Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Emmanuel Church of God in Christ at Plainview with the Rev. Henry Jackson, pastor of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Sanders was born in Smithfield. She moved to Littlefield from Temple at a young age. She moved to Plainview from Olton in 1962. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ of Plainview. She was preceded in death by two daughters. Survivors include a daughter, Willie Mae Carter of Plainview; four sisters, Anna Sanders, Erra Sanders, Renebell Sanders, all of Temple, and Ossie Sanders of Saginaw, Mich.; a brother, L. Lee Sanders of Temple; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. John F. Robinson CHILDRESS - John F. "Johnny'' Robinson, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church of Childress with the Rev. Johnny Robertson of Childress First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Robinson was born in Childress and had been a resident all his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church, Elks Club, and Masonic Lodge No. 695 A.F. & A.M. He also spent 20 years with Burlington Railroad as a switchman. He married Beatrice Terrell in 1936 at Graham. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Clara Ann Meek of San Antonio and Claudia Elizabeth Oliver of Dallas; a son, Joe Robinson of Childress; two sisters, Freddie Mae Pace of Beaumont and Fay Rovilo of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Gladys Culbertson DALHART - Gladys Culbertson, 104, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. James Edwards, pastor, Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Culbertson was born in Clay County, Ind., and was raised in Brazil, Ind. She moved with her family to Tucumcari, N.M. in 1910. She married W.O. Culbertson in 1914 at Dalhart. He died in 1959. Mrs. Culbertson was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and was believed to be the oldest and only living spouse of an XIT cowhand. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Culbertson and W.O. Culbertson Jr.; and two daughters, Lula Belle Haliburton and Fannie Louise Scardello. Survivors include two sons, Joe Jack Culbertson and Milton E. Culbertson, both of Dalhart; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Lakeview United Methodist Church. Opal Blanche Crow TULIA - Opal Blanche Crow, 90, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Tulia First Baptist Church with the Rev. Willis Blair, pastor of First Baptist Church in Hatch, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Crow was born in Haskell County. She was a homemaker. She moved to Tulia in 1922 and lived in the community for 73 years. She attended Tulia public schools. She was a member of Tulia First Baptist Church. She married D.D. "Buster'' Crow in 1947 at Dimmitt. He died in 1994. Survivors include a sister, Pearl West of Dumas. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. H. Rex Aycock TULIA - H. Rex Aycock, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Tulia First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Hodge, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Aycock was born in Bell County. He moved to Tulia in 1929. He was involved in farming, real estate and insurance. He was a member of Tulia Volunteer Fire Department and Tulia First United Methodist Church. Mr. Aycock was a York Rite Mason and a 50-year member of Tulia Masonic Lodge No. 733 A.F. & A.M. He married Luella Woodward in 1932 at Portales. She died in April. Survivors include two sons, Robert Rex Aycock of Lubbock and Charles Franklin Aycock of Farwell; four sisters, Lucille Wood, Eunice McPherson, Opal Harris and Ernestine Beecher, all of Lubbock; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Edith Taylor FRITCH - Edith Taylor, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Lloyd Stice of Fritch First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell of Fritch. Mrs. Taylor was born in Henderson, Iowa. She came to Amarillo in 1946 from Sanford. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Senior Citizens, United Methodist Women and Fritch First United Methodist Church. She married G.W. Taylor in 1936 at Amarillo. He died in 1986. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ruby Viner of Fritch; two nephews, Frank Viner of Fritch and George Viner of Sunray; and a niece, Charlene Rawlins of Fritch. The family requests memorials be to Fritch First United Methodist Church. Christopher Don Wilson STINNETT - Christopher Don Wilson, 23, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stinnett United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don White and the Rev. Landrum Medlock officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Wilson was a native of Borger and a lifetime Stinnett-area resident. He was a former member of Boy Scout Explorer Post No. 80 where he was a member of Kwahdi Dancers in Amarillo. He was a 1992 Dumas High School graduate. He was a general contractor and owner of Adobe Construction Co. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Elizabeth Wilson of Clovis, N.M.; a sister, Julia Elizabeth Wilson of Clovis; and grandparents, Herb and Pat Ray of Stinnett. Mr. Janow was a native of Borger and a lifetime resident of the Stinnett area. He was an electrician with Howard Electric of Stinnett. He was also a member of Victory Baptist Church and a graduate of Stinnett High School. Survivors include his mother, Teresa Owens of Stinnett; his father, Earl Owens of Sanford; his stepfather, Tony McCormick of Stinnett; and grandparents, John and Nowanna Greer of Conroe, and E.V. and Wanda Lanham of Fritch. Amarillo Judith Troe Judith Troe, 61, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ron Holmes, pastor, officiating. Cremation by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Troe was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1975. She had worked for as a lab technician. She was a lifetime member of Job's Daughter's and Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered as a secretary on occasion. She married Melvin Troe in 1955 at Albert Lee, Minn. Her husband was the 1996 Globe-News Man of the Year. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marianne Bridgewater of Amarillo and Barbara Troe of Euless; a sister, Mary Beth Reed of Spring Hill, Fla.; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 7501 Seville, Dr. #167. The family requests memorials be to Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir. Fredda Shafer Fredda Shafer, 78, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Shafer was born in Antoine, Ark. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1964. She retired from Amarillo College where she worked in the purchasing department. After retirement, she continued to work at Amarillo College. She was active in Presbyterian Auxiliary and a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Hyatt H. Holt of Yountville, Calif; a daughter, Mary Heard of Cuero; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3430 Royal Road. Donald Ray Gillem Donald Ray Gillem, 55, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with San Jacinto Masonic Lodge No. 1330 officiating. Mr. Gillem was born in Childress. He had lived in Amarillo more than 13 years. He was a Navy veteran, retiring after 21 years service. He was a chief boatsmate. He operated a gun shop in Amarillo for several years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Mason in San Jacinto Masonic Lodge No. 1330 and a Scottish Rite Mason. He married Zeta Marie Jenkins in 1968 at Dallas. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Denise Pelfery of Edmond, Okla., and Valerie Seymour and Billie Gillem, both of Amarillo; a son, Russell Seymour of Amarillo; two brothers, Jerry Gillem of Kentucky and Gaylon Gillem of Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Phillips was born in Amarillo. She moved to Canyon three years ago from Amarillo. She worked as a waitress at Teresa's Diner in Canyon. Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Sue Wimberly of Canyon, and Tammy Ann Chennault and Tina Jo Phillips, both of Amarillo; two sons, Timothy Lee Phillips and Tony Wayne Phillips, both of Canyon; her mother, Jo Davis of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends will meet an hour before the service in Quanah First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bailey was born in Groesbeck. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in English from North Texas Teachers College and taught in the Quanah and Lubbock public schools and on a reservation in New Mexico. She was a member of the Mart First Baptist Church. She married Joe Curtis Bailey. He preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include a son, Joe Dan Bailey of Little Rock, Ark.; three sisters, Dorothy Juried of Austin, Eunice Curry of Lufkin and Sue Ellison of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mary Irene Phillips DOZIER - Mary Irene Phillips, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Dozier Cemetery with R.L. Roberts of Shamrock, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Ms. Phillips was born in Bell County. She moved to Dozier in 1917. She lived and worked on the family farm all her life. She was a member of Abra Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Beatrice Phillips and Lenora Phillips, both of Dozier. Rex B. Williams HOUSTON - Rex B. Williams, 76, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Chapel with Loren Harper of Lawndale Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Williams was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1942. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He worked and for Exxon Oil Co., retiring in 1975. He also had farm and investment property in Amarillo. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 731. He married Genevieve Carter in 1959 at Roseburg. Survivors include two brothers, Don Williams of Waco and Ray Williams of Tempe, Ariz.; and a sister, Ruth Wagner of Amarillo. The family requests memorials be to American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
