Knight Katie L. Knight, 17, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the auditorium of Central Church of Christ with Dick Marcear and Kyle Meador, both of the church, officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Katie was born in Amarillo and had lived here all of her life. She was a junior at Tascosa High School, where she was active in cross country. She was a member of the Huddles group at Central Church of Christ. She also played piano for Debra Wilcox. Survivors include her parents, Harold and Carol Knight of the home; three brothers, Jay Knight of Long Beach, Calif., Jay Carter of Phoenix and Kelly Knight of Lubbock; and a sister, Jeannie Lupton of Amarillo. Elsewhere William Miller LONGVIEW - William "Bill'' Miller, 66, of Lake Cherokee, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born in Fort Bend County. He graduated from East Mountain High School and received a master's degree in industrial engineering from Lamar University. He spent most of his adult life in Longview. He was employed by Marathon LeTourneau in the 1960s. He also was a former high school geometry teacher in Pasadena and a cattle rancher in the 1970s. He had been a self-employed design engineer since 1986. Mr. Miller served in the Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Reesie Simpson Miller; three sons, Greg Miller of Clearlake, Taylor Miller of Tyler and Bill Miller of Kilgore; three daughters, Debbie Miller of Longview, Patrice Fuller of White Oak, and Pam Fish of Sheridan, Wyo.; two brothers, Joe Miller and Herman Miller, both of Longview; and six grandchildren. New Mexico Manuela Pena CLOVIS, N.M. - Manuela "Mela'' Pena, 94, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Rev. Tobin Hitt. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Pena was born in Anton Chico and moved to Clovis in 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. She married Antonio Pena at Corona. Survivors include a daughter, Rita Segovia of Clovis; a son, Manuel Pena of Clovis; three sisters, Gracianita Madril of Duran, Candida Cordova of Vaughn and Marie Sena of Clovis; 19 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and eight greatgreat-grandchildren. Oklahoma David Carl Crabtree BOISE CITY, Okla. - David Carl Crabtree, 41, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with David W. George and J. Robb Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Crabtree was born in Boise City. He attended school at Plainview, Texas, through the sixth grade. His family then moved to Boise City, where he graduated from school in 1974. While in school, he played football and basketball. He also was active in FFA. After high school, he started a ranching and farming program. He began working as a representative for Superior Livestock Video Auction in 1986. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the board of directors for Boise City Farmers Co-op and the board of directors for Cimarron Golf Association. Mr. Crabtree married Coleen Randolph in 1975. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clay Crabtree of Boise City; two daughters, Lori Crabtree and Tami Crabtree, both of Boise City; his parents, W. Roger and Mary Crabtree of Boise City; a brother, Doak Crabtree of Stratford, Texas; and grandparents, R.P. and Carrie Crabtree, and Eldon Brown, all of Boise City. The family requests memorials be to the Cimarron County Golf Association. Area Vernon L. Bryan STINNETT - Vernon L. Bryan, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Stinnett United Methodist Church with the Rev. Landrum Medlock, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Bryan was born in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. He had been a Stinnett resident since 1926. He was a farmer and a member of Stinnett First Christian Church. He served in the Army. He married Rena Harrison in 1951 at Avalon Catalina, Calif. Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly, in 1995. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Bryan of Stinnett; two daughters, Geraldine Bryan of Mesquite and Patricia Bryan of Austin; a brother, Donald B. Bryan of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Elaine White DALHART - Elaine White, 69, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Everett Statler, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. (MST) at Evergreen Cemetery at Santa Rosa, N.M. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. White was born in Las Vegas, N.M., and raised in Santa Rosa. She graduated from high school at Santa Rosa and from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. She married Robert "Bob'' White in 1948 at Santa Rosa. They ranched in the area and were active members of Santa Rosa Methodist Church. She served as assistant organist and choir director at the church for many years. Mrs. White was a member of Chapter No. 44 of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past Mother Adviser and holder of the Grand Cross of Colors with the Santa Rosa Assembly of Rainbow Girls. She was a charter member of the Santa Rosa Garden Club and New Mexico Cowbells. She was a past president and charter member of the Santa Rosa PTA. In 1972, Mrs. White moved to Dalhart. She was involved with First United Presbyterian Church and served as organist. She and her husband served on the XIT Board and were active in many community services in Dalhart. Her husband died in 1985. Survivors include a son, Pat White of Antimony, Utah; and a granddaughter. The body will be available for viewing at Santa Rosa Methodist Church in Santa Rosa from 1:30 to 3 p.m. (MST) Saturday. Beulah Miller EARTH - Beulah Miller, 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller was born in Roger Mills County, Okla. She had lived in Earth since 1932, moving from Mayfield, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene church. She married Arthur Miller in 1922 at Erick, Okla. He died in 1986. Survivors include a son, Harold Miller of Earth; a sister, Marie Bullin of Erick; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Earth Cemetery or the Earth EMS. Raymond Hayes SHAMROCK - Raymond Hayes, 76, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Hayes was born in Gunsight. He moved to Shamrock in 1962 from Miami, Fla. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Jewette Everett in 1945 at Yuma, Ariz. Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond Loyd Hayes Jr. of Odessa; five daughters, Sandra Feil of Perryton, Patricia Overbey of Gruver, Pamela Thacker of Roaring Springs, Barbara Cockerham of Amarillo and Linda Heard of Canyon; a brother, Elmer Hayes of Clayton, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Cecile James PLAINVIEW - Cecile James, 90, of Midland, a former Plainview resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. James was born and raised in Hedley. She moved to Lubbock in 1924 and graduated from Lubbock High School. She married George William James in 1928 at Lubbock. She then moved to Washburn, living there from 1928 to 1932. She moved to Levelland in 1932 and to Plainview in 1953. She lived in Plainview until moving to Midland in 1992. Mrs. James was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland. She taught Bible classes and worked as a seamstress for many years. Mr. James died in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lea Dellis of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Annie Sue Cox of Panama City, Fla.; a son, George E. James of Big Lake; two brothers, Jaynes Cloninger of Lubbock and Sidney Cloninger of Farmers Branch; four sisters, Alice Tusha of Lubbock, Willie B. Gentry and Iris Melcher, both of Slaton, and Mary Francis Walther of San Antonio; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Kelley Don Green EARTH - Kelley Don Green, 36, of Sunnyside, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Broyles officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery by ParsonsEllis Funeral Home. Mr. Green was born in Littlefield. He had lived in the Sunnyside area for 28 years, moving from Mannford, Okla. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Dara Loudder in 1989 at Sunnyside. Survivors include his wife; a son, Will Green of Sunnyside; two daughters, Brandi Fennell and Melissa Green, both of Sunnyside; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Green of Earth; a brother, Steve Green of Mannford; and a grandmother, Clota Belle Kelley of Earth.
