Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Polycarp Ducthuan of Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Huynh was born in Rachgia, Vietnam. He served four years in the South Vietnam Army and later moved to the United States. He settled in Hartford, Conn., where he attended Hartford Technical Community College and majored in mechanical engineering. He had lived in Amarillo for seven years. Survivors include his mother, Hoa Nguyen of South Vietnam; a brother, Tin Huu Huynh of Hartford; and a sister, Thuong Huynh of Huntington Beach, Calif. The body will not be available for viewing. Earline Beck Wynn Earline Beck Wynn, 76, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Jim Garrett, senior pastor, and the Rev. Bill Wade, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Wynn was born in Clarendon and had been a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor's degree in English. She was a teacher with the Amarillo public schools, having taught at Nixson Junior High School. She also taught public school in Dalhart and Grants, N.M., and on the Apache Reservation in Arizona. After retiring, she tutored on a volunteer basis and was active in the Help One Student To Succeed program with the AISD. Mrs. Wynn was a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and had served as an officer and board member. She also was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Miller of Houston; a son, John Chamberlain of Amarillo; two sisters, Joleta Keeter of Amarillo and Janelle Hutchison of Kailua, Hawaii; a brother, Harry Beck of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Elsewhere Clarence Kenneth Robertson VERNON - Clarence Kenneth Robertson, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, in Wichita Falls. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Clay officiating. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery at Chillicothe. Mr. Robertson was born in Starr. He had lived in Vernon and Chillicothe for many years. He retired from Vernon Oil Mill. He married Luddie Elizabeth Young in 1933 at Milam County. She died in 1980. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Robertson of Dalhart, Charles Robertson of Vernon and Tony Robertson of Alvin; two daughters, Elizabeth Williams and Loretta Upton, both of Vernon; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3026 Bismark in Vernon. Orvil Friday LITTLEFIELD - Orvil "Slim'' Friday, 61, of Liverpool, N.Y., a former resident of Littlefield, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997. Services will be 2 p.m. today in Hammons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herb Tavenner, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Mr. Friday was born in Littlefield. He attended Littlefield schools and Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. He married Candace Geniac in 1982 at Corpus Christi. Mr. Friday farmed in the Hart area and moved to Lubbock, where he was employed by Bush-Hogg Continental. He later was relocated to Corpus Christi. He was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cheryl Friday of Amarillo, and LeAnn Ridens and Darsa Wright, both of Stephenville; a stepson, Lannie Neil Lavender of Lubbock; a stepdaughter, Christi Jan Wooten of Lubbock; a sister, Bobbie Jean Waggoner of Fort Worth; a brother, Darrell Friday of Amherst; and four grandchildren. Area Kami Michelle Minick CANADIAN - Kami Michelle Minick, 17, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, in Pampa. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Canadian High School gymnasium with Rex Boyles, minister, Shawn Davis and Mike Heatwole of Canadian officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Miss Minick was born in Shattuck, Okla., and had lived in Canadian most of her life. She was active in the Canadian High School Band, serving as an officer and first-chair flute player. She had been selected for the All-Region Band. She was a cheerleader in junior high and had been selected to be a cheerleader for the 1997-98 school year. She participated in basketball, track and cross country in her freshman, sophomore and junior years. She also was active in drama presentations and one-act plays. Miss Minick was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her parents, Brad and Karen Minick of Canadian; a brother, B.J. Minick of the home; grandparents, Jim and Pat Minick of Canadian, Richard and Brenda Farquer of Glazier, and Douglas Wayne of San Angelo; and greatgrandparents, Allie and Dollie Mitchell of Canadian, Jewel Lawson of Miami, Texas, Florence Farquer of Waynoka, Okla., and Billie and Cecil Knox of San Angelo. The family suggests memorials be to Hemphill County Hospice or a favorite charity. Elvira Acosta DUMAS - Elvira Acosta, 75, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Templo Elim Asemblea Dios with the Rev. Jose Contreras, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Acosta was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, and had lived in Dumas since 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of Templo Elim Asemblea Dios. Survivors include four daughters, Griselda Cortes and Elsa Acosta, both of Dumas, and Patricia Franco and Veronica Rodriquez, both of El Paso; five sons, Oscar Acosta and Jesus Acosta, both of Juarez, Mexico, Francisco Acosta and Luis Roberto Acosta, both of Amarillo, and Jose Acosta of El Paso; three sisters, Socorro Quintana and Luz Garcia, both of El Paso, and Olaya Barraza of Chihuahua; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 825 N.E. 2nd St. Jack Oakie Seymour McLEAN - Jack Oakie Seymour, 66, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. Graveside services were at 5 p.m. Friday in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. David Drennon of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were by Lamb Funeral Home. Mr. Seymour was born in Amarillo and moved to McLean around 1977. He retired from the city of Amarillo. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; and two brothers, J.W. Seymour of Phoenix and Robert Seymour of Borger. Izaiah Jesus Ramos FRIONA - Izaiah Jesus Ramos, 2week-old son of Monica Rose Ramos, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Friona Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Sweeney officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Izaiah was born in Lubbock. Survivors include his mother; grandmother, Rose Nanez of Friona; and a great-grandmother, Nellie Gonzales of Friona. Charles E. Powell PAMPA - Charles E. "Charlie'' Powell, 97, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Glover, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Powell was born in Bellingham, Wash. He moved to Pampa in 1943 from Seminole, Okla. He married Una Parker in 1929 at Garber, Okla. She died in 1977. Mr. Powell was a plant manager for Cities Service Oil Co. He retired after 411/2 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Everymans Bible Class and the Pampa Rotary Club. Survivors include a nephew, Bill J. Morris of Wichita, Kan; and a niece, Jo Ann Gilpin of Tulsa, Okla. The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church. Sam Barden SPRINGLAKE - Sam Barden, 66, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Springlake Cemetery with Denny Sneed, minister of the Church of Christ of Earth, officiating. Arrangements are by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Barden was born in Altus, Okla. He moved to Springlake in 1944 from Tipton, Okla. He married Virginia McCleskey in 1956 at Clovis, N.M. Mr. Barden served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ of Earth. Survivors include three daughters, Dawn Williams of Muleshoe, Jill Barnard of Wakita, Okla., and Carrie Barden of Littlefield; two sisters, Sue Hollingsworth of Hereford and Arwilda Harrington of Greeley, Colo.; a brother, Dean Barden of Greeley; and two grandsons. Roy Wayne Belk PLAINVIEW - Roy Wayne Belk, 77, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Belk was born in Vernon. He moved with his parents to the Runningwater community and had lived there all of his life. He married Edith Newby in 1978. She died in 1996. Mr. Belk was a carpenter and painter. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of College Heights Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include three sisters, Jewel Chowning of Wahpeton, N.D., Faye Powers of Dimmitt and Frankie Prayor of Lubbock; and a brother, Loyd Belk of Plainview. Adelbert Williams PLAINVIEW - Adelbert Williams, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Neil Unwin, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Williams was born in Alamogordo, N.M. He moved to Plainview at the age of 3. He attended Plainview schools and graduated from Plainview High School. He attended Wayland Baptist University and graduated with an associate's degree in history. Mr. Williams was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include a cousin, Margie Austin of Arlington.
