Whitmire Jr. QUANAH - William E. Whitmire Jr., 76, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. Harold Moore officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Whitmire was born in Ponotoc, Okla. He moved to Quanah in 1946, from Ponotoc. He was retired from the Georgia Pacific Plant in Acme. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Addie Pauline Bentley in 1947 at Quanah. She died in 1990. He then married Imogene Myers in 1991 at Fayetteville, Ark. Survivors include his wife; a son, Billy Whitmire of Lamar, Colo.; three daughters, Joy Cortinas of Eagan, Minn., Tootie Callaway of Quanah, and Denna "Tiny'' Sims of Amarillo; a stepson, Billy Myers of Concord, Okla.; two brothers, Arlis Whitmire of Quanah, and Hughie Whitmire of Douglas, Ga.; four sisters, Marie Sharber of Whitesboro, Geneva Wakefield of Gravette, Ark., Imogene "Jean'' Burrows of Shafter, Calif., and Loreese Wiseman of Russellville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quanah Meals on Wheels. Eduardo Perez PADUCAH - Eduardo Perez, 93, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. Rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. today in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with the Rev. John Ohlig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Perez was born in Guanajuato, Leon, Mexico. He had been a resident of the Paducah area since 1956, moving from San Antonio. He was a retired farmer and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He married Maria De La Luz Ruiz. She died in 1990. Survivors include seven sons, Joe Garcia of Las Cruces, N.M., Lupe Perez of Santa Anna, Calif., David Garcia of Paducah, Richard Garza and Santos Perez, both of Plainview, Jessie Garza of San Antonio, and Rudy Perez of Scottsbluff, Neb.; four daughters, Janie Vargas of West Fargo, N.D., Lucy Garcia of Gering, Neb., Adella Cardoso and Victoria Canales, both of Paducah; a brother, Lee Perez of San Antonio; a sister, Isabel Garcia of Paducah; 48 grandchildren; and 70 great-grandchildren. Ellen Marie Wasson CHILDRESS - Ellen Marie Wasson, 78, died Sunday, May 18, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central Christian Church with the Rev. Tommy Sims, Baptist minister of Childress, officiating. Burial will be at Childress Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Wasson was born in Harmon County, Okla. She had lived in Childress since 1941. She was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated the former Newberry Funeral Home in Childress from 1971 until 1982. She was a member of Central Christian Church. She married Delbert Wasson in 1938 at Olton. He died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Malone of Waco; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters. Amarillo Charles Clark Charles "Cotton'' Clark, 71, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 18, 1997. Services will be Wednesday morning in Alamance. Burial will be at Alamance Cemetery in Alamance. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Clark was born in Linden. He had lived in the Amarillo area for the past 36 years. He was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Clark, in 1994. Survivors include five sons, Sammy Lee Clark of Wildorado, Donnie A. Rhyne of Hereford, Bill Green, Pete Green and James Edward Rhyne, all of Linden; a daughter, Brenda Kelly of Springhill, La.; a brother, Paul Clark of Pasadena; 13 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Betty L. Trogden Betty L. Trogden, 53, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park East Mausoleum with the Rev. Sherman Eastland officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Trogden was born in Dalhart. She was an L.V.N. at Northwest Texas Hospital for 16 years. She married Ray Trogden in 1963. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ricky Dale Trogden, Sammy Ray Trogden and Kelly Joe Trogden, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Robert Nemoede, Richard Nemoede and Ronnie Nemoede, all of Amarillo; a sister, Nancy Profitt of Amarillo; her father, Vernon Nemoede of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. John Austin John Austin, 78, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Tascosa Country Club Ballroom with G.A. Roach, director of pastoral care of Northwest Texas Healthcare System, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Austin was born in Burneyville, Okla. He moved to Texas when he was 6 years old. He was a Pampa resident and graduated from Pampa High School, where he was the captain of the golf team. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was head pro at Pampa Country Club from 1948 until 1954, and head pro at Tascosa Country Club from 1954 until 1982. He worked as a consultant and a teaching pro until 1983 and taught golf until his retirement in 1992. He was named outstanding Golf Professional in 1973, for the North Section of the Texas PGA. He was lifetime member of the Texas PGA and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Marjorie Coker in 1939 at Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, April Hudson of Pampa, and Lynda Bailey of Amarillo; three sisters, Mary Lou Ray of Pampa, Shirley Austin of Amarillo, and Margaret Lindsey of Krum; a brother, Charles Austin of California; and four grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at Tascosa Country Club. The family will be at 4501 W. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army 40th Engineers. He was self-employed. He was a Baptist. He married Launa Yarbrough in 1945 at Amarillo. He had retired from Southwestern Public Service Co., where he bought right-of-way. He served at Wake Island during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. He married Verna Perrin in 1968 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald Coleman Curlee of White Oak; a daughter, Sherlene Frazier of San Antonio; two stepsons, Ray Dean Stewart of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Wayne Morris of Amarillo; four stepdaughters, Diana Martin of Austin, Lana Miller of Templeton, Calif., Carmelita Smith and Brenda Daniels, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Ralph Curlee of Garden Grove, Calif., and Sisco Ruth of Hampton, Va.; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Gustine. Mr. Couch was born in Gustine. He had lived in Gustine for the past 26 years, moving from Odessa. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired jeweler. He had been employed by Zales Jewelry Stores for 17 years, managing stores in Farmington, N.M., Amarillo, Orange and Odessa. He was a member of the Gustine United Methodist Church. He married Billie Barnes in 1950 at Sequin. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Quatia D. Wright of Odessa, and Debra M. Noel of Rogers, Ark.; a son, Curtis W. Couch of Odessa; two brothers, T.J. Couch and Ernest W. Couch, both of Gustine; a sister, Ione Denson of San Antonio; and four grandchildren. Lunch for the family will be at noon today in the Gustine United Methodist Church. Bob L. Shavor LUBBOCK - Bob L. Shavor, 53, died Sunday, May 18, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Crosby, pastor of First Baptist Church in Paducah, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home in Paducah. Mr. Shavor was born in Paducah. He graduated from Paducah High School in 1962. He attended Odessa College. He had worked for Allstate Insurance. He formed Delwintex Corporation in 1970. He had also been employed by Arco. He had lived in Dallas and Beeville prior to returning to Lubbock. He was a Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the American Businessmen's Club in Lubbock. Survivors include a son, Scott Shavor of Wyoming; a daughter, Kristen Shavor of Beeville; his mother, Eloye Shavor of Paducah; two brothers, John Shavor of Paducah, and Harve Shavor of Lubbock. The family will receive friends between 7 and 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
