Porter T.A. Porter, 75, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Dana Moore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Porter served as a cook in the Army in North Africa and Italy and retired from Leeway Motor Freight after 331/2 years. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Porter was born in Saltillo. He married Marie Payne in 1945 in Amarillo. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in August, 1995. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dale Porter. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marleen Glasscock of Amarillo, Debbie Davis of Norman, Okla., and Lanetta Black of Iron River, Wis.; a brother, William J. Porter of Texline; two sisters, Pearl Knotts of Chillicothe and Mattie Marie Mongold of Borger; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 5232 Slope Drive and suggests memorials be to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Pete Cator Pete Cator, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 13, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Billy Thompson and Bill Gallagher officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Old Hansford Cemetery in Hansford County. Mr. Cator was born in a sod house on Palo Duro Creek near Morse. He lived in the Holt community in his youth and worked for Lewis Medlin. Later he lived and worked on the Coble, Sneed and Bivins-Thompson ranches. He also owned the L.N. Ranch and the Atarque Ranch in western New Mexico in addition to his home place at Morse. He married Leone Yell in 1930. He also was involved in the oil and gas business in the Panhandle. For the past 15 years he had lived in Amarillo. Survivors include three daughters, Vian Gallagher of Denver, and Patricia Patterson and Donna Underwood, both of Amarillo; two sons, Pete Cator Jr. and Don Cator, both of Sunray; three brothers, Bert Cator of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Marshall Cator of Sunray and George Cator of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will be at No. 12 Cambridge and will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Gerardo Facio Gerardo "LaLo'' Facio, of 3804 N.E. 18th Ave., died Monday, April 14, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Laurence Cathedral by the Rev. Al Gradillas of the church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Gerardo was born in Amarillo. He was a member of St. Laurence Cathedral. Survivors include his parents, Gustavo and Luz Angelica Facio; two brothers, Ruben Cardenas and Gustavo Facio Jr., both of the home; and a grandmother, Elvira Hurtado of Juarez, Mexico. The family will be at 3804 N.E. 18th Ave. Letha Warren Welborn Letha "Lea'' Warren Welborn, 77, of Amarillo, a former Clarendon resident, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. of Clarendon. Mrs. Welborn was born in Clarendon. She was a resident of New Mexico for more than 45 years before moving to Amarillo in September. She married Norman L. Welborn in 1950 at Arkansas. She was a graduate of Clarendon High School and earned her bachelor of arts and master of education degrees from the University of Arkansas. She taught in the public schools in Roswell, N.M.; Tatum, N.M.; Las Cruces, N.M.; Santa Fe, N.M.; and Albuquerque, N.M., for more than 25 years before retiring. She was a past worthy matron for the Order of the Eastern Star and was the founder of the Blue Slipper Ladies organization. She also was a member of the National Society of Magna Carte Dames, the Americans of Royal Descent, the Colonial Order of the Crown and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was a member of the Timberon Chapel in Timberon, N.M. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Winnie Mandril and Billie Tiller, both of Amarillo, and Ardith Stone of Arlington; and a brother, Weldon Warren of Mesquite. Oklahoma Clive Stocklin White HOOKER, Okla. - Clive Stocklin White, 81, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Garden City, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hooker Church of Christ with Don Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. White was born in Piedmont, Mo. He lived in Greensburg, Kan., with his family and in 1929 moved to Guymon. He attended Bethel School at Guymon. He married Etna Mayfield in 1940 at Hooker. In 1940, he took over running the O. Jolliffe Ranch full time from his father, which he ran for 21 years. He and his wife moved to Ceder Vale, Kan., where they farmed and ranched for 14 years. After retiring in 1976, they moved back to Hooker. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served on the Adams school board for 12 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry White of Boys Ranch, Texas, and Terry White of Huron, S.D.; a daughter, Sondra West White of Hutchinson, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Earl Whitfield KEYES, Okla. - William Earl Whitfield, 72, died Monday, April 14, 1997, in Montrose, Colo. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Willowbar Cemetery with the Rev. Del Watkins officiating. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mr. Whitfield was born west of Keyes. He attended Keyes public school and was active in sports. He drove a school bus and the activity bus. He enjoyed farming and was involved in it for most of his life. He married Nancy Wiggins. He was a member of Keyes United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell. Survivors include a son, Lance Whitfield of Keyes; two sisters, Dorothy Kohler of Boise City and Earlene Crews of Keyes; and three grandsons. Survivors include a daughter, Carole LaRoche of Fort Smith; two sons, Cordell Brown of St. Louis and Martin Brown of Houston; two sisters, Hazel Spotts and Maxine Strickler, both of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1209 N. "B'' Street, Fort Smith, Ark. 72901. Bill Brand MIDLAND - Bill Brand, 63, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Westside Church of Christ with Don Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Brand was born in Sweetwater and grew up in Amarillo. He moved to Midland in 1950 and married Mary Lee McBee that same year. They moved to Victoria in 1981, and he was president of the American Stabilizer Corp. They moved to Tomball in 1983, and he was employed by Dailey Oil Tools. He became semi-retired in 1993 and later began working part time as a security officer at Willowbrook and Memorial Malls in Houston. In 1996, he and his wife returned to Midland. Mr. Brand was a member of Westside Church of Christ and the Acacia Lodge No. 1414. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, the York Rite and the Suez Shrine. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sherry Brookshire, Diana Reynolds and Teresa Lake, all of Midland; three brothers, H.J. O'Pry of Amarillo, Roland Brand of Grand Junction, Colo., and Charles Brand of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters, Quita Faye Brand and Dee Ann Seymour of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Campbell ROARING SPRINGS - Vada B. Campbell, 97, of Searcy, Ark., died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Roaring Springs Church of Christ with Ted Kingery, Church of Christ minister from Silverton, and Pat Phelps, Church of Christ minister from Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Roaring Springs Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Campbell was born in Abbott. She married John K. Campbell in 1929. He died in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy. She was a former longtime resident of Roaring Springs. Survivors include three sons, Eddie R. Campbell of Searcy, John W. Campbell of Gunnison, Colo., and Robert E. Campbell of Lubbock; two stepdaughters, Ruth Simpson of Houston and Ann Vasquez of Big Spring; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Canyon Earl E. Reynolds Earl E. Reynolds, 76, of No. 9 Hospital Drive No. 114 in Canyon, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church at Amarillo with Dr. Bill Beahm and the Rev. Scott Davis, both of Evangelical Fellowship, officiating. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Amarillo by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., in Amarillo. Mr. Reynolds was born in Geneseo, Kan., and graduated from high school at Eldorado, Kan. He married Edna L. "Sally'' Reynolds in 1940 at Wichita, Kan. He was a butcher in Eldorado and began working for the Santa Fe Railway in 1941. He was drafted into the Army in 1942 and fought during World War II. He was a member of the 756 RY shop BN. He was discharged in 1946. He went back to work as a fireman for the Santa Fe Railway. He later was promoted to engineer and worked in Emporia, Kan. In 1960, he was promoted to road foreman of engines and was transferred to Fort Madison, Iowa. He was transferred to Amarillo in 1963 and was promoted to supervisor of air brakes and general road foreman. He retired in 1980. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge No. 12 in Emporia, the Shriners, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Lubbock, the board of directors at Palo Duro Village and the activities committee of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Euginia Hinger of Amarillo and Pamela Day of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a sister, Virginia Unruh of Cassoday, Kan.; three brothers, Richard Reynolds, George Reynolds and Homer Reynolds, all of Wichita; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 615 McAffee. Area Hazel Johnson LOCKNEY - Hazel Johnson, 85, died Monday, April 14, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommie Beck officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery by Moore-RoseWhite Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Hale County. She moved to Lockney from Hale County in 1916. She graduated from Lockney High School and obtained a teaching degree from West Texas State University. She retired as a teacher for the Lockney Independent School District. She was a member of the Lockney Senior Citizens, the El Progresso Study Club, the United Methodist Women, the Singles Club and First United Methodist Church. She married G. Lavon Johnson in 1940 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1979. Survivors include a son, Jerry Johnson of Lockney; two daughters, Judy Jackson of Lockney and Mary Konlande of Arlington; 11 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church or the Lockney Senior Citizens. Madeline Weaver Hyatt CANADIAN - Madeline Weaver Hyatt, 74, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Hiram Reyes officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hyatt was born in Canadian and attended school in Canadian. She married Roy Ernest Hyatt in 1940 at Miami. In the early 1940s, they moved to Aransas Pass from Canadian. Her husband died in 1957. She returned to Canadian in 1958. She was a homemaker and a Baptist church member. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Westbrook of Canadian and Bonnie Kelly of Palacios; a son, Tommy Hyatt of Midland; 12 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Gene Kyle QUANAH - Gene Kyle, 93, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. todayin the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Young officiating. Burial will be in the Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Kyle was born in Bentonville, Ark., and had lived in Quanah for 80 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Nellie Venitta Beard in 1925 at Hollis, Okla. She died in 1979. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbie Gene. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Fisher of Quanah; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters. Muriel Stockstill QUANAH - Muriel Stockstill, 85, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery at Goodlett by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Stockstill was born in Cherryville, Kan. He married Maggie Hunter in 1940 at Childress. He had lived in Hardeman County since 1948, moving from Hollis, Okla. He was a farmer and served on the Farm Bureau Board for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the Goodlett Methodist Church until the church consolidated with First United Methodist Church of Quanah. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Leon Stockstill of Buna, Gerald Stockstill of Clovis, N.M., Dan Stanley Stockstill of Whitehouse and Luke Stockstill of Moore, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. White, 83, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with Dick Tarr of Levelland and the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. White was born in Montague County. He had lived in Muleshoe since 1945, moving from Lubbock. He was the owner of White Cashway Grocery in Muleshoe from 1959 to 1983. He was a member of First Christian Church. He married Marie E. Flatt in 1932 at Wichita Falls. She died in 1971. He married Vivian Stevenson in 1971 at Muleshoe. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clifford White of Odessa and Joe Bob Stevenson of Muleshoe; three daughters, Jerie Nell Flowers of Abernathy, and Anette Gaillard and Rhonda Walls, both of Texhoma, Okla.; two sisters, Bea Rhea of Pearland and Loriane Meyer of Burleson; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
