She was employed as a clerk at Hastings at the time of her death. She also operated a booth at the flea market for her uncle. She was in the process of obtaining her GED. Survivors include her husband, Teodoro; two sons, Frankie Malacara and Angel Malacara, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Judy Garcia of Clinton, Okla.; and her mother, Maria Malacara of Amarillo. The family will be at 1220 S. Arthur St. Beulah Edwards Wright Beulah Edwards Wright, 67, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 21, 1997. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Wright was born in Dickens. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Dickens. She returned to the Dickens-Jayton area in 1975 and moved back to Amarillo in 1989. She attended Charity Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church of Dickens. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Graves of Amarillo, Zela Young of Sunray and Delma Chambers of Novice; a son, Walter "Butch'' Morris of Dallas; two sisters, Norma Jackson of Amarillo and Joyce Pearson of Dickens; two brothers, Jack Edwards of Colorado City and Harold Edwards of Raeford, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Georgia St. Mrs. Faust was born in Burkburnett and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Faust, in 1993. He moved to Amarillo in 1953 from Dodson. He served in the Navy before being discharged in 1945. He was a mechanic for Potter County and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on July 17. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Stephens of Amarillo and Gail Johnson of Hedley; two brothers, Joe Weaver of Portland, Ore., and Delton Weaver of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Susie Belle Neel Susie Belle Neel, 94, of Lubbock, a former Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Neel was born in Eustace. She married W.C. "Bill'' Neel in 1923 at Palestine. They moved to Amarillo in 1926 from Palestine. They owned and operated W.C. Neel Paint Contracting and Decorating Co. Mr. Neel died in 1972. Mrs. Neel was a longtime member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Vaughn-Selby Sunday School class since 1935. She moved to Lubbock in 1992 from Amarillo. Iva Mae Murdock Iva Mae Murdock, 48, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. She was a hair stylist for 25 years. She was a director for the Women's Bowling Association. She was a member of the Amarillo Softball Scorekeeper Association and served as president for five years. She was the 1994 Scorekeeper of the Year and served as secretary of Monday Softball League. Mrs. Murdock was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter, Toni Murdock of Amarillo; a son, John R. Murdock Jr. of Lewisville; and a sister, Martha Lou Hawthorne of Amarillo. Private burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Loter was born in Throckmorton County and graduated from Throckmorton High School. She married Charles E. Loter in 1941 at Alpine. They moved to Wheeler from Fort Davis. They lived in Wheeler until 1988, when they moved to Corpus Christi. Mrs. Loter was a clerk for McIlhaney's Dry Goods for many years. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Wheeler First United Methodist Church and a teacher of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She had an associate membership at Wesley United Methodist Church Corpus Christi. Mr. Loter died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Dr. Joe C. Loter of Corpus Christi; four sisters, Josephine Coffman and Quetana Drumm, both of Princeton, Idaho, Inell Sproul of Fort Davis and Audrey West of Alto, N.M.; a brother, John Newton of Princeton; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Clements was born in Sedan, N.M. She married John "Jasper'' Clements in 1938 at Clayton, N.M., and they moved to Dalhart. She was a nurses' aide at Coon Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She also worked at the Super Dog and Frosty drive-ins. Box 190567, Dallas, Texas 75219-0567. Dennis Fred Cline SPEARMAN - Dennis Fred Cline, 49, died Monday, July 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with John Scott officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Cline was born in Aspermont. He had lived in the Spearman area for 23 years, moving from Fayetteville, N.C. He married Marilyn Blodgett in 1972 at Spearman. He served in the Army for seven years, 21/2 of which were served in combat during the Vietnam War. He received two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He served with the 173rd Airborne Battalion in Vietnam. While stateside, he served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. Mr. Cline was a farmer and a rancher before retiring in 1996. He had been a Hansford County deputy sheriff since 1991. He was a Baptist and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Paint Horse Association, the National Rifle Association and the Texas Sheriff's Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Grady Cline of Spearman; a daughter, Bethany Cline of the home; his mother, Imalou Raindl of Tahoka; and three sisters, Pamela Miller of Tahoka, June Goolsby of Lubbock and Mary Gayle Raindl of Loveland, Colo. Lester Howard Lindsey PAMPA - Lester Howard Lindsey, 66, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, in Los Angeles. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Jim Prock, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow services. Mr. Lindsey was born in Caddo, Okla. He graduated from Caddo High School. He had been an employee of Phillips Petroleum, working first in Borger before being transferred to their atomic energy subsidiary in Idaho. He also lived in Amarillo for a short time. At the time of his death, Mr. Lindsey was working with C.R. England Trucking Co., of Salt Lake City. Most of his working career was spent in the atomic energy field. For several years, he was a technical supervisor for Edgerton, Germeshaushen & Grier Inc. of Las Vegas. He later worked for the same company out of Durango, Colo. He also worked in their overseas offices in the public relations department. He was a Baptist. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Gail Roberts, Pamela Ann Hardin and Shirley Denise Lindsey, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Dorothy L. Gray of Amarillo and Helen L. Pope of Angleton; five grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to The American Diabetes Association. She attended Harding College in Searcy, Ark., and graduated from North Texas Teacher's College in Denton in 1945. She moved to Pampa in 1948 from Denton. She taught first grade in Skellytown for a number of years before retiring in the early 1970s. She was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. Young, 61, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church Chapel. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Young was born in Gainesville. He grew up in Petersburg and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1954. He served in the Marines until being discharged in 1957. He farmed in the Plainview area and was in the fertilizer business in Dalhart. He retired in 1996 as an investigator for Texas A&M Feed and Grain. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pastor's Class. Mr. Young married Nancy Slaton in 1955 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rebecca Mozelle McKie of Socorro, N.M.; and two sons, John Michael Young of Azle and Stephen Dyer Young of Plainview. Nellie M. Horton WHEELER - Nellie M. Horton, 91, died Monday, July 21, 1997. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Horton was born near Mangum, Okla. She married Dewey Logan Horton in 1938 at Wellington. He died in 1958. She worked as a cook in the osteopathic hospital in Amarillo for more than 20 years. She also had been a farmer. Mrs. Horton moved to Wheeler from Amarillo 20 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two brothers, Gus Brock of Amarillo and Minor Lee Carson of Dallas; and two sisters, Sallie B. Harris of Wheeler and Helen Ward of Houston. Oklahoma Leslie E. Hampton GUYMON, Okla. - Leslie E. Hampton, 62, of Liberal, Kan., a former Guymon resident, died Friday, July 18, 1997, in Wichita, Kan. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Smith of Turpin Methodist Church officiating. Mr. Hampton was born in Wallace, Ark. As a young man, he helped his family in the timber business building furniture. In 1958, he moved to Guymon and worked for Hitch Farms and later drove trucks for various firms. He retired in 1973 after 32 years of driving. In 1973, he began working for Gibson's in Guymon and worked there for eight years. He married Peggy Peabody in 1968 at Alamosa, Colo. Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Odell Hampton of Amarillo, Odean Hampton of Turpin and Tim Hampton of California; and two sisters, Martha Lewis of Oklahoma City and Bobbie Smart of Guymon. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin was born in Keokuk, Iowa. She moved to Guymon in 1936 from Hooker. She graduated from Hooker High School in 1933. She became a member of Guymon First Christian Church in 1936. She was the owner and operator of Martin's Bookkeeping and Tax Service from 1942 until retiring in 1979. She married Cleo Edward Sturdivan in 1936. She married Henry Oliver Martin in 1946. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kaye Martin; and a son, Robert Wayne Sturdivan. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia L. Cleatus of Angel Fire, N.M.; a son, Ronald D. Mrs. Wood was born in Floyd County and lived most of her life in Tatum, N.M. She had lived the last seven years in Gainesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Wood. Survivors include a sister, Lillian Barrett of Amarillo. J.D. Hazlewood WACO - James Douglas Hazlewood, 88, died Thursday, July 17, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Arrangements are by Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home. Mr. Hazlewood was born in Coke County and grew up on a ranch in Palo Duro Canyon. He graduated from West Texas State University and attended the University of Texas School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1936. Before World War II, he served as county attorney of Randall County. During World War II, he served in the Navy Intelligence under the Chief of Naval Operations. He joined the Veterans Administration as a staff attorney in 1946 and retired as assistant district counsel in 1974. After retiring from the Veterans Administration, Mr. Hazlewood engaged in private law practice in Waco under the firm name of Sleeper and Hazlewood. He married Mary Frances Gowen in 1937. She died in 1990. Survivors include two nieces including Elaine Fusselman of Amarillo; and a nephew. New Mexico William Coy Beverage FLOYD, N.M. - William Coy "Bill'' Beverage, 50, died Sunday, July 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales with Clarence Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Blanco Cemetery near Taiban. Mr. Beverage was born in Roswell and raised in Fort Sumner, where he graduated from high school in 1965. He attended two years at New Mexico State University at Las Cruces. He began ranching in several locations in eastern New Mexico in 1968 and for the past 16 years, he ranched west of Floyd. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Fort Sumner and had served as worshipful master on two separate occasions. He married Susan Hall in 1965. He married Carolyn Cross Banister in 1973 at Fort Sumner. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Beverage of Las Cruces and Cade Beverage of Portales; two daughters, Charitie Beverage of the home and Judy Jones of Phoenix; a stepson, Will Banister of Portales; a stepdaughter, Jodie Banister of Portales; his mother, Jean Banister of Phoenix; two brothers, David Beverage of Phoenix and Wayne Beverage of Kingston, Ariz.; a sister, Donna Riggs of Gilbert, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren. Manuel Villanueva PORTALES, N.M. - Manuel Villanueva died Saturday, July 19, 1997, in Santa Fe. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Marcus McCain of Santa Fe officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mr. Villanueva was born and raised in Villanueva. During World War II, he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army. While other troops were storming the beaches of Normandy, he and his comrades landed behind enemy lines in glider aircraft. After the war, he settled in Denver. He married Nettie Martinez in 1947 at Denver. They moved to Whittier, Calif., in 1954 from Denver. In 1956, they moved to Portales. Mrs. Villanueva died in 1995. Mr. Villanueva was supervisor of the maintenance department at Eastern New Mexico University for 15 years before retiring in 1988. He was active in the Senior Citizens Association at Portales and of First Assembly of God. Survivors include his son, Dennis Romero of Santa Fe; two sisters, Tillie Silva of Salt Lake City and Julia Lewis of Las Vegas, N.M.; seven brothers, Ramon Montoya of Portales, Florian Villanueva, Carlos Villanueva and Pablo Villanueva, all of Villanueva, Roberto Villanueva and Leondro Villanueva, both of Albuquerque and Prudencio Villanueva of Anton Chico, Utah; three grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Guy M. Martin PORTALES, N.M. - Guy M. Martin, 77, died Monday, July 21, 1997, in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Portales Cemetery with Scott P. Reeves officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Martin was born in the Upton community, where he lived during his early years. He lived in Taiban in 1939 and graduated from high school there. In 1940, he entered the Navy and served until 1949. He attained the rank of chief machinists mate. After his discharge he returned to Taiban, where he and his brother were partners in a ranching and farming operation. In 1954, they moved to Floyd, where he farmed and ran a dairy for many years. Mr. Martin was active for a number of years in the Floyd Lions Club. He served as president of the PTA and helped with 4-H when his boys were in school. He attended Melrose Baptist Church. He married Ida Pearl Hobbs in 1944 at Fayetteville, Ark. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Homer Wayne Martin of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Charles Ray Martin of Portales; a sister, Ina Marie Bryant of El Paso, Texas; and four grandchildren. Emmett Irvin Lamon CLOVIS, N.M. - Emmett Irvin "Smokey'' Lamon, 69, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in The Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Lamon was born in Emporia, Kan. He married Callie Marie "Kay'' Davis in 1968 at Houston, Texas. They moved to Clovis 10 years ago from Oklahoma, where Mr. Lamon retired from the state of Oklahoma Vehicle Maintenance Shop. He was inducted into the Navy in 1944 and served during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3015 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Willie Seale of Midland, Texas, Emmett Lamon Jr. of Carlsbad, Bobby Lamon of Mansfield, Texas, Ronald Lamon of Charleston, S.C., and Ricky Lamon of Bryan, Texas; five daughters, Odessa Shaw of Plainview, Texas, Jeannie Enloe of Tulsa, Okla., Diane Stover of Fort Worth, Texas, Robin Barnard of Dayton, Texas, and Rhonda White of Bryan; a brother, Harvey Lamon of Liberal, Kan.; three sisters, Iva Hoddy of Liberal, Dixie Dunsworth of Laverne, Okla., and Verda Woodrum of Salem, Ore.; and 21 grandchildren. Billy J. Lewis CLOVIS, N.M. - Billy J. Lewis, 58, died Saturday, July 19, 1997. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. R.L. Smith officiating. He married Minnie Jean Ransom in 1960 at Clovis. He married Charolette Cleaver in 1974 at Clovis. He married Pat Ross in 1988 at Littlefield, Texas. Mr. Lewis was a laborer and a tractor driver. He was a member of New Light Baptist Church. Survivors include six sons, Moses M. Lewis, Bobby J. Lewis and Billy L. Lewis, all of Clovis, Lennis Fareed of Los Angeles, Wayne Hall of Amarillo and Shawn Baldwin of Albuquerque; three daughters, Janetta Lewis of Los Angeles, and Kizzy Lewis and Mahagony Lewis, both of Clovis; his parents, Otis and Arenetta Foster of Clovis; three sisters, Pearl Bryant and Wilma K. Cooper, both of Clovis, and Jean Chandler of Waco, Texas; a brother, Gene Foster of Clovis; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
