Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mrs. Dyer was born in Bokchito, Okla., and was a resident of Borger since 1941. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married Norman Leslie Dyer in 1929. Survivors include four daughters, Clarrena Spear and LaVonn Littell both of Amarillo, Joy Cummings of Raton, N.M., and Norma Lee Leake of Fritch; three brothers, John Dodson of Springfield, Colo., Louis Dodson of Amarillo and Grady Dodson of Bonham; a sister, Billie Hindman of Farmington, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Imogene Jamison Miller PAMPA - Imogene Jamison Miller, 75, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wheeler Cemetery at Wheeler with the Rev. M.B. Smith, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Miller was born in South Bend and had been a Pampa resident for 50 years. She was a poet and a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen Dale Miller, in 1956. She married Harold Fredrick Hardesty in 1926 at Centralia, Ill. He died in 1980. After her marriage, she lived in Cairo until moving to Plainview in 1979. Barnett Jr., 82, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Pauline Dustman TULIA - Pauline Inez Williamson Dustman, 82, of Kingman, Ariz., a former Tulia resident, died Friday, March 21, 1997. Mrs. Dustman was born in Valentine. She married Glenn Henry Dustman in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. She moved to Casa Grande, Ariz., at an early age and attended school there. She moved to Tulia in 1932 and to Happy in 1941. She returned to Arizona in 1977 and moved to Kingman in 1989. She was an assistant manager of a dry cleaning store. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dustman, in 1995. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Peggy Smith of Amarillo; a son, Jerry Dustman of Roswell, N.M.; three sisters; a brother; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Triplett was born in Porum, Okla., and had been a Dumas resident since 1945. She was a homemaker and a life member of the Texas Panhandle Chapter of the Ex-POWs. She was a longtime volunteer for the Moore County Museum and served as a volunteer in the nursery of First Baptist Church for 15 years. She married Ned Triplett in 1942 at Stigler, Okla. Survivors include her husband; a son, Derrel Triplett of Seattle; three daughters, Nedra Ockerman of Plainview, Sue Pullin of Deer Park and Carla Nichols of Chino, Calif.; a brother, Bill Hicks of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. New Mexico Amy Evetts PORTALES, N.M. - Amy Evetts, 86, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Span and Jeff Sinclair, grandson, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Cemetery at Muleshoe, Texas, by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. Mrs. Evetts was born in Oglesby, Texas, and grew up in Central Texas. Her family moved to Goodland, Texas, in 1925. After finishing high school, she taught school there. She attended West Texas Normal School. She married J.E. "Ping" Evetts in 1938 at Portales. She taught school during World War II at Three Way, Texas. She received her bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University and taught at Lovington, Mescalero, Dora and Muleshoe. In 1955 Mrs. Evetts and her husband purchased a Portales drive-in and operated it under the names Ping's Twin Cronies and later Pat's Twin Cronies. They retired in 1980. Mrs. Evetts was a lifelong Baptist and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Portales, where she had been active in the Adult IV Department for more than 20 years. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pat Glasscock of Portales and Barbary Ann Sinclair of Poteau, Okla.; two sisters, Katherine Sanders and Rosemary Johnson, both of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren. Oris R. Hubbell CLOVIS, N.M. - Oris R. "Bill" Hubbell, 81, died Saturday, March 22, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas, with the Rev. Jimmy McGuire and Greg Martin officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery at Bovina, Texas, by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Hubbell was born in Helena, Okla. He moved to Oklahoma Lane, Texas, and farmed there. He married Golma Foster at Clovis. They moved to Clovis in 1947 and farmed southwest of town until moving to Farwell in 1953. They moved back to Clovis in 1961. He was a dock foreman for ICX Freight for 25 years and retired from Moore Implement after 28 years. He was a member of the Teamsters for 23 years and a past member of the board of stewards of Oklahoma Lane Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Lloyd. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kerry Hubbell of Clovis and Ricky Hubbell of Farwell; two daughters, Beverly Obenshain and Debbie Dillon, both of Farwell; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vanderpool was born in Fort Collins, Colo., and had been a resident of Logan for the past two years, moving from Coffeyville, Kan., where she had been a longtime resident. She retired as a registered nurse. She was a member of Logan First Baptist Church and was active in the Logan American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Brown of Logan and Beverly Gartner of Courtland, Miss.; two sons, David Vanderpool of Norman, Okla., and Jon Vanderpool of Coffeyville; four sisters, Margaret Dunn of Onalaska, Dorothy Titsworth of Okmulgee, Okla., Martha Gahagan of Chicago and Cora Swaney of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She lived in Beckham County until moving to Hereford, Texas, in 1989. She married Leonard Seright in 1935. He died in 1983. She was a homemaker, a former Sunday school teacher and a longtime member of the Merritt Quilting Club and Prairie View Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Murlene Streun of Hereford; two sons, Gene Seright of Welch and Dean Seright of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Ima Keeling of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Helen L. Wilmoth BEAVER, Okla. - Helen L. Wilmoth, 79, died Saturday, March 22, 1997. Services were Monday in Beaver United Methodist Church. Burial was in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mrs. Wilmoth was born in Dexter, Kan. She had been a Beaver resident since 1935. She married Denzil Wilmoth in 1935 at Dexter. She worked in retail sales most of her life. She was a past member of the Beaver County Library Board. She taught for the Matador ISD before retiring in 1973. She moved to Lubbock in 1974. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, the Dorcas Circle Sunday School class and the Kings Choir. She also was a member of the Teachers Retirement Association and The Three R's. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Timmons of Canyon. Mr. Beasley was born in Plainview and graduated from Tulia High School in 1961. He was a member of the honor society, the football team and the track team. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1968 and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in Weatherford for three years. He moved to Houston in 1972 and worked for more than 20 years for oil companies in that area. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanna Beasley of California; parents, Roy and Mary Beasley of Vigo Park; a sister, Faye Marie Brown of Roanoke; and a brother, Wayne Beasley of Tulia. Survivors include a sister, Lela Mae Williams of Amarillo. David Goodwin Bray DALLAS - David Goodwin Bray, 85, of Lubbock, a former Dallas resident, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with George Field, lay minister of McKinney, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. Mr. Bray was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and from SMU in 1935, majoring in journalism. He played football and basketball for SMU from 1931 to 1934. He married Mary Kolb in 1940 at Wichita Falls. He coached at Highland Park High School from 1935 to 1936. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1936 to 1974, retiring as an executive. He had lived in Amarillo, Clarendon, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Vernon, Uvalde, Fort Worth and Dallas. He moved to Lubbock in 1990. He was a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carol Jording of Wilmington, Del., and Joan Bray of St. Louis; a son, David G. Bray Jr. of Lubbock; five grandchildren. He married Maggie Goodlow in 1976 at Pine Bluff, Ark. He moved to Amarillo in 1980 and was previously employed by Levi Strauss. He had been a utility technician for Owens Corning since 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wrightsville, Ark. Survivors include his wife; a son, Kevin Pennington of the home; his mother, Mercie Pennington of Woodson, Ark.; three sisters, Jacqueline Pennington of Wrightsville, and Beverly Pennington and Iris Pennington, both of Woodson; two brothers, Malcom Pennington of Still, Mo., and Eric Pennington of Woodson. The family will be at 2830 Mays St. Johnny Alfred Hathcock Johnny Alfred Hathcock, 48, a longtime resident of Kittredge, Colo., and former Amarillo resident, died Monday, March 17, 1997. Mr. Hathcock was born in Tucumcari, N.M. He was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1966. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended Amarillo College. He had worked for the Jefferson County, Colo., school system since 1973. He also had been a building engineer at Parmalee Elementary School in Indian Hills for 12 years. He was a soccer coach and co-founder of the Stingers, Evergreen's first elite youth soccer club. He also started the chess club at Parmalee. Survivors include his parents, Johnny and Pat Hathcock of Amarillo; and two sisters, Jeanie Mariner and Debbie Dudley, both of Amarillo. Esma R. Parks Esma R. He then was employed by the Amarillo Livestock Commission and retired after 40 years. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Steve Whitehead of Irving, and Roger Whitehead, Don Whitehead, Chris Whitehead and Oliver Roberts, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Michele Cox of Amarillo; a brother, Thad Whitehead of Tahoka; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Daniel was born in Dallas and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1929. After graduating from Amarillo High School, he enlisted in the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II. He served as a police officer in Amarillo and Carlsbad, N.M. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway for 33 years before retiring as a conductor. After retiring, he was instrumental in organizing the Lake Tanglewood Public Library. He was a member of the Lake Tanglewood Community Church and the Lake Tanglewood Lions Club. He married Ruth Vermillion in 1965 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Deborah Breitling and Dana Webber, both of Amarillo, and Diana Daniel of LaVeta, Colo.; a stepson, Tom Vermillion of Midland; a stepdaughter, Diane McDonald of Lubbock; a brother, Dan Daniel of Pico Rivera, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Charles Wedgeworth Charles "Wedge" Wedgeworth, 70, of 10517 Broadway, died Saturday, March 22, 1997. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Wedgeworth was born in Winkler County. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Barbara Jean Sharp in 1957 at Coleman. He had been an Amarillo resident for the past 45 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of Northside Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Walter Wedgeworth and Johnny Wedgeworth, both of Texas, and Bobby Wedgeworth, Robert Wedgeworth and Bill Sharp, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Connie Dawson of Tulsa, Okla., and Debbie Smith of Amarillo; a half brother, James Wilkerson of Tulsa; a sister; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 10517 Broadway. William Van Veghten William "Bill" Van Veghten, 71, of 3300 Wayne, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler and the Rev. Bob Murphy, both of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Van Veghten was born in Niota, Ill., and had lived in Amarillo for 20 years. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Jo Ann Gutting in 1946 at Kahoka, Mo. He was a fireman for the Santa Fe Railway in Las Vegas, N.M. He moved to Santa Rosa, N.M., in 1956 and owned and operated a service station there. He moved to Amarillo in 1977 and began working for Maywood Inc. He retired in 1990. He was a member of Liberty Lodge AF&AM No. 51 and the Sunshine Order of the Eastern Star in Santa Rosa. He also was a member of the Canyon Country Club, Paramount Terrace Christian Church and the Journeyman Sunday School class. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Roxanne Fry of Amarillo; a son, Bill Van Veghten of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 3300 Wayne. John Henry Parker John Henry Parker, 70, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Parker was born in Oklahoma City and had been a longtime Amarillo resident. He joined the Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by the city of Amarillo as a housing inspector. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Henry Ann Parker of Lubbock and Patsy Ann Stephenson of San Antonio; three stepdaughters, Diane Hernandez, Tina Brittain and Emily McSmith, all of Amarillo; two stepsons, Michael Lee Gonzalez of Amarillo and Jerry Gonzalez of Monrovia, Calif.; a sister, Pat Whitfield of Spencer, Okla.; and 15 grandchildren. The family will be at 917 N. Travis. The body will be available for viewing until 1 p.m. Wednesday. C.L. Rosson C.L. "Snow" Rosson, 90, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Rosson was born in Winters and had lived in Amarillo for 70 years. He served in the Army as a mechanic during World War II. He married Mildred Wescoat in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death his wife and a daughter, Betty Rosson, in 1938. Survivors include a brother, T.J. Rosson of Georgetown; and a sister, Gladys Meers of Fort Worth. The family will be at 3612 E. 11th Ave. Eugene Willis Shaw Eugene "Pappy" Willis Shaw, 85, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 24, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave., with the Rev. J. Alan Ford of Southwest Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Shaw was born in Fort Smith, Ark., and had lived in Amarillo since 1946. He worked for Groendyke Transport Co. for more than 30 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church. He married Mahota Shaw in 1947 at Clovis. He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Lee Shaw, in 1982. Survivors include his wife; nine children, John Shaw of Shreveport, La., Alton Shaw of Lubbock, Edna Gilliland of Floydada, Weldon Shaw of Canyon, Lynn Shaw of Dumas, Sally Casadas of Dacona, Colo., and Jane Mackowiak, Harlan Shaw and Teresa Armijo, all of Amarillo; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
