Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Parkside Chapel with the Rev. Terry Cosby officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mrs. Witherspoon was born in New Mexico Territory. She attended school in Amarillo and received a teaching certificate. She taught school at Vega and Wildorado. She married Glenn Witherspoon in 1930 at Amarillo. They moved to Hereford around 1945 and opened Witherspoon Electric, where she was the office manager and bookkeeper. They ran the business until 1973. Mrs. Witherspoon was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Coffman of Wimberley; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. James Murray Field DALHART - James Murray Field, 60, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Reese, pastor of Shepherd of the Plains Church in Amarillo, and the Rev. Steve McMeans, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dalhart, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Field was born in Lubbock and moved to Dalhart with his parents in 1941. He was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy at Lexington, Mo. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and rancher and served on the board of directors of Dalhart Consumers and the Dallam County Soil Conservation District. Mr. Field worked with the Dallam County Livestock Show for many years and served as superintendent of the BiCounty Livestock Show and Sale. He also worked with the Dalhart Little Dribblers basketball program, serving as a coach and as president of both the girls and boys organizations. He officiated at local games as well as officiating at the National Little Dribblers Tournament in Levelland for many years. Mr. Field married Fern Sheets in 1956 at Dalhart. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jamie Carter and Laurie Forks, both of Dalhart, and Leslie Reeves of Deer Park; a brother, Ell Dee Field of Dalhart; and six grandchildren. Dalsie Monk QUITAQUE - Dalsie Monk, 78, a former resident of Quitaque, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, in McKinney. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Quitaque Church of Christ with Elgin Conner and Raymond White officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Turkey. Mrs. Monk was born in Glen Rose. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Quitaque Church of Christ. She married Lester O. "P-John'' Monk in 1941 at Turkey. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a son, Albert Monk. Survivors include two sons, Dellis Monk of Mesquite and Edward Monk of Austin; a daughter, Bettie Johnson of McKinney; and four grandchildren. Riley D. May TULIA - Riley D. May, 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. There will be no services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. May was born and raised in Coleman and attended school there. He moved to Tulia in 1933 and farmed. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Duffie Thomas in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1974. He married Zeffie Simmons in 1975 at Tulia. She died in in 1990. He married Juanita McKinney in 1991. She died in 1995. Survivors include four stepsons, C.E. Simmons of New Braunfels, Gorden G. Simmons of Graham, W.T. Simmons of Amarillo and Gary L. Simmons of Lubbock; a sister, Lexy Whittington of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and several stepgrandchildren. J.M. Crabb DUMAS - J.M. "Jim'' Crabb, 94, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Graveside services for family and friends will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Dumas Cemetery with Harold Clark, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Crabb was born in Portales, N.M., and had been a Moore County resident since 1926. He established Triangle Oil Co., a Shamrock jobber, in 1930. He remained active with the company until it was sold in 1988. He helped organize the North Plains Broadcasting Co., the Dumas Hotel Committee and First National Bank, where he served as chairman of the board for six years. He also was a Dumas city commissioner from 1953 to 1959. Mr. Crabb married Ineze Lucille Kline in 1928. She died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Crabb of Dumas; a grandson; and a great-grandson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until service time. Harold Haning MOBEETIE - Harold "Peeler'' Haning, 70, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, in Wheeler. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Mobeetie Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Jahnel, pastor of Mobeetie United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Haning was born in Mobeetie. He graduated from Mobeetie High School and then served in the Army. He married Evelyn Robison in 1948 at Amarillo. Mr. Haning lived and worked on the 6666 Ranch from 1960 to 1974. From 1974 to 1988, he was the foreman on the Sanford Ranch at Fritch. He retired in 1988 and returned to Mobeetie to operate his own ranch. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Griffith of Amarillo; a son, Buster Haning of Wheeler; a brother, John Franklin Jr. of Oceanside, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Martin, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Greene was born in Pampa and had been a lifelong Pampa resident. He attended Pampa High School and played football from 1926 to 1928. He married Ruth Brown in 1928 at Kansas. He farmed and ranched north of Pampa. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Everymans Sunday School class and a longtime member of the Sonshine Club. He was a former member of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Hunky Greene and Jim Greene, both of Pampa, and Richard Greene of San Diego; two daughters, Betty Goode of Clovis, N.M., and Nellie Beth McDonough of Happy; 11 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First Baptist Church music department. Raymond Austin Sr. SHALLOWATER - Raymond "Jack'' Austin Sr., 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church at Enochs with the Rev. R.D. Thommarson of Roswell, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Enochs Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mr. Austin was born in Memphis. He had lived in Bailey County since 1934, moving to Lubbock County in May. He married Effie Moore in 1934 at Wheeler. She died in 1990. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcelee Tate. Mr. Austin was a retired farmer and rancher in the Beulah and Enochs communities. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, J.R. Amarillo Julia Alice Miller Julia Alice Miller, 79, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. She had worked as an inspector for Levi Strauss Co. She was a Baptist church member. She married Joe Miller in 1949. They operated Western Fence Co., where she was a bookkeeper. Mr. Miller died in 1993. Survivors include two brothers, Fred Melton of Gallup, N.M., and A.L. Melton of Amarillo; five sisters, Cornia Elder of Colorado Springs, Colo., Juanita Giles and Edna McLeod, both of Amarillo, Dovie Pancipinto of Searchlight, Nev., and Barbara Cook of Bellingham, Wash. Ilse Smith Ilse Smith, 48, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997. No services are scheduled. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Smith was born in Ingolstadt, Germany. She moved to Amarillo seven months ago from Durango, Colo. Howard William Calvert Howard William "Bill'' Calvert, 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Henry officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Calvert was born in Delaware, Okla. He moved to Amarillo in 1947 from Oklahoma. He was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Amarillo street department. He served in the Army and the Navy. She was a charter member of Amarillo Bible Church and a member of the Ladies Gideon Auxiliary. She retired as a bookkeeper for Cunningham Floral Shop. She married Otto Drachenberg in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1996. Survivors include a brother, Joe Martin of Amarillo; and three sisters, Anne Widick of Amarillo, Pearline Roberts of Goodland and Pauline Jacks of Arnett, Okla. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in United Methodist Church of the Resurrection at Leawood, Kan. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mr. Bunch was born in Alva, Okla. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1974. In 1980, he received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Oklahoma Panhandle State University at Goodwell, Okla. He married Lisa Holly in 1980 at Guymon. In 1981, Mr. Bunch began a career in marketing with Phillips Petroleum Co. at Bartlesville, Okla. His current position with the company was Midwest wholesale district manager for the marketing division of Phillips 66 Division based in Kansas City. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Bunch of the home; a daughter, Sarah Bunch of the home; his parents, Arle and Wanda Bunch of Guymon; a sister, Karen Walker of Borger, Texas; and two brothers, Keith Bunch of Lake Charles, La., and Jerry Bunch of Houston, Texas. She was a homemaker and a resident of Big Fork, Mont. She was a Baptist. New Mexico Bud Hodges CLOVIS, N.M. - Bud Hodges, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel of Portales. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mr. Hodges was born in Pawnee County, Okla., and raised in Glencoe, Okla. He moved to Farwell, Texas, in 1936. He married Lola Taylor in 1939 at Roswell. They moved to Texico, where he worked for Roberts Seed Co. In 1942, he joined the Army and served until 1945 in Africa and Italy. In 1946, Mr. Hodges moved his family to Portales, where he managed the Roberts Seed Co. office. Later he bought the company and operated it another 10 years before moving to Clovis around 1970. After moving, he began working at Goden West Seed Co., at Texico, formerly Roberts Seed. He retired in 1981. His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Charles Wayne Hodges of Houston and Stephen Taylor Hodges of Clovis; a brother, Robert Hodges of Fairfax, Okla.; a sister, Nola Vern Ellington of Glencoe; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Alfred Coy Jones CLOVIS, N.M. - Alfred Coy Jones, 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery at Floyd. Mr. Jones was born in Portales. He retired in 1986 after serving 28 years with the New Mexico State Police. He married Lanell Lee in 1958 at Portales. Billy Hines officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Clayton was born in Texas and moved to New Mexico when she was 1 year old. She had been a longtime resident of the Curry and Roosevelt counties areas. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Portales. She married Cecil Clayton in 1922 at Farwell, Texas. He died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Clayton, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Norman A. Clayton of Cherokee Village, Ark.; three daughters, Avice Pulliam and Anita Simmons, both of Springdale, Ark., and Alice "Susie'' Hatley of Clovis; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. William Thomas Donham MELROSE, N.M. - William Thomas "W.T.'' Donham, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, in Albuquerque. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Coy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Donham was born in Pauls Valley, Okla. He lived in Durant, Okla., and West Texas before moving to Curry County when he was a teen-ager. He married Wanda Penner in 1929 at Curry County. They lived their entire married life in Curry County. Mr. Donham was a member of Field Baptist Church until it disbanded. He then attended First Baptist Church at Melrose. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Tommy Donham and Dwane Donham, both of Albuquerque, and Jack Donham of Montclair, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist Children's Home at Portales. Oklahoma Harold Edwin Colgin GUYMON, Okla. - Harold Edwin Colgin, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Shannon Davis, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Colgin was born in Walnut, Kan. He began his career in the grocery business soon after graduating from high school. He moved to Guymon in 1933 and worked at the Blakemore Ideal Food Store, where he was manager for more than 48 years. After retiring from the grocery business in 1978, he founded Ideal Real Estate, which he operated until 1996. Mr. Colgin was the oldest serving member of the Guymon Lions Club, where he served as Boss Lion and was the first honoree of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was instrumental in the development of Sunset Lake and in the restoration of the Lions Park Chimes Tower in Elmhurst Cemetery. He was an active member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. He served on the Dunaway Manor Board and the Pioneer Day Old Timers Committee for many years. He was a member of Guymon Lodge No. 335 AF&AM and Guymon Chapter No. 419 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Colgin married Ina Pauline Laney in 1936 at Hooker. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold E. "Sonny'' Colgin Jr. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rasonya Pruitt of Edmond; a sister, Evelyn Watson of Mimbres, N.M.; and three grandchildren. A Harold Colgin memorial has been established for the Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla. 73942.
