Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Leon Green of Bolton Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Washburn Cemetery at Washburn. Mr. Emberton was born in Plainview. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1976. He worked for IBP inc. in Amarillo before moving to Dallas. He was an electrician for American Trailer Repair of Dallas. He was a member of 4-H. Survivors include two sons, Cody Lee Emberton of Bedford and Michael Shane Emberton of Sanger; his mother, Amanda Jane Emberton of Amarillo; and a brother, Gregory Dean Emberton of Arkansas. The family will be at 3119 Philadelphia St. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. New Mexico Ramon A. Romero PORTALES, N.M. - Ramon A. Romero, 84, died Friday, June 20, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Helen Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Helen Catholic Church by the Rev. Anthony Martinez. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Romero was born in San Miguel County and spent his early life there. He married Manuelita Garcia in 1934 at Willard. She died in 1988. After marrying, he moved to Encino and worked for the railroad. He moved to Portales in 1950 and farmed there until 1964. For the next four years, he owned and operated a Phillips 66 service station. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Paul Romero of Columbus, Ind., Archie Romero of Clovis and Celso Romero of Roswell; two daughters, Mary Villanueva of Deming and Emma Britton of Portales; two sisters, Rosaria Vigil of Santa Cruz and Maggie Trujillo of Espanola; 22 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Hazel C. Jones CLAYTON, N.M. - Hazel C. Jones, 91, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Murphy, pastor of Clayton Church of God, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Ms. Jones was born in Yale, Payne County, Okla. She moved to New Mexico with her parents in 1907 and homesteaded south of Clayton in the New Home community. She attended school at New Home and Mansker and was a 1927 graduate of Clayton High School. She also was a graduate of Highland University in Las Vegas. She taught in several Union County schools as well as other schools in New Mexico from 1927 until retiring in 1971. She moved to Clovis and lived there until moving to Clayton in 1990. Ms. Jones was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis. She was preceded in death by a son, Gale Church, in 1990; and a daughter, Wanda Harris, in 1987. Survivors include a son, Jim Page of Clayton; two brothers, Chester Casida of Canon City, Colo., and Loyd Casida of Elephant Butte; two sisters, Dorothy Lynch and Vada Leighton, both of Elephant Butte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. Canyon Margaret L. Kirkman Margaret Lou Kirkman, 82, of Canyon, died Friday, June 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Holley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Kirkman was born in Hunt County. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Canyon. She married Clarence Kirkman in 1941 at Wolf City. He preceded her in death. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Harding of Ulysses, Kan., Sherry Watson of Canyon and Barbara Bridges of Amarillo; a brother, Charles Wright of Rowlett; two sisters, Ruth Stoughton of Dumas and Kathryn Byrd of Greenville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Area Arly Niece BOOKER - Arly James Niece, 77, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Sophia Cemetery with the Rev. Monte Kreis officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service. Mr. Niece was born in Villegreen, Colo. He moved at an early age with his family to a farm near Booker. He worked with his father and uncle in the farming operation until volunteering for service in the Air Force in 1946. After his discharge, he returned to the family farm, where he lived until moving to Booker into 1990. Mr. Niece was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Ada Lemcke of Wichita, Kan., and Lottie Celete Beames of Hemet, Calif.; and a brother, Edgar Niece of Huron, S.D. Sidney F. Lands McLEAN - Sidney F. "Sid'' Lands, 71, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery by Lamb Funeral Home. Mr. Lands was born in Four Acre, Okla. He moved to McLean from Midkiff in 1957. He then moved to Goldsmith and returned to McLean in 1986. He retired as superintendent at El Paso Natural Gas Co. after 42 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and McLean Masonic Lodge No. 889. Mr. Lands married Doris Thomas in 1949 at Hobbs, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Butch Lands of San Angelo; a sister, Gloria Belle Pellegrine of Marseilles, Ill.; and two grandsons. Velma Lutie Hearn CLARENDON - Velma Lutie Hearn, 90, formerly of Clarendon, died Thursday, June 19, 1997, in Conroe. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Martin Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Hearn was born in Beaver County, Okla. She lived in Donley County most of her life before moving to Conroe five years ago. She married Charlie Claude Hearn in 1924 at Clarendon. He died in 1991. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Gene Lyle Hearn in 1937 and Duane Hearn in 1992. Mrs. Hearn was a homemaker and a member of Martin Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Viola Hitt of Burnet and Shirley Thomas of Houston; a foster daughter, Doris Gregory of Borger; two sons, Claude Hearn of Spokane, Wash., and Billy Hearn of Houston; a brother, Kenneth Lyle of Dallas; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Henry Olie Wynn CHILDRESS - Henry Olie "Rod'' Wynn, 85, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Jim McCurley officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Wynn was born in Turkey, Texas. He worked for Kimbell Grocery Warehouse for 24 years. He was a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of the Navy and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Eileen Hood in 1939 at Parnell. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Cheatheam of Granbury; two sisters, Evelyn Goyne and LaVora Leverett, both of Grand Prairie; a brother, Rhubert Wynn of Memphis; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
