Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Elbert Fadallan, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Rodriquez was born in Bracketville and raised in Mertzon. She was a homemaker. She married Manuel Rodriquez in 1921 at San Angelo. He died in 1953. The couple moved to Plainview in 1953. Mrs. Rodriguez was Catholic and a eucharistic minister. She was part of the Guadalupanas, and volunteer groups, R.S.V.P. and F.I.S.H. She also was honored with the Cruzalista award. Survivors include two daughters, Amelia Ramos and Margaret Rivera, both of Plainview; a son, Eaisas Rodriquez, of Houston; 24 grandchildren; 50 greatgrandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Villarreal and two sons, Piogunto Rodriquez and E.J. Rodriquez. The family requests memorials be to Family Hospice of the Plains. Charles Arthur Atkinson FRITCH - Charles Arthur "C.A.'' Atkinson, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Stice, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Devotion Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Atkinson was a native of Sperry, Okla. He moved to Fritch 13 years ago from Beaver, Okla. He married Geraldine Cole in 1950 at Clayton, N.M. Mr. Atkinson served in Army during World War II, seeing action in the European Theater. He worked for CIG for 34 years as a plant operator. While in Beaver, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fritch First Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Atkinson of Norman, Okla., Steve Atkinson of Liberal, Kan., and Phillip Atkinson of Fritch; two daughters, Jeannie Dudley and Marty Chapa, both of Fritch; a sister, Doreen Todd of College Station; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Charleen Bramlet PLAINVIEW - Charleen Bramlet, 70, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1997. Mrs. Bramlet was born in Lubbock County. She grew up in Plainview. She graduated from high school in Plainview. She was a member of the Nazarene Church. She married Eddie Bramlet in 1945 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; a brother, Dwayne Ellis of Plainview; two sisters, Eline McVictor and Gwyn Wilson, both of Plainview; and a grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Lynette Bramlett. Esther Colville PAMPA - Esther Colville, 75, of Pampa, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Colville was born in Floydada. She was a resident of Pampa since 1956. She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics from North Texas State Teachers College. She was a teacher at Pampa High School, retiring after 17 years. She married Lynn Colville in 1942 at San Antonio. Mrs. Colville was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Crusader Sunday School class, and past president of United Methodist Women. She was a member of Pampa First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mike Colville of Dallas; three daughters, Juantia McBee of Ennis, Lynda McCoy of Phoenix, Ariz., and Martha Colville of Lubbock; a sister, Fern Lanier of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Saul Torres DUMAS - Saul Torres, 15, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997. Services will be held in Cuahutemoc Chihuahua, Mexico. Mr. Torres was born in Cuahutemoc Chihuahua. He lived in Dumas. Survivors include his parents, Socorro and Miguel Torres Sr. of Mexico; five brothers, Leonardo Terrazas of Amarillo, and Humberto Terrazas, Gilbert Terrazas, George Terrazas and Omar Terrazas, all of Mexico; and a sister, Lucia Torres, of Mexico. Mr. Blankenship was born in Lockett. He had lived in Bovina since 1995, moving from the Oklahoma Lane community, where he had lived since 1949. He was a farmer and Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Oklahoma Lane Methodist Church. He married Carlene Jones in 1996 at Bovina. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Blankenship in 1994. Survivors include a son, Lynn Blankenship of Seattle; two stepsons, Reggie Jones of Amarillo and Donald Jones of Farwell; a daughter, Ruth Anne Bennett of Oklahoma Lane; two stepdaughters, Blenda Riddle of Bovina and Kathy Boozer of Canyon; a sister, Wanda Travis of Wichita Falls; and two brothers, Elmer Blankenship of Wilson, and Curtis Blankenship of Stockton, Calif. Ida Caddell Farmer WHEELER - Ida Caddell Farmer, 88, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, in Midland. Services will be at 2 p.m. in Wheeler First Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Farmer was born in Denton County. She attended school in Aubrey and graduated from Denton High School. She went to college at North Texas State Teachers College where she received her first teacher certification. She came to Wheeler County in 1928 to teach at Corn Valley School. She married Elvis E. "Ebb'' Farmer in 1932 at Wheeler. He died in 1967. Mrs. Farmer also graduated for West Texas College in 1948 and taught in the Wheeler schools until retiring in 1974. She moved to Midland in 1985. She was a member the Retired Teachers Association, First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the '54 Study Club. Survivors include a son, Glen Farmer of Midland; two brothers, Vernon L. Caddell of Dallas and Curtis Macon Caddell of Granbury; four grandsons; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch or a favorite charity. Oklahoma Robert Lee Smith HOLLIS, Okla. - Robert Lee Smith, 75, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Fairmont Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Walsh of Wichita Falls, officiating. Arrangements were by PattersonGreer Funeral Home of Hollis. Mr. Smith was born in Hollis. He was a carpenter with his brothers in Hollis for several years before moving his family to Wichita Falls in 1954. He married Evelyn Irene Smith in 1939. Mr. Smith served in the Army in World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Lee Smith in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Howell of Plainview, Texas; a son, Charles Arthur Smith of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Truman Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Wanda Jean Clasby of Nowata, and Irene Cummins of Kansas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Joseph Daniel Traugott Joseph Daniel Traugott, 62, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Traugott was born in Hot Springs, Ark. He worked for several radio stations in the area as on-air talent and was known to his listeners as "J. Daniels.'' Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Brice of Amarillo and Susan Henize of Fort Worth; two sons, Kurt Traugott of Amarillo and Joseph Traugott of Alaska; five sisters; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Lula Ray Avara Lula Ray Avara, 85, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Llano Cemetery with the Rev. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1930. She married Norman Avara in 1932 at Amarillo. He died in 1972. Mrs. Avara retired from sales in 1984. She had worked at Kuykendalls and Aileens Lingerie. She was Baptist. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Jackson and Helen Roberson, both of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Cremation will be handled by Shrine of Remembrance. Mr. Ewing was born in Happy. He graduated from Sunray High School. He served in the Air Force for 22 years. He achieved the rank of master sergeant and received commendations including, Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and 2/3 Battle Service Stars. He married Diane Lee Wickers in 1981 at Colorado Springs. Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Sue Ewing of Colorado Springs; a stepson, Robert G. Purnell of Seattle; a brother, Houston R. Era Jo Aiken BRECKENRIDGE - Era Jo Aiken, 85, a former Amarillo resident, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andrew Channer officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery by Melton Funeral Home. Mrs. Aiken was born in Palmer. She married James Aiken in 1934. He died in 1988. Mrs. Aiken was a teacher, homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Thompson of Breckenridge, Marsha Neeb of Laramie, Wyo., Sue St. John of Dallas, and Kay Reeve of Auburn, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Canyon Cathryn Peterson Morris Cathryn Peterson Morris, 82, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Canyon First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor, and the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Morris was born in Higgins. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Higgins High School in 1931. She attended Southern Methodist University for two years and transferred to West Texas College in 1933 as an English major. She received her bachelor's degree in 1935 and returned to West Texas State University in 1955 to receive her master's degree in English. She later taught at Amarillo College and West Texas State. She also taught at Canyon High school and worked as a librarian at West Texas High School in Canyon. Mrs. Morris married Milton A. Morris in 1936 at San Antonio. He died in 1993. She was in many civic clubs and worked with the Opportunity Plan, Inc. and was a member of Canyon First Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Cathryn Wright of Amarillo; three sisters, Veda Mae Jones of LaPorte; Leila Turner of Sun City, Ariz., and Joanne Cornford of Sun City West, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
