Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church at Lefors with the Rev. Lewis Ellis, pastor, and Mike Sublett, minister of Hi-Land Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Alanreed Cemetery at Alanreed by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Fulton was born in Alanreed. He attended school in Lefors and moved to Odessa in 1966. He moved to Rankin in 1974 and to Pampa in 1993. He had worked for Phillips Petroleum as a truck driver for the past 31 years. He was a Baptist. Mr. Fulton married Lavern Steele in 1959 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Ray Fulton Jr. of Midland, Kenneth Fulton of Rankin and Randy Fulton of Odessa; parents, Euil and Lois Fulton of Alanreed; two brothers, Donald Gene Fulton of Clarendon and Billy Joe Fulton of Lefors; two sisters, Pat Curtis of Sunray and Lois Vivian Turner of Lowell, Ark.; and seven grandchildren. Henry C. Newman FRITCH - Henry C. Newman, 82, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church at Borger with the Rev. Fred Kelm, pastor, officiating. Cremation was by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, in Amarillo. Mr. Newman was born in Teague. He moved to Amarillo in 1973 from Denver. He was a retired conductor for Southern Pacific Railroad, where he had worked for 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He married Leona Christiansen in 1969 at Commerce City, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Arlen Juels of Westminster, Colo., and Todd Juels of Amarillo; four stepdaughters, Diane Shannon of San Antonio and Karen Jiron, Glenda Hoagland and Rhonda Fabrizio, all of Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Herman Benavidez HEREFORD - Herman Benavidez, 72, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in La Iglesia de San Jose with the Rev. Domingo Castillo of the church and Jesse Guerrero, deacon, officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Benavidez was born in Asherton. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1959 from Asherton. He married Maria Enriquez in 1946 at Asherton. He served in the European Theater in World War II. He reached the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a machinist for Big T. Pump Co. He was a school crossing guard for the Hereford Police Department at the time of his death. Mr. Benavidez was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Herman Benavidez of Weatherford and Richard Benavidez of Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Lillie Flores and Orlia Benavidez, both of Hereford, Delma Martinez of Corpus Christi and Sylvia Benavidez of Amarillo; his mother, Otilia Fraga of Carrizo Springs; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Della Mae Gasaway SKELLYTOWN - Della Mae Gasaway, 94, a former resident of Skellytown, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, in Lubbock. She was a resident of Skellytown for 52 years before moving to Lubbock in May. She married Horace P. Gasaway in Lawton, Okla. He died in 1961. She also was preceded in death by a son, Homer L. Bradshaw Sr. in 1936 at Waldron, Ark. He died in 1986. Mr. Wright was born in Jonesville, Ind., and had been a Fritch-area resident since 1948. He was the former owner of Bob's Grocery. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Columbus, Ind. He was a member of the Fritch Church of Christ. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Wright, in 1992. Survivors include a nephew, C. Richard Wright of Indianapolis. Meta E. Stork NAZARETH - Meta E. Stork, 100, a former Nazareth resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997. A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the CCD Building. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Jerry Stein, the Rev. John Hickey, Monsignor Harold Waldow, the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez and the Rev. Guillermo Morales. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mrs. Stork was born in Benton, Wis. She moved to Nazareth from the Jumbo community, northeast of Dimmitt, in 1959. She lived in Tulia from 1992 to 1996. She graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1913 and attended West Texas State Normal School in Canyon. She taught at the Progressive School north of Hereford for one year. She taught at Nazareth until 1919. Mrs. Stork was a member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters and was an honorary member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She married John C. Stork in 1919 at Nazareth. He died in 1975. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Clifford Stork in 1954 and Eugene Stork in 1930; and a daughter, Mary Stork, in 1933. Mrs. McCaslin was born in Guthrie, Okla. She taught school in Santa Rosa, N.M., and Tucumcari, N.M. She then moved to Amarillo and was a legal secretary during the 1930s. She married Carl G. McCaslin in 1938 at Amarillo. In 1939, they started Carl McCaslin Lumber Co. They moved to Hereford in 1941, where they had lived for the past 56 years. Mrs. McCaslin was a homemaker. Mr. McCaslin died in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Carl G. McCaslin Jr. and J.D. McCaslin, both of Dallas; and five grandchildren. She married John Orville Meason in 1934 at Matador. He died in 1985. He married Cloie Woodruff in 1938 at Silverton. Mr. Hamilton was a a retired farmer and a past member of the Quitaque School Board, the Quitaque Volunteer Fire Department and the Gin Board. He was a member of the Quitaque Lions Club and the Church of Christ. He was a former Boy Scout master. Mr. Henderson was born in Dallas and had lived in Clovis for the past six years. He retired from the Air Force in 1985. Mary Frank Fitzgerald GREELEY, Colo. - Mary Frank Fitzgerald, 85, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Stoddard Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in the family cemetery at Brad, Texas. Mrs. Fitzgerald was born in Eliasville, Texas. She lived in Texas until two years ago, when she moved to Greeley. She married Glenn Clark Fitzgerald in 1937 at Chickasha, Okla. Mr. Fitzgerald taught in the Texas school system most of her life. She received two degrees from West Texas State College and one from Texas Woman's College. While in Texas, she was active in various professional organizations as well as having been a member of First Baptist Church since she was a child. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and a son, Robert M. Fitzgerald, in January. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Curnutt of Elizabeth, Ark., and Jamie Felker of Greeley; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sorrel was born in Hollis, Okla. She had lived in Denver City since 1949. She owned and operated Drive Inn Cleaners until 1975. She married George Sorrel in 1960 at Denver City. Mrs. Sorrel was preceded in death by a son, Junior Lee Hix, in 1994. Georgia St. Mr. Jackson was born in El Paso and was a former resident of Phoenix. He moved to Amarillo from Stratford. He was a salesman. Dr. Ross P. Black Dr. Ross P. Black, 95, of Del Rio, retired Navy medical corps captain, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Murray Gossett of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, in Amarillo. Dr. Black was born in Corsicana. He completed undergraduate instruction at Texas Christian University at Fort Worth and completed his medical training at the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1928. He practiced urology in Amarillo until 1943, when he entered the Navy. He served as head of the urology department at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. He also served as head of the urology department at Philadelphia Naval Hospital, spending three tours there, four years of which were as department head. Dr. Black served in Corpus Christi, Panama and Long Beach and aboard the hospital ship Consolation during the Korean War. He completed a year of postgraduate work in urology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1949. He was a member of the American Board of Urology, Central Church of Christ of Del Rio and the Lions Club. He also was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Khiva Shrine of Amarillo. Dr. Black married Cecile Dawson in 1942 at Mineral Wells. She died in 1993. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Sally Vandale, Margaret Herring, Monty Johnson and Allen Dawson Jr., all of Amarillo. He attended Happy Union Grade School and graduated from Plainview High School and Texas Tech University. He farmed in Friona, Plainview, Two Buttes, Colo., and Big Bow, Kan. He lived in Muskogee, Okla., from 1972 to 1985. Mr. Holcomb was a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Burks Holcomb; three daughters, Elaine White and Peggy Williams, both of Amarillo, and Phyllis Bryan of Happy; a stepdaughter, Judith Bural of Muskogee; two stepsons, Jerry Bryant of Houston and Alan Lyons of Amarillo; five grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176-0001. The body will not be available for viewing. Roberto Jaime Ortiz Roberto Jaime Ortiz, 45, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997. There will be no services. Burial will be in Jardines de San Jose in Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Ortiz was born in Chihuahua. He lived in Friona for many years before moving to Santa Fe in 1994. He moved to Amarillo in 1995. He worked at IBP inc. He was a Catholic. Survivors include a daughter, Maria Horta of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sons, Roberto Ortiz Jr. and Jimmy Ortiz, both of Santa Fe; parents, Raymundo and Josephina Ortiz of Chihuahua; and a grandson. Wanda Claudine Snowden Wanda Claudine Snowden, 73, of 2925 N. Hill St., died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Rick D. Mathis, minister of West Amarillo Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Snowden was born in Washburn. She moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Hereford. She married Ben Snowden in 1962 at Canyon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Hereford. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Marviline Rivera of Albuquerque, N.M., Frankie Jimerson and Nancy Craig, both of Mount Pleasant, Sue Patterson of Ashdown, Ark., and Nanette Snowden of Amarillo; a brother, Melton Newman of Fayetteville, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will be at 2925 N. Hill St. Wilma Maxwell Wilma Maxwell, 101, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Larry Gilbert officiating. Cremation is by Memorial Park Crematory. Mrs. Maxwell was born in Westphalia, Kan. She moved to Amarillo in 1980 from Albuquerque, N.M. She was a homemaker. She married Seth A. Maxwell in 1914 at Burlington, Kan. He died in 1952. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Seth A. Maxwell Jr. in 1946 and Joe C. Maxwell in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Opal Gerken of Amarillo; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. The family will be at 5021 Westway Trail.
