Forest, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. La Von Thompson of Life of Praise Fellowship officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Grady was born in Panhandle and had lived in Amarillo for 50 years. She was a Baptist, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She married J. Mike Grady in 1955 at Bernalillo, N.M. He died in 1995. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Sue Watson, in 1992. Survivors include a son, Don Grady of Amarillo; a brother, C.D. Lemley of Amarillo; three sisters, Doris Hall, Laverne Cole and Melba Lampkin, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4700 S. Bowie St. Gertrude M. Acklin Gertrude M. Acklin, 93, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Lyndon Latham, minister of Anna Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Ms. Acklin was born in Terrell. She was a homemaker for 79 years and a member of Fairview Church of Christ for more than 20 years. She was active with the Amarillo Senior Citizens. She married Chester F. Acklin in 1916 at Waxahachie. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a son, T.G. Acklin, and a daughter, Dovie Graham. Survivors include four sons, Walter Acklin of Sweetwater, C.F. Acklin of Virginia, Dallas Acklin of Hamlin and Whitfield Acklin of Amarillo; three daughters, Marie Ruppert of Arlington, Margie Brown of Plano and Omega Sugg of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Juanita Crawford of Alvarado and Inez Baze of Weatherford; 32 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. The family will be at 711 Birmingham. Shannon L. Boothe Shannon L. Boothe, 80, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Boothe was born in Chillicothe. He graduated from Mercedes High School and served with the Air Force. He moved to Amarillo in 1947. He retired from Phillips Petroleum. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the National Rifle Association and the Philresters Club. Mr. Boothe married Wilma Pope in 1943 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Lena Mae Botts of Amarillo. The family will be at 2210 S. Milam St. They request memorials be to a favorite charity. Helen Jean Ralson Helen Jean Ralson, 88, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School class. She also was active in WMU. She married John Ralson in 1929 at Winfield, Kan. He died in 1983. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mario was born in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Portales when he was 3 months old. He had attended Portales schools all of his life. He was a sophomore at Portales High School. Survivors include his parents, Martha and Henry Joe Ruiz Sr. of the home; a brother, Henry Joe Ruiz II of the home; and grandparents, Rita and Jerry Ruiz of Portales and Maria and Lupe Mendoza of Hutchinson, Kan. D.D. Floyd CLOVIS, N.M. - D.D. Floyd, 70, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery at Bovina, Texas. Military honors will be by Cannon Air Force Base Ceremonial Flight. Mr. Floyd was born in Wanette, Okla., and was raised on his parents' ranch in Bovina. He moved to Clovis in 1950. He served with the Army during World War II in the Philippines. He worked many years as a contractor in the construction business before retiring. He was a member of 16th & Pile Church of Christ and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3280. He worked for the Green Thumb Program. Mr. Floyd married Lois Ruth Baysinger in 1994 at Farwell, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Max Floyd of Clovis and Monte Ray Floyd of Houston, Texas; a brother, Cecil Floyd of Marble Falls, Texas; two sisters, Leatha Venable of Amarillo and Lucille of California; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dortch was born in Cass County, Mo.. She lived most of her life in Stratford until moving to Lindale in 1989. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Stratford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corum Dortch, in 1976; and a son, Richard Dortch, in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Tyler of Hide-A-Way Lake near Tyler; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Dr. John Wesley Pace Jr. MIDLAND - Dr. John Wesley Pace Jr., 58, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Tall City Baptist Church with Dr. Rex Reynolds of Hermleigh officiating. He was educated in Pelham until moving to Midland, where he graduated from Carver High School. He attended Texas Southern University in Houston. He began preaching in 1990. In 1991, he was endorsed by First Baptist Church of Hermleigh as the missionary pastor of New Life Missionary Baptist Chapel. Dr. Pace continued his education at West Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary. He received his bachelor's degree, master's degree in theology and doctorate in theology from WTBI. He also was a faculty member at the seminary. He served on the board of the Neighborhood Housing Service and was a member of the Downtown Lions Club. He also was coordinator for the Midland Police Chaplains. Survivors include three daughters, Bridgette Pace, Crystal Pace and Terroni Espinoza-Pace, all of Garland; three sisters, Addie Johnson, Kitty Spears Joiner and Beulah Faye Wilson, all of Midland; and two grandsons. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be to the building fund at New Life Mission of Midland. Glynn Hill LUBBOCK - Glynn Hill, 67, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Amarillo with the Rev. Robert Black of First Baptist Church in Plainview officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Hill was born in Plainview. At an early age, he moved with his family to Giddings, where he graduated from high school. After graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso, he entered mortuary school at Houston. He received his funeral director's and embalmer's licenses. He was a funeral director in Texas for 40 years before retiring. He was the former owner of Hill Funeral Chapel in Temple. Before moving to Lubbock, he lived in Idalou for several years. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 1993. He married Vivian Adams in 1994 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brent Hill of Austin and Travis Hill of Salt Lake City; a stepson, Gentry Lynn of Idalou; a stepdaughter, Serena Elmore of Tokio; two brothers, Joe Hill of Odessa and Wayland Hill of Temple; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Area Dr. Everett O. Nichols Jr. PLAINVIEW - Dr. Everett O. Nichols Jr., 84, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997. Cremation was by Lemons Funeral Home. Dr. Nichols was born and raised in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School and received his degree from the University of Texas. He and his father, the late Dr. E.O. Nichols Sr., operated the Plainview Hospital and Clinic Foundation during the 1940s. They sold it to Hale County. In the 1950s, they began Nichols Clinic, which later became Nichols Hospital and Clinic. Dr. Nichols was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Eleanor Halbert in 1948. She died July 11. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Roberts of Fort Worth; a son, Jack Nichols of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She had been a Borger resident since 1941, moving from Oklahoma City. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer W. "Jake'' Reese, in 1967. Survivors include three sons, Phil Reese of Woodward, Okla., David Reese of Austin and John Paul Reese of Houston; a daughter, Maurine Aguilar of Borger; six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Lydia Mae Hayes ESTELLINE - Lydia Mae "Granny'' Hayes, 97, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Estelline Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Merrell of Overton, Nev., officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Memphis. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mrs. Hayes was born in Hattin Gap, Ark. She was a cafeteria cook for the Estelline schools for 10 years. He was a member of Estelline Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. She married J.H. Hayes in 1918. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by two sons, John Willis Hayes and Billy Wayne Hayes. Survivors include five daughters, Dorothy Huckaby of Amarillo, Ellen Hill of Euless, Jimmie Tallon of Fort Worth, Jean Perkins of Amarillo and Linda Keever of Estelline; a son, Bobby Hayes of Childress; 17 grandchildren; 36 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. The family will be at 806 Ave. G. N.W. in Childress. Rick Boyer DALHART - Rick Boyer, 50, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Dalhart Elks Lodge officiating. Burial will be in Old Lebanon Cemetery at Walnut Ridge, Ark. Mr. Boyer was born in Fresno, Calif. He was raised in Arkansas and moved to Dalhart in 1984 while working for Cotton Belt Railroad. He married Roxy in 1986 at Dalhart. Mr. Boyer worked for Premium Standard Farms and was a certified locksmith. He was a member and esquire of Elks Lodge No. 2390. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Memory "Anne'' Hall of Dalhart, Tawnya Boughner of Ward, Ark., and Tracey Hill of Cabot, Ark.; a son, Rick "Chip'' Boyer of Hickory Plains, Ark.; his parents, Marshall and Jean Boyer of DesArc, Ark.; a sister, Marsha Boyer of New Orleans; and four grandchildren. Albert Ross Latham HEREFORD - Albert Ross Latham, 78, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Fuller and the Rev. Dennis Latham officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery by Parkside Chapel. Mr. Latham was born in Rusk County. He moved to Hereford in 1954 from Ropesville. He had farmed in and around the Hereford area for most of his life. He married Irene Lindsey in 1946 at Levelland. Mr. Latham was a member of First United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, the Hereford Lions Club, the Khiva Temple in Amarillo. He was past president of the Osias Shrine Club. Survivors include his wife; a son, the Rev. Dennis Latham of El Reno, Okla.; a brother, Marcus Latham of Hereford; three sisters, Fairy Rogers of Henderson, Louise Ferguson of Hereford and Evylen Millner of Vernon; and two granddaughters. Ranzel Ellis Morgan PLAINVIEW - Ranzel Ellis Morgan, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Kress with Murry L. Brewer, retired Baptist minister from Amarillo, and Jeffery Lee of First Baptist Church of Kress officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by WoodDunning Funeral Home. Mr. Morgan was born in Hobart, Okla. He moved to Hale County in 1928 from Hobart. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1940. He served with the Army during World War II. He married Doris Evelyn Monroe in 1941 in the Finney community of Hale County. He was a farmer and a cattleman. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Kress and an RA church camp leader. He was a 4-H and FFA leader. He was an honorary chapter farmer with the Kress FFA. He was a member of the Kress Farmers Elevator board of directors. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by a son, Kent Dewayne Morgan, in 1974. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lynette Foster of Kress; two sons, Gary Morgan of Birmingham, Ala., and Russell Morgan of Rowlett; a sister, Frances Preston of Slaton; a brother, Mack Morgan of Hendersonville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mary Garcia Rivas PADUCAH - Mary Garcia Rivas, 48, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Seigler Funeral Home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic church. Survivors include two sons, Andy Ray Rivas of Paducah and Nick Ray Rivas of San Antonio; three daughters, Melissa Gonzales, Dorian Gonzales and Luisa Rivas, all of Paducah; her mother, Garbelia Vasquez of Lubbock; three brothers; four sisters; and six grandchildren. Crow Orr MEMPHIS - Crow Orr, 61, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, in Madera, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memphis First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Orr was born in Memphis. He graduated from Memphis High School in 1955 and attended Texas Christian University. He then served with the Army during the Korean War. He returned to Memphis in 1973 and worked for Plaska Gin for several years. He began working for Wal-Mart in Childress in 1986 and was the customer service manager at the time of his death. Survivors include a sister, Carolyn Seibold of Paradise. The family requests memorials be to the AIDS Foundation. Art Dawes SPEARMAN - Art Dawes, 67, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Freewill Baptist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Caudell officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Dawes was born in Chelsea, Okla. He had lived in the Spearman area for 18 years, moving from Guymon. While living in Guymon, he was an irrigation well repairman for Nash Bros. Implement. After moving to Spearman, he was a truck driver. He married Jewell Pride in 1971 at Guymon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Cliff Dawes of Grapevine; two daughters, Robin Rider of Guymon and Marilyn Jones of Toronto, Kan.; two stepsons, Harold Zundell of Wichita Falls and Noah Roberson of Aspermont; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Shields of Guymon and Judy Lewallen of Canyon; two sisters, Jane Teeter of Hobbs, N.M., and Jo Ann Tice of Pampa; two brothers, Billy Dawes of Guymon and John Dawes of Pampa; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
