Hannah Donald W. Hannah, 67, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. J. Alan Ford of Southwest Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will be by Memorial Park Crematory. Mr. Hannah was born in Jermyn and had lived in Amarillo for 14 years. He married Ollie M. Goforth in 1950 at Garland. He worked in forensic science for 20 years and spent 81/2 years as the plant chemist at the Helium Plant. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Donna Harnish of Amarillo and Tamatha Hannah of Lubbock; a son, Timothy Hannah of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Kenneth Hannah of Washington D.C.; two sisters, Pauline Vernon of Richardson and Susie Meador of Washington State; and two grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Charlotte Pool Charlotte Pool, 66, of 7712 Christina, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Merrell Gilbert, chaplain for the Amarillo Police Department, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Pool moved to Borger at an early age and had lived in Amarillo for the past 15 years. She married Milton Pool in 1983 at Amarillo. She owned her own business and was a member of the Amarillo Country Club. She was a Catholic. Survivors include her husband and her mother, Vivian Powell of Amarillo. The family will be at 7712 Christina. VaRue Lidia VaRue Lidia, 98, of Fort Worth, a former longtime Amarillo resident, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Daniels officiating. Arrangements are by Shannon North Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Lidia had been a resident of Amarillo since 1927 until four years ago when she moved to Fort Worth. She was the widow of Amarillo businessman and banker Arch D. Lidia. She had memberships at Polk Street United Methodist Church, the Amarillo Club, the Amarillo Country Club, the AAUW, the Amarillo Garden Club and the Friends of the Library. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Spoonts of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren. Beth Dabbs Allen Beth Dabbs Allen, 68, of 4421 Lipscomb, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Lynn Camp of Southwest Church of Christ officiating. George Monroe Autrey George Monroe Autrey, 56, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. The body will not be available for viewing. Isabel Brittain Isabel Brittain, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Ninth Ave. Mrs. Brittain was born in Lyon, Iowa. She was a volunteer and a member of St. Hyacinth's Church. She was preceded in death by her husband. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Straight Christian Church with the Rev. Roy H. Smothermon officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery at Hooker by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mr. Dunn was born in Plainview, Ark. He was raised in Peckham and graduated from Newkirk High School at Newkirk with the class of 1954. He married Kathy Mahoney in 1988 at Liberal, Kan. They moved to Straight from Satanta, Kan., in 1988. He worked with Williams Natural Gas Co. for 30 years and retired as a gathering specialist on March 1. He attended Straight Christian Church and was a member of the Guymon Good Sams Club, the Kansas OldtimeFiddlers Tickers and Singers of Lakin, Kan., and the Eastern New Mexico Bluegrass and Old Tyme Music Association. He was preceded in death by a son, Stan Tenan. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Penny Dunn of Lakin, Patti Hood of Newkirk and Tiffany Bays of Savannah, Ga.; a son, David Tenan of Montezuma, Kan.; a sister, Veva Bowen of Cleveland, Okla.,; a brother, Pete Dunn of Ponca City; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Chihuahua Cemetery at Chihuahua, Mexico. Mrs. Mendoza was born in Chihuahua. She married Jaime Mendoza in March 1996 at Chihuahua. She had been a resident of Muleshoe since November 1996, moving from Chihuahua. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband and several brothers. Janis K. Saunders PAMPA - Janis K. Seals Saunders, 49, of Lebanon, Tenn., a former Pampa resident, died Thursday, April 10, 1997, in Nashville, Tenn. The body was cremated. William Arthur Rankin PAMPA - William Arthur Rankin, 92, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. R.L. Kirk, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Rankin was born in Monticello, Ky. He was a 1926 graduate of Pampa High School. He married Mary Nell Burns in 1932 at Miami. She died in 1992. He worked at Miami State Bank from 1926 to 1933 and for Phillips Petroleum from 1933 to 1936. He moved to Pampa from the Phillips Camp and worked for Fraser Insurance from 1936 to 1948. He was a real estate agent from 1948 until retiring. He was a member of the Miami Masonic Lodge No. 805 and Pampa Chapter No. 98 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Men's Fellowship Class. He was a longtime member of the Pampa Kiwanis Club. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Lawley of Houston; a brother, John Rankin of Pampa; a grandchild; and a greatgrandchild. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church or the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. Leslie Meloy Morgan Sr. PAMPA - Leslie Meloy Morgan Sr., 70, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Mark's CME Church with the Rev. Leslie Lakey, pastor, the Rev. Monroe Woods Jr., pastor of Calvary Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Calif., and the Rev. I.L. Patrick, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Morgan was born in Limestone County at Coolidge. He formerly was married to Vertia Ware in 1945. He later married Ruthiea L. Thomas in 1969 at Pampa. She died in 1987. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1950. He worked for Hall & Pinson Air Conditioning and Upholstery and later worked for Hall Tire Company and Service Station. He also worked for Halliburton, Cabot Corp., and the Pampa ISD. He opened Leslie's Super Service Station in 1973 and had operated it for the past 23 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon at St. Mark's CME Church and chairman of the trustee board and usher board, treasurer of the building fund and a member of the choir. He also was an active member of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. He was a Mason and a member of the Price of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 250 and the NAACP. Survivors include a son, Leslie Morgan Jr. of DeSoto; two daughters, Barbara Conway of Altus, Okla., and Jo Ann Windom of Denver; a stepson, Elbert Hensley Jr. of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Hensley of Fayetteville, Ark.; four sisters, Lucille Livingston of Waco, and Jodie Smith, Marva Horn and Dollye Beckham, all of Dallas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Bea Taylor of Pampa. The family requests memorials be to Hospice of the Panhandle or the American Cancer Society. Alvie Eugene Headrick MEMPHIS - Alvie Eugene Headrick, 84, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Arrangements are by Spicer Funeral Home. Mr. Headrick had been a salesman with the Lighthouse for the Blind. He moved to the Memphis area 25 years ago from Fort Worth. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Tommy James Headrick and Danny Eugene Headrick; a daughter, Elva Gene Headrick; and a sister, Johny Turnbough of Odessa. The body will be available for viewing from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Myrtle Sledge HALE CENTER - Myrtle Sledge, 83, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Hale Center with the Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park at Plainview by Freeman Funeral Home. Mrs. Sledge was born in Weatherford and attended school in Oleda. She moved to Cotton Center in 1929 and graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1934. She married Charlie Henry Sledge in 1934. They moved to Hale Center in 1972 after retiring from farming. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school there. She also was a member of the Hale Center Senior Citizens Association. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Cotton of Phoenix and Scharlene Winningham of Needville; two sisters, Marie Thomas and Mary Frances Weil, both of Hale Center; and six grandchildren. David M. Hummer BOOKER - David M. Hummer, 66, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church of Perryton with the Rev. Roy King officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery at Perryton by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Hummer was born in Ochiltree County and had been a lifetime resident of the Ochiltree County area. He was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M at Stillwater, Okla. He married Mary Lou Smith in 1957 at Perryton. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of First Christian Church of Perryton. Mr. Calaway was born in Benlomand, Ark., and had been a Sunray resident since 1950. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired as a custodian for the Sunray ISD in the early 1970s. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Dumas. He married Thelma Cobb in 1948 at Magnolia, Ark. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Edwin Calaway of Iowa Park, Gerald Calaway of McAlester, Okla., Bob Boring of Sunray and James Calaway of Fort Worth; two brothers, Floyd Calaway of Tyler and Ollice Murray of Idabel, Okla.; four sisters, Esther Cauthen and Lucille Hudgins, both of Dumas, Pearl Crocker of Devers and Mozelle Bates of Idabel; several grandchildren; and numerous greatgrandchildren. She married Clay Reynolds in 1995 at McLean. She was a graduate of the McLean High School class of 1994 and a member of Assembly of God Church. John Glover, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Mrs. Say was born in Sayre, Okla. She was a nurse for 56 years and worked at the Worley Hospital in Pampa and the Elk City Hospital in Elk City, Okla. She had been a resident of Odessa for 17 years, moving from Elk City. She was a member of the Crescent Park Church, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Senior Citizens and the Royal Neighbors of America. She was a charter member of the 50 Dance Club and the Senior Citizens Dance Club. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Wayne Say of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Helen C. Warren and Aline Brown, both of Odessa; and five grandchildren. Blaz Strovas Jr. BORGER - Blaz Strovas Jr., 81, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be in the Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park by Isom Masonic Lodge No. 1242. Mr. Strovas was born in Primero, Colo., and had been a Borger resident since 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 1242, the Borger Commandary No. 96, the Local Union No. 196 and the SNPJ Lodge. He retired as a welder and pipefitter for Bowman Chase and Claude Robinson. He married Cora Castiglia in 1936 at Trinidad, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Strovas of Redmond, Wash., and Denny Strovas of Amarillo; a daughter, Fran Braden of Borger; two brothers, Louis Strovas of Houston and Joe Strovas of Greeley, Colo.; five sisters, Anna Skrzynear of Denver, Josephine Maltese of Lakewood, Colo., Evelyn Schneider Layman of Glendale, Calif., Rose Felice of Arvada, Colo., and Frances Pierce of Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
