Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Douglas Skinner, senior minister at First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Doherty was born in Oklahoma and lived in Amarillo since 1927. She had been a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include a brother, John Doherty of Amarillo. Norman Maurice Perkins Norman Maurice Perkins, 66, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Gianoutsos, pastor of Amarillo Bible Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Perkins was born and raised in Phillips and had lived in Amarillo since 1950. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1949 and had attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of Amarillo Bible Church. He had owned and operated an investment business. Survivors include a sister, Marlene Ann Smedley of Port Ludlow, Wash. The family requests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas, 79174-0001. Gladys Bledsoe Dean Gladys Bledsoe Dean, 86, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Dana Moore, of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery's Pioneer Circle. Mrs. Dean was born in Wayside and moved to Amarillo in 1926. She graduated from the Potter County Rural School System in 1927, which is now River Road ISD. She married James Monroe Bledsoe in 1930 at Amarillo; he died in 1953. She had been a cafeteria baker for Amarillo ISD and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She married Elton Dean in 1956 at Clayton, N.M.; he died in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Hugh Bledsoe and Rex Bledsoe, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Peggy Taylor of Washburn and Delores Thurston of Fritch; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Rhea Cemetery at the Rhea community with Edward Greenthaner, pastor of St. John's Lutheran at Lariat, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Schueler was born in the Rhea Community, Parmer County. He married Oretta Jarrell in 1951 at Clovis, N.M. He was a member of Redemmer Lutheran Church of Friona. He had lived in Spring for two years, moving from Bovina. He is a retired farmer and a member of the VFW Lodge. He had served in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clint Schueler of Spring; two daughters, Terri Outland of Abilene and Carol McIntosh of Friona; three brothers, Floyd Schueler of Friona, Arnold Schueler of Richardson and Robert Schueler of Lubbock; a sister, Irene Graham of Pierceton, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Kathryn Benefield PLAINVIEW - Kathryn Benefield, 83, formerly of Plainview, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. R.L. Kirk, of Pampa, and Dr. Max Browning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Benefield was born in Erath County and moved to Plainview in 1932. She married James Fred Benefield in 1934 at Plainview; he died in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She moved to Lubbock in 1993. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda Rene Benefield, in 1970. Survivors include two sons, Koy Benefield of Lubbock and Tim Benefield of Austin; a daughter, Janet Mercer of Lubbock; two brothers, Bill McAnally of Yucaipa, Calif., and Jack McAnally of Plainview; five sisters, Inez Hancock of San Diego, Cleo Russell of Vallejo, Calif., Luthene Landtroop of Plainview, Emily Morris of Tulia and Pauline McBrearty of Sun Valley, Nev.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two greatgrandsons. The family will be at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today and requests memorials be to Wesley Bible Class at First United Methodist Church. Area Wade T. Bradford CHILDRESS - Wade T. Bradford, 84, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Parkview Baptist Church with Don McFarland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Bradford was born in Mena, Ark. He married Fern Kennemer in 1939 at McAllen. He had been a water well driller for Bradford Drilling Co. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, DeWayne Bradford, in 1993, and a daughter, Sandra Sue Bradford, in 1949. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Bradford of Liberal, Kan., and David Bradford of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Donna Russell of Amarillo and Jenny Bradford of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Martha H. Young MULESHOE - Martha H. Young, 66, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stacy Conner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Young was born in Blanket and had lived in Muleshoe since 1956, moving from Calvert. She had worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a clerk for 21 years. Survivors include two daughters, Prisca Gilbert of Brazoria and Pam Atwood of Muleshoe; a brother, Tommy G. Hall of Utica, N.Y.; a sister, Frances "Toots" Hill of San Antonio; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to American Lung Association or First Baptist Church. W.C. Rippy MEMPHIS - W.C. Rippy, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carey Cemetery at Carey with the Rev. Bob Reid officiating and the Rev. O.K. Bowen assisting. Arrangements are by Spicer Funeral Home. Mr. Rippy was born in Quanah. He married Sue Rippy in 1951 at Childress. He was a Ford service manager with Ford Lincoln Mercury at Longview. He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1949 until 1953. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rocky Rippy of Azle; a daughter, Keli Murdock of Memphis; a brother, O.D. Rippy of Waxahachie; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Jessie Lee Thomas PLAINVIEW - Jessie Lee Thomas, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. L.V. Youngblood, of Church of God at Kilgore, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mrs. Thomas was born in Wynnewood, Okla., and moved to Quitaque in 1928 and then to Plainview in 1936. She married W.C. Thomas in 1936 at Plainview; he died in 1986. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God. Survivors include a sister, Dalsie Brown of Marble Falls. Calvin E. Brow PLAINVIEW - Calvin E. Brow, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shane Brue, pastor, and the Rev. Jesse Hodge, pastor of First United Methodist Church at Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Brow was born in Mangum, Okla., and was raised and attended school at Mangum and Duke, Okla. He moved to Plainview in 1934 and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935 until 1937. He then worked for National Oil and Butane until 1941, when he joined the Army. He served in Europe and was involved in the Normandy invasion. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Plainview, where he worked for National Oil and Butane. He joined Neal Williams Oil and Butane, working from 1958 until retiring in 1978. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had served on the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board. He married Bobbie Smith in 1948 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pamela Miller and Kay Camp, both of Plainview; a son, Steve Brow of Midland; a brother, Carroll Brow of Lansing, Mich.; a sister, Vivian George of Olton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Katherine Inez Wade Walraven SHAMROCK - Katherine Inez Wade Walraven, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, retired pastor of Lubbock, and the Rev. Don Conner, retired pastor of Shamrock, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Walraven was born in Rio Vista and had lived in Shamrock since 1930. She married Ivan Walraven in 1928 at Johnson County. She had worked for JC Penney, Drapers Jewelry and Puckett's Grocery. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class at Friendship. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bluebonnet Home Demonstration Club and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Doris Haynes of Possum Kingdom, Patricia Johnson of Amarillo and Helen Zook of Garland; a sister, Della Mae Easdon of Cleburne; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
