Skeen Jr. Carl W. Skeen Jr., 76, of 2606 S. Ross St., died Saturday, June 21, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Tucker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Skeen was born in Melrose, N.M. He moved to Amarillo in 1963 from Maud, Okla. He was a construction worker for many years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Laborers International Union of North America. He married Vada Bilbrey in 1951 at Grand Junction, Colo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Terry Phillips of Amarillo, and Bella Smith of Lacombe, La.; a son, Bobby Skeen of Fountain, Colo.; two brothers, Dale Skeen of Mojave, Calif., and Buddy Skeen of Waco; five sisters, Ruth Summers and Dorothy Scates, both of Ada, Okla., Margaret Baker of Springfield, Ill., Gay Carol Skeen of Shawnee, Okla., and Sissy Skeen of Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Chad Williams Chad Williams, 27, of Irving, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, June 21, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church, 4000 Mays Drive, with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 Georgia St. Mr. Williams was born in Hereford. He moved with his family to Amarillo, shortly thereafter. He was a graduate of Amarillo High School. He was also a graduate of West Texas A&M University. He grew up working with his family's auction company until they discontinued the business, at which time he became an advertising representative for the Amarillo Globe-News and subsequently for the Wall Street Journal in Dallas. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He married Holly Johnson in 1993 at Amarillo Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Taylor Williams of the home; his parents, Janeen and Arvell Williams of Amarillo; a sister, Cody Rohland of Dallas; his grandmothers, Bettye Burnett and June Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Zoe Williams of Hereford; and his grandparents, Dorothy and William Hamer of Hereford. Dennis Williams, pastor of First Baptist Church in Lorenzo, the Rev. Monte Wike, pastor, and Blake Payne, grandson, officiating. Burial will be at East Mound Cemetery. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Payne was born in Motley County. She graduated from Matador High School and attended West Texas State College. She taught school for several years and later worked as a clerk in a drug store in Matador. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Fort Payne in 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1934 and a son, Charles M. Payne, in 1981. Survivors include a son, J.D. Payne of Lubbock; two sisters, Mary McMahan of Matador, and Sadie Bradley of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Billy Ray McCarrell ELKHART, Kan. - Billy Ray McCarrell, 33, died Friday, June 20, 1997, in Omaha, Neb. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Juanita Catlin officiating. Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery. Arrangements are by Harrell Funeral Home of Elkhart. Mr. McCarrell was born in Port Arthur. He had been a resident of Elkhart since 1972. He was a member of United Methodist Church. He married Betty Jo Romero in 1989 at Elkhart. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Tara LeAnn McCarrell of Independence, Kan., and Christina Marie Holbert of Elkhart; his father, Jackie McCarrell of Elkhart; his mother, Karen McCarrell of Elkhart; and a brother, Dennis Ray McCarrell of Rock Springs, Wyo. Lambright, 84, died Sunday, June 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Ivey Chapel with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Lambright was born in Fayetteville, Ark. He moved to Dimmitt in 1955. He was a former resident of Olton. He was a retired farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Troop H, Fifth Cavalry from 1941 until 1945. He married Velma Reynolds in 1947 at Floydada. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the American Legion, Dimmitt's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8056, Castro County Museum Board of Directors and Castro County Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Barton, in 1997. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Nell Bridges of California; two brothers, Eldon Lambright of Tecumseh, Okla., and Robert Lambright of Washington; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Reagan was born in Valdosta, Ga. She grew up in Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta High School. She married Beryl Reagan in 1955 at Valdosta, Ga. After her marriage, her husband was in the Air Force and they lived in several countries and cities. They moved to Lubbock in 1971 and to Plainview in 1981, where they started Reagan's Floorcovering. She was a member of the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ and had taught Sunday school classes in several churches. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Patti Hutto of Plainview, Karen Hays of Lubbock, and Donna Reagan of Dallas; a son, Daniel Reagan of Amarillo; a brother, Robbie Robinson of Orange Park, Fla.; a sister, Charlotte McKay of Austin; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. Jessie Young PADUCAH - Jessie Young, 86, died Sunday, June 22, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Prather, pastor, and the Rev. Emmett Autrey of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home in Paducah. Mrs. Young was born in Sweetwater. She came to Cottle County in 1923. She was formerly employed by Richards Memorial Hospital in Paducah. She married Elbert Kenneth "Ted'' Young in 1930. He died in 1991. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school in the youth department for 32 years. Survivors include two sons, Charles Young of Comanche, and Kenneth Young of Paducah; three daughters, Betty Wyant of Golden, Colo., Nelda O'Neal of Guthrie, and Kathy Hanks of Vernon; two sisters, Sally Norfleet of Amarillo, and Susie Newcomb of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Wayne Douglas Preston QUANAH - Wayne Douglas Preston, 76, died Sunday, June 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be at Quanah Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home of Quanah. Mr. Preston was born in Acme. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Corps. He and his dad owned Preston Food Liner in Quanah for about 30 years. He taught school in Memphis for 14 years. He was president of the Retired Teachers Association in Quanah from 1988 until 1997. He was also active in the District Retired Teachers Association, holding second vice president office in 1996. He married Ada Smith in 1943 at Quanah. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl Kay Pittman of Vernon, and Vicki Dossett of Athens; a son, Cyd B. Preston of Waco; and nine grandchildren. Robert Diffie DUMAS - Robert Diffie, 39, died Friday, June 20, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church at Dumas with the Rev. Scott Willingham officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Hansford Cemetery at Spearman. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Diffie was born in Merced, Calif. He had been a Dumas resident for 11 years, moving from Spearman, where he had lived for six years. He was a graduate of Spearman High School. He also attended Amarillo College for two years. He did computer and drafting work. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Sharla Mote in 1980 at Tulia. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tyson Diffie and Colton Diffie, both of the home; a daughter, Callie Diffie of the home; his parents, Tommie and Sue White of Alba; and five sisters, Lori Johnson of Wimberley, Terri Dewberry of Spearman, Tanya Diffie of Tucson, Ariz., Tammi Holmes and Traci White, both of Amarillo. The family will be at 1308 Powell in Dumas. Louise Fricks Dickinson CLARENDON - Louise Fricks Dickinson, 77, died Sunday, June 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Citizens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc. of Clarendon. Mrs. Dickinson was born in Sulphur Springs. She retired from Burlington Mills in 1977. She moved to Hall County in 1929 and to Donley County in 1933. She was a resident of Clarendon most of her life, except from 1977 until 1989, when she lived in McLean. She married Harmon Fricks in 1939 at Clarendon. He died in 1969. She married J.P. Dickinson in 1977 at Amarillo. He died in 1989. She was a past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 149 in Clarendon. She was active in the Donley County Senior Citizens Association. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was in the Rebekah Sunday school class and was the president of the day with WMU. She was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Fricks, in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Adamson of Perryton; a son, Bruce Fricks of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Baker of El Sobrante, Calif.; a brother, Bill Williams of Andrews; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Linnie Schuman DUMAS - Linnie Schuman, 90, died Saturday, June 21, 1997. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Dumas Cemetery with B.R. Brummett, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Schuman was born in Mills County. She had been a Dumas resident since 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She married Fritz Schuman in 1929 at Priddy. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957, and two sons, Fritz Fred Schuman in 1939 and Dale Schuman in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Joe Schuman and Donnie Schuman, both of Dumas; five grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Nursing Home Activity Fund, 302 E. Second, Dumas, Texas. The family will be at 103 Bellaire in Dumas.
