Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Spelce was born in Bonham and had lived in Borger for 52 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. "Dick'' Spelce, in 1978. Survivors include two sons, Bill Spelce of Borger and J.C. Spelce Jr. of O'Fallon, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Jim Mayberry PAMPA - Jim Mayberry, 56, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, in Amarillo. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Lonny Robbins, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Mayberry was born in Pampa, where he had lived all his life. He worked for Gulf Oil Co. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Mayberry Jr. of Shattuck, Okla.; two daughters, Jodi Cochran and Jamie South, both of Russellville, Ala.; and six grandchildren. Alfredo Diaz DUMAS - Alfredo Diaz, 36, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor, and the Rev. Ernesto Rodriquez, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Hispana, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Diaz was born in El Paso and had been a resident of Dumas since 1984. He was an electrician and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Bridgett Hyde of the home; two daughters, Kayla Diaz of Barstow, Calif., and Leticia Contreas Diaz of Borger; a stepson, Gary Martin Hyde II of the home; three stepdaughters, Tiffany Rene Hyde, Bethany Louise Hyde and Holly Ann Hyde, all of the home; his mother, Elisa Diaz of Sunland Park, N.M.; four brothers, Carlos M. Diaz, Rodolfo Diaz Jr. and David Diaz, all of Sunland Park, and Raul Diaz of Melrose Park, Ill.; and two sisters, Maria Ramos and Raquel Robles, both of Sunland Park. Orman Ward Tumlinson DIMMITT - Orman Ward "Lou'' Tumlinson, 72, of Victoria, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home. Mr. Tumlinson was born in Elida, N.M. He moved to Victoria in 1991 from Lubbock. He worked in the construction business as a refrigeration engineer for 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include a brother, Preston Tumlinson of Deming, N.M.; and three sisters, Elva Webster of Stone Mountain, Ga., Nora Belle Chilton of Mountainair, N.M., and Naomi Riegel of Clovis, N.M. Mrs. McGuire was born in Caddo, Okla. She had lived in Quanah since 1953, moving from Caddo. She married Jon McGuire in 1972 at Quanah. Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Belinda King and Heather Dawn McGuire, both of Quanah, and Tammy Weldon of Houma, La.; six sisters, Jodie Wilks of Kirkland, Mary Evelyn Dorr, Vada May Taylor and Barbara Ann Alexander, all of Durant, Okla., Peggy Sue Elder of Quanah and Loretta Joan McWhorter of Leeds, Ala.; a brother, Bill Lorance of Quanah; and seven grandchildren. Velma Taylor CHILDRESS - Velma Kimbrough Taylor, 98, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, in Texarkana. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church with her nephew, the Rev. Mrs. Taylor was born in Parker County. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzo B. Taylor Sr. Survivors include two sons, Max Taylor of Texarkana, Ark., and L.B. Taylor of Midland; a daughter, Jo Evelyn Carpenter of Bracketville; a sister, Alta Bennett of Childress; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren. She married Denzil C. "Jack'' Ash in 1933 at Guymon, Okla. He died in 1980. Mrs. Ash worked as a sales clerk at Behrman's for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Business and Professional Women's Sunday School class. Survivors include two nieces, Lillian LaBerge of Longview, Wash., and Ellen Couch of Madras, Ore. Catherine McClung DALHART - Catherine McClung, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Foltz, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. McClung was born in Wheeling, W.Va. She married Lonnie McClung in 1945 at Wheeling. They moved to Dalhart in 1947. Mr. McClung died in 1991. Mrs. McClung was director of the Dallam-Hartley child development center for about 20 years. Survivors include a son, Lonnie F. McClung of Dalhart; a daughter, Joy C. White of Canyon; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Refugio De Los Santos HEREFORD - Refugio "Rufus'' De Los Santos, 80, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home Rose Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in La Iglesia de San Jose with the Rev. Domingo Castillo officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Mr. De Los Santos was born in Mexico. He moved to Texas in 1923 from The Valley. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1944 from Littlefield. He married Alice Gonzalez in 1946 at Vernon. Mr. De Los Santos was a truck driver and a member of La Iglesia de San Jose. Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond De Los Santos of Amarillo; three daughters, Mary Helen Chavarria and Esther Briceno, both of Dallas, and Janie Vallejo of Amarillo; a brother, Seferino De Los Santos of Roswell, N.M.; six sisters, Delfina Pesina, Hope Martinez, Lupe Florez, Hilda De Los Santos and Olga De Los Santos, all of Hereford, and Catherine Pesina of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Ruby King DUMAS - Ruby King, 92, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Clark of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mrs. King was born in Mena, Ark., and had been a resident of Dumas since 1946. She married Albert King in 1945 at Lawton, Okla. He died in 1972. Mrs. King was a retail store clerk. She was a Baptist and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Hall of Dumas; a son, Lawrence Carothers of Oklahoma City; a brother, W.A. Hamilton of Inglewood, Colo.; a sister, Edna Nutt of Beaumont, Calif.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1507 Bailey. Lee Chumbley CANADIAN - Lee Chumbley, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with Roger Smelser Sr., minister, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Chumbley moved to Canadian in 1927 from Kentucky. He graduated from Canadian High School. He served with the Army in the Asian Pacific Theater during World War II and was stationed on the island of Saipan. He was a carpenter and a member of First Christian Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Veterans Memorial in Canadian. Mr. Chumbley married Gloria Jean Snider in 1952 at Clayton, N.M. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Louise Chumbley, in 1952. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Frances Sullivan of Ovilla and Janis Northcott of Amarillo; a son, Lee Chumbley of Marlow, Okla.; a sister, Edith Martin of Canadian; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 4th Street, Canadian, Texas 79014. Amarillo Patsy Lee Clifton Patsy Lee Clifton, 74, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Ewing of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Clifton was born in Dalhart. She had lived in Amarillo for the past 43 years. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital for several years. She married Earl Clifton in 1937 at Tucumcari, N.M. They managed the Arrowhead Lodge at Red River, N.M., and she had worked in the office of the River Ranch for seven years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Her son, Johnny Lee Clifton, died three months ago. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Earline Luse and Connie Fennell, both of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3012 Westhaven Drive. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. Edna Louise Wall Edna Louise Wall, 76, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Memorial Park at Midland by Ellis Funeral Home of Midland. Local arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Wall was born in Childress. She moved to Amarillo in 1961 from Houston. She moved to Midland in 1970 and returned to Amarillo in 1992. She was a retired beautician and a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. She was a Baptist and attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Mrs. Wall was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Mitchell, in 1983. She married William C. Wall in 1992 at Midland. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cindy Stokes of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Alejandro Rocha Alejandro Rocha, 20, of 1431 Trigg, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997. Services will be in Mexico. Rosary will be recited every night at 8 p.m. until Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 1431 Trigg. Arrangements are by the family. Mr. Rocha was born in Maravillas, Chihuahua, Mexico, and moved to the state of Chihuahua in 1992. He moved to Amarillo in 1994. He was a roofer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his parents, Nicolas and Rosa Rocha of Mexico; a son, Alejandro Rocha Jr. of Mexico; three brothers, Mario Rocha, Lupe Rocha and Nicolas Rocha, all of Mexico; and two sisters, Rosa Isela Rocha and Griselda Rocha, both of Mexico. The body will be available for viewing tonight at 808 N. Jefferson St. Oklahoma Geoffrey Alvin Peterson GUYMON, Okla. - Geoffrey Alvin Peterson, 8, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Richard Duffy, president, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Geoffrey was born in Guymon. He was a second-grade student at Academy Grade School. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, Geoffrey Peterson of Guymon; his mother, Angelique Peterson of Goodwell; two sisters, Alania Peterson of Guymon and Dedra Peterson of Goodwell; and grandparents, George and Beverly Peterson of Guymon, Wanda and Andy Bryant of California and Betty Walker of Alabama. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Rose was born in Matador. He graduated from Matador High School and attended Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo. He married Lisa Ashley in 1985 at Matador. Mr. Rose had worked as a television and appliance repairman. He more recently had operated an automotive detailing and service business. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was active with the Boy Scouts and Little League. Survivors include his wife; a son, Quinten Rose of the home; a daughter, Savannah Rose of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rose of Matador; a brother, Tony Rose of Matador; a sister, Coleen Baxter of Dimmitt; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Thrasher of Plainview.
