Wood Grace W. Wood, 72, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Southlawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Messer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Wood was born in Winters. She had lived in Amarillo since 1945. She had retired from Kerr Paper Company. She was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church and the Rebecca Sunday School Class. She married Robert F. "Bob'' Wood in 1941 at Ballinger. Survivors include her husband; a son, Doug Wood of Amarillo; a daughter, Pam Baldwin of Amarillo; a sister, Rosemary Rodgers of Whitesboro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Shirley Ann Lawrence Shirley Ann Lawrence, 56, of Amarillo, died Friday, July 18, 1997. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle. Cremation is by the funeral home. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Port Saint Joe, Fla. She had lived in Amarillo since 1949. She graduated from Northwest Texas School of Nursing in 1969. She worked at St. Anthony's Hospital as a registered nurse for many years. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother, Walter W. Savage Elva B. Savage, 81, of Lubbock, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, July 19, 1997. Interstate 40. Mrs. Savage came to Amarillo in 1950 from Stratford. She was a homemaker. She married Brooks H. Savage in 1938 at Dumas. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Calvin H. Savage of Amarillo; a daughter, Cleta Stratton of South Fork, Colo.; a brother; two sisters, Dorothy Dole of Henderson, Nev., and Thelma Gervais of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of the Shepherd. Mrs. Peek was born in Granite, Okla. She came to Amarillo in 1946 from Granite. She graduated from Amarillo College with an R.N. degree in 1968. She was a registered nurse and a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God. She married Roy J. Peek in 1950 in Clovis, N.M. He died in 1993. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Yvonne Peek, in 1971. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Peek of Canyon, Thomas Edward Polk of Pearl, Miss., Roy DeWayne Peek and Perry Lynn Peek, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Markeeta Lewis of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Williams, 68, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. M.O. Garner, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mrs. Williams was born in Rising Star. She moved to Amarillo in 1958 from Borger. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Taylor, in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Starr Boston of Amarillo, and Tijuana Taylor of Longview; a son, Ed Edwards of Amarillo; two sisters, Norma Pope of Dallas, and Ruby Taylor of Bolivar, Tenn.; two brothers, Weldon Fry and Martin Allin, both of Bolivar, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Charles Newton Lewis Charles Newton Lewis, 84, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Tuesday in First Baptist Church at Springfield, Colo., with the Rev. Max Bowlin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Colo. Arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home Inc. of Canyon. Mr. Lewis was born in Guymon, Okla. He grew up in Hough Community in Oklahoma and attended Morning Star School near Guymon. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II. After his service with the Navy, he farmed in the Guymon area. He married Greta Lasley in 1974 at Springfield, Colo. They have lived in Amarillo since 1990. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Mildred Duke of Wellington; five stepsons, Claude Crawford of Dumas, Norman Crawford, Iman Crawford and Billy Crawford, all of Amarillo, and Mickey Crawford of Canyon; a brother, Earl Lewis of Beaver, Okla.; four sisters, Bulah Laird of Tulsa, Okla., Ethel Carlson of Clifton, Kan., Betty Rasson of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Anne Doebbeling of Ness City, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Area Jack L. Addy PAMPA - Jack L. Addy, 42, died Friday, July 18, 1997. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Billy T. Jones, minister of West Side Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Mr. Addy was born in Coshocton, Ohio. He came to Pampa in 1983 from Oklahoma. He had worked as a vehicle mechanic for the city of Pampa for the past five years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Debbie Little in 1981 at Cleburne. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jason Addy of Delaware, Ohio, Joshua Addy of Columbus, Ohio, Levi and Ethan Addy, both of the home; his mother, Eileen Hall of Newcomerstown, Ohio; five brothers, Stan Addy, Bruce Addy, Martin Addy and Victor Addy, all of Newcomerstown, and Jay Addy of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Lynn Scott of Newcomerstown, and Susan Norman of West Lafayette, Ohio. Harvey Toten MULESHOE - Harvey Toten, 88, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jack Stone officiating. Burial will be at Muleshoe Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Toten was born in Montague County. He had lived in Muleshoe since 1927, moving from Bowie. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He was a construction truck driver. He married Flois Lillian Owens in 1931 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1984. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dorman Toten, in 1964. Survivors include three daughters, Frances Bland of Muleshoe, Carolyn Collis Burch of Melrose, N.M., and Theresa Jones of Dumas; two sisters, Ethel Pratt of Panhandle, and Mary Ruth Sims of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Anna Melissa Carey CLARENDON - Anna Melissa Carey, 79, died Saturday, July 19, 1997, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, Mike Suiter, minister of Clarendon Church of Christ, and the Rev. Robert Brewer, pastor of Missionary Baptist Church in Shamrock, officiating. Burial will be at Shamrock Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. Mrs. Carey was born in Rockville, Ind., and had lived in Indiana for much of her life before moving to Shamrock in 1960. She had been a Clarendon resident for the past two years. She married Melvin Wayne Carey in 1936 at Rockville, Ind. He died in 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by two sons. Survivors include three daughters, Minnie Kingston and Sharon Holly, both of Amarillo, and Karon Kincannon of Shamrock; five sons, Cecil Carey of Rosedale, Ind., Virgil Carey of Wheeler, Charles Carey of Springtown, Jack Carey of Houston, and Fred Carey of Montezuma, Ind.; 34 grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Anderson Taylor Sr. PLAINVIEW - Anderson "Andy'' Taylor Sr., 80, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, and Kenneth Coates, minister of education, officiating. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Taylor was born in the Runningwater Community in Hale County. He grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview schools. He had worked at Chun Grocery Store for several years. In 1940, he started Andy Taylor Trucking Company and operated the company until 1985. In 1955, he built grain elevators west of Plainview and Edmonson and operated them until 1968. He also had farming interest. In 1984, he had oil interests in Brown County until 1996. He also was a Plainview City Councilman from 1980 to 1986. He was also a member of First Baptist Church and of the Pastor's Class, where he served as a greeter. He married Jodene Elizabeth Willis Taylor in 1938 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly Alvis of Plainview, and Rebecca Cooper of Lubbock; a son, Andy Taylor Jr. of Abilene; foster children, Phil and Marca Mayberry of Fort Smith, Ark.; three brothers, Phillip Taylor of Lubbock, Kent Taylor of Plainview, and Robert Taylor of Amarillo; three sisters, Doris Payne of Dumas, Maxine Taylor of Plainview, and Imogene Kelly of Guymon, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. Riley Matthews DALHART - Riley Matthews, 78, died Saturday, July 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Jimmye Cole, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home, Inc. of Dalhart. Mr. Matthews was born in Virgin, Utah. He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had worked for the Texas Highway Department for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was a past member of the American Legion. He married Fannie Katherine Stubblefield in 1944. They moved to Dalhart in 1948. Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Marie Morris of Dalhart, and Bertha "Jeannie'' Matthews of Eldorado, Kan.; a son, Dale Valdon Matthews of Austin; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 507 Scott. The family requests memorials be to Coon Memorial Nursing Home. Frances A. Morton CHILDRESS - Frances A. Morton, 72, died Friday, July 18, 1997. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today in Childress Cemetery with Dr. David Hamblin officiating. Arrangements by North's Funeral Homes of Abilene. Mrs. Morton was raised in Memphis. She moved to Childress in 1945. She was the director of the first outreach clinic in Childress and moved to Abilene in 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married Doug Morton in 1975 at Hollis, Okla. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Clifford Cates of Amarillo, and Kelvin Cates of Lafayette, La.; a daughter, Carol Jones of Hereford; two stepdaughters, Becky Pleming of Amarillo, and Johnna Barrentine of Shallowater; two sisters, Edith Marcum of Amarillo, and Doris Ayers of Borger; three grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
