Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Tompkins was born and raised in Wichita, Kan. He was a resident of Borger for eight years and moved to Amarillo in 1990. He was an administrative manager for the Budweiser Distributing Center in Amarillo. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Sandy; three daughters, Meagan Tompkins and Kaulene Ruppanner, both of Amarillo and Evonne Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Craig Tompkins of Jacksonville; his mother, Phyllis Tompkins of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Phillip Tompkins of Louisville, Colo.; two sisters, Cora Anderson of Wichita and Floydyne Lippoldt of Fort Morgan, Colo.; and five grandchildren. Tom Dacus Tom Dacus, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with Shawn Smith of Olsen Park Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Dacus was born in Arkansas. He graduated from Booneville High School at Booneville, Ark. He joined the Navy in 1924 and was stationed in the Panama Canal. He was discharged in 1926. He was an attache for Mr. McKay, a philanthropist. After moving to Amarillo in 1926, he worked for Acme Brick Co. as the branch manager. In 1960, he worked for Hereford Brick, and in 1963 he began Dacus Brick and Building Materials. He retired in 1970. Mr. Dacus was a member of the Sertoma Club and was a member, past elder and Sunday school teacher at Olsen Park Church of Christ. He also was a tai chi teacher at The Clairmont. He married Mary Louise Shea in 1937 at Amarillo. She died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Richardson of Littleton, Colo.; a son, Jim Dacus of Alpine; two sisters, Hellen Ingraham of Lubbock and Gladys Aarrell of El Paso; and three grandchildren. Michael Shawn Phillips Michael Shawn Phillips, 27, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Roach, director of pastoral care at Northwest Texas Hospital, officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Mr. Phillips was born in Austin. He attended Palo Duro High School and Tascosa High School. He worked as a salesman at McMurray Auto Sales. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Savannah Phillips of Amarillo; his parents, Joel Phillips and Roxanne Phillips, both of Amarillo; grandparents, Leland and Bert McMurray, and Walter Phillips, all of Amarillo; a half brother, Tyler Phillips of Amarillo; and a half sister, Kimberly Phillips of Amarillo. Mr. Cunningham was born in Maple and had been a resident of Amarillo for more than 40 years. He was a Department of Public Safety officer in Amarillo for 37 years before retiring in 1995. He married Polly Rogers in 1996 at Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Canyon. Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Tommy Young of Austin and Norbert Young of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Debbie Johnson of Claude; a brother, James W. Mary Edna Lee Baskin Mary Edna Lee Baskin, 82, of Fort Worth, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Mrs. Baskin was born in Caddo, Okla., and spent most of her life in Amarillo before moving to Fort Worth. She was a homemaker and had worked for Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Amarillo. The family will be at 3413 Sunlite. Annie Lee Cobble Annie Lee Cobble, 92, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997. Ms. Cobble was born in Maury County, Tenn., and had lived in Amarillo for many years. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She worked for Pantex during World War II. Survivors include a son, Leslie Swindell of Amarillo; a daughter, Ann Laura Terry of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. New Mexico Fannie Hobbs PORTALES, N.M. - Fannie "Fae Beth'' Hobbs, 71, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ross Dunn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hobbs was born in McKinney, Texas. She moved to Lubbock, Texas, when she was a child. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1943 and attended Texas Tech University for two years. She also attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University. She married Max Hobbs in 1946 at Lubbock. They moved to Portales. She performed in plays and productions in the drama department at ENMU. For a short time she was a secretary to the vice president of the university. In 1966, she bought Forsons Ladies' Ready to Wear clothing store on the square in Portales and renamed it "The Gals.'' She owned and operated the business until 1987. She was active in a number of social and service organizations. She served two years as president of Beta Sigma Phi and was selected Outstanding Beta Sigma Phi in 1979. She was a member of the Altrusa Club, the hospital auxiliary and First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of Chi Omega sorority and acted as personnel adviser for the local chapter from 1973 until this past year. She had been a Sunday school teacher, served on the bereavement committee and helped with funeral dinners at the church. She also was a part of the annual Turkey Dinner fund-raiser the ladies of the church did each November. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda Morgan of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; and a greatgranddaughter. The body will be available for viewing until noon today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch or to the building fund at First United Methodist Church. Maxie M. Shuey CLOVIS, N.M. - Maxie M. Shuey, 83, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Stan White officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Shuey was born in Calico Rock, Ark. She attended Wayland Baptist College at Plainview. She moved to Clovis in 1951 and went to Germany with her first husband in 1953. She returned to Clovis in 1954 after the death of her husband. She married Ernie Shuey in 1955. She was active in the Red Cross and served on the Salvation Army Board. She managed the Franklin Store, was president of the Soroptimist Club and helped organize the Senior Citizens Center on Walnut Street. She also helped organize a women's auxiliary for the chamber of commerce and served as its first president. She was active in the Republican Women's Club for years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Robbie Sue Sacket of Temple, Texas; a sister, Della Watkins of Miami, Ariz.; three grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Elizabeth Cumings COLLEGE STATION - Elizabeth Cumings, 38, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, in Southwood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Betty Janke Hopis officiating. Ms. Cumings was born in Dhahran Town, Saudi Arabia. She did computer trust applications for Fidelity Investments and worked mainly in Europe and the Caribbean. Survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Ruth Cumings; a brother, Matthew Cumings of Midland; and a sister, Lydia Cumings of College Station. Dellia Ridlehuber HILLSBORO - Dellia Harrison Ridlehuber, 96, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery. Arrangements also were by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Ridlehuber was born in Hill County, where she lived most of her life. She lived in Woodbury and Mayfield and moved to Prairie House in February. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Henry Counts Ridlehuber in 1921. He died in 1966. She also was preceded in death by a son, Garland. Survivors include five sons, Gene Ridlehuber and Billy Dean Ridlehuber, both of Plainview, James Ridlehuber of Lake Whitney, Harold Ridlehuber of Hillsboro and Joe Ridlehuber of Euless; a daughter, Valda Bradley of Lubbock; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Mr. Denson was born in Greenville. He moved to Pampa in 1939 from Amarillo. He had been a member of the Pampa Kiwanis Club for 51 years. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was head usher for many years and a member of the Men's Fellowship Class. He was a member of Pampa Masonic Lodge 966 AF&AM, the Khiva Temple of the Shrine, the Lubbock Scottish Rite Consistory, the Knight Templar of Borger and the chapter and council of York Rite Masons. He was an insurance agent and was associated with the Fatheree Insurance Agency. He married Ivo Wever in 1939 at Wichita, Kan. She died in 1989. Survivors include two sons, J.B. Denson of Abilene and Wayne L. Denson of Irving; two sisters, Rita Vitale of Brigantine, N.J., and Laura Calendar of Wichita, Kan.; and two grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Panhandle or First United Methodist Church. Victoriana Gonzales HART - Victoriana Gonzales, 80, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Vigil services will be at 8 p.m. today in St. John's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Catholic Church by the Rev. John Hickey, pastor. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Monterrey, Mexico. She lived in McAllen before moving to Hart in 1960. She married Fernando Gonzales in 1955 at Edinburg. He died in 1992. Survivors include eight sons, Jesus Gonzales, Fernando Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, Rumaldo Gonzales, Jose Francisco Gonzales, Jose Angel Gonzales and Guadalupe Gonzales, all of Hart, and Anselmo Aguilar of McAllen; two daughters, Maria Teresa Villegas of Elk City, Okla., and Juanita Rosas of Plainview; a brother, Pedro Escalona of McAllen; two sisters, Maria Vargas and Teresa Hernandez, both of McAllen; 53 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the church. Lonnie H. Neinast SPRINGLAKE - Lonnie H. Neinast, 81, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Riling, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Springlake Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth. Mr. Neinast was born in Sagerton. He married Wanda Fern Parkey in 1940 at Littlefield. She died in 1992. He married Dorothy Offield in 1993 at Lubbock. He lived in Springlake from 1960 to 1968 and moved back to Springlake from Dateline, Ariz., in 1985. Mr. Neinast owned and operated a general mercantile store in Hyder, Ariz. He was a member of the Olton School Board and president of the Lamb County Farm Bureau. He also was an active member of St. Martin Lutheran Church of Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Phil Neinast of Springlake and Robert Offield of Grapevine; two daughters, Francine Hudgens of Midland and Bonnie Smith of Amarillo; a brother, Victor Neinast of Tacna, Ariz.; a sister, Adele Wells of Littlefield; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Dorothy Lee Mitchell PLAINVIEW - Dorothy Lee Mitchell, 73, of DeSoto, formerly of Plainview, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Lelia Lake. She grew up in Shamrock and Clarendon and attended Shamrock schools. She married Robert Lee Mitchell in 1945 at Dinuba, Calif. He died in 1970. She lived in California after getting married. In 1969 she moved to Plainview. She drove the school bus, worked at Edgemere Cafeteria and was a receptionist at Lemons Funeral Funeral Home from 1980 to 1995. She moved to DeSoto in 1995. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Kirkpatrick of Lubbock, Lora Bethel of DeSoto and Lola Box of Cedar Hill; a brother, Dudley Caldwell of Springfield, Mo.; four sisters, Wanda Glenn of Kerman, Calif., Lois McCoy of Santa Ana, Calif., Ruth Adkins of Lamar, Calif., and Alice Fuller of Canadian; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Oklahoma Essie Ruth Thompson BOISE CITY, Okla. - Essie Ruth Thompson, 71, died Thursday, May 22, 1997. Mrs. Evans was born in Beaver and was a resident of Beaver County for 55 years. She had been a homemaker all of her life. She married Leroy Evans in 1938 at Alva. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Leilani O'Reilly and Lorraine Yeomans, both of Beaver, and Elaine Clapper of Brandenburg, Ky.; two sisters, Mildred Venable of Laverne and Palli Jean Mitchell of Paisley, Ore.; two brothers, Roy Broadfoot of Great Bend, Kan., and Dwayne Broadfoot of Paisley; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Canyon Travis W. Payne Jr. Travis W. "Bill'' Payne Jr., 66, a former Canyon and Happy resident, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, in Grand Cane, La. He was a 1950 graduate of Canyon High School, where he was active in FFA. He was president of the Canyon FFA chapter, district FFA secretary and a delegate to the national convention and Lone Star Boys State. He attended Texas Tech University. He farmed and ranched locally, in Colorado and then in Louisiana. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Payne of Grand Cane; four daughters, Londa Decker of Canyon, Beth Rutledge of Natchitoches, La., and Teresa Cowart and Tina Payne, both of Grand Cane; two sisters, Joyce Patching of Happy and Joan Hamblen of Canyon; and 10 great-grandchildren.
