Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at N.S. Griggs and Sons Pioneer Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David Evans, Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Nichols was born in Childress in 1910. She married George Nichols in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. She and her husband owned Peerless Dry Cleaners until retiring in 1972. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Martha Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979. Survivors include three nieces and five nephews. The family requests memorials be to the Building Fund of Trinity Baptist Church. The family will be at 1309 Alta Vista. Dolly Smith Gideon Dolly Smith Gideon, 59, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glendell Smith, chaplain of Baptist St. Anthony's Health System officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. at Claude Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 Osage, Amarillo. Mrs. Gideon was born in Fort Worth. She moved to Amarillo more than 40 years ago from Illinois. She married Winston Gideon in 1971 at Weatherford. She was an LVN at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Clements Unit, for more than six years. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Raymond L. Lindsey of Bedford and Terry Gideon of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Leonard R. Smith Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif., Robert Smith of Rensselaer, Ind., and Michael Sheppard of Fort Worth; a sister, Lori Stembridge of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79106. The family will be at 1503 Hacienda. Faye Whitlock Faye Whitlock, 90, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Llano Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Howard F.M. Childers of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Whitlock was born in Chetokwa, Kan., and moved to Borger with her parents in 1926. She married G.H. "Whit" Whitlock in 1929. The Whitlocks owned Whitlock Drug, housed in the first brick building in Borger, until it burned in 1952. Mrs. Whitlock moved to Shamrock in 1954 where she and her husband owned a wholesale oil company. They moved to Amarillo in 1963. Mrs. Whitlock was a member of First Christian Church and the Rachel Group. She was preceded in death by her husband and a granddaughter. Survivors include a son, Jim Whitlock of Amarillo; a grandchild; and a greatgrandchild. The family requests memorials be to The Opportunity Plan, Inc., 504 24th Street, Canyon, Texas 79015. The family will be at 2818 S. Hayden. H.R. Robbins Jr. H.R. "Bob" Robbins Jr., 68, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Polk Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jim E. and the retired Rev. John Mourer officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Robbins was born in Lubbock. He graduated from Amarillo High and Texas Tech. He married Johnie Peebles at Slaton in 1952 and has owned Robbins Appraisal Service since 1960. He was a past member and Sunday school teacher for Bridge Builders at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, parttime teacher for the McDavid Class and a member of Home Builders Sunday school class at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Mr. Robbins was a past band director of the high school in Post and the junior high band in Big Spring. He was a director of the Greater Southwest Music Festival and past president in 1988-89 and 1994-95. He served four terms as president and two years as vice-governor for the Amarillo Chapter of the Old Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He was also a member of The Appraisal Institute, American Association of Certified Appraisers, Amarillo Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and Texas Association of Realtors. He was past president of the Texas Tech Band and a life member of Kappa Kappa Psi, past member of Amarillo Rotary Club and a member of the Amarillo Club. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Homer L. Robbins of Austin and R. Wesley Robbins of Amarillo; a daughter, M. Suzanne Gerstner of Roswell, N.M.; a sister, Jill Wilson of Arlington; and seven grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to TV Ministry of Polk Street United Methodist Church and will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. today at N.S. Griggs. Mary Helen Cheek Mary Helen Cheek, 67, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at N.S. Griggs & Sons Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Cheek was born in 1930 in Clarendon and lived most of her life in Amarillo. Survivors include five daughters, Rhealine Kilburn, Pat Cheek and Melissa Ornelas, all of Amarillo, and Charlene Cheek and Cindy Savarda, both of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Robert Cheek Jr. of Norman, Okla.; four sisters, Rhonda Jacobs, Rene Clay, Dewayna Graham and Charlotte Frost; a brother, Benny Davis; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Judy Green. The family will be at 3416 Lynette. Memorials may be to the Humane Society of Amarillo. Jess L. Wagnon Jess L. Wagnon, 75, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, Inc., 4100 S. Georgia. Mr. Wagnon was born in Tyrone, Okla. He married Molly R. Womble on Sept. 20, 1950 in Clovis, N.M. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was self-employed in accounting, farming and ranching. He was associated with W.N. Barrick and Leona M. Barrick Estates for more than 20 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Perryton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Brad Wagnon of Richardson; a stepdaughter, Tana Schot of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Eighth, Room 106, Amarillo, Texas 79101. Willie Frances Ramer Palmer Willie Frances Ramer Palmer, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Central Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bob Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home, Inc. of Canyon. Mrs. Palmer was born in 1911 at Ada, Okla. She married John Palmer in 1927 at Ada. He died in November. She was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Palmer was an LVN who worked for Amarillo Independent School District at Wolflin Elementary and for Bank of the Southwest, managing the janitorial services. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Cappelli of Wichita Falls and Kim Young of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.
