Osage St. Mr. Knowles was born in Wellington and had been an Amarillo resident most of his life. He married Sharon Kangas in 1968 at Six Gun City. Mr. Knowles was a trimmer for High Plains Canvas. He also was a photographer. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ali Knowles of the home; a son, Jeremy Knowles of the home; and a sister, Patricia Knowles Bridley of Dublin, Calif. Congetta Jean Fidler Congetta Jean Ward Fidler, 69, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. D.M. Newton officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery North Mausoleum. Mrs. Fidler was born in Copan, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Borger. She married F.L. Fidler in 1983 at Amarillo. She was an apartment manager before retiring. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Nick Klause of Blanchard, Okla., Red Klause of Amarillo and Randy Klause of San Antonio; three brothers, Jerry Ward, Glen Ward and George Ward; five sisters, Mary Lou Dean, Fay Thomas, Pat Hill, Sherrin Hayden and Margaret Ward; and six grandchildren. William John Rinehart William John Rinehart, 34, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Private graveside services for the family will be in Llano Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Central Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bob Brown, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Rinehart was born in Lubbock and had lived in Amarillo most of his life. He worked as a painter for Jack C. Thomas & Son Inc. He married Mary Olivo in 1983 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terra Michelle Rinehart of the home; two sons, John Eric Rinehart and Justin Ray Rinehart, both of the home; his father, Lonnie Rinehart of Borger; his mother, Lavoyce Alvey of Amarillo; two brothers, Mike Rinehart and Randy Rinehart, both of Amarillo; and a sister, Ramona Rinehart of Amarillo. The family will be at 311 W. Bonita Ave. New Mexico William F. Wiebold CLOVIS, N.M. - William F. Wiebold, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tobin Hitt officiating. Honors will be by the Lubbock Fire Department Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Wiebold was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He married Dolores Mulcahy in 1949 at Queens, N.Y. They moved to Clovis in 1984. He retired as a captain for the New York City fire officers after serving for 35 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3280, American Legion Post No. 25 and Elks Lodge No. 1244. He also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mr. Wiebold was preceded in death by a son, William Wiebold, in 1970. Survivors include his wife; a son, Harry Zalewski of Clovis; a sister, Lillian Bronson of Westchester, N.Y.; and two granddaughters. Box 2050, Clovis, N.M. 88101. Harry R. Vohs CLOVIS, N.M. - Harry R. Vohs, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in The Chapel with Len Vohs officiating. Military honors will be by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Vohs was born in Bernalillo and had been a longtime resident of Clovis. He attended Rice University and Southern Cal before entering the military to serve during World War II. He married June Heston in 1942 at Houston, Texas. He founded The Vohs Co. in 1946 and worked there until retiring in 1989. He also owned Harbe's Hallmark Store from 1965 to 1979. Mr. Vohs served as chairman of the "Committee of 50'' three times and as president of the original Clovis County Club. He was a longtime member of the Chamber of Commerce and Clovis-Portales Elks Lodge No. 1244. He was of the Jewish faith. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherri Anderson of Phoenix and Babs Davidson of Terre Haute, Ind.; a son, Len Vohs of Clovis; a brother, Norman Vohs of Clovis; a sister, Dorothy Gameral of Roswell; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Oklahoma Milford E. Carson HOOKER, Okla. - Milford E. "Bill'' Carson, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hooker Church of Christ with Don Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Carson was born in Liberal, Kan. He attended school in Liberal and Tyrone. He served in the South Pacific as a machine gunner for 23 months during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married his wife, Naomi, in 1950 at Hutchinson, Kan. They lived in Hutchinson, Waverly, Kan., and East Liverpool, Ohio, before moving to Hooker. Mr. Carson had been a truck driver for 30 years and also had worked with the Corps of Engineers in Waverly, where he helped build the John Redman Reservoir. He farmed for area producers and was employed as the city of Hooker landfill operator until retiring. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Blankenship of East Liverpool; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Canyon Ida C. Frank Ida Catherine Frank, 81, of Canyon, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Holley Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Catholic Church by the Rev. Phu Phan, pastor. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Frank was born in Lindsay. She attended school in Lindsay and Amarillo. She married Joseph Jacob Frank in 1940 at Umbarger. They farmed and ranched there. Mrs. Frank was a member of the Garden Club, the Altar Society, the Iris Society and the Supper Club. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Velma Hoyler of Chicago, Judy Terrel of Canyon, Sue Veale of Amarillo, and Mary Ann Ericson and Eva Jean Frank, both of Canyon; two sisters, Patricia Anne Bezner of Gainesville and Anna Marie Kelting of Corona, Calif.; three brothers, Hugo John Bengford of Lindsay, Ray Bengford of Gainesville and Edward Bengford of Farmington, N.M.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Roselawn Park by Bailey and Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Earl was born in Clarendon. She was a former Amarillo resident. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Vernon L. Earl; a daughter, Shirley Rogers of Palestine; a sister, Mary Jo Rutherford of Amarillo; two brothers, Rogers F. Hester of Clarendon and John L. Hester of Dallas; and two grandchildren. The family will receive calls at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Larry K. Mayo HUNTLEY, Mont. - Larry K. Mayo, 49, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in New Life Assembly Church. Burial will be in Huntley Cemetery by Smith Funeral Chapels in Billings. Mr. Mayo was born in Pampa. He was raised in Miami, Texas, where he graduated from high school. He then attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, for two years. He was a cattleman and worked in many facets of the cattle business. He worked in Wyoming and North Dakota, where he met and married Treva Ready. He was a member of the Montana Stockgrowers Association. Survivors include his wife; children, Larry Ian Mayo of Dallas, Monte Ready of Portland, Ore., and Mistie Daniels of Shepherd; his mother, Annette Mayo; four brothers, S.E. Mayo of Panhandle, Texas, Jerry Mayo of Winnemucca, Nev., Theo Mayo of Gruver, Texas, and Hayden Walters of Canadian, Texas; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be today at Smith West Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Abernathy First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elton Wyatt, associate pastor of St. Luke's Methodist Church, and the Rev. Russ Byard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Kerr was born in Lubbock County. He moved to Abernathy in 1942 from Lubbock. He moved back to Lubbock in 1992. He married Arlene Jones in 1944 at San Diego. Mr. Kerr was the co-owner and manager of Yellowhouse Machinery in Lubbock and Amarillo from 1958 until 1991. He was a Navy veteran, serving on a tanker during World War II. He was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael O. Kerr of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathy Fuller of Midland; a brother, Garland Kerr of Lubbock; three sisters, Vere Fox of Muleshoe, Wilma Jacobs of Overland, Kan., and Morene Davis of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Christine Larson HEREFORD - Christine Larson, 74, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel with the Rev. Bonnie Dunnsworth of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Rev. Jesse Hodge officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mrs. Larson was born in the Cedar Hill community. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1926 from Floyd County. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She married Inman Larson in 1963 at the Bippus community. Survivors include her husband; and five sisters, Anna Kate Bradley of Adrian, Mary Dorris of Clovis, N.M., Stella Sevier of El Paso, Chloe Dell Dowd of Laurel, Ind., and Alta Mae Higgins of Hereford. Joe Guadalupe Valero Sr. FARWELL - Joe Guadalupe Valero Sr., 55, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Muleshoe by the Rev. Paul Terarietet, interim pastor. Burial will be in Muleshoe Cemetery at Muleshoe. Mr. Valero was born in San Angelo. He had been a resident of Farwell since 1982, moving from Friona. He married Anna Velia Salas in 1964. Mr. Valero was a farmer. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Joe Valero Jr., Frank D. Valero and Charles V. Valero, all of Farwell, and Michael Lewis Valero Sr. of Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Diana Valero of Clovis and Mary Ann Valero of Farwell; three sisters, Emily Bara of Lubbock, Mary Valero of Tampa, Fla., and Ufemia Morales of Merkel; five brothers, Mitch Valero and Agapito Valero, both of Muleshoe, Jesse Valero of Sudan, and Felix Valero and Maurillo Valero Jr., both of Abilene; and two grandchildren. Linda Engle Poteet PLAINVIEW - Linda Engle Poteet, 43, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor of First Baptist Church in Olton, and the Rev. B.J. Foster, retired pastor of Lubbock and former pastor of First United Methodist Church in Adrian, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Oldham County Memorial Park at Vega. Mrs. Poteet was born in Big Spring. She grew up in Adrian and graduated from Adrian High School in 1972. She married Tony Poteet in 1973 at Adrian. She lived in Muleshoe before moving to Amarillo in 1976 and to Canyon in 1986. She graduated from Amarillo College in 1996 and moved to Plainview that same year. Mrs. Poteet recently had completed certification as a registered respiratory therapist. She worked for Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. She previously had worked at High Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo and Palo Duro Hospital in Canyon. She also was an emergency medical technician in Canyon. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lynn Poteet and Jason Poteet, both of the home; her father, Howard Engle of Adrian; and a sister, Nina Montgomery of Vega. Stimson Jr. PLAINVIEW - Charles Wesley Stimson Jr., 75, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Memorial Gardens by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Stimson was born in Snyder. He joined the Scurry County National Guard after graduating from Snyder High School. He was a member of Company G, 142nd Infantry, 36th Division. The company was mobilized on Nov. 25, 1940. He saw active duty in the Salerno, Italy, invasion and the capture of Rome and was wounded near Cassino, Italy. He received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He helped organize the reunion of Company G more than 20 years ago. In 1949, Mr. Stimson began working with Southwestern Public Service Co. in Plainview as the safety and personnel director. He moved to the SPS office in Portales, N.M., in 1967. He returned to Plainview in 1978 and retired from SPS. He then became safety and personnel director for Gebo's. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Elks Club and Trinity United Methodist Church. Mr. Stimson married Violet "Nell'' Wooten in 1945 at Post. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cheryl Gebo of Plainview, Marsha Boston of Boise, Idaho, and Charlene Harrison of Hobbs, N.M.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Josefina Estrada MULESHOE - Josefina Estrada, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Recardo Salditos of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Estrada was born in El Paso. She moved to Muleshoe in 1980 from Maple. She married Antonio Estrada in 1947 at LaJunta, Mexico. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Elia Sanchez of Morton, Martha Silvia of Muleshoe and Avelina Padilla of Levelland; and six grandchildren. Roy Evans Eastep FRIONA - Roy Evans Eastep, 99, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Friona Cemetery with the Rev. Herman Krauel officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Eastep was born in Lancaster and had lived in Friona since 1929. He was a member of Union Congregational Church and the Oddfellows. He was a farmer. Survivors include two brothers, Walter Eastep and Oscar Eastep, both of Lancaster; and two sisters, Grace Whitefield of Friona and Estelle Eastep of Lancaster. Clovis M. Rainey WELLINGTON - Clovis M. Rainey, 74, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Scott, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Paris, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Rainey was born in Collingsworth County and graduated from Wellington High School in 1939. She married John Rainey in 1940 at Wellington. He died in 1990. Mrs. Rainey was a dispatcher for the Collingsworth County sheriff's office for 10 years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Mike Rainey and Jerry Rainey, both of Garland; two sisters, Vera Minter of Lefors and Lottie Hall of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren.
