Private graveside services will be Wednesday in Forest Park East Cemetery at League City. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Kilgore was born in Tyler. He lived in Texas City before moving to Amarillo 21/2 years ago. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1982 with a degree in electrical engineering. While in Texas City, Mr. Kilgore worked for Texas-New Mexico Power from 1982 to 1994. He was an electrical engineer for SPS at the time of his death. He was a past president and secretary of the Dickenson Lions Club. He attended Coulter Road Baptist Church. Mr. Kilgore married Rebecca Luna in 1996 at New Orleans. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Steven Kilgore II of the home; a stepdaughter, Claire Ellisa Horne of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Kilgore of Slidell, La.; and a sister, Katherine Ann Ferguson of Baton Rouge, La. Leon Bailey Leon Bailey, 78, of 807 Russell, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano East Cemetery, Garden of Gethsemane, with the Rev. Grover Neal, pastor of St. John Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Bailey was born in New York City. He moved to Amarillo in 1928 from Childress. He was a plumber, retiring from United Plumbing in 1984. He was a member of Sanborn Baptist Church. He married Becky Bozeman in 1974 at Claude. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Debra Kay Shaw, Barbara Bailey and Patricia Dalrymple, all of Amarillo, and Alma Ann Robinson of Bridgeport; three sons, LeRoy Bailey of Dallas, Jimmy Don Bailey of Shamrock and Albert Aday of Amarillo; a sister, Clara Ray of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles Freeman of Dallas and Kenneth Bailey of Lincoln, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Mae Bell Hamilton FORT WORTH - Mae Bell McDaniel Hamilton, 70, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Overton Park United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by the family. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Dalhart and raised in Texhoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma and received a bachelor of science degree in education. In 1950, she moved to Amarillo, where she taught elementary school for more than 20 years. She married Robert C. Hamilton in 1957. They lived in Amarillo for 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband. Mrs. Hamilton moved to Fort Worth in 1994. She attended University Christian Church in Fort Worth. She was a member of the PEO in Fort Worth and Amarillo. She was a child advocate for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of Tarrant County. She also was a classroom volunteer in the Fort Worth ISD and a volunteer for the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Survivors include a sister, Joyce Bowen of Boulder, Colo.; a daughter, Carol Parker of Sweeny; a son, Kris Hamilton of Fort Worth; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to CASA or a favorite children's charity. John Fred Bass DALLAS - John Fred Bass, 56, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. William D. Nix Jr., rector of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church and the Rev. Mr. Bass was born in Tucumcari, N.M., and had lived in Dallas for the last 25 years. He graduated from Mobridge High School in Mobridge, S.D. He attended Harvard University, University of Mexico City, and Baylor University. He received his B.A. in 1963. He served with the Peace Corps from 1963 to 1965. He graduated from Texas University Law School with Honors. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and United States Supreme Court in 1968. He was also on the United States Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit. He practiced law in Austin and Dallas. He was board certified in personal injury. He was a member of fraternal order C.O.I.F. He was the director of Texas Trial Lawyer's Association of America from 1980 to 1984. He was a member of Willow Bend Polo and Hunt Club. He was a Baptist and a Mason. Survivors include his wife, Leigh Ann of Dallas; two sons, Samuel Leigh Bass and John Devon Bass both of Dallas; two daughters, Stacia Bass of Amarillo and Layla McRoberts of Dallas; his parents, Jean and Jack Rich of Amarillo; and a brother, Dr. Anthony "Sam" Bass of Amarillo. The family will be at 3504 Goodfellow. Nellie Lee Beauford MAGNOLIA LOOP, Fla. - Nellie Lee Beauford, 96, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in West Park Cemetery with Mark Roberson officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mrs. Beauford was born in Kingfisher County, Okla. She married Clarence Beauford in 1926 at Amarillo. She attended college in Weatherford, Okla., where she obtained a teaching certificate. She moved to Deaf Smith County in 1927. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church in Hereford for more than 45 years. She moved from Amarillo to Florida in 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980. Survivors include a son, Clarence C. Beauford Jr., of Kent, Wash.; a daughter, Juanita R. Jennings of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one brother, Laurel L. Grant of Geary, Okla.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Alta Anderson RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Alta Anderson, 94, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997. Funeral and burial were in Riverside. Mrs. Anderson had been an Amarillo resident from 1938 to 1947. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin B. Anderson in 1975, and a daughter, Minnie "Sandy" Akins in 1987. Virginia Fay Germany QUITMAN - Virginia Fay Germany, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Ham and the Rev. She had lived in Fritch until moving to Wood County four years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Canyon William Dalton Ford William Dalton Ford, 89, of Canyon, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa with the Rev. Bob Ford officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Ford was born in Commerce. He moved to Plainview in 1916 and to Halfway in 1917. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1925 and from West Texas State Teachers College in 1929. He received his master's degree from the University of Colorado in 1932. Mr. Ford taught at the Goldston School in Donley County and at the Hancock School in Dawson County. He also taught at Groom for 12 years and at Skellytown. In 1944, he became a partner in Barnett Elevators of White Deer. He left the elevator business in 1959 to farm desert land near Battle Mountain, Nev. He also worked at a vineyard in Lodi, Calif., an apartment complex in Sunnyvale, Calif., and farmland near Madera, Calif., before retiring to Canyon in 1977. Mr. Ford was a co-organizer and first president of the Lions Club of White Deer in 1946. He served two terms as mayor of White Deer. He also served several terms on the official board of White Deer Methodist Church and on the building committee for the new church building, which was built in 1958. He was a member of the Rotary Club and First United Methodist Church of Canyon. Mr. Ford married Ima Lane in 1926. She died in 1980. He married Bonnie Hinger in 1983. She died this year. Survivors include two children, Charles Ford of Wilmington, Del., and Nancy O'Neal of White Deer; two stepchildren, Craig Hinger of Canyon and Kathleen Avila of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Tucumcari Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Hovanec was born in Cloudcroft, N.M., and lived in Tucumcari most of her life. She worked as an aviation secretary for many years and was a member of Center Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Thomas Hovanec, in 1971. Survivors include a daughter, Andrea Vasconcellos of Pahoa, Hawaii; a son, Thomas J. Hovanec of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Leona Kirkwood TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Leona Kirkwood, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Kirkwood was born in Oakwood, Okla. She moved to Grady when she was 5 years old and attended school there. She had been a resident of Tucumcari since 1932. She was a member of the Pioneer Senior Citizens. She attended Center Street United Methodist Church. She married W.R. Kirkwood in 1923. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by an infant and a son, Sam Kirkwood, who died in 1990. Survivors include two sons, James Kirkwood of Stillwater, Okla., and George Kirkwood of Liberal, Kan.; two daughters, Mary Kirkwood of Tucumcari and Edna Witt of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until services Monday. Catherine Lee McKinney CLOVIS - Catherine "Katie" Lee McKinney, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Steed-Todd Chapel. Mrs. McKinney was born in Brenham, Texas. She lived in Texas for many years before moving in 1981. She was the past president of GIA Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Clovis. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Lookinghill of Denver, Colo.; a son, Dr. Richard McKinney of Clovis; a sister, Vernice Hill of Denton, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Inez McCoy Barrick BOISE CITY - Inez McCoy Barrick, 99, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Mrs. Barrick was born in Putnam County, Mo. She moved to Oklahoma in 1906. She married Hiram W. Barrick in 1917. She taught school at Bunker Hill and Berg during World War I. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Boise City. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, and two sons, Ralph Barrick and Neil Barrick. Barber Sr. DALHART - C.O. Barber Sr., 94, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Dalhart Church of Christ with Gaylord Cook, minister, and W. Dale Pearson, retired Church of Christ minister from Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Barber was born in Wakita, Okla. He was a Sunday school teacher, song leader, deacon and elder at the Dalhart Church of Christ. He served on the FHA board and the Farm Bureau. He was president of the Inter-State Fair in 1966. He married Beulah Jacques in 1927 at Cassville, Mo. They farmed between Hooker, Okla., and Hugoton, Kan., from 1928 to 1931, when they purchased a farm southwest of Dalhart. In 1971, they moved into Dalhart. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Barber, in 1994. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clyde Barber Jr. of Dumas; three daughters, Eileen Graves of Fort Worth, Glenna Sanders of Spring and Beth Paulk of Perryton; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. William Leon Bullard PAMPA - William Leon Bullard, 87, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Bullard was born in Denton and had been a resident of Pampa since 1934. He worked for Cabot Corp. and owned and operated Leon Bullard's Used Cars. He also farmed in the Wheeler area. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He married Stella West in 1933 at Wichita Falls. She died in 1977. Survivors include a son, Jim Bullard of Edmond, Okla.; two daughters, Lynda Payne of Amarillo and Betty Langford of Graham; a brother, Weldon Bullard of Pampa; a sister, Dorsie Plumley of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Jackie K. Prince QUANAH - Jackie K. Prince, 64, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea and the Rev. She married Robert Prince Jr. in 1952 at Lazare. Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert V. Veda Mae Jones CANADIAN - Veda Mae Jones, 79, formerly of Higgins and Canadian, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, in Pasadena. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Higgins Cemetery at Higgins with the Rev. Jerry Jenkins of Fort Worth officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Jones was born in Lipscomb County and grew up in Higgins. She married Royce Jones in 1940 at Canyon. She worked at the Pantex plant in Amarillo during World War II while her husband served in the Army Air Corps. After the war, they lived in Higgins and operated a grocery store until 1960, when they moved to Canadian. They moved to Pampa in 1980 and to LaPorte in 1993. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Bay Area Christian Church in Webster. She was a former member of First Christian Church in Canadian and Highland Christian Church in Pampa. Survivors include her husband, Royce Jones of LaPorte; a daughter, Christy Drake of LaPorte; two sisters, Leila Turner and JoAnne Cornford, both of Sun City, Ariz.; and two grandchildren. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1925. She married Roy M. Hall in 1928 at Pampa. She was an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She volunteered her time as a musician to Veteran's Hospital in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966. DeMent in 1936 at Plainview. She worked for AAA office and Plainview Production Credit Association before retiring in 1977. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wi-mo-dau-sis, Good Fellowship, B.P.W. Sunday School Class and Wesleyan Circle, Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, and a daughter, Rachel Ann DeMent Price in 1995. Survivors include a son, Dr. Lewis E. Mr. Mullin was born in Turkey. He was a farmer and a rancher. He married Beatrice Virginia Weatherly in 1937 at Wheeler. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margie Edwards of Turkey and Beth Mills of Estelline; two brothers, H.E. Mullin of Turkey and Buster Mullin of Gatesville; two sisters, Donna Browning of Rising Star and Tootsie Cunningham of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery Association.
