Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leslie Lakey, pastor, the Rev. Monroe Woods Jr., pastor of Calvary Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Calif., and the Rev. I.L. Patrick, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Morgan was born at Coolidge in Limestone County. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1950. He worked for Hall & Pinson Air Conditioning and Upholstery and later worked for Hall Tire Co. and Service Station. He also worked for Halliburton, Cabot Corp., and the Pampa Independent School District. He opened Leslie's Super Service Station in 1973 and had operated it for the past 23 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon at St. Mark's CME Church and chairman of the trustee board and usher board, treasurer of the building fund and a member of the choir. He also was an active member of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. He was a Mason and a member of the Pride of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 250 and the NAACP. He married Vertia Ware in 1945. He married Ruthiea L. Thomas in 1969 at Pampa. She died in 1987. Survivors include a son, Leslie Morgan Jr. of DeSoto; two daughters, Barbara Conway of Altus, Okla., and Jo Ann Windom of Denver; a stepson, Elbert Hensley Jr. of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Hensley of Fayetteville, Ark.; four sisters, Lucille Livingston of Waco, and Jodie Smith, Marva Horn and Dollye Beckham, all of Dallas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Bea Taylor of Pampa. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Panhandle or the American Cancer Society. Blaz Strovas Jr. BORGER - Blaz Strovas Jr., 81, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be in the Garden of Beatitudes at Westlawn Memorial Park by Isom Masonic Lodge 1242. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Strovas was born in Primero, Colo., and had been a Borger resident since 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge No. 1242, the Borger Commandary No. 96, the Local Union No. 196 and the SNPJ Lodge. He retired as a welder and pipefitter for Bowman Chase and Claude Robinson. He married Cora Castiglia in 1936 at Trinidad, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Strovas of Redmond, Wash., and Denny Strovas of Amarillo; a daughter, Fran Braden of Borger; two brothers, Louis Strovas of Houston and Joe Strovas of Greeley, Colo.; five sisters, Anna Skrzynear of Denver, Josephine Maltese of Lakewood, Colo., Evelyn Schneider Layman of Glendale, Calif., Rose Felice of Arvada, Colo., and Frances Pierce of Louisiana; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Russell Moore CHILDRESS - Russell Moore, 74, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Robertson of the church and Barnie Thompson of Sulphur Springs officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Moore was born in Lima, N.Y. He married Ozene Claiborne in 1943 at Altus, Okla. He worked for the Texas Highway Department in the sign shop for 32 years. He was a member of the Childress Fire Department. He was a charter member of Troop 61 of First United Methodist Church, and as a youth he was a member of the Bonehead Troop. He was an archaeologist. He was a corporal, 2nd Division, in the Marines. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific for 21/2 years. Survivors include his wife; and two sisters, Marie Wilson of Santa Clara, Calif., and Ruby Eaves of Amarillo. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Doyle Moore FLOYDADA - Doyle Moore, 76, died Thursday, April 17, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Howell Farnsworth and the Rev. Bobby Broyles, pastor of First Baptist Church of Earth, officiating. Arrangements are Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mr. Moore was born in Owensville, Ark. He graduated from high school at Crosbyton in 1938. He married Sue Jordan in 1940 at Crosbyton. They moved to Floyd County in 1951 from Crosby County. Mr. Moore was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Floydada. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a past president of the Floydada Country Club and the Floyd County Co-op Gin. He also was a director of the Veterans Land Board. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vernie Moore of Earth and Randall Moore of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn Moore of Lubbock; a brother, Reed L. Moore of Ralls; a sister, Bonnie Lee Flemins of Crosbyton; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hospice of Lubbock, 4314 S. Mrs. Young was born in Hall County and had been a Borger resident for 50 years. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1933. She was a retired Realtor and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Carl Young in 1937 at Chickasha, Okla. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Karla Bybee of Borger and Deanya Britten of Yukon, Okla.; a brother, Alton Mitchell of Wharton; two sisters, Maxine Cearley of Rosenburg and Bobbe Brothers of Sulphur, Okla.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Waunell Stockman CLAUDE - Waunell Stockman, 85, died Thursday, April 17, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Claude Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Stockman was born in Hubbard. She married J.W. Stockman in 1939 at Hubbard. He died in 1994. She owned and operated Dub's Texaco at Claude. She was a homemaker and an active member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, R.L. "Dink'' Medlin of Corsicana. Domingo Quiroz OLTON - Domingo Quiroz, 70, died Monday, April 14, 1997. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Catholic Church by the Rev. Martin Pena, pastor. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Quiroz was born in Corsicana. He lived in Slaton before moving to Olton in 1957. He was a retired carpenter and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother, Jacob Quiroz of Kingsburg, Calif. The body will be available for viewing at the church until service time. Gertrude Rowell DUMAS - Gertrude Rowell, 103, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Allen Kramer of 6th and Meredith Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. Rowell was born in Indian Territory and had been a Dumas resident since 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Roswell, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Rowell, in 1972; and a daughter, Louise Harrell, in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Joe Rowell of Vernal, Utah, and Darrell Rowell of Dumas; three daughters, Evelyn Baudine and Fern Churchman, both of Dumas, and Jimmie Rowden of Plainview; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. New Mexico Jody Johnson CLOVIS, N.M. - Jody Johnson, 63, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas P. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Clayton. She married R.E. "Bob'' Johnson. She received a bachelor's degree in 1955 from Eastern New Mexico University, where she was one of the first females to earn an athletic letter for her participation on the rodeo team. She was named rodeo queen in 1955. She was the first woman president of the Clovis Board of Realtors in 1978, the first woman president of the Clovis/Curry County Chamber in 1986 and the first woman to serve on the chamber's Committee of Fifty. She was named New Mexico Realtor of the Year in 1987. She was Clovis/Curry County Chamber's 1996 Citizen of the Year. At the time of her death, she was in her second six-year term as a member of the Eastern New Mexico University board of regents. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tana Williams of Clovis; a son, Brett Johnson of Clovis; two brothers, Jim Duncan of Santa Fe and Jack Duncan of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Susie Funk of Felt, Okla.; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Jody Johnson Memorial Scholarship at ENMU Eastern Foundation at Portales or the Clovis Christian School. James Crawford Brown CLOVIS, N.M. - James Crawford Brown, 94, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Brown was born in Salt Lake City and moved to Clovis in 1959. He married Nancy Jo Heflin in 1975 at Clovis. He was a civil engineer for the Santa Fe Railway for 60 years. He was a member of Central Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He also was a Shriner and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court No. 24, the Elks Lodge and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Finch of Ruidoso; and a grandson. The family requests memorials be to the Clovis Shrine Club. Esta Fitzner LOGAN, N.M. - Esta Fitzner, 82, of Tucumcari, a former Logan resident, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Logan United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mrs. Fitzner was born in Obar and had made her home in the Logan and Obar area for most of her life. She graduated from school at Nara Visa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Logan United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Logan Extension Club. She had been employed by the ASCS Office in Tucumcari for 18 years. She and her husband moved to Tucumcari in October 1996. Survivors include her husband, Clarence B. Fitzner of Tucumcari; two sons, Dr. C. Bernard Fitzner of Tucumcari and Dr. G. Allen Fitzner of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Vic Haney of Dalhart, Texas, and Doris Farley of San Jose, Calif.; two grandsons; and a great-grandson. The family requests memorials be to the Logan United Methodist Church Building Fund. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home from noon today until service time Saturday. Lillie Mae Wiggins CLAYTON, N.M. - Lillie Mae Wiggins, 92, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clayton Church of Christ with Doug Austin, minister, and Tom Bailey, minister of the Central Church of Christ in Hereford, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in the Kenton Cemetery at Kenton, Okla., by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wiggins was born in Kenton. She married Charles Thomas Wiggins in 1927 at Springfield, Colo. He died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter. She was a homemaker and taught school in Kenton and Colorado for a number of years. She lived in the Kenton area until 1954 when she moved to Minnesota. In 1957 she made her home in Clayton. She was a member of the Clayton Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, Charles Robert Wiggins of Bemidji, Minn.; three daughters, Gladys Williams and Addeen Faubus, both of Clayton, and Maxine Bellomy of Ardmore, Okla.; two brothers, John Davidson of Amarillo and Carl Davidson of Clayton; a sister, Ruth Stevenson of Poteau, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat-grandchildren.
