopal Church officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Dr. Cooper was born in San Angelo. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1932 and from the University of Texas in 1936. She also graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston. She interned at Women's College Hospital in Philadelphia and completed her residency at Kieffer Hospital in Detroit. She did a three-year postgraduate anesthesiology study at the University of Texas in Galveston. In 1948 she began working for Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies. She also worked at the hospital there. While in Oak Ridge she was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. She also founded Pilot and Zonta service clubs and served as president of each. She moved to Amarillo in 1967 and was on staff at all three Amarillo hospitals. She retired from Northwest Texas Hospital in 1980. She was a member of the Potter-Randall Medical Society and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Survivors include a brother, Charles Cooper III of Dover, Del.; and a sister, Doris Stephens of Amarillo. The family requests memorials be to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Building Fund. Canyon Charles B. Wilson Charles B. "C.W." Wilson, 64, of Canyon, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor, and the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery at Wayside by Holley Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Wilson was born in Happy. He farmed in the Wayside community until 1975 when he moved to Canyon to work for the city. He married Ferne Summers in 1952 at Amarillo. He was a member of Wayside Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vicki Matthews and Johnnie McClain, both of Amarillo; two sons, Roger Wilson of Canyon and Ernie Wilson of Amarillo; two brothers, Ervin Wilson of Comanche and Darrell Wilson of Goldthwaite; and 14 grandchildren. New Mexico Elmer Franklin Cox CLOVIS, N.M. - Elmer Franklin Cox, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Pleasant Hill with the Rev. Mike Tucker officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Cox was born in Clovis. He was an Army veteran of World War II and worked as a tile setter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Daniel. Survivors include four sons, John Cox and Richard Cox, both of Clovis, Bill Cox of Houston and Alton Cox of Lakewood, Calif.; three brothers, James M. Cox of San Angelo, Texas, Charlie A. Frederico Eloy Garza Sr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Frederico Eloy "Loy" Garza Sr., 53, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Rev. Daniel M. Balizan officiating. Mr. Garza was born in Clovis and had lived in Clovis all his life. He entered the Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He worked for the civil service as a planner in the engineering department at Cannon Air Force Base. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 25 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Leon Earl Sparkman ORLANDO, Fla. - Leon Earl Sparkman, 55, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997. Services were Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Winter Park Funeral Home with Roy Manning, pastor, officiating. Mr. Sparkman was born in Shamrock, Texas. He married Ovell Gay Martin in 1958 at Michigan. He entered the Army in 1958 and was disabled in the Vietnam War in 1962. He was a Baptist. Jessie Headstream Nunn SWEETWATER - Jessie Headstream Nunn, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997. Mrs. Nunn was born in Roby and had lived most of her life in Fisher county. She was a teacher and a Methodist. She married Charlie C. Nunn in 1944 at Sweetwater. He preceded her in death. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park. Mr. Knotts was born in Carmine. He moved to Quanah in 1991 from Vernon, where he had been a janitor for Hillcrest Country Club. Agnes McGehee Stockett WAYSIDE - Agnes McGehee Stockett, 97, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, in Tulia. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel at Tulia with the Rev. Jacklyn McNeil, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Happy, officiating. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery. Mrs. Stockett was born and raised in Wayside. She attended school in Wayside and college in Canyon. She taught school in the Milo community for several years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Happy for 50 years. She married W.R. Stockett in 1922 at Wayside. He died in 1976. Survivors include three nephews, Roy Stockett of Tulia, N.M. "Mack" Stockett of Claude and C.D. Mr. Saldana was born in Martindale. He grew up in Martindale and attended school there until moving to Tulia in the late 1940s. He was a foreman for Earl Bell Cosby Well Pump Service for 25 years. He retired in 1978. He married Delia Corral. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gloria Ann Barrerea and Barbara Alvarado, both of Amarillo, and Delia Ybarra of Plainview; four sons, John David Saldana and Roberto Saldana, both of Tulia, and Federico Saldana Jr. and Ramon Saldana, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Guadalupe Saldana of El Paso, Gilbert Saldana of Kress and Fabian Saldana of Tulia; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Leon McClendon WELLINGTON - Leon McClendon, 76, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Tims, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Arlie Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. McClendon was born in Dodson. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Mary Anna Bledsoe in 1946 at Childress. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He died in 1981. She formerly was employed by Richards Memorial Hospital and Cal's Restaurant. She also had worked for JCPenney and the Ray Coffee Shop. She was a member of First Christian Church. Michael Dee Yeager FRITCH - Michael Dee Yeager, 43, of Dallas, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997. Mrs. Moore was born in Lorenzo. She graduated from Rule High School and attended McMurray College in Abilene and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She married Edell Moore in 1939 at Rule. They moved from Lubbock to Abilene in 1939 and to Floydada in 1951. Jesse Jackson Burns PAMPA - Jesse Jackson Burns, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Scott Barton, pastor, and the Rev. Bob Hudson, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Burns was born in Sims, Ark., and later moved with his family to Oklahoma. He married Goldie Keys in 1936 at Pocasset, Okla. They lived in Pocasset until 1950 when they moved to Quail. He farmed in the Quail area until retiring. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996 and a son, William Burns. Mr. Burns had been a resident of Pampa since 1974. He was active in the Assembly of God Church in Wellington and then became a member of Calvary Assembly of God in Pampa. Survivors include four sons, Herman Burns of Madera, Calif., Jesse Burns of Flatonia, Herschel Burns of Pampa and Dwight Burns of Plainview; two daughters, Rachel Bartlett of Stockton, Calif., and Doralean Darnell of Amarillo; a stepson, Bob Hudson of Mack, Colo.; three brothers, Elmer Burns of Lathrop, Calif., Leonard Burns of Cement, Okla., and Tally Burns of Chickasha, Okla.; a sister, Lona Daniels of Shafter, Calif.; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and greatgreat-great-grandchildren. Following the services the body will be available for viewing at Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Okla., from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Clinton Cemetery at Clinton. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Shattuck, Okla. Mrs. Meier was born in Bessie, Okla. After graduating from Clinton High School, she married James Powell. They lived in Clinton and other towns before making their home in Pampa. They owned and operated a dry cleaning business in Pampa for several years. She then attended beauty college and owned and operated her own beauty salon until retiring in 1993. She was active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She married Alex Lee Meier in 1987 at Las Vegas. They made their home in Darrouzett.
